Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 phone: description, specifications, test, reviews. Samsung Galaxy Ace - Specifications Mobile device screens are characterized by their technology, resolution, pixel density, diagonal length, color depth, and more.

The launch of the top-of-the-line Galaxy S has become a landmark for Samsung. Koreans have declared themselves from the best side, which is eloquently shown by sales - 10 million units of this model alone in 7 months. Galaxy S turned out to be definitely successful despite all the reservations and quibbles (for example, cheap plastic case), for which he deservedly received from us the honorary award “Recommended site” and is listed in several nominations at once. But other Android smartphones of the brand are not so successful.

The main problem of mid-range and lower-end Samsung Android smartphones is the high price compared to competitors, primarily LG. Here we rely on a well-known brand and on the promoted Galaxy S brand of Galaxy smartphones. And new items do not change this state of affairs much. There are four of them: Samsung Galaxy Ace (Model S5830), Samsung Galaxy Fit(S5670), Samsung Galaxy Gio(S5660) and Samsung Galaxy mini (S5570). But there is still no clarity about the Gio (S5660) in Russia, the model is still being discussed - whether there will be supplies to our market.

Let's compare all new Galaxy to the old Galaxy S, as well as Nokia N8, Apple iPhone 4, Blackberry 9800 Torch, Highscreen cosmo and LG Optimus 2X:

How to get the low-cost version of the Galaxy S and how did Samsung bring down the price? The first is the screen... If the flagship has a gorgeous Super Amoled, then all our heroes have ordinary TFT matrices of low resolution and not the highest quality (brightness, contrast, viewing angles), plus a smaller diagonal. But what is remarkable is the capacitive technology here (unlike the same LG Optimus). The second is the processor... If the flagship has a powerful 1 GHz chip with an accelerator, then there is only 800 MHz and even 600 MHz, the latter do not even support flash. Third - memory and multimedia... If the flagship has 8 or even 16 GB, can play, record and even edit 720p, then the available Galaxy is devoid of this, and there are no codecs. Fourth - software... If the flagship has an excellent implementation of TouchWiz, then there are not many effects and animations, the applications are greatly changed. And finally, fifth - materials... Although the flagship is not far from here, just the materials are the weak point of the Galaxy S. But inexpensive Galaxy went even "further" - even plastic over the ectran.

These are not all differences, but the most important ones. As you can see, Galaxy S is better radically and in almost everything - the difference with the flagship from Samsung is very large. This is the key to its popularity and unpopularity of other Android smartphones of the brand. For example, HTC's Wildfire differs much less from Desire. Besides Korean phones and smartphones look more and more alike with an eye on Apple one way or another (the same is now with Korean laptops) - it is very easy to get confused in the range.

The most important and interesting thing is, of course, the Russian prices for new items in the Samsung Galaxy line. So, all the devices will appear on our market in February. Galaxy Ace will cost 14,990 rubles, Galaxy Fit - 12,990 rubles, and Galaxy mini - 8,990 rubles. Compared to analogs from LG and even HTC, this is quite expensive. But let's see what we get for this money.

Samsung Galaxy Ace

This is the most expensive and most advanced smartphone among the new Galaxy. Unlike the younger models, the screen resolution is higher and the processor is more powerful, and the design is more expensive, reminiscent of the iPhone 4. The manufacturer himself positions Ace as follows: “for fashionable and sociable young business people”.

Specifications Samsung GALAXY Ace

Display: capacitive, TFT, 3.5 "320x480 HVGA
Processor: 800MHz
Camera: 5.0MP with autofocus and diode flash, video QVGA / 15

Memory: 158MB + 2GB (included) + microSD (up to 32GB)
Dimensions: 112.4 x 59.9 x 11.5mm
Battery: 1350mAh

The external resemblance to the iPhone 4 - in my opinion, this is a definite plus of the Galaxy Ace, the design is successful. Everything in this world has already been invented, and it is not at all bad to spy on a good find from a competitor. An Apple product costs almost twice as much and is a welcome purchase for many. In our project “The Best Gadget of 2010”, it is the iPhone 4 that is now in the lead. But don't expect a copy of Apple. Samsung's new product is completely plastic, there is also plastic above the screen (the Galaxy S had glass). The design is not bad, the case almost does not creak, there are no backlashes. There is only one color scheme - the classic combination of gray and black, it looks great.

