What's new in this release?

1.9.2 (29.09.2016)

  • We are working on bugs that lead to crashes when launching the application on Samsung S4 and Note 3;
  • We are working on an issue that prevented the map from moving on some devices without a built-in gyroscope.

Constellation map and starry sky JPG

One of the best, in my opinion, star map... The equatorial part of the starry sky is built in a cylindrical projection, and the poles in azimuthal projections. Thanks to this refraction at the junctions of these projections, they are reduced to a minimum, but let it not surprise you in any way that some constellations are seen twice: on the maps of the poles and the equatorial one. presented as an image in jpg format in a fairly high resolution.

Google Sky constellations and sky map

An unrivaled interactive map of the stars, constellations and galaxies. Done big job and from a huge number of photographs taken by the Hubble orbiting telescope, a map of the entire starry sky has been compiled, increasing the scale of which you can see the starry sky, which is in no way visible, not only with the naked eye, but even in an optical telescope from Earth. In addition, this constellation map makes it possible to collect starry sky in constellations, see their historical images, as well as take a tour of our solar system, view the sky in invisible infrared and microwave spectra.

Constellation map and starry sky from Google Earth service (Google Earth)

Taking Google Sky and Google Map as a basic basis, Google programmers and artists went even further and created a browser program that, connecting to a single database via the Web, downloads Earth maps to your PC and star maps and also maps of the Moon and Mars. The Google Earth Project is booming and open to anyone wishing to contribute. For example, you can apply on constellation map a three-dimensional model of your own objects, if someone else has not done so yet. The service also allows you to record videos based on a map, overlay them with voice or musical accompaniment and save it as a video file.

Constellation and Star Map Photopic Sky Survey

Another fun, cool, interactive starry sky project with easy navigation. As was the case with Google Earth in the past, constellation map obtained by combining a large number of true 5-megapixel photographs into one picture and obtaining circular panorama of stars and constellations It is allowed to display a layer with connected constellations on top, however, unlike Google Sky and Google Earth, the image cannot be saved.

1. Map of the starry sky and constellations

The most optimal, in my opinion, star map... The equatorial part is built in cylindrical projection, and the poles in azimuthal projection. Thanks to this, distortions at the junction of these projections are minimized, but do not be surprised that some constellations occur twice: on the maps of the poles and the equatorial one. The map is presented as an image in jpeg format in high enough resolution.

2. Google Sky

An unrivaled interactive sky map. A titanic work has been done, and from a huge number of photographs taken by the Hubble orbiting telescope, a map of the entire starry sky has been compiled, increasing the scale of which you can see stars that are not visible, not only with the naked eye, but even in an optical telescope from Earth. In addition, the service provides an opportunity to compose stars into constellations, view their historical images, as well as take a tour of the solar system, see the sky in invisible infrared and microwave ranges.

3. Service Google Earth (Google Earth)

Taking Google Sky and Google Map as a basis, Google programmers and designers went even further and created a browser program that, connecting to a single database via the Internet, downloads maps of the Earth and the sky, as well as the surfaces of the Moon and Mars, to your computer. The Google Planet Earth project is developing rapidly and is open to anyone who wants to contribute. For example, you can map a 3D model of your home if others have not already done so. The service also allows you to record videos based on a map, overlay them with voice or music, and save it as a video file.

4. Photopic Sky Survey

Another interesting stunning project of the starry sky online with convenient control... As in the previous case with Google, the image was obtained by stitching a huge number of real 5-megapixel photographs into a single whole and obtaining a circular panorama of the starry sky. You can overlay a tracing-paper layer with connected constellation lines, but, unlike Google Sky and Google Earth, the image cannot be saved.

Astronomy as a science can be loved or not loved, but probably there is no such person who would not be attracted by the beauty of the starry sky. Each of us at least once in our life peered at the stars and constellations, trying to understand if there is anyone there and if we are alone in the Universe ...

Stargazing is one of the popular hobbies. Recently on sale you can find just a huge variety of telescope models with which you can observe the stars and planets.
