Shift and numbers do not work. How to fix Shift key not working in Windows

Question: ACER E5-721 (da0zyvmb6d0 rev:D) Not all keys work on the keyboard.

Some keys on the keyboard do not work, I went the easy way - I changed the keyboard to a new one, the problem remained. Before that, the laptop had been repaired in a third-party service, and when I opened it, there was no keyboard connector, I soldered a new one! I didn't find a diagram!

Question: Lenovo b575e - Touchpad stops working after pressing any key on the keyboard

Hello, dear forum users.
After loading the OS, if you press any key on the keyboard, the touchpad and keyboard simply stop working (before all actions, the touchpad works). If you connect a mouse via USB, the cursor comes to life again, but there is still no touchpad with a keyboard.
At the same time, all the Fn-F1 and Fn-F2 keys (sleep and turn off the display, respectively) respond. After waking up, the touchpad works again until the first press on the keyboard. What could it be?
V safe mode the same.
If you press F8 before loading the OS and try to select the boot option with the arrows, everything is fine. The cursor-line runs back and forth without problems.
What was done to solve the problem:
1) System Restore (March 2016)
2) Editing the LowerFilter and UpperFilters parameters in the registry
3) Reset BIOS settings to default settings
4) Instruction from the lenovo forum with holding the button in a small hole near the left ctrl
5) Update drivers
6) Full virus scan with fresh cureit
7) And finally, reinstalling the OS with formatting the system disk
After reinstalling the OS even before the first launch, when setting the username, PC name, etc. it was no longer possible to enter data, history repeated itself. I had to use the on-screen keyboard.
I've already broken my head, who will tell you what?

Answer: No thoughts, can unhook the keyboard cable and connect the usb keyboard.

I looked through the connector for connecting the standard keyboard - everything is normal. But there is one BUT!!! If it rings the same way, then the lines from the multi to the connector are normal - not on a break, not shorted - with normal insulation, etc., and if not normal, then the opposite is true, including due to the cartoon proMMM problem.

You can often see how users complain that "Shift" on the keyboard does not work for them. This phenomenon is not so rare. It can be caused by various reasons. Nevertheless, this scenario causes a lot of problems for users. Sometimes it even becomes very problematic.

So what if Shift refused to work? Why is this happening? Are there reasons for concern? Answering all these questions is not as difficult as it seems. The most important thing is not to panic. After all, the problem under study is not always critical. Moreover, only in rare cases, when the Shift button fails to work, you have to act radically.

Keyboard malfunction

The first reason is obvious. It occurs quite often, but it manifests itself not only in the fact that "Shift" on the keyboard does not work. The thing is that all equipment can wear out. It is likely that the failure of the specified key from working is a consequence of a malfunction of the connected device. How to be? You can either install new keyboard and check the functionality of the specified button, or try to fix the old one. As practice shows, the first way to solve the problem is the most effective. What's next?

blockage

Is the "Shift" button on or "sticky"? More precisely, is it not pressed the first time, or does the computer in principle not respond to this key? Then you should clean the keyboard. This phenomenon should not be frightening. After all this problem is common, especially if a person is used to eating right in front of a computer or laptop.

What's the matter? In the most ordinary blockage. From time to time, any keyboard needs to be cleaned. Otherwise, its buttons begin to refuse to work. Including Shift. Therefore, users quite often advise each other to disassemble this component and clean it if any problems arise with the keyboard. Surprisingly, this method very often helps to get rid of the problems that have arisen. But also on this possible reasons why "Shift" on the keyboard does not work does not end.

Viruses

But the next scenario is not so frequent, but it causes a lot of trouble for users. We are talking about the impact on the operating system of various viruses and trojans. That is, you should not be surprised if an "infection" has settled in the computer, and at the same time the "Shift" button on the keyboard does not work. Or if it performs only individual functions that were not originally intended for it.

How to proceed? It all depends on the nature of the virus. First of all, it is recommended to save important data to media, and then scan the operating system antivirus program. After that, you need to "treat" the computer and re-check. Previously, all those who did not succumb to treatment are removed.

After that, you can reboot the system. And "Shift", if done correctly, will work. Otherwise, you can try to reinstall the OS with pre-formatting hard drive. This is mandatory, because this is the only way to completely get rid of certain viruses. Perhaps this is the most serious situation that can only occur.

Pirate

Shift key not working? The next variant of the development of events is also far from rare. And it usually fixes itself without too much trouble. Shift gave up work? It is worth considering what operating system is on the computer.

If the user has purchased and installed a license for himself, then the suggested reason is crossed out automatically. But often users install pirated Windows on computers. It is not necessary to be surprised that at one fine moment there was a problem in which "Shift" does not work. This is quite normal for pirates.

You can act in several ways. The first is reinstalling the OS. Sometimes it doesn't work the first time. In some cases, it doesn't work at all. The second is to change the operating system to a license. If the problem lies in Windows versions, then the keyboard will start working at full power.

Settings

But not everything is as scary as it seems. Before you run out to buy new hardware or reinstall the OS, it is recommended that you check your computer settings. What exactly? Sometimes the operating system exhibited special settings. Or, for some unknown reason, they get lost. Because of this, the left "Shift" on the keyboard does not work. Yes, and often the right one too.

To check this item, you will have to go to the "Ease of Access Center" It is recommended to pay attention to "Filtering Settings" and "Sticky". Here you can try to turn on / off additional parameters associated with the "Shift" button. The changes are saved, after which you can check the functionality of the keys .

That's all. Now it is clear why the "Shift" button on the keyboard does not work, and how to deal with this situation. In fact, everything is not so difficult. If you cannot fix the problem yourself, we recommend that you contact service centers for help.