What I didn't like about the exterior of the Galaxy Ace was the soiled model. The case is completely glossy, which is especially critical for the rear panel - it clicks quickly, leaving prints of everything and everyone. In addition, the surface will quickly wipe off.

The controls in the Galaxy Ace are pretty standard. On the right is the power button and microSD slot, on top is a microUSB connector and 3.5 mm jack, on the left is a volume rocker. What's good, there is a slot for a memory card with a full-fledged "hot" swap. What's bad, there is no camera button. On the front panel there is a central button for returning to the main screen and on the sides there are two sensors - context menu and return. Exactly the same as in Galaxy S.

The hardware stuffing of the Galaxy Ace for the price of 15 thousand rubles is rather simple. Here the usual TFT screen with HVGA resolution is not the highest quality and not the fastest 800 MHz processor. But the camera is 5 MP and even with a flash (Galaxy S does not have one), but the video is only QVGA and only at 15 fps. All basic camera functionality is available - panorama, smile detection, etc. Here are examples of shooting in maximum quality:

The rest is standard. There is Wi-Fi and GPS, there is a 3.5 mm audio jack, Bluetooth and FM radio are still there, as well as a motion sensor. The software platform is Android 2.2, but unlike the same LG Optimus One, there is honest support for Flash up to 10.1, which is important. In addition, the customization is good. There is TochWiz (however, simplified - without effects and animation like the Galaxy S), there is SWYPE and a program for viewing and editing ThinkFree documents. Standard Google apps and catalog are still here Google applications Market.

What I didn't like was the lack of localized applications (for example, Mail.Ru Agent with ICQ, Odnoklassniki widgets, VKontakte, etc.) that LG has. Also, for some reason there are no DivX / XviD codecs, although they were still in Spica. Finally, TouchWiz itself is still inferior in convenience and functionality to HTC Sense.

Samsung Galaxy Fit

This is a midrange of the series with a simple QVGA screen, but an interesting design in the style of HTC. Samsung itself positions Fit in this way: “for consumers who need a reliable assistant in their professional activities and busy social life.”

Specifications Samsung GALAXY Fit
Network: HSDPA 7.2 Mbps 900/2100, EDGE / GPRS 850 / 900/1800/1900
Operating system: Android 2.2 (Froyo), TouchWiz UI, keyboard with SWYPE
Display: capacitive, TFT, 3.31 "240x320 QVGA
Processor: 600MHz
Camera: 5.0MP with autofocus, video QVGA / 15
3.5mm headphone jack, stereo FM radio with RDS, voice recorder, accelerometer
Communications: Bluetooth 2.1, USB 2.0, WiFi 802.11 (b / g / n)
Dimensions: 110.2 x 61.2 x 12.6mm
Battery: 1350mAh

Galaxy Fit is the closest competitor to HTC Wildfire with similar design, price and functionality. The model is interesting externally. The minimum edge between the screen and the edge of the case, with a ribbed cover on the back. Importantly, the Fit is not as easily soiled as the Ace. But the materials of the case are less expensive, the plastic is of average quality. The back cover has a slight backlash. I didn’t like the assembly, but all this may be the costs of the test sample.

The Fit elements are exactly the same as those of the Ace, with the only difference that the expansion slot has been moved to the left side. The screen is capacitive, but with a low resolution of only QVGA. The picture is noticeably grainy, like the Wildfire. This is one of the main disadvantages of the Fit. The processor is also not happy - there is only 600 MHz, which is felt even when the "live" wallpaper is activated. It was because of the processor that the flash had to be sacrificed - the situation is similar to the LG Optimus One.

The camera is exactly the same as the Ace, but without the flash. There is autofocus, there is QVGA video recording at 15 fps. The quality of shooting does not differ from the Ace - you can see examples in the description of the older model.

The rest is again a standard set of an inexpensive Android smartphone. There is Wi-Fi and GPS, there is a 3.5 mm audio jack, Bluetooth and FM radio are still there, as well as a motion sensor. Android 2.2 software platform with TouchWiz and SWYPE. For QuickOffice documents. Interestingly, its own navigation is built in parallel to Google Maps. Other Google apps are available, Market is still there. But DivX / XviD codecs are also missing. However, HTC Wildfire does not have them either (although it does have support for flash 10.1).

