Exlay rio sizes. Big Explay Rio smartphone for little money! The main camera of a mobile device is usually located on its rear panel and can be combined with one or more additional cameras

The Explay Rio comes standard. In addition to the instructions, a cable for connecting to a PC and charger there is also a mediocre headset. There are no replaceable panels and covers included with the Explay Rio.

Dimensions - 3.9

We compared the dimensions of the Explay Rio smartphone with other five-inch smartphones and we can note that it is heavy enough for a model made of plastic - 172 grams. As for the thickness of the case, it is quite typical - less than 1 cm. It is inconvenient to operate the smartphone with one hand.

The main material used in the Explay Rio phone is matte plastic, pleasant to the touch. The smartphone, in our opinion, looks pretty, and there are almost no fingerprints on the body. The build quality is okay, even good for this price, and in appearance you might think that this is a device with a price higher than it actually is.

The Explay Rio can be purchased in the following colors: purple, white, black and orange.

Screen - 2.8

The diagonal of the display is 5 inches, the screen resolution is 854 × 480 pixels and, as a result, the low density of pixels per inch is 196, which is especially noticeable in small fonts. I would like to see an IPS matrix, but for the sake of a low price, a TN matrix is used. The screen has medium viewing angles and a low brightness level (321 cd / m2), without a reserve for a sunny day or bright lighting around. The picture is fuzzy and unclear, as are the colors on the display. Despite the average brightness, the display remains readable in sunny weather. There is also an automatic brightness control function, but the impression is that it does not regulate anything: when the function is turned on, the brightness is dimmed, but then it no longer responds to changes in illumination. The display quality matches the low price of a smartphone.

Camera

The Explay Rio smartphone has a 2 MP camera with LED flash and no autofocus. The camera interface is standard, but the settings are inconvenient and do not allow you to increase the photo resolution from 1 megapixel images to 2 megapixels with a resolution of 1600 × 1200, until you change the aspect ratio (from 16: 9 to 4: 3) in a separate setting. Initially, there was a feeling that the declared 2 megapixel is just a hoax. The maximum video resolution is also 1280 × 720, which is not bad. However, the recording speed is only 10 frames per second, instead of the "standard" 30. But the sound is recorded in stereo. The device has a front camera, but, in our opinion, it is present only for show. The quality of the camera is low, it will only suit the most undemanding users.

Working with text - 1.0

The Explay Rio does not have its own keyboard, it comes preinstalled with a Google keyboard. The solution, one might say, is standard for such brands. We also note the convenient and familiar arrangement of the keys, the ability to quickly dial numbers by holding the key, but for some reason, gesture input (Swype) is not supported. The device has a meager dictionary in the keyboard: it does not know most of the Russian words, so if you make a mistake while typing, it is unlikely that the keyboard will automatically correct the typo. In our opinion, this is the main drawback of the keyboard. On the other hand, thanks to the large display area, the Explay Rio is relatively convenient for typing texts, but due to the same dimensions, it is no longer very convenient to do it with one hand.

Internet - 3.0

As in the case of the keyboard, the manufacturer did not replace the built-in browser with its own or reinstall any other browsers on the phone. Nothing wrong with that, standard browser from Android is easy to use and quite fast. The browser supports automatic adjustment of the text to a predetermined size, for this, after increasing or decreasing the text, you should double-click on the screen, and the text will automatically adjust. There is no separate reading mode, but you can simply disable the loading of graphics and images on the pages.

Interfaces

The Explay Rio smartphone has the following interfaces: Wi-Fi (b / g / n) (of course, there is no support for dual-band Wi-Fi), Bluetooth and GPS. I was surprised by the lack of 3G support. With buttons and connectors, the standard case is the volume key on the left, the power key on the right, a micro-USB 2.0 connector and a headset jack on the top.

Multimedia - 4.2

We tried to play various video files on the Explay Rio smartphone. The smartphone supports almost all common formats and codecs. The player plays video in high quality, including Full HD resolution. There is no subtitle and audio track selection. The audio player in the smartphone plays only the popular formats MP3, AAC, WAV. However, if you find through file manager track in FLAC format, the smartphone plays it too, but the "Audio" application does not find them. Formally, the Explay Rio smartphone plays tracks in FLAC format, but in this form it is simply inconvenient to listen to them. In our opinion, using the Explay Rio as a compact video or audio player is not the best option.

Battery - 2.1

The Explay Rio phone has a removable 1800 mAh Li-ion battery - not bad capacity for such a modest price. Test results are average for budget phone: When watching HD video at maximum brightness, it takes 3 and a half hours for the device (for example, Galaxy S4 Mini in 6 hours), while listening to music - in 36 hours (35 hours for Galaxy S4 Mini). Cellular telephone Explay Rio fully charged in 2.5-3 hours.

