Oukitel K4000 Pro review - the pros and cons of a smartphone. Oukitel K4000: review, specifications, reviews

As many may have already noticed, Oukitel continues to update last year's smartphone models of all its main lines. I have already used the K4000 Pro (2016) and it is worth saying that it did not make a particularly good impression on me. Mainly due to the discrepancy between the price of $140 and the resulting characteristics, when the K4000 series models are considered by Oukitel to be the usual “middle peasants”. Today, I have in my hands a 2017 model with the prefix “Plus” in the name and, finally, having a very appropriate price category - $ 90. In principle, what is usually the situation with updated smartphones? They installed a different version of the processor, updated the screen, added memory and for sale. Everything could be exactly right here. But no - Oukitel went further and, in addition to some improvements, equipped the smartphone with its own launcher with a focus on user data security. They called it Oukitel OS 1.0 (based on Android 6.0). Who cares what happened -

Characteristics. It was impossible to mention past models and not make a comparison of their main characteristics, so I suggest you familiarize yourself :)
(clickable)

It cannot be said that the new model technical specifications far gone from its predecessors - the smartphone received an improved version of the processor with only a slightly increased clock speed, an overclocked video accelerator and the same amount of memory 2 / 16Gb. The screen on the characteristics also has not changed. Battery - from model to model varies within 4000mAh, as evidenced by the name of the model. As a result, Oukitel OS remains the most interesting in the updated smartphone.

>> Packing and scope of supply.

Oukitel never departs from the familiar and traditional bright orange box. Other smartphones of the company are supplied exactly the same.

Inside, it’s not to say that it’s empty, but: if in the kit for an older model for the entire configuration there was a place, then here it is provided, but only without the accessories themselves :). This only confirms that the boxes for all smartphones are the same, except that they are filled in differently. One of the departments should have OTG cable, and in a special place for a paper clip (which is for removing the SIM tray) there is nothing - because there is no SIM tray here.

As a result, inside the box is: power supply, USB wire for him, documentation and a silicone case, originally already installed on the smartphone.

More about the kit. Of course, a transparent silicone case in a small protruding “dot” deserves special attention. The presence of any case in general in the kit is quite nice, because in which case, the smartphone can be protected. And it’s not even necessary to wear it all the time, just the fact that in the “high risk” zone you can put something on your smartphone without the hassle of looking for something on Ali and then several weeks of languid waiting.

What can be said about him? It greatly increases the size of an already not the smallest smartphone (for its diagonal and the ratio of usable area) and using a smartphone becomes not as comfortable as without it.

More photos with case

From the back, the smartphone takes on a completely different look:

After so many words about the case, there is not much to say about other accessories: the power supply is standard, 5V / 1.5A, and the manufacturer itself does not declare special fast charging technologies, even despite the capacious 4100mAh battery.

The quick guide is still nice useful information:)

>> Appearance.

I note that no matter how the smartphone differs from its predecessors in the press photo, the real differences are only in the redesigned front panel and lid, with a slightly different texture. That is, the previous model is clearly taken as the basis. But if you do not pay attention to this and summarize, then the K4000 Plus does not deviate from the latest trends and looks quite modern for a mid-range budget employee (as it is positioned by Oukitel) in 2017.

And I think it's time to show it in "full glory" :)

Facial and back panel smartphone:

As I said - a typical modern state employee. In the review, I have a pure black version of the smartphone, but in addition to it, there is a white and gold version. Actually, it is white that is most often put up as a “face”, where the manufacturer did a very good job of reducing the frames. In general, I have long noticed that Oukitel does not hesitate to use Photoshop, so before buying, you must definitely look for real photo devices. Fortunately, often next to the "embellished" photos there are real ones. I don't understand the logic, but oh well :)

Now let's take a closer look at the smartphone. I'll start in order - from the front panel, in the upper part of which there is a front camera peephole, a pair of sensors (lighting and proximity), a speaker and an unforgettable LED indicator.
In addition to everything listed in the photo, you can also see a perfectly pasted factory film. It is worth saying that it is quite possible to count it as a minus - it is not very pleasant to use a smartphone when there is such a disgrace in front of your eyes, and there is no spare one in the kit. You have to either put up with it or go without it. Or try to find something on Ali, but somehow it does not add joy when you could do without it.