Samsung Galaxy mini

This is the most inexpensive smartphone Samsung in our market. Accordingly, minimal functionality and a cheerful youthful look. Samsung positions mini this way: “for those who need a smart youth device with rich functionality”.

Specifications Samsung GALAXY mini
Network: HSDPA 7.2 Mbps 900/2100, EDGE / GPRS 850 / 900/1800/1900
Operating system: Android 2.2 (Froyo), TouchWiz UI, keyboard with SWYPE
Display: capacitive, TFT, 3.14 "320x240 QVGA
Processor: 600MHz
Camera: 3.0MP without autofocus and without flash, video QVGA / 15
3.5mm headphone jack, stereo FM radio with RDS, voice recorder, accelerometer
Communications: Bluetooth 2.1, USB 2.0, WiFi 802.11 (b / g / n)
Memory: 160MB + 2GB (included) + microSD (up to 32GB)
Dimensions: 110.4 x 60.8 x 12.1mm
Battery: 1200mA

Externally, the Galaxy Fit looks great - a fun, sporty look that accurately guesses youth style. Black plastic, green edging and an element in the center key - I like it. Matte plastic, does not paw. Of course, it would be wrong to expect other materials for such a price, but what we have is done with high quality.

The Fit fits well in the hand, and the controls are similar to the Ace, but unlike the older models, there are not sensors on the front panel, but mechanical buttons, which is a plus. What is important, for all the budget of the device, there are no discounts - a capacitive screen, an expansion slot with "hot" replacement, etc.

Today we're looking at the successor to Samsung's mid-range models, the Ace, codenamed GT-S5830. After the GT-i5800 model, Ace still pulls the title of a receiver over the famous and popular i5700 Spica model. The screen resolution was returned to its original position (in the i5800 it was reduced to 240x400 pixels), the hardware became modern for its segment. But whether Ace will become a bestseller among competitors and whether it will repeat the success of Spica - time will tell.

However, it seems to me that it won't be easy to surpass the glory of Spitsa. Subjective opinion, but, at first glance, if I now had to choose between Ace and Spica, the choice would be ambiguous.

The fact is that Spica has more developed external data. So, there is no gloss in the materials of the case, and in general, the experience of active and long-term use of the i5700 has shown that the exterior of the model is very resistant to wear. It doesn't take a genius to realize that an all-glossy Ace will wear out faster.

Also, the predecessor has all mechanical keys and there are not three of them, like the Ace. There is even a joystick, which is so lacking in modern sensors, especially in winter.

But not everything is so good. Spitsa had serious performance issues. Despite the high frequency, the hardware was sharpened only for playing the converted video. There were problems with games and especially 3D. However, the popularity of the model allowed the smartphone to get around many obstacles. So, today all new custom products are released on the i5700.

Let's take a look at the new model. Yes, the Ace is significantly superior to the Galaxy 580. But if you compare it with the Spica, the Ace, with an "amateur" case, wins in performance. About them below.

Appearance

Despite the glossy body, the Ace looks good. Outwardly, it evokes persistent associations with the iPhone 4, the same gray edging on the side, body color and only one key in rest mode. Until you unlock the device, the two touch buttons are not visible at all.

The location of everything on the body

On the front side of the smartphone there is a 3.5 ″ screen with a resolution of 320x480 pixels. This is the standard resolution for a device of this level. The screen is made using TFT technology and has a capacitive touch surface. The viewing angles are good, but not great. Multitouch is well implemented, I did not notice any confusion in touches on both LG Optimus One and Google Nexus One.

The speaker and the proximity sensor are located above the screen, and the control keys are located below it. As in the entire Galaxy line, you can unlock the device not only by pressing the power key, but also by pressing the central mechanical key.

On the right we see the power button and screen lock, as well as a slot for a microSD memory card under the flap. If you often change memory cards, for example, for watching movies, this solution will be to your taste.

On the right, there is a coupled volume rocker and a lanyard eyelet.