Performance - 1.5

Explay Rio uses a budget MediaTek MT6572 platform with two cores in a processor and a frequency of 1.3 GHz, a graphics subsystem - Mali-400 MP, volume random access memory- 512 MB. As you can see, the characteristics are very modest. The speed of work is not the strongest point of the Explay Rio. In our tests, we periodically observed a slowdown when scrolling through pages in the browser, but for calls and SMS, more than enough. The use of such a chipset is driven by the desire to set a low end price for the smartphone. There is simply nowhere to download games on Explay Rio, there is no place, and only games that are undemanding to hardware will start.

Memory - 2.5

The built-in memory in Explay Rio is 512 MB and this is no joke. More precisely, this is a joke, but a bad one from the manufacturer. That is, you can safely add the cost of a memory card to the price of a smartphone. The memory card is not detected as inner memory, installing large applications will turn into a headache, since you have to root and re-partition the memory. After that, you can put some kind of game, which is more likely to slow down.

A smartphone is nowhere without a memory card; of course, there is a slot for it, cards up to 32 GB are supported. The possibility of hot swapping the memory card seems to be there, you need to remove the cover and insert the card, the battery does not interfere with doing this, and you will not have to reboot the device. But the battery prevents you from pulling out and replacing the card, that is, just to “replace” the memory card, you will have to reboot.

Peculiarities

The main features of the Explay Rio smartphone are pleasant appearance with normal assembly, problems with tiny memory and lack of services from Google, including Play Market-a. Play Market will have to download separately, go into the settings and allow installation third party applications and install the store from a memory card. Considering 512 MB on the phone, you may have to install it again on the same memory card. Along with the need to "root" because of a small memory, there are already a lot of actions and unnecessary headaches that it is easy to work with a smartphone. Otherwise, this is typical Android with slightly redrawn icons of standard applications.

It's time to enlarge the display

The new budget smartphone from the Russian company Explay - Rio has a large five-inch TFT display, which is an indisputable advantage of a smartphone with an RRP of only 3,790 rubles.

Budget smartphones usually have a display of no more than 4 inches, the new Explay Rio features a bright 5-inch TFT display with a resolution of 854 * 480 pixels.

Gps

The built-in GPS module and a large display with good viewing angles allow Explay Rio to be used as a navigator, just download the navigation application or maps.

DUAL-SIM

The smartphone has two SIM card slots. Two active SIM cards give great privileges to their owner. For example, it becomes possible to combine a work and personal number in one device or save money by choosing suitable tariff plans at different operators... A dual-SIM device can be connected to any operator cellular and enjoy twice the mobile connection.

Dual core performance

The powerful dual-core MTK6572 processor with a frequency of 1.3 GHz is responsible for the performance of the Explay Rio. The RAM of the device is 512 MB, the built-in memory is 512 MB, and the memory of the smartphone can also be increased up to 32 GB using a microSD card.

Android 4.2.2

Operating Android system 4.2.2 Jelly Bean has many useful functions, and it will not be difficult to download additional applications from Yandex.Market.

Vivid impressions

Explay Rio has an attractive design and comes in four colors: white, black, orange and purple. With Explay Rio you can: share vivid impressions with friends, chat on social networks, check mail, surf the Internet, watch movies and photos, listen to music, read books or take pictures of the highlights of your life.

Explay Rio supports: Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, has a number of standard and additional applications, such as voice recorder, mail, FM radio, Yandex application package and two cameras: 2 and 0.3 megapixels.

The smartphone is made in a plastic case, dimensions 145x73x9.7mm, weight 174 grams.

Explay Rio specifications

  • Official price at the start of sales: 3 790 rubles (end of May 2014)

We tried for a long time to find an adequate competitor to the Explay Rio in all respects, including the price, but we did not find it. Smartphones similar from a functional point of view are much more expensive, while similar ones in price are significantly inferior to the Rio.

The only suitable competitor to the Qumo QUEST 500 is a relatively old smartphone: it is too large, heavy, has outdated version Bluetooth module and previous version Android.

Appearance

Usually, inexpensive smartphones are dull black bricks of cheap plastic. But Explay RIO is not like that.

It is both bright and for its price the smartphone is perhaps even too well assembled - no backlashes and crunches, dangling buttons, quickly scratching or peeling plastic.

A smartphone with a white back cover and ends, but other bright colors are also available for sale: orange, purple, and classic black is also available.

There are three touch buttons to control the Android OS interface (in addition to touch screen): menu, home and back.

At the top there is a headphone jack and micro-USB for charging and synchronizing with a computer. When connected to a computer, Explay Rio allows you to access the memory card as a removable disk.

The volume rocker is located on the left side.

On the right is the on / off screen lock button. It is convenient to press it using a smartphone, you do not need to stretch your fingers.

