China never ceases to amaze with its smartphone models. Just yesterday, many could say about Alcatel phones: "Chinese, nothing interesting and dubious." However, today such a statement would be inappropriate, and this is confirmed by the recently released inexpensive quad-core smartphone Alcatel One Touch POP C7 7041D.

Let's review the Alcatel One Touch POP C7 7041D smartphone. A distinctive feature of this model is not only a 4-core processor (pulls almost all toys) and the Android 4.2.2 operating system, but also reliability, which, in fact, allows Alcatel to compete with world brands, sometimes inferior in quality to the Chinese manufacturer. At the same time, in the pricing policy, the manufacturer is liberal towards buyers.

The Alcatel One Touch POP C7 7041D model for two SIM cards fits comfortably in the hand, although its dimensions are far from small - 71.8x141x9.9 mm with a five-inch display (TFT, resolution 480x854 pixels). Above the screen is a 0.3 MP front camera.

The color scheme of the case starts from the classic white color and reaches bright red, blue, pink and blue. On the right side there are two keys: one turns on the power and locks the screen if necessary, the second adjusts the volume. The manufacturer has adapted the keys to the thumb of the right hand for comfortable control. At the bottom of the display are touch buttons, they are quite sensitive, which allows you to control your smartphone without any delays and freezes.

At the bottom, on the edge, there is a port for a USB cable for recharging the battery, the capacity of which is 1900 mAh, which allows you to use the phone continuously for 8 hours to the maximum, i.е. watch movies or "surf" sites on the Internet. I have already written many times that many B-brands have reached a dead end, producing technically identical devices that look similar to each other. In order to somehow diversify the lineup, they have to invent every time what other additional accessory can please the user: either they put interchangeable panels in the kit, or covers of different shapes and sizes. And Alcatel decided not to bother too much. It does not matter that the smartphone does not differ from other similar ones, the main thing is that there are many colors of cases: here you have a pink cover, and white, and blue, and the most “colorful” one is black :). In general, let's get acquainted with the device, because there will certainly be admirers of this brand.

Design, dimensions, controls

Appearance Alcatel POP C7 is typical for most inexpensive Android smartphones: a rectangular shape with sloping edges, inexpressive front and back panels, plastic and... once again plastic. My impression of the C7 was also slightly spoiled by the fact that the review included a black gadget. I understand that this is a “unisex” type, that is, for both “boys” and “girls”, but over the past few years, black plastic with a soft-touch coating has personally bothered me. Manufacturers, please finally come up with something new!

The dimensions of Alcatel are relatively compact for a "smart" with a five-inch screen diagonal - 141 x 71.8 x 9.9 mm, although the case is still thick. The “miracle” of technology weighs 162 grams, but in the hand it is felt at all 200. I don’t know what increases the weight there: the battery is ordinary, the case is plastic, the screen is a thin piece of glass. However, the smartphone lies well in the hand thanks to the rounded corners, smoothed sides, non-slip surface.

The screen is easily soiled, but fingerprints are removed from it easily and quickly. The marks on the back are almost invisible. The display is protected by glass, so after a few weeks of use, not a single scratch appeared on it.

The body is well made. Didn't notice any squeaks or backlashes. The back cover does not bend to the battery, it does not crunch when squeezed.

On the front panel, at the top left, there is an indicator of missed events. It blinks or lights up white. To the right of it is a speech speaker. Its volume is high, low and medium frequencies are heard, the timbre is not the most pleasant - deaf, but does not cause irritation, the interlocutor is heard relatively clearly and legibly, you are also heard well. To the right of the speaker are light and proximity sensors. They respond quickly and work correctly.

At the bottom end - micro-USB, at the top - a standard 3.5 mm jack. There are no elements on the left, on the right, just above the center, there is a power button and a volume rocker. Both are practically recessed into the case, however, they are easily groped.

Speakerphone, hidden behind the bars, the camera, slightly rising above the body, the second microphone for noise reduction and flash are located on the back of the device.

The sensitivity is not bad: indoors it finds one or two satellites, near the window - up to 8 almost immediately, outdoors the device instantly finds more than 8 satellites. I did not observe any problems with GPS, everything works fine.

Inside installed 512 MB of RAM. On average, a little less than 200 MB is free. 4 GB are allocated for data storage, of course, about two are free. There is a slot for a memory card. The maximum volume is 32 GB.

Camera

As befits a real “android”, Alcatel C7 has two cameras: the main one is 5 MP, the front one is 0.3 MP. There is a small LED flash.

The quality of the camera is mediocre, low resolution and a narrow dynamic range affect. However, the white balance is correct in most situations, the shooting speed is fast, and the accuracy is good. For an inexpensive phone, it's fine.

Both the front and rear cameras have an aperture of F2.8.

The camera can record FullHD video at 30 frames per second, which is good news. There is autofocus. The sound is mono, clear. The "front" camera records video in 640x480 resolution at 20 fps.

Performance and software platform

Most of these devices have a Taiwanese MediaTek chip. Smartphone Alcatel OneTouch C7 is no exception. It uses the most common MT6582 chipset among state employees recently: a Cortex-A7 processor, 28 nm, 4 cores at 1.3 GHz, a Mali-400MP2 graphics accelerator with a clock frequency of 400 MHz.

For comfortable operation of the device, this processor is more than enough. There are problems with games, but only with powerful ones like Asphalt 8. The device does not bug, does not slow down, and works relatively smoothly.

The device has an operating system Google Android ancient version 4.2.2. I'm not sure that 4.3 will be released, and even more so 4.4. The camera takes great pictures in normal lighting, autofocus works perfectly, so it’s suitable for some everyday shots. Initially, it was embarrassing that there was only 512 MB of RAM, but in reality it turned out to be not very noticeable, if you did not require some kind of sky-high performance indicators from the smart. The battery also holds very well, you just have to treat it adequately, of course, it will not work for days .. but from morning until late at night, with moderate use, it freely holds a charge. I was also initially embarrassed by the fact that android 4.2.2 was quite old at the time of purchase (autumn 2015), but again it turned out that due to the refinement of the interface, the manufacturer achieved that the android version became much more convenient, functional and definitely very beautiful.

Flaws:

of the shortcomings, I can only note that a lot of superfluous things were installed from the box on the smart, which affected the speed of work. Naturally, they affected the speed of work .. I had to get root rights and clean the phone from them. after cleaning, the speed of work increased significantly and no longer caused any complaints.