Below is only a microphone, and on top we see a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack, as well as a connector for a MicroUSB cable. The latter is hidden behind a curtain. We see a similar solution in Galaxy S.

The back cover is the most glossy I've ever seen. It is just glossy glossy. There isn't even any pattern, like on the Galaxy S or Nexus S. The prints are part of the lid's existence.

Among the black gloss there is a 5MP camera with flash and a speaker. The camera has autofocus and takes good pictures, but video shooting in Ace is just for show, as it shoots video with a maximum resolution of 320x240 pixels. Does that still happen? I am sure that this is a marketing ploy.

Sample photos

Removing the cover, you will see the battery itself, with a capacity of 1350 mAh, as well as a SIM card slot. The battery is not miraculous, it provides a daily ration for the smartphone, but no more. Of course, it all depends on the activity of the user. With a moderate load, you can get a two-day operation.

ON

The Galaxy Ace runs Android OS 2.2.1. In principle, this cannot be called very well, it should be so. Whether there will be an upgrade to 2.3 is not known. This is a drawback compared to the rival model LG Optimus One, which will definitely be updated.

As we are used to seeing in Samsung smartphones, there is an add-on for the TouchWiz 3.0 interface above the bare Android. Plus or minus I won't say, because I think it's a matter of taste. My taste leans towards bare Android.

In TouchWiz, desktops, menus have been changed, some services and applications have been added. We are glad to have a Swype keyboard right out of the box.

Specifications

I admit, I did not expect such performance from Ace, the smartphone turned out to be good in this regard. On Ace you can play cool 3D games like Raging Thunder 2, Gangstar: Miami Vindication HD, Brothers In Arms 2: Global Front HD 3D, and others. And the Neocore test only confirms the performance of these games.

Samsung Galaxy Ace Express Video Review

Output

We didn't get a revolution that needs to be sawed and sawed to make a diamond come out. We got a functionally good and ready-to-use smartphone on Android OS. The Galaxy Ace is fast enough for heavy gaming and is fairly inexpensive. For example, a similar model from, will cost the buyer $ 100 more. Do not forget about, which costs the same, but has a more practical case.

One of the advantages is an advanced community of enthusiasts who make a candy from an already good device. Many people will never have to tinker with custom, but those who change Spica to Ace will be a good bonus.

On the downside, I can mention too strong "gloss" of the case. I don’t want to call it any other way. Some people might not like the similarity in design to the iPhone 4.

Our verdict: a reasonably stylish, well-built, efficient enough and the most glossy Android smartphone with a good camera and a "camcorder for show".

Ace S5830 is a real bestseller, a real hit of sales of the company! It is included in the Galaxy product line, as you might have guessed from the model name, and also falls within the range of up to ten thousand rubles at a price. Ace S5830 differs from its predecessors (and these are Fit and Gio) in that it has a built-in sufficiently high-quality camera with a resolution of 5 megapixels, as well as a 3.5-inch touch screen... By the way, the camera is equipped with an LED flash, which allows you to take very good pictures in low light conditions.

Introduction

In December of 2011, the smartphone market began to supply a device under the index I. This is the S5830, or rather, its modification. What are the differences between these two models? The device with the I index has a slightly different graphics accelerator, as well as another processor operating at a frequency of 832 megahertz.

Equipment

The package of the device includes, in addition to itself, the battery Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace Black, as well as Charger... Also, the user is given the opportunity to synchronize the smartphone with personal computer or a laptop using a MicroUSB to USB cable. This wire is included with the device. Well, the set is completed by a microSD memory card with a volume of 2 gigabytes. It may or may not ship with your phone. It all depends on the country in which the device is purchased.

Dimensions (edit)

Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 is the most real candy bar. Its dimensions on all three planes are 112.4 by 59.9 by 11.5 millimeters. In this case, the mass of the smartphone is equal to 113 grams.

Appearance

The Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 is similar to the S II. So to speak, outwardly it is just a miniature copy of the corresponding phone. The control elements are located in the same way, supplemented by a rectangular button, the body of the device has the same geometry.

