At the Consumer Electronics Show, Xiaomi presented the fourth generation of TVs produced under its own brand, the presentation turned out to be quite interesting, because the TVs are now completely frameless, and due to modularity they are also very thin, it is promised that the 65-inch modification will cost up to $ 2,000.
And while reviewers and potential buyers are waiting for the release of the original model, the Chinese have released a budget simplified version of the Mi TV 4A TV in four screen sizes: 43, 49, 55 and 65 inches. Packaging and equipment
The TVs are shipped in single boxes made of colorless medium-weight cardboard. The internal foam dampers are of medium thickness, and in general, the Mi TV 4A’s protection against damage during transportation is not particularly outstanding. In addition to the TV set, the package includes only a remote control and a battery.
Appearance and ergonomics
All three TVs are quite light for their screen sizes, with most of the body made of aluminum, the lower back, screen bezel and legs are made of plastic. Personally, I really liked the appearance of this line, and the designers make it clear that the TV belongs to the budget segment, but the design itself complies with European canons, there is not even a hint of Asianism, thanks to this the TV can fit into almost any interior. The disadvantage of the design is that it is boring, there is only one color - black, there are no elements that would dilute the appearance.
Of the classic controls on the TV, only the power button, all control is carried out from the remote control or from a phone with an infrared port through a special application.
Screen
Xiaomi Mi TV 4A has screens with a diagonal of 43, 49 and 55 inches. The resolution of the first two FullHD, the large TV has a resolution of 3840 * 2160 pixels. All other characteristics vary greatly depending on the model and the matrix used, for the convenience of the reader, I have summarized them in a table. Neither model supports 3D content playback, but the 55-inch version has HDR support.

Hardware platform and performance
The hardware platform of the TV is based on the Amlogic T962 system-on-chip, which includes four Cortex-A53 cores operating at frequencies up to 1.5 GHz and a very old, albeit overclocked, Mali-450 video accelerator. DDR4 RAM is only 2 GB, eMMC 5.1 permanent memory is only 8 GB, for all models except the smallest there are modifications with 32 GB of memory.
The results of synthetic tests on the TV are quite modest, in the sixth version of AnTuTu it scores 32704 points, in the Geekbench 4 singlecore test only 571 points. Obviously, this hardware platform is only suitable for playing content and simple games, modern heavy 3D games on a TV will either not start or will work with an uncomfortable fps indicator. Despite all of the above, working with the TV is pleasant, the graphical shell works smoothly, the interface is responsive, simple applications start up pretty quickly.
Wired and wireless interfaces
All interface connectors are collected in one place - on the rear surface from the bottom left, they include: ethernet port; three full-size HDMI 2.0 (two in 43 and 49-inch models), one of them supports ARC; two USB 2.0; coaxial connector for antenna; composite input and SPDIF. The HDMI interface of the second version implies that when external sources are connected to the TV, content can be transmitted in a resolution of 3840 * 2160 at 60 fps.
Of the wireless interfaces, in addition to the infrared port, the TV has dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.2, the latter can be used to connect wireless headphones, speakers, mice, gamepads and other devices.
Acoustics and sound quality
By default, the user will have to be content with two built-in full-size speakers with a power of 6 watts each. The sound from the speakers is unremarkable, it is the same as in the vast majority of budget TVs. If desired, you can separately order a set of soundbar and subwoofer. Built-in sound chip of unknown origin supports audio decoding: Dolby Audio and DTS HD.
Features of the operating system and the logic of interaction with the device
The TV runs on the Android 6.0.1 operating system with the MIUI TV OS shell installed on top. Unlike LeEco TVs, there is no Russian language in the system by default, which at the moment can only be obtained by installing a third-party launcher, you won’t be able to install the Google Play Store at all, you will have to be content with applications from the Chinese store. However, third-party applications can be installed manually via apk. The interface is made in the tradition of Chinese smart TVs. The main screen scrolls horizontally and contains content sorted into tabs from left to right. All functions of Mi TV 4A are controlled from the remote control or from a smartphone with a special application installed on it. The interface is responsive, switching between different modes and returning to the desktop are almost instantaneous.
Work as a TV and player
The TV supports watching an analog signal from an antenna or cable TV, at the same time there is no support for digital TV - this is worth bearing in mind. The device is focused primarily on IP-TV and streaming services.
To play video from internal memory or external media, the most popular containers and codecs are supported, including H.264 and H.265 with a resolution of up to 3840 * 2160 pixels and a frame rate of up to 60 fps. The TV does not support playback of 3D content in any form, it seems that the company has played enough with this feature.
In conclusion, I will say that we have a budget line of TVs designed to expand the audience of consumers of paid Xiaomi services. For a buyer in Russia and other CIS countries, only basic characteristics obviously matter, because. hardly anyone will use Chinese services here. The advantages of the TV include: low cost, good matrices, European design, the presence of all necessary interfaces; to the minuses: a frankly weak hardware platform, USB is only the second version, the absence of the Russian language in the firmware. A TV is worth buying for those users who want to get a good picture and android as an OS for little money, a potential buyer may be scared away by the lack of digital TV support and a non-standard way of buying.

