Like cleaning your computer of junk. Clean your computer of junk and unnecessary files. Remove unnecessary programs from startup

Comments on the entry: 5

Hi all! In this article, I will show you a proven program that cleans your computer of junk.

Every user sooner or later needs to clean up the computer from garbage. Garbage appears for all users, if it is not there yet, then it will still be there. When constantly working with the operating system or programs in it, it creates temporary files for itself and does not delete them after work. Because of this, the computer starts to slow down, hang, and even worse if it leads to a blue screen.

We will introduce a speech about the Ccleaner utility. Why am I using it? Because it's safe, reliable, and functional enough, there's nothing superfluous to clean up your PC. Why do I say safe, because some utilities can be cleaned this way, which will lead to a reinstallation of windows. And you can safely use this utility. And you can clean it with just one click, in one click!

And now we'll talk about how to get rid of this unnecessary and malicious garbage, using a program to clean your computer from garbage. After all, sometimes you want to get speed from a computer!

Program installation

Download the utility for cleaning your computer from garbage:

First, choose the Russian language

Select the required items. I have installed the ones I need.

Click install and that's it.

The computer can be cleaned using programs, as well as manually removing garbage. And in this article we will talk about how to clean the computer with the help of the program.

We launch the installed program. After starting, we immediately get into the window for cleaning the computer from garbage. On the left, select the items, and on the right, click the analysis button to start. After the analysis, if everything suits you, click cleaning.

Don't forget to check the second tab of the app. If you do not pay attention to this item, you can delete saved passwords, history, browser session, etc.

If everything is fine, then click cleaning.

Also in this program there is a registry cleaner. It does not deeply affect the registry, so it is better to choose a specialized program for cleaning the registry.

Cleaning the registry follows the same pattern. Just click search for problems, and then fix it.

This program has other useful features, such as cleaning startup, browsers, removing programs, duplicates, etc. But this is another story.

That's all, if the computer still slows down, you need to do manual cleaning, as described here, or check for viruses with your chosen antivirus.

In fact, there are a lot of computer cleaning programs, but not all of them conscientiously cope with their task, and some can lead to a system crash. Here is a google poll where people voted for computer cleaning software.

How to clean up C drive: effective ways to remove junk from your PC

Computers are so ingrained in our lives that it is simply impossible to imagine a world without them. Despite this, many users do not know how to take care of their "iron horse". For example, not everyone knows how to clear drive C. This article will help fill the gap in knowledge.

Why clean drive C?

Filling up the system disk can lead to a number of inconveniences. If there is not enough space on the C drive, the following problems may occur:

  • You cannot install new programs;
  • No room for operating system updates;
  • Decreased PC speed.

The first problem is easily solved. If there is not enough space on the C drive, then you can install new programs to other partitions (D, E, etc.). But what to do with the second and third points? There is only one way out - you need to clean the system disk. How can this be done? How to free up space on C drive? The answer can be found in this article.

How to free up space on the system drive?

Many people do not have the slightest idea about how to clean up the local C drive. People mistakenly believe that this is very difficult. Cleaning your computer is a quick and easy process that does not require any specialized IT knowledge. However, this procedure should not be neglected. Cleaning the system disk should be done at least once a month.

There are many ways that allow you to clean your computer from garbage. We will consider the most effective ones in this article. Before starting, it should be noted that the methods below can be used to clean the C drive from garbage on windows 10, windows 7 and other versions of this OS.

Removing unnecessary programs manually

Of course, software takes up the most space. Therefore, when it is required to clean the C drive from garbage, first of all, attention should be paid to the software.

How to clean C drive from unnecessary files? To uninstall the program, you need to use the built-in windows utility. To start it, you need to enter the "Start" menu and select the "Control Panel" item in the drop-down tab. Then you need to go to the "Uninstall programs" section.

A new window will open containing information about all the programs that are on the computer. They can be sorted by size, date or title. What can be removed? First of all, software that is not used at all is subject to uninstallation. As a rule, these are completed games. In order to remove the program, right-click on it, after which the corresponding tab will appear.

Built-in windows utility

You can free your computer from garbage using the standard windows utility. This is done very simply. You need to go to the "Computer" and right-click on the disk that we will clean. In the drop-down list, click on the "Properties" item, after which a new window opens with information about the memory section. We are interested in the "General" tab. We go there and click on the "Disk Cleanup" button.

The built-in utility will begin to analyze the data and look for unnecessary files. This will take a certain amount of time. After the program analyzes the computer's memory, it will display a list of unnecessary files. They need to be ticked and then click "OK".