Manufacturing material

The body of the smartphone is made of ordinary plastic. The back panel is painted black, the lid is not smooth, but embossed. A practical solution considering the fact that the relief helps to avoid scratches and mechanical damage. At the same time, the lid will still rub off, and fingerprints on black plastic are much more noticeable than on white. As for the rest, we note that a chrome edging runs along the perimeter of the phone. The plastic from which the Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace phone is made (the firmware is available on the company's official website) is glossy.

Build quality

It can please people who have made their choice in favor of this device. Smartphone specialists have repeatedly conducted tests that reveal the device's excellent build quality. The device during long-term operation did not reveal any backlash or creaks. Even the most ordinary crunch did not appear. At the same time, the screen of the device is not protected by additional glass or plastic. That is why it will not be so difficult to scratch it.

Reliability and convenience

Such a small mass made it possible to successfully use the device. The phone Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 lies in the hand, the price of which is about nine thousand rubles, it is very reliable. This is also achieved through the ergonomic design, which is complemented by a perforated back panel. It is convenient to transport your phone in any pockets, be it jeans, a jacket or an ordinary shirt.

Front Panel

Here He is located in the upper part of the frontal side. Not far from him, to the side, nestled a speaker. Its volume is average, sometimes it is not enough in a conversation. There is no necessary stock, for which you can automatically set a minus. Yes, the quality is generally up to par. You can hear the interlocutor from that end of the wire legibly, the purity of the sound is not lame. But if you work in high noise conditions or the interlocutor has problems with the microphone (and maybe he speaks quietly himself), then this will be a serious problem.

Touch keys are located under the screen, which will allow us to get to the main menu, as well as go back one point. There is a backlight. It is not regulated. The backlight color is white. It is not visible in the light, although in low light conditions it becomes an obvious advantage of the device. Between the elements of the transition to the menu and to the item back there is a key with which we can move to the desktop of the device. This is a standard move for the creations of a South Korean manufacturer. The key is framed with chrome-plated plastic. It has a small stroke, it is pressed quite softly. If the user presses the button for a few seconds, a menu will open. In it, we can see which applications are currently running on the phone.

Left side

There is a thin key here that allows us to adjust the volume level in the device. With its help, we can change the sound mode, as well as control the volume in the multimedia player, where music files and video clips are opened. A little higher you can find a sector in which there is a strap attachment. Prudently, one cannot fail to note this.

Right side

There is a power control button on this side. She is responsible for locking and unlocking the device, as well as for turning it on and off. Slightly below the button, you can find a compartment into which the user can install a microSD memory card. This nest is covered with a special protective plug made of plastic. When the card is in place, you will hear a soft click.

Bottom end

Upper end

There will be more choice here, after all. The composition consists of a jack for a 3.5 mm wired headset, as well as a MicroUSB port, which simultaneously serves as a means of synchronizing with a personal computer and charging.

Rear panel

It has a large enough main camera peephole. There is a flash nearby, allowing you to take good quality photos in low light conditions. Well, everything ends with a sound speaker, which is covered with a metal mesh.

Removing the cover is easy enough. To do this, you just need to pry it in the area of the lower end, for a special recess. When the user removes the back cover, he will be able to find the device battery underneath. If you remove it too, you can see the slot into which the SIM card is installed.

Conclusion and reviews of the owners

In general, the Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 makes a pretty good impression. And this should be noted. What do we have on the list of the main advantages of the device? First, there is a camera. Still, five megapixels do not lie on the road. Photographs are of high quality, even in poor lighting conditions. Well, in general, this case is no exception.

Secondly, I managed to implant well software and the operating system. It works fast enough, no special slowdowns were found during numerous tests. Thirdly, the advantage is an interesting, ergonomic design. But in order to compete with the most powerful devices in the segment, this is clearly not enough. Probably, a few words should be said about the dynamics of the device, which is distinguished by the purity of sound presentation.

Competitors

One of Samsung Galaxy A's competitors is Huawei IDEO X5. Compared to the subject of our today's review, it has a more original design, which automatically counts as an advantage. In addition, the device has 512 MB built-in random access memory and a more powerful processor provides better performance. The processor operates at a frequency of 800 megahertz. In addition, the diagonal of this device will be larger by 0.3 inches. Huawei has a screen resolution of 480 by 800 pixels. The average cost of the device is practically the same - ten thousand rubles.