What is interesting about the youngest of the Xiaomi lineup against the backdrop of all the abundance of Russian retail? Diagonal 32 inches, Smart, integration with smart home space and direct connection to many services…
It turned out that this is one of the best TVs in its class. Cheap, like Mystery or Haier, but shows like Sony 2 times more expensive. In terms of “smart” functions, there are no analogues in its category at all.
Screen. What is the matrix in it?
What's on TV? Of course, the image. And it is determined by the matrix and a little "brains" - decoders, hardware and software.
In the past, Xiaomi has happily reported on using the best matrices from major brands in its TVs - Samsung, LG and AUO. Moreover, Samsung is the best, with a minimum delay, maximum brightness. Yes, and LG is not at all the RGBW with which the shelves of Russian stores are littered.
Unfortunately, there is no system: depending on the batch and model, the buyer of one of the Mi TV 3/4 may have any of them. From the model, only the set changes - 2 or 3 manufacturers. It is possible to say exactly which of the matrices will be in the purchased TV only with careful study.
What about the younger Xiaomi Mi TV 4a 32? There is no official information about the manufacturer and type of matrix. But if you take macro shots, it turns out that for 13 thousand rubles a very good IPS matrix is offered to a Russian buyer! 
We check viewing angles and color inversion - everything is accurate, IPS. Further research only confirms: the matrix is really good, even for a higher price range. The TV has excellent, correct color reproduction (within the limits of what is possible for IPS), good contrast for a budget TV 3000:1
.
An important advantage. On Xiaomi Mi TV 4a 32 it is pleasant not only to watch movies, but also to play: the response of everything 6.5 ms, 60 fps.
Only the resolution let us down: alas, HD (1366x768) is used. Pixels and a grid are imperceptible from a distance of a meter, however - as a monitor it will no longer fit.
In some instances, there may be light in the corners - not critical (in the store, some other TV will not be changed because of them). There are no dead pixels or other distortions. Other than that, it looks like the experiment was a success. 
Xiaomi Mi TV, even a budget one, is head and shoulders above analogues in Russia for its price: this is not Mystery or Haier, but Samsung or LG.
Is the interface normal?
It is the implementation of interfaces that distinguishes a TV from a monitor. One has tuners for analog/digital streaming, the other doesn't.
Unfortunately, for Russia, any Xiaomi TV is closer to the monitor: in China DTMB-broadcasting. Accordingly, there is no suitable tuner. If you connect a conventional antenna to Mi TV 4a, you can only see a black and white image. Cable won't work either. 
Things are good. I (ok, I don’t even have IP TV at all) broadcast cable through the set-top box. And for her, in any Xiaomi Mi TV 4a, there are a lot of connection options, including analog ones (and this is definitely not a single monitor):