You won't free up a lot of memory in this way, but you can win a couple of tens of megabytes.

Temporary files

To carry out the correct installation or update of programs, antiviruses, etc. temporary files are created on the computer. The operating system stores them in the Temp folder, which is located on drive C. Temporary files are not needed for the daily work of programs. Therefore, software that uses intermediate resources removes them automatically after the installation or update is completed.

However, sometimes there is a failure due to which temporary files are not deleted. This leads to the fact that the Temp folder begins to gradually become clogged and take up more and more space on the system disk. To fix this, you need to delete the intermediate files manually. This is done very simply. You need to go to the Temp folder, which is located at "Computer"> Drive C> windows folder. To free up space on drive C, uninstall the contents of this folder.

In Windows 10, Windows 7 and other versions of the OS, there are two folders for storing temporary files. You can get to the second one through the Start menu. You just need to enter the search query %Temp%. The folder needs to be opened and cleaned. It is worth noting that sometimes the operating system may issue a warning that some files are not deleted. This indicates that they are currently being used by some program. If such a message appears, then simply click the "Skip" button.

"Basket"

"Recycle Bin" is a special folder that is a temporary storage for deleted files. Everything that is stored there takes up computer memory. Therefore, the "Basket" must be cleaned from time to time. To do this, you need to right-click on the folder and click on the "Empty Trash" item in the drop-down list. After that, the folder will be freed from garbage, and there will be more memory on drive C.

"Downloads"

Users quite often download movies, music, games through a standard browser downloader. Files from the Internet are automatically saved to the Downloads folder. And, as you know, it is located on drive C. If a user often downloads some files from the Internet, then free disk space dries up very quickly. To prevent clogging drive C, you need to check the boot folder from time to time for large files.

You need to open "Computer" and go to "Downloads".

It is necessary to check the folder for large files, and if there are any, then they must be deleted or moved to another disk.

swap file

Windows has a paging file. How does it affect memory and why is it needed? Sometimes the system does not have enough RAM to perform certain operations. In such cases, the file takes a certain amount of permanent memory from the disk and uses it as operational.

To free drive C, you need to make sure that the paging file takes resources elsewhere. You need to go to the "Computer" folder, then right-click. In the tab that appears, click on "Properties". A window will appear. In it, open "Advanced system settings".

Then click on "Settings".

In the new window, go to the "Advanced" section and click on "Edit".

Set the disk from which the paging file will take memory. This is done in the following way. Select the C drive and put a checkmark in front of the "No paging file" property. To confirm, click on the "Set" button. With another disk, we do the opposite and mark the property "Size at the choice of the system."

If the window does not allow you to change the properties (the field with disks is dimmed), then uncheck the box next to the "Automatically select the size of the paging file" option.

hibernation

To save space on the C drive, you can turn off hibernation on your computer. You need to activate the command line (Win + R combination) and write in it: powercfg.exe -h off. Press Enter and voila - hibernation is disabled. After restarting the computer, you may notice that there is a little more memory on the system drive.

However, unless absolutely necessary, it is better not to turn off the hibernation mode. This is an extremely useful feature that allows you to restore the work of previously running programs, even if the computer was turned off. To reactivate hibernation, you need to write the command powercfg.exe –h on in the console and restart the PC.

Checkpoints

Checkpoints are created after various changes in the system (updating drivers, installing new software, etc.). They allow you to roll back the system in case of any problems. But for this possibility it is necessary to pay with system memory. To free drive C, you can delete checkpoints. This will give a couple of megabytes of memory. In this video, you can learn how to delete restore points and thus clean up the local drive C:

Conclusion

The memory on drive C gets clogged pretty quickly. This can cause a number of troubles. To avoid problems, you need to monitor the amount of free space and clean the system disk from time to time. Disk Cleanup C has a positive effect on the performance of the computer and does not take much time. There are many free ways to free up space on a disk full of memory. Moreover, these methods are the same on all operating systems from Microsoft. That is, disk cleanup on windows 10, windows 7, windows XP, windows Vista is identical.

How to remove junk from your computer (part 2)

Hi all! And so, finally, my little hands reached the second part of "Cleaning the computer from garbage." If you haven't read the first part, you can read it here. In this section, I will tell you how to delete garbage on a PC manually. But first you need to allow the display of hidden files and folders. How exactly to do this, I will not roll out, since this is a completely different topic.