But be that as it may, I'll move on to the bottom of the front panel to admire the mechanical home button with an integrated fingerprint scanner. Particularly attentive people will pay attention to the frame between the display and this button - a second button could fit there with a big stretch. And somewhere in the photo, Oukitel practically does not have this frame, that's it :)

In we got to the edges. On the top there is only a 3.5mm headphone jack and a plastic insert for better signal reception:

On the bottom there is only MicroUSB, a microphone and two more plastic inserts:

On the right side there is traditionally a volume rocker and a power button. They want to pay extra attention - the buttons are pressed precisely, but there is a feeling that this pressing is too "soft". They seem to go deep into the body and come back with little effort. You need to get used to this. And on the buttons, a thin metallic coating is applied, which after some time will definitely begin to peel off and slowly expose the metal underneath.

Left side is empty:

As for the back cover, it should be said right away that it is removable. It is made of the most ordinary plastic and slips a little in the hand, since no coating has been applied to it. In the upper part there is a slightly protruding, approximately 0.5mm, camera eye and a flash.

At the bottom - a speaker and the Oukitel logo with certificates.

The cover is removed thanks to a special border, and is removed with little effort - you need to be careful. But it keeps well, and after several removals, the installed cover still sits tightly without any backlash and even unnecessary creaking. And here is what awaits us under the hood:

As one might expect - a removable cover = a removable battery, but that was not the case - in the usual place of the battery there is a steel plate, which, in fact, covers it. Of course, the sense of removable battery in a not very popular smartphone - a little, because it will not be so easy to find a spare on sale, and even with a small selection, the prices will not be very pleasant. But nonetheless, this decision manufacturer is not clear.

But let's continue: there are also two SIM slots under the cover, where one of the slots can be used for MicroSD.

***

The quality of materials and assembly. I have already touched on many aspects of these points before. I can only add about the presence of small, almost microscopic, chips on the polished case frame. This is not unusual - when used, scratches will immediately appear on it, but without a thorough inspection it will be difficult to see them. But here it is tiny chips from the box. In the photo below I tried to show what it is about, but you can understand that there is nothing particularly serious here:

I also took a series of macro shots of some parts of the body (where dust is also very clearly visible):

And here you can clearly see the most sloppy joint of the steel frame:

Having examined the case in great detail, and having shown a lot to you, I can still say that there are no major flaws in its assembly. All details sit firmly and make a good impression.

And it would seem that nothing should affect the experience of using a smartphone, but I did not mention others. important parameters- the smartphone has a large thickness (almost 11mm) and a weight of 215 grams. For a medium-sized smartphone with a diagonal of 5 "it feels too much. The manufacturer clearly did not bother trying to reduce these parameters - only in the photo with the cover removed you can see that free space full and, if desired, the smartphone could be made more compact. As a result, the “long-liver”, as the Oukitel smartphone positions, with a 4100mAh battery, when many analogues with less weight and dimensions from Xiaomi have even a larger capacity, turns out to be a “record holder” in terms of unused space. The smartphone could definitely have more mAh "s at its disposal :)

Nevertheless, the smartphone sits well in the hand and even convenient:

*
*
*

Firstly, the colors clearly go into cold shades. You can consider this a feature of IPS, but from my own experience I know that IPS is also quite pleasing to the eye, it is immediately skewed to the cold side, which is clearly visible on a white background. Despite this, when you first look at the screen, nothing else catches your eye:

Almost not a single smartphone in my hands is left without a review of the film :)
If you forget about the terrible sticking, the film noticeably changes the image. It becomes...
Do you know the "grain" effect in photo editors? Here is an image that looks something like this. This is almost imperceptible, but when compared with a display without a film, the difference is visible. Therefore, I would recommend removing it altogether.
(the photo is just an example, since the dust could not be removed normally. It is directly attracted to the smartphone and the film)

The maximum and minimum brightness of the display is not very large. It will be difficult to read something in the sun, and at night the screen will blind your eyes until you get used to it. Viewing angles correspond to IPS matrices and with strong deviations, colors are almost not inverted. But the cheapness of the installed matrix still affects and dark shades at a certain angle turn into bluish-violet. Unfortunately, the photo didn't do it justice.

>> Operating system and "Oukitel OS1.0".

