Ways to transfer contacts to Xiaomi. Ways to transfer contacts to Xiaomi Miui 8 how to upload contacts to xiaomi

Detailed review of the changes in MIUI 8 for Redmi Note 3 (Qualcomm).

MIUI 8 now has a new font called "Mi Lanting". You might say, “What's wrong with that? What's new? " But after a few days of use, you yourself will notice that this minor change is crucial. The new font makes optimal use of space for headings and status lines, while looking sleeker and more elegant. Compared to the MIUI 7 font, “Mi Lanting” looks amazing!

From the design side, there are still many new products. The lock screen wallpaper uses the basic colors of the rainbow, and this is combined with geometric lines lined up in the face of a diamond. It is impossible not to notice the updated hours, where hours and minutes are now on the same level.

The MIUI 8 application has changes that are obvious even to the naked eye, including an enlarged dialing surface, a green marine color of the substrate, instead of the standard gray, access to the search bar in recent tabs. In addition, MIUI 8 displays more contacts than MIUI 7 when dialing is minimized. Pay attention to how attentive the MIUI 8 developers are, and to what trifles they thought over the interface of their product so that the user was as comfortable as possible using MIUI 8.

The calling interface has also changed. MIUI 8 now uses a round icon to display a contact photo, unlike MIUI 7, where it took up half a page. You can turn on the loudspeaker using the text button in the lower left corner, so that you can quickly take the necessary notes during a call. When the speaker mode is selected, the background changes to a lighter one and vice versa. Among other things, the developers have improved the animation effects when accepting and ending a conversation.

The contact book in MIUI 8 looks much cleaner and is better organized than in MIUI 7. The background has been changed from gray to white, and with the addition of a floating button, more contacts are displayed in the window. Entering a new contact has also become easier, you can now fill in the fields "Name", "Company", "Title" in one window, without going into each separately.

Contact information has also undergone major changes. The Edit option has become a floating button located in the lower right corner, and the Options have been shifted to display the panel more clearly. New is the "History" in adding contacts, where you can check the recently added ones. Despite this, the MIUI 8 contact book looks much more transparent and organized than MIUI 7. And instead of the standard one color for the entire list, each contact will have one of the seven colors offered by MIUI 8.

The app market has changed too. Now you can install new fonts, change wallpapers, download music with one touch - just swipe left or right. When switching titles, the top panel also changes color.

In the settings of the MIUI 8 pages, the number of points has been reduced by 8 positions. At the same time, all the options that were in MIUI 7 remained in place, with the exception of "Alerts". Although you can customize them using the "Melody" page. The "Home screen" and "Lock screen" have now been merged into one section "Wallpaper", and to quickly make backup themes, given a shortcut button.

Changed display when selecting a theme. Now you can quickly delete a theme using the key in the upper right corner, instead of scrolling down the page to select the "Delete" option.

And here are a few features that were simply removed in MIUI 8. Among them, the data on saving the battery profile. It is now impossible to have multiple battery profiles and switch between them. This feature was hidden in the battery settings in the upper right corner.

The Battery Economy option in MIUI 8 has been greatly simplified. However, we have new function battery analysis, which is available in the battery menu. To use it, just click the Analyze Battery Usage button and view a detailed battery status report.

The interface design has also been updated for the camera app. By swiping left / right, you can select photo settings or effects, among which there are many new ones. Now you can play with images, apply more filters and make them even brighter and more interesting. Each mode has its own icon in the interface for quick access. Despite all the new features, some features have been removed. So, now there is no way to switch the front and rear cameras with one touch. The animation when switching between photos and videos has become smoother and more minimalistic compared to the version in MIUI 7.

We've also improved the audio recording interface. The nautical blue theme combined with the waving pattern looks great. Although, as for the functions themselves, there are no changes here.

Without them, the calendar functionality was also left, although the interface itself has become more interactive. When you switch between months, the color changes and the current date becomes the bottom floating icon if you are viewing other numbers and dates.

The MIUI 8 calculator has changed dramatically for the better. Finally added% that was missing in MIUI 7! The display itself for calculations has become an order of magnitude larger, and there are more possibilities for calculations, which can be opened in the upper right corner.

In addition to the standard calculator, there are also special ones, including a currency converter, credit calculator, tax calculator, scientific calculator, so you can cope with any mathematical operations. Especially relevant is a currency converter, the dollar exchange rate can be found at any time you need it.

The Notes app in MIUI 8 has been improved a lot compared to its predecessor. The display of the list of notes has changed the style - it is now a grid or timeline. You can choose a style yourself by clicking on the icon in the upper right corner. The color scheme is also pleasing to the eye. When filling out a note, the background changes its color.