1. First you need to find out where the garbage is stored, for windows 7 and 8

C:\windows\Temp C:\Users\Your username\AppData\Local\Temp C:\Users\All your users \TEMP C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Temp C:\Users\All Users\ TEMP

Recent Documents:

C:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\windows\Recent\

Temporary internet files:

C:\Users\your username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\windows\Temporary Internet Files\

2. A standard tool for cleaning the disk from temporary files or unused ones.

In the first step, you need to go to the item ">" All Programs "> then go to" Standard "> after that to "System Tools" and run the "Disk Cleanup" program.

In the second step, you need to select a drive to clean up:

Click on "OK" and the disk scanning process will begin ...

In the third step, you will see a window with information that you can free up space from temporary files.

Now you need to select the partition that you want to free from temporary files. To do this, you need to check the box next to each selected section and only then click on “OK”.

Let's move on to the fourth step, here the essence is if you installed windows 7 on your PC, but not on a blank disk. How not to a blank disk? And so, it also happens that windows is installed on the surface of old windows.

And after such actions, you have such folders as $WINDOWS.~Q, windows.old, which take up a lot of space. By the way, you can also delete system restore checkpoints, but I want to note that in no case do you delete the latter.

And so, in order to perform these steps, you need to do steps 1 to 3, but this time click on the "Clean up system files" item. In the fifth step, you need to open the "Disk Cleanup" window again, as it is written in point 2. But now you need to click on the "Advanced" section. In this section, you click at the very bottom on the "Clear" button, where it says "System Restore and Shadow ...".

3. Files pagefile.sys and hiberfil.sys

These files are located in the root of the disk and take up a lot of space. I’ll explain a little to you what kind of files and what they chew with.

1. The pagefile.sys file is a system paging file, in simple terms, virtual memory. This file cannot be deleted, but it can and should be moved to another disk.

How to do it? Everything is very simple, hold down the win + R keys, and in this window enter this command “SystemPropertiesAdvanced”. And so, a window has opened for you, in this window go in this order “Advanced” => “Performance”, then again “Advanced” and click on “Change. I advise you to set the size to the choice of the system, then select the drive to which you want to transfer the file and click on "OK".

2. This hiberfil.sys file creates a hypernation mode, in simple words saves the contents of RAM when the hypernation mode is turned on. You can, of course, disable this file, but, in my opinion, it is better not to do this. If you still want to disable it, then you need to hold down the win + R keys, then write the command "cmd" and enter the command "powercfg / hibernate off" in the window that opens.

4. Removing programs you do not need from the disk

This section frees up space very well and increases system performance. Moreover, why keep programs that you do not use.

The easiest way to do this is to go to the control panel and click on the "Uninstall programs" section. You will see a list box where you can select unnecessary programs and remove them.

5. Defrag

I will try to explain in simple terms what defragmentation is. And so, defragmentation is when a program overwrites files in sequence, making order. Thus, it is a very good way to speed up your PC.

In general, run the standard defragmentation program. Where to find it? Everything is very simple, go to the "All Programs" item, look for "Standard", then "Utilities" and click on "Disk Defragmenter".

This program is already built into windows, if you look at the screenshot above, this is how this program looks like. In it, you first need to analyze the disk and after that it will tell you whether you need to defragment.

I can also recommend the Defraggler program, you can download it here, its interface is also quite simple.

In this screenshot, I want to show you the advantages over the standard program.

          1. I recommend that you do a disk analysis once a week, and do a defragmentation only after you have done the analysis. Why is that? And because after the analysis you will be given an appropriate recommendation on what needs to be done.
          2. If you have added a large number of files, then I recommend analyzing them.
          3. You need 15% free space for a complete defragmentation. But if you have less free space, then the program will only perform part of the defragmentation. So free up 15% of the space and everything will be fine.
          4. I recommend after updating windows or installing windows to do disk defragmentation.
          5. And the last tip, to save time on defragmentation, first remove all the garbage.

6. Remove everything unnecessary from the desktop.

What exactly to delete is up to you. That's all, see you in the next article.

Sincerely, Roman Rvachev!

PS. Subscribe to the article update and you will find out when there will be a contest with cash prizes, as well as a lot of cool tricks and useful tips to your e-mail.

How to speed up windows 7

Over time, the computer starts to run slower. The system boots slowly, programs take a long time to open, etc. There are many factors that cause windows to slow down. Of course, you can reinstall the system, but it's better to do it in less radical ways to speed up windows 7.