The smartphone is built on the basis of the 6th version of android with the Oukitel shell installed on top. For some reason, the company called it an operating system, and even it is written in the OS column, and not an android, but in fact, of course, this is an ordinary android with a shell that most modern branded smartphones have. Well, it's certainly not a separate Oukitel OS. The Chinese like to exaggerate :)

And this is how it looks after turning on the smartphone (not counting the other picture):

Available themes (they differ only in wallpapers and some icons):

What can be said? Personally, I see a lot of similarities with third-party shells here. The curtain is mostly taken from MIUI (Xiaomi), who, in turn, created it not without inspiration from iOS. There is no application menu - everything, again, is based on motives. It is worth mentioning the lock screen - there can be nothing original here, so the manufacturer offers a “slide to the right”. What else has changed from pure android? Removed all multitasking. Here I would like to say that it is not entirely clear why Oukitel released a new smartphone based on the sixth version of android, and not the seventh, when the K6000 Plus, similar to the announcement, came out on Android 7.0.

In order not to try to describe everything directly, I will continue to show screenshots of the “local” interface:

Desktop setup. Which has, by the way, even a choice of scroll effect:

Navigation buttons, as will be seen in the screenshots below, can be hidden with just one click. To bring them back, you need to swipe from the bottom of the screen. In principle, the buttons almost always return to their place and everything works as it should. But when swiping, what is on the screen often scrolls. And it’s worth saying that this hiding is useless - in applications they are already hidden.

All settings:

Information about the system (also on the last screenshot you can see an error indicating that the smartphone has 0GB random access memory):

At the time of writing the review, the latest released version of the firmware was installed. What else is interesting, the manufacturer, apparently, almost opened new technology - « smart installation updates based on an intelligent algorithm. What in fact means only the auto-update function :)

Let's continue. Of course, they made their Oukitel shell, but once again they decided not to worry about the translation. Such pumping from one Chinese smartphone on another function, like "gestures", everything remains in English. In the information about the smartphone, too, almost half of the points are not translated. The same thing is in the smartphone shutdown menu, which could be seen a little earlier. And there are many more places where you can find traces in English, which, in principle, is not at all critical, as everything can be understood intuitively. In addition to Chinese in the paragraph about the battery. Yes, I was not mistaken - in the settings you can find the Chinese language, also in a fairly often-used column. This is very unpleasant and the only salvation is to switch system language from Russian to English, which, whatever one may say, will be easier than with Chinese.

Gestures, by the way, work well and have many customization options:

What else can be found interesting in the settings? You can find a lot here, another thing is that everything is practically useless. The smartphone even has a separate settings item, where “special features” are collected. I suggest that you familiarize yourself with them, but personally I did not find anything interesting and useful for myself there:

***

Particularly attentive (and even not very attentive) might have already noticed that right out of the box there are just a lot of pre-installed applications. And not some Facebooks there, but, I’m not ashamed to say, garbage in the form of various “cleaners” and frosts. There is so much in the system connected with this that there is a strong feeling of imposition. And not in vain - the main feature of this “Oukitel OS "is the security of user data and, as you might have guessed, it consists of separate applications. Yes, this inspires confidence :)

Actually, the application called "data safe" looks very serious. But it depends on which screenshot to look at - the last one clearly shows some kind of nervousness.

By the way, in this application, by default, you can’t even take screenshots, which is doubly strange when there is nothing “secret” here. After all, all that an application can do is run applications in supposedly "safe" mode. It looks something like this:

In fact, I did not find more useful functions for protecting user data. Although a "privacy" application could be found on the desktop, in which it was possible to lock the desktop with a password. That is, do the same thing that is already available initially in android. But after trying to set it up, the icon disappeared and did not appear anywhere else. I will assume that I did or understood something wrong. But apart from what was shown below, there was nothing:

I think it's time to show the "proprietary" CandyWall application store and a program for transferring data from one device to another.

It is better not to look at the screenshots below for the faint of heart:

And not without "quick access" to the main functions of the smartphone using a special icon. To tell the truth, I have been looking for a long time what it is and how to disable it, because this icon was active right out of the box.

