iPhone devices running iOS 3.0 and 4.0 support special emoji characters that replace emoticons in text messages. There are up to 460 different pictures in the folder. However, not all phone users are aware of this. To enable this feature, you must first install it on your iPhone. There are 2 ways to do this.

Activate emoticons on iPhone

Among other keyboard layouts, we should also see our new Emoji. When typing, to open the emoji folder, you just need to click on the globe.

It is worth noting that for devices with iOS 5.0 there is no need to download the Emoji keyboard, since this new firmware already contains emoticons. In order to activate them, you just need to select the Emotions item in the Add a new keyboard section.

To add emoticons to iPhone 4 and other "apple" devices, and insert them into SMS messages, you do not need to install any application at all. All the necessary tools for this are in the iPhone 4, and for the function to work, you just need to activate them.

How to enable emoticons on iPhone 4 and other smartphone models, read the instructions below.

Enabling emoticons on an iPhone or any other Apple device is easy and simple. For this, it is not at all necessary to install third-party software on the device, as some people think, and even more so jailbreak.

It is especially easy to make emoticons on smartphones running the iOS version 7 operating system. The fact is that this firmware is based on native support for special characters that are activated with a few clicks.

If you're wondering how to add emoji to your iPhone and your device is running iOS 7, all you need to do is turn on hidden icons.

How to make emoticons on an iPhone, read the algorithm of actions below:

  • The gadget must be turned on. In this case, first you need to enter the basic settings of iOS.
  • Scroll through the screen, going down to the very bottom to the keyboard item.
  • Enter the keyboard section.
  • Click on the subsection of new keyboards.
  • Find in the list of Emoji functions.

This will complete the procedure. The secondary keyboard layout and the emoji set installed on it will be activated. These emoticons can be used for communication in absolutely any application, as well as when working with SMS messages. Switching the keyboard during work is very simple. This is done in the standard way - by clicking on the globe icon.

It is important to note that activated icons are not cross-platform, which is well known to Emoji users. But for the rest it will not be superfluous to know about it. Therefore, before sending a letter by e-mail, you need to remember which device the recipient has. If his smartphone does not work on the basis of the iOS operating system, instead of funny emoticons, he will see incomprehensible question marks when he opens the letter.

Installing emoticons through the AppStore

You can also add emoticons to the "apple" gadget through the AppStore. In this case, a jailbreak is not required, and the whole procedure is done elementarily, as in the previous method. The algorithm of actions is as follows.

The Unicode 9.0 collection introduces 72 new emoticons, including, to the general glee of users, such as "face with a grimace of disgust" and "Fox face".

Emoticons are the most popular component of SMS communication on iOS devices. Some users even update their devices for the sole purpose of getting new emojis. However, there is no need to put yourself in front of a choice: jailbreak or new emoticons. In this article, we'll show you how to get the new iOS 10.2 emojis on "jailbroken" devices running iOS 9.

This method uses the Emoji10 emoticon pack, released by the developer “Poomsmart”. Please note that while iOS 10.2 emoji can be installed on jailbroken devices running firmware up to iOS 6 as well as iOS 10, for the sake of brevity, I'll provide the process here for devices running iOS 9. The process for other versions of iOS is similar, but may require the use of other packages. Please refer to the Poomsmart web page for details.

Requirements

  • Jailbroken device.
  • BytaFont 3
  • "Poomsmart" repository in Cydia.
  • repository "vxBakerxv" in Cydia.

Instructions

1) First, launch the "Cydia" application and add the following two repositories:

https://vxbakerxv.github.io/repo/

https://poomsmart.github.io/repo/

The "Poomsmart" repository has various "Emoji10" packages. Therefore, we must allow our iOS 9 devices to handle the layout and keyboard attributes of emoji designed for iOS 10.2. The "vxBakerxv" repository stores the iOS 10.2 emoji font files themselves.

2) If you haven't already, then install "BytaFont 3" from the "ModMyi" repository that comes by default with the Cydia app.

BytaFont 3 will be used to work with "Emoji10" fonts, after the "Poomsmart" tweak configures our device to work with it.

3 a) If you are running iOS 9.0 and 9.1 inclusive, find and install the following packages:

  • Emoji iOS 10 - vxBakerxv
  • EmojiAttributes - Poomsmart
  • Emoji Localization - Poomsmart
  • Emoji Resources - Poomsmart

The last three packages in the above list may be automatically queued for installation when attempting to install the Emoji10 tweak (iOS 9.0-9.3). If they are not queued for download, install them manually.

3 b) If you are running iOS 9.2 and 9.3.3 inclusive, then install the following packages:

  • Emoji10 (iOS 9.0-9.3) - Poomsmart
  • EmojiAttributes - Poomsmart
  • Emoji iOS 10 - vxBakerxv

4) After the device respring, open the "BytaFont 3" application.

5) Go to the "Swap Mode" tab and select "Emoji".

6) On the Emoji screen, select the "Emoji10" layout to replace the original set of emoji on your device with the updated set from iOS 10.2.

7) Respring the device again when prompted.

8) After restarting your device, open any messaging app and go to the "Emoji" keyboard. Check for additional emoji from iOS 10.2, such as Whiskey or Bacon. If they are, then everything is in order!

Return to original state

1) Open the "BytaFont 3" application and go to the "Swap Mode" - "Emoji" tab.

2) Click the button Restore BytaFont backup» to restore the original original emoji set from the original iOS version.

3) Now we have to remove the "Emoji10" packages from the "Cydia" app. If you don't, your keyboard layout will still be set to use the iOS 10.2 layout, but in the absence of the "Emoji" 10.2 font, the device will still have spaces in your current keyboard layout.

To do this, open the "Cydia" application and remove all packages from the list below (you may not have all of them on your device):

  • Emoji10 (IOS 9.0-9.3) – Poomsmart
  • Emoji iOS 10 – vxBakerxv
  • EmojiAttributes - Poomsmart
  • Emoji Localization - Poomsmart
  • Emoji Resources - Poomsmart

4) Reboot your device and make sure that the original emoji set is active on your device.

And that is all. These packages are useful in that they also allow you to view the iOS 10.2 package emoji in messages received on your device from users whose devices are running iOS 10.2. Enjoy the ability to express emotions such as "Facepalm (embarrassed or annoyed)" and "ROFL (rolling on the floor laughing)" without giving up jailbreaking your device!