Why does windows slow down

After you have installed the windows 7 operating system, the system boots up pretty quickly, the programs work fine, without brakes. Over time, the speed decreases.

This is due to the fact that the system is gradually becoming cluttered (the remaining files of remote programs, fragmented files, etc.), new programs appear in startup, gadgets and add-ons are installed that take up part of the computer's resources. Together with the operation of unnecessary services, this slows down the system.

What to do to speed up windows 7

We clean the system of garbage

The very first step is to clean the system of debris. By “garbage” we mean files left after deletion, unnecessary shortcuts, temporary files, etc. Junk files accumulate on the hard drive. If there are a lot of them (especially on the system drive “C”), then windows will work very slowly.

You can remove garbage from the system using the built-in tools of windows 7. The utility is called “Disk Cleanup”. The easiest way to open this utility is to run it by typing “Disk Cleanup” in the search bar of the “Start” menu.

Select the system drive from the list (usually “C”). Let's wait a bit until the system analyzes all the files and identifies unnecessary ones. After the analysis, tick off the items that need to be deleted.

After this operation, 3.5 GB of space was freed up on my computer.

Disk Defragmenter

In a nutshell, defragmentation is the process of collecting pieces (elements) of files into one sequence of elements. Pieces of one file can be located in different places. This slows down access to them. To speed up the work of windows 7, you need to periodically defragment. Defragmentation should be done after cleaning the system of garbage (previous paragraph).

Defragmentation can be done using windows 7, but I would advise you to use special programs. Read an overview of hard drive defragmentation software. The review presents the best defragmentation programs and help on how to defragment.

Remove unnecessary programs from startup

There are programs that, after installation, are registered at startup and start along with the system startup. Not all of these programs are needed at system startup. Any additional program that automatically starts at system startup slows down windows.

To speed up windows, you need to remove unnecessary programs from startup. How to remove a program from startup is described in detail in the article How to remove a program from startup.

Cleaning the registry

The registry is a directory (database) in which various settings of the windows operating system are located. When installing new programs or games, changing system settings, starting new services, etc. new entries are added to this directory. After uninstalling the programs, the recordings are saved. Unnecessary directory entries are obtained. The directory is filled with unnecessary entries and slows down windows.

Cleaning the registry of unnecessary entries helps speed up windows. There are many programs for cleaning the registry. I would recommend using the free Wise Registry Cleaner (download).

After launching the program, select the desired language and click on the “Scan” button. The program will scan the registry and find all unnecessary entries.

After that, click on the “Clean” button and Wise Registry Cleaner will remove all unnecessary entries.

Acceleration using a flash drive or memory card

If you have an unnecessary flash drive or memory card, then it can be used to speed up windows. This Winodws acceleration technology is called ReadyBoost. Read more about it in the article Speeding up windows using a flash drive.

Restart your computer

Some users, instead of turning off the computer, send it to “Sleep”. It's comfortable. You can turn on your computer and continue working. All open files and folders will be restored and no need to wait for windows to load.

But the longer you do not turn off the computer, the more various data is stored in RAM. Gradually, the RAM fills up with information, and the computer starts to work more slowly.

To clear the RAM, it is enough to restart the computer at least 2 times a week.

How to set up a 5.1 system on windows 7

How to disable chkdsk disk check on boot in windows 7

And this time I will tell you how to manually remove computer trash on your own, using Windows tools and programs.

1. Where is garbage stored in operating systems

On Windows XP

We go and delete everything in the folders: Windows temporary files:

  • C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\History
  • C:\Windows\Temp
  • C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp
  • C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\History

For Windows 7 and 8

Windows temporary files:

  • C:\Windows\Temp
  • C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp
  • C:\Users\All Users\TEMP
  • C:\Users\All Users\TEMP
  • C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Temp

Browser cache

Opera cache:

  • C:\users\username\AppData\Local\Opera\Opera\cache\

Cache muff:

  • C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ \Cache folder

Google chrome cache (Chrome):

  • C:\Users\ username \AppData\Local\Bromium\User Data\Default\Cache
  • C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Cache

Or we drive in the address chrome://version/ and see the path to the profile. There will be a folder Cache

Temporary internet files:

  • C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\

Recent Documents:

  • C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\

Some folders may be hidden from prying eyes. To show them, you need .

2. Cleaning the disk from temporary and unused files using

Standard Disk Cleanup tool

1. Go to "Start" -> "All Programs" -> "Accessories" -> "System Tools" and run the "Disk Cleanup" program.

2. Select a drive to clean up:

The disk scanning process will begin...