Another competitor is the LG Optimus Hub. Here we have a screen with the same diagonal. The resolution will be smaller, only 320 by 480 pixels. However, there is a camera (5 megapixels). The device has 512 MB of RAM and has a Qualcomm processor. It operates at frequencies up to 800 megahertz. The price of the device falls within the range of eight to nine thousand rubles.

Finally, let's answer the question on how to update the Samsung GT S5830 Galaxy Ace. To do this, we need a firmware for the device, which can be found on the official website of the company. We also need appropriate programs. We're talking about Kies, of course. After all the components are assembled, we connect the phone and start the automated file replacement process. However, the user does this at his own peril and risk, do not forget about it.

By the way, in the object of our today's review, the RAM is installed two times less. And this sometimes prompts buyers to think that it is better to take another device with better technical characteristics for the same price. And the built-in memory for storing user data hardly exceeds 150 megabytes.

Ace S5830, positioning it first as a medium device, and then entry level... Designed to raise expectations for the capabilities of budget phones, its sibling, the Ace 2, was also released.

Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830: model specifications

Equal in size iPhone display 4S, in other respects the 3.5 ”TFT screen does not compare with it. This is just one of many concessions to the level set by smartphones Apple... Although the 5MP camera initially matched the sensors of more expensive phones, its video capabilities are limited to 640 x 480 pixels.

In terms of basic specifications, the model is equipped with a single-core 800 MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor. In 2013, its frequency was already significantly inferior to its average value in the chipsets of mid-range smartphones, equal to 1 GHz and even the dual-core novelties that were just appearing then, but corresponded, for example, to Motorola Motoluxe. Cheaper than the Nokia Lumia 710 with a 3.7 ”AMOLED display running Windows Phone 7.5, the Galaxy Ace entered a highly competitive market segment dominated by the BlackBerry Curve 9300 and Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray on Android 2.3.

Design

Many high-end smartphones, following in the footsteps of the iPhone, were also produced in an attractive white finish after the standard black model was released. Keeping up with the trend, Samsung has killed two birds with one stone and offered a couple of interchangeable back panels reminiscent of the days of the Nokia 3330. At the same time, the black back panel, which does not match other smartphones in terms of color, is more pleasant to the touch than its sleek glossy white version. Brilliant cut provides better grip.

Sleek, stylish and nice looking, the phone, despite its budget plastic construction and lightweight design, is surprisingly reliable and only slightly flexes under load. The excellent build has no ugly seams or unnerving space between components, but suffers from poorly positioned buttons.

Placement of three physical keys (go to home page, volume control and power on) Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace user reviews find it inconvenient. Two of them are located in places that allow them to be too frequent. accidental press... When the device is in the left hand, the thumb rests on the volume up button, and the index finger rests on the power switch. And if you hold the phone in your right hand, then the switch falls into the sphere of influence of the thumb, and the middle one constantly risks reducing the volume.

This inconvenience is more annoying than a disadvantage. Samsung's lack of foresight in these basic design aspects often forces users to resort to unnatural and unbalanced grip to avoid accidental clicks.

The chunky enough phone has a bulge at the top, so the manufacturer made room for a 3.5mm audio jack and a micro-USB port hidden by a plastic latch. Helping to flatten the design and mask unsightly holes, the slider is stiff, awkward and difficult to access by requiring the use of two hands.

Withstands accidental shocks and touches with keys and coins, the relatively robust Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace case is not susceptible to scratches in everyday use. However, the plastic finish gets scratched after months of use. It is a pity that the Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace does not include covers.

The large touch screen responds quickly and runs smoothly. The target audience of the model, which are novice smartphone users, will not worry about having the latest version of Android.

With a thickness of 11.5 mm, the model is 0.2 mm thicker than the flagship HTC Sensation. The 113g weight provides a solid feel in the hand, but given that the 4.3-inch Galaxy S2 is only 2g heavier, users might expect a lighter phone.

Display

The most important component of any smartphone is its touchscreen. It allows you to control your device and view media content. The 3.5 ”display is acceptable, although it doesn't manage to stand out from the crowd. With a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels and a density of 165 dpi, the capacitive touchscreen of the Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace is very mediocre and produces images, although discernible, but completely unsatisfactory and unattractive.