You can also apply special themes to your notes and make them brighter and more colorful, as if you drew them in your paper notebook. The only drawback is that there is no way to use these ones to display the widget on the desktop.

In order to maximize user security, the developers have added the ability to hide your Notes with a password. To do this, just drag the note down and the hidden place will become available.

The interface of the Settings page has also been optimized and uses a dark gray background color. Changes were also made on the "Blocks and Permissions" settings page. MIUI 8 has two new features on the Settings page: Second Space and Cloned Apps. We'll talk about them below.

The status bar in MIUI 8 now looks like a deck map. The length of the status bar is not static and depends on the number of your notifications. Even the color of the line now depends on the weather, it will be green on a sunny day and blue in cloudy weather. You don't even have to open the weather, but learn about it simply from the status bar. The status bar animation for up and down taps has also changed to become smooth and fluid, like the movement of water.

If you are not happy with the appearance of the MIUI 8 Status Bar, you can easily fix it. Just go to Settings and then Notifications & Status Bars, then select the layout switch and select Individual. And now you are back to the status bar in MIUI 7.

There are some improvements and quick access to recently used applications. So, music player control is added on top of all applications. In the upper right corner there is an icon for switching between program viewing modes - icons or pages. Therefore, you do not need to enlarge or reduce the image, you can simply choose the one you need. In addition, the overall layout of the elements has been optimized to minimize the use of space.

MIUI 8 stands out for its rounded app update design, while MIUI 7 has a triangle at its core. These little touches give the impression of an open space in the interface.

The head-screen clock has got a new one appearance, now minutes and hours are aligned. And the height of the watch itself has decreased. The toggle icons on the Lock Screen have a modified appearance. Also, less space is now taken up by the Google search bar. It is thanks to these changes that the desktop has become even more convenient and more free space.

Introduction of new features in MIUI 8

An unexpected solution with a screenshot, who would have thought that it could be made even more convenient and useful ... Well, what can be improved in this function? This can be roughly called a "long screenshot". After you have taken a photo of the page, it will float in the upper right corner. If desired, you can edit it, for example, add text with explanations and expand it, you can also edit it even while it is still swimming. A floating screenshot animation is something!

I think everyone knows about a similar function on Apple smartphones or Samsung. But MIUI 8's floating shortcut menu icon is much easier to organize than you might think. It allows you to have quick access to up to 5 shortcuts and configure access to any hidden applications. If you do not use this menu for more than 2 seconds, it will become almost transparent so as not to interfere with you. You can configure this parameter in the Settings - Additional parameters - Context menu.

We have already mentioned the "Second Space" function above, and now we will take a closer look at the new product. This is the ability to create multiple spaces for different users. Something like Windows systems on your computer. The second space can contain completely different applications and elements that you customize. To switch between spaces, just select a user and enter a password when the screen is locked.

App cloning is also one of the new features that has already been mentioned, and now about it in detail. With MIUI 8, you can now create another copy of applications, for example, to use two accounts in in social networks and not switch between accounts. The clone button is located in the lower left corner and is indicated by a yellow icon. This way, with cloning, you can stay personal. Facebook account and lead the worker at the same time.

One of the most functional novelties is the new MIUI 8 scanners. Now they have wider functionality even for the most demanding users. There are 6 different scanner options available, including the already well-known QR code scanner and the trade scanner. About the second in more detail - with its help you can find any product in the famous Chinese online store Taobao. This can be done by photographing the desired position and uploading it to the trade scanner - similar products, prices, details and everything you want to know about this product. The trade scanner is useful for users all over the world and is not limited to the borders of the Republic of China.

There is also a built-in translator. V this moment it can translate up to 7 languages, including English, Chinese, Japanese, French, Spanish, German and Korean. But almost all languages will be translated into Chinese. An application for solving complex mathematical problems has also been added.

The highlight and main decoration of MIUI 8, in our opinion, is the application for scanning and editing documents. You can edit or crop the document, and even extract text from it, albeit only in one language. And yet, the function gives you a lot of options for processing your documents just on the way to work.

conclusions

The MIUI 8 version has many differences from its predecessor, while MIUI 6 did not differ significantly from MIUI 7. Now there is more space, the main applications have acquired a new look, and the functionality has expanded with at least a dozen new products. We think MIUI 8 will bring more features and comfort to the lives of its users, and all this combined with a very elegant picture.

In this article, we will look at the interesting features of the MIUI shell. You may have heard of some of them, but many interesting functions are veiled in such a way that they are difficult to find, so many do not even know about them. Let's take a look at some of them.