3. A window will open with information about the amount of space occupied by temporary files:

Check the boxes next to the partitions you want to clear and click OK.

4. But this not all. If you installed Windows 7 not on a blank disk, but on top of a previously installed operating system, you probably have such space-consuming folders as Windows.old or $WINDOWS.~Q.

In addition, it may make sense to delete system restore checkpoints (except the last one). To perform this operation, repeat steps 1-3, but this time click "Clean up system files":

5. After the procedure described in paragraph 2, the same window will open, but the “Advanced” tab will appear at the top. Go to it.

Under System Restore and Shadow Copy, click Clean.

3. Files pagefile.sys and hiberfil.sys

The files are located in the root of the system drive and take up quite a lot of space.

1. The file pagefile.sys is system paging file(virtual memory). It cannot be deleted (it is not recommended to reduce it either), but it can and even needs to be moved to another disk.

This is done very simply, open "Control Panel - System and Security - System", select "Advanced system settings" in the "Performance" section, click "Settings", switch to the "Advanced" tab (or press the win + R key combination, the command will open and there type SystemPropertiesAdvanced) and in the "Virtual Memory" section, click "Change". There you can choose the location of the paging file and its size (I recommend leaving "Size at the choice of the system").

4. Removing unnecessary programs from the disk

A good way to free up disk space (and as an added bonus to increase system performance) is to remove unused programs.

Go to the control panel and select "Uninstall programs". A list will appear from which you can select a program. which you want to delete and click "Delete".

5. Defrag

Defragmenting a hard disk by a defragmenter program allows you to organize the contents of clusters, that is, move them on the disk so that clusters with the same file are placed sequentially, and empty clusters are merged.

This leads to an increase in the speed of accessing files, and hence to some increase in computer performance, which can be quite noticeable with a high level of disk fragmentation. The standard disk defragmenter program is located along the path: start> all programs> standard> system utilities> disk defragmenter.

This is what the program looks like. In which you can analyze the disk, where the program will show a diagram of disk fragmentation and tell you whether or not you need to defragment. You can also set a schedule for when the disk will be defragmented. This is a program built into Windows, there are also separate disk defragmentation programs, for example, which you can download here:

Its interface is also quite simple.

Here are its advantages over the standard program:

  1. Analysis before disk defragmentation.
    • Do a disk analysis before defragmenting. After the analysis, a dialog box is displayed with a diagram of the percentage of fragmented files and folders in the disk and a recommendation for action.
    • Analysis is recommended to be carried out regularly, and defragmentation only after the appropriate recommendation of the disk defragmenter. Disk analysis is recommended to be performed at least once a week. If the need for defragmentation is rare, the disk analysis interval can be extended up to one month.
  2. Analysis after adding a large number of files.
    • After adding a large number of files or folders, disks can become excessively fragmented, so it is recommended to analyze them in such cases.
  3. Checking for at least 15% free disk space.
    • For a complete and proper defragmentation using Disk Defragmenter, the drive must have at least 15% free space. Disk Defragmenter uses this volume as an area for sorting file fragments. If the amount is less than 15% of free space, then Disk Defragmenter will only perform partial defragmentation.
    • To free up more disk space, delete unnecessary files or move them to another disk.
  4. Defragmentation after software installation or Windows installation.
    • Defragment drives after installing software, or after performing a Windows update or clean install. Drives often become fragmented after software is installed, so running Disk Defragmenter helps ensure the best file system performance.
  5. Saving time on disk defragmentation.
    • You can save a little time required for defragmentation if you remove garbage files from the computer before starting the operation, and also exclude from consideration the system files pagefile.sys and hiberfil.sys, which are used by the system as temporary buffer files and are recreated at the beginning of each Windows session .

Many people are familiar with the situation when the computer freezes, programs load very slowly or do not respond at all to user actions. The most common reason for this is the large number of junk files that take up most of the hard drive space. In this article, we will look at various ways to clean your computer of junk and unnecessary files, which will help restore the system to its previous speed.

Standard Windows Tools

The Windows operating system has several standard features that will help you get rid of junk and unnecessary files. Let's consider each of them in detail.

Disk Cleanup utility

The function is designed to remove temporary and other unnecessary system files. For this:
To free up as much space on your hard drive as possible, you can delete unnecessary system files. To do this, click on "Clean up system files". The utility will restart, analyze again, and two new items will appear in the list: “Service Pack Backup Files” and “Windows Update Cleanup”.