***

Pro operating system and its features turned out to be written a little more than I planned. Nevertheless, the Chinese added a lot of things here, although in the end it turned out that it would be better if they left everything as it is and nothing would change. But what about the system? Despite all the superfluous, the smartphone works smoothly and correspondingly to a clean sixth android. There is really nothing to complain about. In terms of speed, a smartphone, for example, is in no way inferior to my Nexus 5X, which for Chinese budget smartphone a few years ago and did not dream. As I said somewhere, this is a great merit of Google, since with each new version The OS is affected by overall system optimization. The only thing left for the Chinese is not to spoil anything :)

Separately, I would like to highlight that in two weeks of use there was only one glitch - one application was not downloaded in the Play Market - the Epic Citadel benchmark. For some unknown reason, the download hung and did not progress further. There were no crashes or detailed ones.

>> Tests.

Since the conversation turned to benchmarks, we will continue about them. But first a little help- MTK MT6737 acts as a smartphone processor, which is an improved version of not the newest MT6735. There are 4 cores that operate at a frequency of 1.3GHz (as opposed to 1.0GHz for the MT6735P). The video accelerator is a dual-core Mali-T720 with a frequency of 600MHz, which is also slightly higher than the video accelerator in previous models, where it was 400MHz. The memory is not outstanding - 16GB ROM and 2GB RAM, but this is more than enough for this stuffing. And for the price, it's too early to want something more.

Everything eventually squeezes out 29 thousand points in the Antutu test.
(clickable)

Let's take a look at CPU-Z, which usually messes with the diagonal:

And I will complete the "cognitive" tests on Aida:

Let's move on to more solid benchmarks. I don’t see much point in testing a smartphone, so here are just the main ones, namely 3D Mark:

And Geekbench:

***

Communications. Here, too, I will not linger for a long time - Wi-Fi and GPS are working, already good :). Seriously, Wi-Fi even surprised me a little - in the speed test it shows some very good results. But there is no support for 5GHz, according to the standard. GPS, in turn, was not so surprising - even on the street, it looked for satellites for a long time, for about a minute, and in the end found only 11. Everything is the same in the apartment, but there were half as many - 6 pieces. Therefore, a smartphone is not the most suitable option for the role of a separate navigator, at least you should not count on it as its quality.

Screenshots (along with standard screen settings for two SIM cards):

*
*
*

>> Camera.

The smartphone’s camera was not particularly promoted, that is, no “Sony inside” was mentioned. All that can be learned without disassembling the smartphone and without examining it from the inside is that the main camera module is installed at 13MP (interpretation of interpolation from 8MP) and the front camera at 5MP (interpolation from two). Say it's still not clear practical benefit such interpolation - to say nothing.

But the screenshots below, with the most standard camera application, will say a lot more:

Surprisingly, by choosing the "full screen" mode, which should be called 16:9, you will not lose in megapixels - there will still be the same interpreted 13mp. Chinese magic :)

There was no need to pin hopes, therefore, even in conditions of ideal illumination, on the street and in clear weather, the pictures are not entirely encouraging. The shots show a strong soap to avoid strong oversharpening (which is best seen in the source files), there is no HDR mode in the camera, therefore (albeit for unknown reasons) even with such a simple landscape as below, there is a strong overexposure of the sky. But glare / overexposure is half the battle - the camera has quite a lot of chromatic aberrations. And at the output we get this:

Sometimes it is possible to get something similar to the real sky without strong overexposure:

And sometimes not:

Macro quality could be better, but you can get something.

The video is filmed in prehistoric 3gp and maximum 720p.

>> Battery.

After all, the battery in this smartphone is not the last. Of course, you won’t surprise anyone with a capacity of 4100mAh, but you can’t call them insufficient either. What is generally known about him, not counting the capacity and lack of fast charging? The manufacturer claims about the SCUD battery, and from the advertising photos it becomes clear only that it has protection against unwanted actions.

I will not stagnate and start with personal experience: I almost always test the standby mode first. And this smartphone made a good impression - for almost three full days in standby mode with Wi-Fi on and occasional screen turns on, the smartphone lost only 20% in capacity. Naturally, the discharge is a little over night - only 2% in 12 hours. I have often seen smartphones with a high consumption in standby mode, so I treat this with caution. After all, it’s unpleasant to find a discharged smartphone in your pocket when you didn’t use it at all.

What about active work - here it must be said that the smartphone does not have the ability to view information about the duration of the operation of individual applications. It is not at all clear to me why the Chinese removed this feature in their Oukitel OS, when it is still available in pure android. As a result, there are only personal feelings here - after a long downtime, I began to actively use my smartphone, doing tests in benchmarks, installing programs, insisting on the system, and all at maximum brightness and Wi-Fi. Then I turned on the video on Youtube. The smartphone was discharged to zero only in the evening, after 4 hours. As a result, the life cycle was a decent four days, when the screen was in use for at least 6 hours.