INCREASE RING VOLUME

Enabling this function is not in the sound settings, as it would be logical, but in the settings of the "Phone" application. To activate this feature, you need to go to the settings of the "Phone" application and in the "Incoming calls" section, enable the item "Increase the volume". In the same section, you can find other interesting settings, such as:
- Mute the call when rolling over;
- Muting the call when picking up;
- Flash notification;
- Proximity sensor;
- Muting the beginning of the call.

The purpose of each of the items is explained directly below it (see screenshot).

REPLACING THE CALL SCREEN BACKGROUND

If you are tired of the blue background when making (receiving) calls, then you can apply the lock screen wallpaper there. To do this, go to the settings of the "Phone" application, go to the "Advanced settings" section and in the "Call screen background" change the "Default" value to "Lock screen wallpaper".

There are also other settings in this section:
- Sound when dialing a number;
- Autodial;
- Reminder of missed calls;
- Vibration when answering the interlocutor;
- other.

QUICK CHANGE OF SMS MESSAGE STATUS

In the SMS list, swipe the message from left to right in order to mark it as read.

QUICK DELETE SMS MESSAGE

Swipe on a message from right to left - deletes the current message.

LARGE TEXT WHEN VIEWING THE SMS MESSAGE

When viewing an SMS message, if you tap on the text 2 times, the message will be displayed on the whole screen, in larger text. Convenient when reading long SMS.

FUNCTION "ANSWER"

Upon receipt of SMS, the notification is displayed for a while at the top of the display. To the right of the message there is a "Reply" button, by clicking on it you can write a quick reply.

SECURING SMS MESSAGES FROM A CERTAIN CONTACT

The pinned message will always appear at the top of the list. To do this, press and hold the message, in the functions that appear at the bottom of the screen, select "Pin". This message will move to the very top and will be marked with a blue arrow in the upper corner. You can attach one or several messages.

HIDE SMS MESSAGES FROM SELECTED CONTACTS

To do this, you need to make a swipe from top to bottom in the list of SMS messages, until the "Lock" appears. At initial setup you need to enter the password from the MI - account. After that, you will need to add a pattern or pin code. Further in the settings, enter the phone number (or select from contacts). Now messages from the selected contacts will not be available in the general list; to view them, you need to swipe from top to bottom again and enter the set password or key (unlocking with a fingerprint is possible).

BLOCKING SMS MESSAGES

When you add certain numbers or prefixes to the "Black List", you will not receive messages from them, they will be automatically blocked. This method also works with phone calls; further we will not focus on this. To add numbers to the black list, go to "Security" - "Black list". Next, in the settings, add the entire number or a prefix (the beginning of the number, for example 495, calls and SMS from numbers starting with 495 will be automatically blocked). For SMS, blocking by keywords is also possible.

SENDING SMS MESSAGES AT A SPECIFIED TIME

There is an interesting opportunity to send a deferred SMS at a time of your choice, and you can select a year, month, day and time. It is very convenient if you need to send a reminder to yourself (to the second SIM card) or someone else, or, for example, set up automatic sending of birthday greetings. When creating an SMS, choose who you want to send, enter the required text, press "+" to the left of the message text.

In the window that appears, select the date and time.

The message will look like this. Above the message text is displayed when the message is sent.

Click the arrow to the right of the text to send.

HIDING PHOTOS IN THE GALLERY

Hiding a photo is possible according to the same principle as hiding an SMS. Activated by swiping from top to bottom in the gallery. The rest of the settings are the same. An MI account is required.

ROTATE PHOTOS IN THE GALLERY

To do this, just click on the photo in the "Gallery" with two fingers and rotate it in any direction.

DIVIDED DESKTOP

On the menu running applications drag the application icon up until two desktops are displayed. This feature is only available on MIUI 9 with Android 7.x.x.

ONE HAND CONTROL

An interesting feature of the MIUI shell, which will be especially useful for owners of smartphones with a large screen diagonal. To activate this mode but you need to make a swipe from the "Home" button in the direction in which the screen will move (to the right or to the left). By clicking on the "Gear" in one of the lower corners (depending on where the desktop is displaced), we will get into the settings of this mode, where you can adjust to what size the desktop will be reduced (in inches).

To exit the published mode, just click on the dark area of the screen.

APPLICATION PROTECTION

You can make it so that when launching certain applications, you are prompted for a password. So you can secure the reading of your correspondence in any messenger or mail. You can protect the Gallery application to restrict access to your photos. In the "Settings" for this there is a separate item "Application Protection". Once there, select the apps you want to protect.

Enter and re-enter your password. Now the applications you have selected will only start if the correct key is entered.