Clearing temporary files in the temp folder

To clean your computer of unnecessary files, you also need to delete the contents from the temp folder - it contains temporary files of various programs. You can get to the ass with the "Run" command. First, press the keyboard shortcut Win+R, after which we enter in the line %temp%.

After clicking the "OK" button, Explorer will open, where all the contents of this folder must be selected (Ctrl + A) and deleted (Shift + Del).

You can also find this folder through the explorer. To do this, open system drive C, go to Windows folder, then find Temp. In some cases, it may be hidden, so you must first enable the "show hidden files" option.

It must be remembered that not all temporary files will be deleted in the folder, but only those that are not involved in the programs. Therefore, before cleaning, it is recommended to close all running programs so that you can delete all files.

Deep cleaning

You can perform deep cleaning of system files using the command line. For this:

Clearing the Downloads Folder

Windows has a special folder for downloading programs and files from the Internet. To free up more space and increase the performance of your computer, it also needs to be cleaned from time to time. Since there may be files that the user needs, they must first be copied to another folder on the hard drive. To clear the Downloads folder, follow these steps:
Thus, you can free up to several tens, and in some cases hundreds of gigabytes of memory.

We also recommend disabling auto-loading of unnecessary or slow-down software products. To do this, simultaneously press Ctrl + Alt + Delete, go to "Task Manager" - "Startup". Select applications that you do not need at system startup and disable.

Third party software products

To clean your computer from unnecessary files, you can also use third-party software. The choice of such utilities is very large, many have paid and free versions. For home use, the functionality that is presented in the free version is quite enough.

Use such utilities with caution, as there is a risk of erasing important information. Therefore, only sections that do not contain important information should be selected for cleaning.

Dism++

With this program, you can clean your computer of junk, remove unnecessary programs, configure startup, optimize the system, and much more. The program is completely free. To clean up junk files:

ccleaner

The program is used to clean the registry and hard drive from debris. You can download it completely free. It consists of several sections: "Cclearer" for cleaning unnecessary files, "Registry" for cleaning the registry and "Tools", which contains such additional tools as uninstalling programs, managing startup and more.

To clean up unnecessary files, perform the following sequence of actions:
Cleaning your computer regularly will keep your computer running at high speed. These procedures are recommended to be carried out once a month and a half, so that the computer is always in good condition.

Recently I met a poll “how much space you have on drive C”, this prompted me to show you how to clean drive C from unnecessary files without deleting anything extra.

As the survey showed, most people have only 100 GB allocated for the C drive, of which a couple of GB are free. This is not surprising, the OS and the necessary software take up 50 GB, plus garbage, temporary files, and as a result, the memory is all occupied. Let's get started and remove all the trash from the computer in order.

Quick cleaning Windows 10

We clean downloads

I think everyone knows what this folder is and why it got full. If anyone is in the "Downloads" tank, then this is the place where all your files that you downloaded / saved on the Internet are located. To find this folder on your computer, open "Computer / My Computer" and in the left menu there will be "Downloads".

If for some reason this folder is not in the left menu, then go to: Disk C, Users, “Your PC Username”, Downloads.

Now, as you understand, I suggest deleting everything from this folder, except for what you need. The rest of the files that you still need, it is better to move to another disk.

To move files to another partition, hold down the "Ctrl" key and left-click on the files / folders you need. Once you have everything selected, press "Ctrl" + "X" (Cut) then open the folder where you want to move it and press "Ctrl" + "V".

Move the download folder to drive D,E,F

If your C drive is low on space and you can't/want to expand it, it's logical to move your downloads to another drive where space allows. It just won’t work, so you have to use the following method:

  1. Go to drive C, Users, "Your PC username", "Downloads".
  2. Right-click on the Downloads folder and select Properties from the menu.
  3. In the top menu, go to "Location".
  4. Here is the path of your folder, which you can change manually or click "Find folder".

  1. Once you've selected a folder on another drive, click "Apply" and you're done!

Delete temporary files

Temporary files are stored in the "Temp" folder and they are all unnecessary junk that clutters up your computer. These files remain after installing programs, updates, etc. You can delete them absolutely everything, without even looking at what is there.

First, let's open the "Temp" folder. Open C Drive, then Windows, then open the Temp folder. Select all files with the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl" + "A" and delete them.

It is possible that Windows will notify you that you can only delete a certain file with Administrator rights. Click yes/continue.

If you have Windows XP, then go to the next step, if Windows 7-10, then do the following:

In the search, on the start panel, write "%temp%" and open the folder.