- 1 x USB 2.0 (HID),
- 1 x Ethernet (100 Mbps)
All of them work perfectly and meet modern standards. You can connect external manipulators, hubs or drives - even an external drive will pull out 2.5 ?. 
Suddenly: the Xiaomi Mi TV 4a 32 remote control is infrared, although in older models and set-top boxes it works via Bluetooth. At the same time, the form has not changed - almost a copy from Apple TV.
It is worth mentioning the sound. Mi TV 4a 32 has 2 good 10W speakers. You can't arrange a disco, but at maximum volume in a room up to 20 square meters it becomes uncomfortable. At the same time, the sound is clear and high-quality - not bad for such a price.
How does Smart TV work here?
The "mind" of TVs is a separate pride of Xiaomi. All of them are running Android 6.0 with a proprietary MIUI TV add-on. Very comfortable, fast and thoughtful shell.
The hardware performance of Xiaomi Mi TV 4a 32 is tied to a very good bunch of components: Amlogic 962-SX processor, Mali-450 graphics, 1 GB DDR4 RAM and fast 4 GB eMMC 5.1 storage. Everything works perfectly even with 4K (Mi TV will chew everything and show how it can). 
One problem is the Chinese language of the operating system. So she loses almost everything. You have to install English from your smartphone through a proprietary application, and in the same place, with a tambourine, third-party applications.
Because Android in Xiaomi TV is without Google Apps. But with a variety of company applications. When you see them, you begin to understand why these panels cost a penny there - advertising, branded online cinemas, a built-in store for all kinds of Xiaomi purchases. 
We have to sweat a little. As a result, you can replace the launcher, teach the TV to work with free IP TV and online cinemas, and even download torrents. And that's not it.
Firstly, Mi TV 4a works great with AirPlay and Miracast, understands DLNA out of the box and even allows you to directly start downloading on a proprietary router. Secondly, it works with Xiaomi IP cameras in picture-in-picture mode - a real tracking center. Thirdly, the TV is integrated into the Xiaomi smart home.

Why choose Xiaomi TV?
While buying a low-end TV in China seems odd, it makes sense. IPS matrices can only be found in expensive counterparts or monitors. And in general, the image of Xiaomi Mi TV 4a 32 is much better than that of competitors up to 20 thousand.

I was frankly worried about the delivery, because after all, mail, it is mail, and I think many of you have seen how parcels are unloaded ... But they packed very, very well. Well, as you can see, mail is mail, they managed to beat the corners, and I was frankly worried about the contents inside. 
No complaints about the packaging. Very thick cardboard + stiffening ribs inside. 
It would have been worse if this box had been wrapped in cellophane and shipped. Inside the shipping box is an ordinary small box with a cheerful Xiaomi rabbit. 
Since there are quite a lot of different TVs with a diagonal from 32 to 65 inches in the line, only the side sticker and the dimensions of the box change in the package. 
In the upper part of the additional foam protection, the legs of the TV and the remote control are located. 
The screen and the bottom of the TV are also protected by foam inserts. 
The instruction was immediately attached directly to the polyethylene with which the TV is closed. 
The TV can either be hung on the wall, or by attaching the legs, set on a flat surface. At the bottom are two speakers of 6 watts. The sound is normal, the volume is enough, the usual volume when viewing content is 25-30%. 
There are 5 bolts in the kit, although in theory 4 would be enough for the legs =). 
Four anti-slip pads are glued on the legs, the TV stands confidently on them. 
The instruction is all in Chinese, but I think even without it it will be clear what to connect where and how to turn it on. 
The remote control is very similar to the Mi TV Box remote control. But unlike the set-top box, the TV remote control is infrared, not Bluetooth.

It is recommended to scan this QR code and install an application on your smartphone to control the TV. It is quite convenient and functional, but about it a little further. 
Here is such a TV interface from Xiaomi. Everything is in Chinese and absolutely nothing is clear. 
Information about the hardware is available from the settings menu and without installing additional software. 
Since the TV is designed for the Chinese market, all menus and services are also Chinese. 
There is even some kind of VIP entrance for customers with new Chinese films, series, and other kiwi shows.

After selecting English in the settings, almost all applications will automatically switch to this language. Except for a few purely Chinese, for which there is no translation. 
You can use TV without installing additional applications, the player is already there. The main TV manager, where we can clean / install additional applications from a flash drive, or clear the cache, check the network speed and even install an application from the Chinese play store. Of the 8 GB of memory, it is initially available somewhere around 4, but some of it is already occupied by applications. 
Weather works, displays data, but, unfortunately, it only displays data for China. You must select a province or state in China. Unfortunately, it does not know how to display the weather of any other countries, cities and continents. 
Set up Miracast and other Airplay to transfer images, video and sound directly from the mobile phone screen to the TV. 
For lovers of Chinese music, this is paradise - a whole section with a huge number of albums, artists and other hits =) 
After logging into your MiHome account, a list of your smart devices will be displayed in the application of the same name. But, unfortunately, it is not complete, I only displayed the socket and only one camera. There is no gateway, no robotic vacuum cleaners and other lamps. 
But on the other hand, it is convenient to control the boiler, which is connected to a smart outlet, turned on or off with the remote control.

If there was the possibility of obtaining root - this TV could well be called excellent in terms of price / quality.