With video playback, photo viewing and application functionality to a minimum, the phone falls short of the standards to be expected from Samsung mobile devices. The display is far from the vibrant colors of the AMOLED matrices found in high-end and mid-range Samsung smartphones, as well as 720p and 1080p HD displays on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Colors are muted and detail is not sharp. Mainly obeying user commands, the device sometimes stops responding, requiring several convincing taps to complete the desired action.

However, not everything is so bleak. The screen of a Samsung smartphone, joining forces with the Android OS, automatically dims when the battery charge reaches the lower limit of its capabilities, extending the time autonomous work... In addition, the display is protected from scratches by Gorilla Glass.

Interface

After launching the model with Android 2.2 Froyo installed, a year later it was migrated to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. However, in the future, the manufacturer's support ceased, and the appearance of the Jelly Bean version, in which many improvements were made, made the model obsolete even at its release. However, for a novice smartphone user, this is not so important - for its value, it does the job just fine.

The model combines an operating system with Samsung's TouchWiz interface. It provides a proven and secure software shell that meets user needs without offering revolutionary solutions or inspiring environments. The intuitive platform treats the user with a standard set of pre-installed Google apps that are easy to organize along with a variety of widgets and shortcuts on a somewhat limited trio of desktops.

Largely due to the limited 258 MB RAM and 800 MHz CPU, opening programs becomes a difficult task, since they are preceded by a short pause. Interruptions are observed in other situations as well. Waking up the phone from sleep mode is sometimes slow, often forcing you to press the button repeatedly. This creates an annoying vicious circle of opposing button presses.

Scrolling through menus and lists is also slightly slowed down - a smooth start is accompanied by abrupt stops. This slows down the user's work, and also distinguishes the device from some peers and even weaker competitors.

On the bottom of the screen, there are 4 main apps for calls, contacts, messages and menus, which are separated from the rest of the programs above them, just like in iOS. There is also an excellent task manager widget that allows you to conserve battery life by showing which programs are currently running in the background.

In the Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830, the battery is not very durable. The standard is used lithium ion battery capacity of 1350 mAh, which, despite its low power compared to other smartphones, is able to keep the phone running throughout the day.

Another useful widget is the bar at the top of the screen that allows you to quickly turn Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and sync on or off, and increase the brightness of the image.

Unfortunately for users who don't like to play, the built-in games for the Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 cannot be uninstalled. They clutter up memory and space on the menu screen.

From the point of view of telephone communication, the model leaves a double impression. The standard set of contacts and call menus are easy to set up and navigate. Thanks to TouchWiz 3.0, contacts can be easily integrated with Facebook, Twitter and Google accounts, which is a definite plus for social media lovers. The contact history is convenient, as it shows not only received and made calls, but also messages. But the caller's audibility is not very clear, and it may take several attempts to answer the ringing signal.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830), which was priced as a mid-range device when it launched in 2011, had a relatively decent 5MP sensor. But gradually it ceased to meet the requirements of the market, which offered many budget models that produce high-quality images.

According to user reviews, a well-functioning dedicated macro mode is missing. The camera struggles to focus when the target is too close. Attempts to photograph a close object confuse the autofocus system and out of sync, resulting in poor quality and very disappointing footage.

The attempt to remedy this situation with magnification raises a wide range of new questions. Although the phone has 2x digital zoom, which is far from impressive, in reality this function can only be used when shooting with reduced image quality. The upper resolution limit does not allow either optical or digital zoom to be activated.

There is no quick launch button for the camera app, and the tiny amount of internal memory (158 MB) means that you cannot take pictures until you have inserted the 2 GB memory card that came with your smartphone.

In ample lighting conditions, the phone is capable of capturing impressive pictures, offering a choice of single, continuous and panoramic modes and a smile-activated shutter. The Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830) has less than ideal camera characteristics, with the built-in LED flash often overwhelming the subject, making some parts of the image too pronounced, leaving others in deep darkness. There is little help from her when it comes to capturing the perfect shot.

Though front-camera is used quite rarely for video communication, its absence is a clear omission, which is very noticeable in the market for mid-range smartphones. It also deprives users of the in-demand opportunity to take selfies. There are a variety of photo modes to choose from, and most of them improve image quality.