Alternative opening option: in the address bar, enter "C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Temp". Where "UserName" you need to enter the username of your PC.

In this folder, delete everything that can only be deleted. Personally, in 1 month, almost 2 GB of temporary files have collected.

Cleaning with Ccleaner

I want to suggest you use a program called "ccleaner". This is a very powerful utility that does half of what is mentioned above, and also cleans the cache, browser history and much more. If you do not need to clean something, for example, browser history, this can be disabled in the settings.

In any case, I advise everyone to use it, so let's see where to download it and how to use it:

Go to the official website "https://download.ccleaner.com/ccsetup541.exe" and download the program.

Install and run the program. During installation, uncheck the boxes next to unnecessary programs (Avast, etc.).

Go to the "Options" tab, then "Setting" and select Russian instead of English.

Go to the cleaning tab and uncheck everywhere that you do not want to clean (browser history, etc.). After that, click "clear".

You will be pleasantly surprised, after cleaning the program will show how many MB it has freed your computer.

Removing unnecessary programs

Over time, a large amount of software is collected that is essentially not used. You installed something yourself, something was installed by itself (viruses from mail.ru, avast and others ...). Earlier, I already wrote « » , so let's look at his example:

Uninstalling a program in Windows 7:

  1. Open the Start menu and click on Control Panel. Now find "Programs and Features" in the list.

  1. In the menu in front of you are all the programs that are installed on the computer. Select "Avast" among them, click on it 1 time and click "delete" in the top menu.

  1. You will open the program installer, in which at the very bottom there is an inconspicuous delete button. Click on it. After that, the antivirus will try to convince you, but you continue what you started and do not believe him.

  1. Ready! Next time, be more careful when installing software and games.

Remove Avast in Windows 10:

  1. Open "Start", then "Settings", after "System".

  1. Find "Avast" in the list, click on it, then click "delete".

In this way, remove all programs that you do not use. Don't delete nothing you are not sure about, especially software from Adobe and Microsoft, and the rest is not very important.

Increasing disk space C

It is quite simple to increase the space on the C drive with another drive, and in order not to take a million screenshots, I suggest watching a short video:

Cleaning the basket

Once you delete a file or folder, it goes to the trash in case you change your mind. These files accumulate there until you empty the trash manually or restore them back.

After such a global cleaning of drive C, be sure to empty the trash. In general, I recommend doing this regularly (once a week will be enough), especially since it does not take much time.

So that Empty trash, find on the desktop the icon with the trash can and the corresponding inscription, then right-click on it and select "Empty Trash" from the menu. Ready! Case for 10 sec. and more disk space.

What not to do

Here I will try to list all the possible mistakes of inexperienced users, as well as mention the tips of other sites and explain why you should not do this (if you forgot something, add it in the comments):

  • In no case do not delete any files and folders on drive C if they are there without your actions. Those. You can only delete folders that you have created. Otherwise, it may crash the OS.
  • Don't do anything with the hibernation file. Don't disable it, don't delete it. Only experienced users can properly disable it so that they do not encounter a system error in the future. The megabytes won are not worth it.
  • Do not disable or resize the swap file - this will affect the performance of your system.
  • Standard Disk Cleanup. In the properties of the computer there is a standard utility that supposedly cleans the C drive from garbage. Yes, this is true, but for example, for 1 year of using a computer, 60 MB files will be collected there (this is very small). It's just not easy anymore not relevant and don't waste your time.
  • Remove programs completely (detailed above) using special installation files uninstall.exe. There is no need to delete programs along with the folder in the “program files” section, otherwise there will be many other files of this program on the disk.

Conclusion

As you can see for yourself, a lot of unnecessary files, programs and folders have been removed. Now you have a lot of free space on the C drive. I also recommend cleaning your computer so that it does not slow down.

Hello readers of my blog, it's a wonderful spring day, I have free time, so why not write a useful post for your readers. As part of this article, I would like to talk about how to clean your computer from the garbage that has accumulated there.

Of course, it is very important that the computer has only those files that you need, if you constantly download and install different programs, then they most likely slow down your computer. I have already told in the article how you can, in simple ways, improve the performance of your computer.

Now, I really want to tell you how you can remove excess trash from your computer and make it work fine. Well, friends, if you are ready, then start studying this material, I am sure that you will find a lot of useful things in it.

So, the performance of a computer largely depends on its parameters and how cluttered it is. Of course, if we are talking about its parameters, then it is already clear that you are buying a more expensive computer and everything will be great, but if you want to improve the performance of your computer, then you just need to clean it. This is not as difficult to do as it might seem, although it will require you to follow a few simple steps.