Charging the battery lasts more than 2.5 hours. And this is what the LED indicator looks like:

*
*
*

>> Conclusion.

Pros:
- assembly and materials
- Availability LED indicator
- system optimization. The manufacturer miraculously, one might say, did not spoil anything
- the stuffing is good. Normal processor and 2/16GB.
- no communication problems, loud speaker
- battery

Minuses:
- camera (at least a terrible interface)
- smartphone for its 5" is too big
- when English slips - you can close your eyes to it. But not in Chinese
- there are a lot of "junk" applications, which, unfortunately, are considered part of "Oukitel OS"

Actually… what is the Oukitel K4000 Plus? From last year's model in the form of K4000 Pro, the smartphone, at least, received a more human price tag, without losing anything in terms of characteristics or other parameters. Here the smartphone has a good assembly, an attractive design with a fingerprint scanner (which I didn’t mention, but which works quite well), although the slightly awkward dimensions ask for cons. The truth here is to say that last year's model was even worse in this regard. But I will continue - you can only find fault with the screen. For its cost, the matrix, although not without drawbacks, is not bad. The battery can still be considered a good plus of the smartphone - it justifies its 4100mAh. What should be paid more attention to is the system - the manufacturer positions the smartphone as a protector of your data, and in the end we get a set unnecessary applications, which even the system, Oukitel OS, cannot be called in any way. Translation problems are also not the most pleasant. If we continue to talk about disappointments - the K4000 Plus camera could be much better if the Chinese would at least work on the application.

But, despite all this, the smartphone came out quite balanced for its $ 90. Though not without downsides.

Thank you all for your attention :)

Oukitel has released an amazingly durable and functional device. The K4000 can literally hammer nails. However, what else is the device capable of?

Design

Phone Oukitel K4000 got the most ordinary appearance. The manufacturer abandoned flashy solutions and made the device in a standard style. However, against the background of state employees, the device still looks very solid and elegant.

The device is made of metal and, of course, plastic. Although familiar materials are used, the device received as much as 204 grams of weight. Perhaps the reason for this is durable glass, designed for protection, or metal inserts, but the device is heavy.

Considerable weight greatly affects the use. When working for a long time, the hand gets tired. A little brightens up the situation by not allowing the phone to slip out. It also protects the device from fingerprints and dust.

The external parts of the Oukitel K4000 also appeared in the usual places. A review of the front side made it possible to detect sensors, a speaker, a screen, a front camera, and controls. The left side of the phone is empty, and on the right side there is a volume control along with a power button. The bottom end is designed for a microphone and a USB jack, and the top one is only for a headset jack.

Not improved design and a small number of colors. Model K4000 is supplied only in black and white versions.

Camera

Smartphone Oukitel K4000 received a main camera of 13 megapixels. Unfortunately, this resolution is only on paper, in reality it can be equated to 8 MP. This feature is also indicated in the information to the device.

Naturally, eight megapixels are enough for the state employee. In good lighting, the device takes decent pictures. However, it is not possible to shoot in the dark. The flash in the phone is not very powerful and is not able to provide the necessary lighting.

The Oukitel K4000 front camera also attracts attention. The review of the front camera will please with a matrix of 5 megapixels. The front camera of the phone will cope not only with video calls, but also with self-portraits. The pictures lack detail, and there is also noise, but the quality is acceptable.

Display

Oukitel K4000 became the owner of a five-inch screen. The number of ppi did not disappoint either: as much as 294 pixels. On a state employee, a resolution of 1280 by 720 is a rare occurrence. It is it that provides high ppi and high-quality images.

In the sun, the screen behavior is quite acceptable. There is a slight loss of brightness, but this is not critical for the Oukitel K4000. The visibility of the corners is also improved due to the IPS matrix.

There is also additional protection, or rather 2.5D glass. The display resists shock without any problems. Leaving a scratch will also be very difficult.

Hardware

The MTK chip was chosen for the role of the processor in the K4000 - a quite expected solution for a budget device. The processor has four cores, each of which runs at one gigahertz frequency.