Video

According to user reviews, the phone does not meet the HD standards that are a must in the mid-range smartphone market today. The Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830), whose settings do not allow you to shoot video with a resolution of more than 640 x 480 pixels and a frequency of 24 fps, is too outdated. You won't be able to get pleasure from the footage on large screens. Users are advised against even trying to do this.

The recipe for successful video shooting with Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830) is a cloudless sky on a sunny day. The phone's often mistakenly prudent color management system causes an overexposed image, which gives frames an unwanted artificial yellow tint. That being said, a pleasant surprise is the smartphone's ability to record loud, clear sound with good directionality and isolation of unwanted background noise when shooting video. A useful function is the countdown of the remaining memory capacity, which will allow you to navigate how much space a puny two-gigabyte card will take up shooting.

Multimedia

While Micro-SD cards are a relatively cheap and readily available storage option, the Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830) lack of storage is an annoying omission. The lack of ROM means that no picture can be taken without Micro-SD.

Having a music player and FM radio allows the smartphone to be a media center. However, due to the weak built-in speaker, this potential is not destined to be realized. The weak acoustics of the Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830) reproduce little bass and produce a metallic sound that, when watching movies, is not able to support an unremarkable screen. Only the location of the speaker saves the situation. Unlike many smartphones, whose sound sources are located in the most inappropriate places, which significantly degrade the audio quality, the speaker is located at the back in the center of the phone.

Videos and music files are stored in separate applications (gallery and music player respectively). This means that if you want to watch a music video after listening to the soundtrack, you will have to exit one program and enter another. The videos in the gallery are sorted by date and are played only in landscape mode.

Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace phone is not suitable to launch video player. It can play a variety of multimedia files, but a combination of low screen resolution and lack of internal memory means you have to invest in a large Micro-SD card before thinking about a movie marathon. The user will not get anything similar to the Galaxy S3, since the smartphone does not even have an OLED display.

Battery life

Promising 420 min. in standby mode with 3G on, Samsung overestimated the 1350 mAh Li-Ion battery. According to the owners, during testing, it loses its charge much faster than the advertising seven hours. Charging the battery takes a long time, unlike, for example, the Panasonic Eluga Power, which can reach 50% charge in just 30 minutes. Like many smartphones, the Galaxy Ace suffers from rapid battery drain. According to the owners, he is able to withstand one day if not working for several hours in a row.

In terms of connectivity, GPS connectivity is paired with the standard Wi-Fi and Bluetooth suite so you can enjoy Google maps and assign geolocation tags to photos. Standing out from the competition, the phone allows you to share your Internet connection via a USB cable to such devices without mobile communications like laptops. It's always nice to know that for a small amount you can get satellite navigation, mobile hotspot and Wi-Fi connection in one case.

Advantages and disadvantages

Is the phone good? No. Already at its release, it was very mediocre and did not change for the better. The smartphone fits comfortably in the hand and has a good design. With interchangeable black and white back panels, it offers a design that will appeal to a wide range of users. Simple in operating Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830) "Android" of the outdated modification does not spoil, and its price is simply amazing. You can buy a phone for 4.5 thousand rubles.

However, the phone sluggishly wakes up from sleep mode, and its low-resolution TFT display lacks the vibrant colors that are common in Samsung models. Equipped with a weak camera, the smartphone is filled with software that can turn it into a universal media center, but Hardware does not allow you to do this, because audio and visual capabilities fall short of expectations. The interface does not give confidence to the owner dealing with for the first time Android device... He will be extremely disappointed, thinking that this is how all smartphones work.

Conclusion

The Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace phone cannot be recommended. Even if there are those who are desperate to get some inexpensive smartphone, this is still not something that might suit them. There are other, cheaper and more powerful models. Outdated smartphone software also does not speak in its favor.

The processor could not cope with the loads back in January 2011, and modern more resource-intensive applications only exacerbate the situation. The screen and pre-installed software are remnants of the days when the manufacturer was just trying to enter the smartphone market.

The Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830) is an echo of the early days of Android, so modern software doesn't work as well on it. This is not the South Korean company's fault. The model was supposed to leave the stage at the end of its life cycle, but for some reason its release was continued.