To begin with, I would recommend that you delete all old and redundant files. What do you advise here, go, first, to your hard drive and start deleting everything that you think is not needed. I did just that, at first, I started with old films, which it was a pity to delete, and then I switched to games altogether, since they take away a lot of free time, and now it’s oh so necessary.

Further, as soon as all unnecessary films, music, and possibly some unnecessary files were deleted, for example, I still have old term papers, a thesis, a bunch of essays. I deleted all this, because I need it, perhaps you can tell me what could be sold, but this is of little interest to me, it is better to delete and forget.

Then, the correct solution is to clear the C drive, where your important programs are located. To do this, we remove all the old and unnecessary programs that you have, but you do not use them. These are the programs that can greatly slow down your computer, so I recommend doing a general cleaning.

How to properly clean your computer from various garbage!

How I do it, for starters, I go to the control panel - then, I choose to remove and install programs. Here, look at the screenshot, such a window should appear for you.

Next, we look at which programs we don’t need or which ones you don’t use and delete them. By the way, in such a simple way, you can remove various games, antiviruses, browsers and other rubbish that you may not need. Of course, you don’t need to delete browsers, how will you access the Internet, but if you have 3-4, then you can leave one, the rest in the trash.

Well, if you have done all this, then consider that 50% of success is in your pocket, now let's move on. A very good way, I found on the Internet, which many do not talk about.

It will be very good if you clean up temporary files that clog drive C, or another drive where you have Windows. Remember that files that have the ".tmp" extension are temporary files that need to be deleted. How to clean your computer from them is very simple, as it turned out.

To remove them, we simply go to "Start" - "Explorer" - "Disk C" and then in the search we enter the extension " .tmp” and start the search. After we enter this extension, the computer will find all unnecessary files for us. How to delete them, yes, everything is very simple, for this, press the key combination Ctrl + A and click delete. That's all, nothing complicated, you just need to carefully approach this issue. If you can't remember the extension, then just copy it from my article and paste it.

Agree that all this is not as difficult as it might seem. In my past articles, I told you how you can clear the cache, if you haven’t read it, then I advise you, because there I recommended the Cleaner program. A very good program that removes everything unnecessary from the computer. Therefore, I recommend her to you. download, I sent you a link.

After you download this program, you will need to install it, again, I will not describe this process, since it is quite simple, there is nothing complicated.

After you download it, you need to open the program:

Then, press the "Analyze" button at the bottom of the screen and after checking the files on your computer, you press " cleaning»

During cleaning, the program will ask you to close the browser, you can do this, or you can refuse by clicking "No", I prefer to refuse.

Also, I also want to tell you about how you can clean your computer in a simple way, which, for sure, was not known to you. So, in order for your computer to determine for itself what is superfluous for it and what is not, you need to go to "Start" - "Accessories" - "Utilities" - "Disk Cleanup"

There, select the disk where you already have (at your discretion) unnecessary files and click "OK". I select the C drive, I have all the programs there, so I clean this drive.

Why should you clean your computer?

I will say that you need to clean it all the time, for example, it infuriates me a lot when files that I don’t need are on my computer. Why are they, even if they cover up some kilobytes. After all, this is according to kilobytes, and the memory on a computer is not rubber and can quickly run out. By the way, I thought that such files take up very little, but they can accumulate so much that then you delete the excess and just wonder where these gigabytes of garbage came from.

Cleaning up will give you more memory, and I'm sure your computer's performance will improve noticeably, if not as much. I will tell you that if you have a good computer by default, and you write a good antivirus program on it and clean it every day, then your device will work quickly.

I bought my computer in 2011 for ridiculous money, namely for 8,000 rubles, so it is not as powerful as we would like. But, I clean it every day from various garbage, because you can pick up different things on the Internet, and therefore I am pleased with its performance.

Here, I told you about all the methods that I knew, I hope that the topic: how to clean the computer from garbage, was completely painted by me. And if I missed something, then I'm sorry, I myself only understand this, so I'm waiting for your comments and questions.

I will finish, friends, otherwise I need to run to pay for the Internet, I hope you liked everything, we will meet soon.
In order not to miss anything on my blog, I recommend you subscribe to my blog updates .

I assure you, soon I will be doing even more experiments, with monetary investments, so it will be interesting, visit me as often as possible. Bye everyone and good luck!

Sincerely, Yuri Vatsenko!