The video accelerator of the device was the Mali-T720 chip. The device received two gigabytes of RAM. Native memory was also enough. The user was provided with 16 gigabytes, as well as the ability to install a flash drive.

autonomy

The smartphone boasts not only its durability, but also the duration of work. The manufacturer equipped his brainchild with a battery of as much as 4000 maH.

Using the device for 5-6 hours a day, the user can not worry about charging for two days. Such autonomy is difficult to meet even among the flagships. Oukitel really thought through every little detail in their creation.

Price

The cost has drawn a lot of attention to the Oukitel K4000. Market review reports that the price ranges from 9 to 11 thousand rubles. For shockproof and feature phone, the cost looks more than democratic.

Oukitel breaks stereotypes. Now, if they say about your phone that they can hammer nails, this will most likely mean that you bought yourself a new product from this brand - the original Oukitel K4000. It is announced by the manufacturers as a super durable, very powerful and in all respects a modern phone.

Do you often drop your favorite smartphone and are afraid of cracks and chips? Oukitel turns fragile equipment into something with which you can not only make calls, but also carry out minor repairs.

Joking aside, the reliability of this smartphone is really very high. In the presentation material of the company, we see a real crash test: they hit the body with a hammer, they use the phone instead of a hammer, literally hammering nails with it, a car drives along Okitel, and so on. It's nice that both the case and the display glass are protected. With all this, Oukitel K4000, which you can buy in Moscow using our website, is also a functional, full-fledged smartphone with great potential.

The device has an excellent quad-core MediaTek MT6735P with a clock speed of 1 GHz and a “tandem” with 2 gigabytes of RAM. The actual memory for storing user information is 16 gigabytes, but this figure is expandable via a microSD card. The smartphone "looks at the world" with a five-inch display (720p format). A capacious 4000 mAh battery will allow you not to recharge your smartphone for several days (to be precise - more than two days with active use and about five days under average load conditions).

At the same time, the price of Oukitel K4000 is quite low for a device of this class.

Today, using the K4000 smartphone as an example, we will get acquainted with OUKITEL. The device received a certain share of fame thanks to the company's promotional video, in which nails were hammered with a smartphone. In the review, we will tell you what else it is suitable for.

The device comes in an orange box. Inside, apart from the phone, there is Charger with a current of 1 A, USB cable, a simple vacuum headset, paper documentation and a matte plastic case. The case looks very cheap, but it's good that it exists at all.

Appearance and usability

Before getting to know appearance you should know that the cost of the device is about $120. So you need to be more indulgent to the phone, you won't find anything new in terms of design for this money, but first things first.

Dimensions K4000 can not be called compact - 146 x 70.6 x 11 mm, and weight - 204 grams. This is one of the heaviest smartphones we've ever seen. Wearing such a brick is not very convenient, even in autumn (in a jacket), not to mention summer.

OUKITEL K4000 is available in two colors - white and black. We got the black version.

The front panel is covered with rounded glass. At the top of the panel is front-camera, proximity sensors and automatic brightness control, as well as a conversational speaker. Three touch keys are traditionally located under the screen.

On the sides of the body is a metal frame. It is done very sloppily. On the lower and upper ends, the plastic antenna separators protrude significantly. The left side does not contain any keys. On the right is the volume rocker and the power button. They wobble a lot and have a short but distinct stroke that is accompanied by a click. At the top, there is only a 3.5 mm audio jack. On the bottom - microUSB and microphone.

Like most budget phones, back cover removable. It is made of soft-touch plastic. Thanks to this, fingerprints are not visible. Removing the cover reveals a 4000mAh battery, two microSIM slots and a microSD card slot.

As mentioned above, the main problem of a smartphone is a lot of weight. The remaining dimensions, although not minimal, are tolerable - you can work with a smartphone with one hand.

Screen

OUKITEL K4000 is equipped with a 5-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720. Automatic brightness control works correctly. There is no air gap. Pasted on the screen from the box protective film. The screen itself is somewhat rounded, of course, not like on the iPhone 6/6s, but similar. The maximum brightness is 421 cd/m2, the minimum is 18.7 cd/m2. Contrast - 1 to 535.

On the street, the screen behaves well. Yes, the colors fade in direct sunlight, but in general the information remains readable.