And in general, the smartphone lies in the hand like a glove, does not create discomfort.

The battery is removable, access to the slots for SIM-cards and micro-SD can be obtained only by removing it.

Screen

Explay Rio is equipped with a 5-inch TFT-screen with a resolution of 854x480 pixels, supporting multitouch (up to 2 clicks at the same time). Yes, this is not HD, but in reality the image clarity is sufficient. There are also no special problems with the brightness margin - some much more expensive smartphones have much worse brightness.

Software and interface

The smartphone runs on Android 4.2 operating system with a standard interface, but with redrawn icons. The preinstalled software includes a complete set of applications from Yandex, including the Yandex.Store. In this regard, the standard for Android Google play Market is initially absent, but it can be downloaded from the Internet and installed - thus, you can get access to two app stores at once, although in Yandex.Store you can find everything you need: clients social networks, IM-messengers, games.

List of applications

In addition to applications from Yandex, the manufacturer has preinstalled a file manager (for managing files on an SD card), several game stores (EA Store and Games & Soft) and a "flashlight" - a simple application that includes an LED flash. Here, by the way, you can send an SOS signal. We hope you don't need this, but suddenly.

Since the smartphone supports two SIM cards, you can control their behavior in the settings menu: assign the main SIM card for various actions (voice calls, sending SMS / MMS, Mobile Internet). Instead of specifying a specific SIM card in each case, you can select the "Request" option - and then, when performing this action, the smartphone will ask you which SIM card to use.

For each SIM card, you can assign your own name (by default - the name of the operator), set the color (by default - blue and orange for the first and second SIM cards, respectively).

By the way, Explay Rio uses mini-SIM slots (or "regular" SIM cards), but if you have a micro-SIM or nano-SIM, you don't have to change it, just use an adapter (in communication salons, a set of adapters is usually 150-200 rubles for sale).

Also, Explay Rio has a customization of sound profiles. Usually, modern smartphones use only three profiles: normal, vibro and silent, but some users who are accustomed to old "dialers" need more. Here you can set up as many profiles as you need.

And another nice function that came from the "good old" times - automatic shutdown and inclusion of the smartphone on schedule. Of course, you can just turn off the sound at night, but even with the sound turned off, the smartphone consumes battery and mobile traffic. By the way, Explay Rio also knows how to automatically turn on according to the configured alarm clock.

Otherwise, everything here is like in any normal smartphone: Internet, GPS, games, and so on.

Performance

What is a smartphone capable of for 3800 rubles? In fact, a lot. The only functional limitation in it is the small amount of internal memory, so, of course, you cannot do without an SD card. Well, you have to remember to transfer the installed applications to this card. Otherwise, the 2-core MTK6572 processor and Mali-400MP graphics will even allow you to run some modern games. By the way, the Mali-400MP was only in flagship smartphones a couple of years ago, some of which are still popular.

Ashpalt 8: jittery, but playable

We tested the Explay Rio with the AnTuTu Benchmark and it said “Good”.

Of course, space performance from such affordable smartphone wait and not worth it. But for everyday work, social networks, browsing the Internet, and even movies, it is quite enough. We have specially tested the playback of HD movies on the Explay Rio - no problem, even with MKV format... But, again, a memory card is required (the smartphone supports micro-SD cards up to 32 GB).

The main thing is that the interface does not lag here, as on most cheap smartphones.

Camera

Explay Rio's simple 2-megapixel camera allows you to prepare pictures for Instagram, other social networks, as well as for your contact list.

Gallery of pictures.

Clicking on a thumbnail will open a full-size image

If you want photo masterpieces, it is better to buy either a smartphone for 20-30 thousand, or a camera.

Battery

The 1800 mAh battery for the Explay Rio smartphone is enough for a couple of days of active work, up to 3 days in dialer mode, or 8-9 hours of video playback. In general, there is no need to complain about the autonomy. So AnTuTu Tester gave 532 points to the smartphone - a figure above the average. Another reason not to take the most sophisticated devices - they tend to discharge much faster, even if they are just in your pocket.

Total

The Explay Rio is the most affordable 5-inch smartphone on the market. At the same time, it is well-assembled, quite smart, and with support for two SIM-cards. You won't have to complain about its telephone functions either: the connection is stable, the voice transmission does not cause any complaints, and the external speaker is very loud, it is difficult to miss a call.

Thus, Explay Rio is a dual-SIM phone that costs like a regular dual-SIM phone, but at the same time is also a smartphone with a 5-inch screen.

Explay Rio features a bright 5 inch TFT display with a resolution of 854 * 480 pixels. The built-in GPS module and a large display with good viewing angles allow Explay Rio to be used as a navigator, just download the navigation application or maps. The smartphone has two SIM card slots.