The color triangle does not match sRGB. Green becomes light green, and blue becomes purple. The color temperature is much higher than the reference value of 6500K. There is a predominance of blue over the rest.

Subjectively, the screen is not as bad as it turned out according to the measurements. Calibration is far from ideal, but for the undemanding user, the screen will seem good, especially considering the price.

Hardware platform

The smartphone is powered by a MediaTek MT6735P quad-core processor. Each ARM Cortex-A53 core runs at a maximum frequency of 1 GHz. The video accelerator is ARM Mali-T720. The amount of RAM is 2 GB, and built-in 16 GB. As you can see, the same platform is used as that of or .

In synthetic tests, the device shows modest results. But in everyday use sufficient performance for smooth operation social networks and casual games. You won't be able to play demanding games on it. This phone is for those who are not interested in games. Also unlike powerful smartphones The hero of the review does not suffer from excessive heating.

OUKITEL K4000 supports two SIM-cards of microSIM format. It is stated that the first card can work in the 3G standard, and the second only in 2G. 3G data transfer speed is good.

There is support for Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and GPS. Wi-Fi 802.11ac is not supported. But the FM receiver has not gone anywhere. During the work, there were no problems with receiving a cellular and Wi-Fi signal. The search for satellites occurs, although not instantly, but not for long, even without using the Internet.

The quality of communication in the phone is average. The speaker sometimes distorts speech somewhat, making the interlocutor's voice higher than it really is. Otherwise, no problems were noticed.

Operating system and shell

Unlike top manufacturers, OUKITEL did not use a tricky shell in the K4000. Here we see Android 5.1.1 with redesigned icons. Unfortunately, changing the icons to stock will not work. So future users will have to get used to the somewhat cartoonish style.

Minimum pre-installed applications. Among them, it is worth highlighting TouchLetters. The program has three points. The first is Smart WakeUp. You can set the screen to wake up and quick launch applications.

For example, if you write the letter C on the lock screen, you can launch the dialer app. In total, you can set actions for the letters c, o, m, e, w, z, v, s, slide up and slide down. It is important to remember that not only the launch of pre-installed applications is available in the settings, but also any installed ones, which is very convenient. The possibility of waking up the smartphone by double tapping on the screen has not gone away.

In the Air Shuffle item, the hand wave control is configured. This type of control is available for applications gallery, launcher, music, camera and FM radio.

Since the phone is not equipped with additional sensors, which are found on Motorola devices, the correct operation is, frankly, bad.

Tritium and the last point - Screenon Gesture.

It contains the setting for locking the phone by double pressing the home touch key and a gesture for creating a screenshot.

As a result, we have the opportunity to customize the management for ourselves in a very interesting way. What I liked the most was turning on the screen by double tapping and locking by double pressing the home key.

Camera

Due to the low cost of a smartphone, its photo and video capabilities are actually very modest. The main camera has a resolution of 13 megapixels. It can shoot video in HD resolution (1280x720) pixels. Frontal 5 megapixel with a maximum resolution of VGA video recording.

There are HDR modes, beautiful face, live photo, panorama. In the depth of settings, it is possible to manually set the white balance, color effect and exposure.

Photos taken in automatic mode

Photo quality is below average. When the image is enlarged, the aggressive work of noise reduction is clearly visible. Because of this, detail suffers.

autonomy

OUKITEL K4000 is equipped with a 4000 mAh battery - this is one of the advantages of the phone. Unfortunately, out of all the benchmarks, only in AnTuTu Battery Test the smartphone was able to give a result. PCMark Battery was freezing after a while, GeekBench worked similarly. But synthetic tests are one thing, and real use is quite another.

The phone confidently held on for two days with an active screen indicator of 6 hours and one hour of talk time. At the same time, two SIM-cards were installed in the phone, one of them worked in the 3G network to access the Internet. Messengers and social networks were the main source of load.

Results

OUKITEL K4000 is a smartphone for not spoiled user, not everyone will like the big weight and thickness. The advantage will be a metal frame, battery capacity, a plastic case in the kit, close to the stock interface with the ability to adjust the control for yourself, as well as the price. Despite all its shortcomings, the smartphone turned out to be quite good. But we didn’t test it for endurance, hammering nails into it or running it over with a car, since this is hardly suitable for normal daily use, especially since the survivability of any smartphone is a matter of luck, even a protected smartphone can be damaged due to an unsuccessful fall.