WI-FI. SHARE PASSWORD

It is possible to quickly share the password from that Wi-Fi networks to which you are connected with your friends, colleagues, etc. It is much easier and faster than entering a password, especially if the password is complex, long, etc., or you simply forgot it. To do this, in the "Settings", in the "Wi-Fi" section, just click on the currently connected network.

A window with a QR code will appear.

Now, to connect to this network on another smartphone, you just need to scan the QR code.

QUICK TURN ON TO MAXIMUM SCREEN BRIGHTNESS

There are times when you go outside on a bright sunny day and you can’t see anything on the screen. the brightness of the screen was set to a very low level, which was convenient for working indoors. It is not always possible, even the first time, to enter the settings in order to increase the brightness. For this, there is a convenient function that allows you to increase the screen brightness to the maximum with a keyboard shortcut.

MIUI 8- just press the key combination "Menu" + "Volume +". The maximum brightness is set until the next screen lock. This is enough to adjust the brightness to a comfortable level.

MIUI 9 -

DISABLING NAVIGATION BUTTONS IN SELECTED APPS

This feature can be useful in games. Often during the game there are accidental clicks buttons under the smartphone screen. In this case, the game is minimized. This can be very unfortunate in the midst of events. The MIUI shell has the ability to disable navigation buttons in certain applications. In the "Advanced settings" - "Buttons and gestures", there is an item "Auto-disable navigation buttons". In it, you can select applications and specify how the buttons will be disabled.

FAST ORDERING LABELS ON THE DESKTOP

MIUI 8- just press and hold on free space to enter desktop editing mode, then shake your phone.

MIUI 9 - This feature is not currently available. Perhaps it will be added in the next firmware versions.

QUICK REMOVAL OF APPS

Due to the fact that in MIUI all installed applications are on the desktops, there is no need to go to Applications and uninstall them from there to remove them. It is enough to press and hold on the application icon and then move it up the screen to the trash. This function works only with installed applications, system applications cannot be removed in this way.

FAST LABEL MOVEMENT BETWEEN DESKTOP

To move an application shortcut (folder) between desktops, you need to hold the shortcut in edit mode and scroll through the desktops with your free hand (finger). After selecting the desired table and the position of the shortcut, release it.

CALCULATOR

This application has many more features than you might imagine. In addition to the ability to switch to engineering mode, there are many more interesting functions. Let's list some of them:
- Currency Converter. Allows you to quickly view the amount in another (selected by you) currency. Currency rate data is updated via the Internet;
- Mortgage. Allows you to find out the amount of the monthly loan payment by entering the amount, term, etc. lending conditions;
- translation of various mathematical and other values.

To select the display of additional functions in the calculator, you must click on the icon in the upper right corner.

Will be displayed with a selection of additional options.

BLINDS OF NOTIFICATIONS AND SWITCHES

The notification shade has changed with the arrival of MIUI 9. Now the swipe down opens only part of the switches and notifications. To display all the switches, you need to make another downward swipe. If someone "does not like this innovation", in "Settings" it is possible to customize the display of the curtain, as it was implemented in MIUI 8. In the "Notification and status bar" section, by selecting "Notifications and switches", you can choose from two display options: "Combine" - MIUI 9 or "Divide" - MIUI 8.

Also in this section you can configure the following functions:
- Enable notification filter;
- Select applications from which notifications will come;
- Adjust the position of the switches in the blind;
- And much more.

Most of the switches in the blind are active... Those. if you press and hold on it, you will go to its settings, for example: "Wi-Fi", "GPS", "Internet" and many others.

Curtain notifications can be quickly deleted (swipe to the right). Mark as "Unimportant" (swipe left). In this case, you will not receive notifications from this program. Also, some applications have the function of displaying a message in the curtain or displaying additional options, such as: "Reply" "Forward", "Call", etc. To display additional options you need to swipe down on the message with two fingers.

AVAILABLE FUNCTIONS IN THE SECTION "ABOUT TELEPHONE"

And finally, we have reserved two, perhaps, the most interesting features of the MIUI shell, which are not in the shells of other manufacturers.

APP CLONING

This function allows you to create a copy of any application, while it will work with your own settings... For example, you have two Accounts any messenger ("WhatsApp", "Telegram", "Viber", etc.). One account is personal, the other is work. Previously, in order to use multiple accounts on one smartphone, you had to log out of one account and log in to the second, and each time enter your credentials (login, password). It is very inconvenient and takes a lot of time, moreover, you could not use both accounts at the same time. The "Clone Applications" feature gives you this opportunity. To do this, go to "Settings" - "Clone applications" and select those applications for which you want to create a clone.

For example, let's create a clone of the Telegram program.

We agree with the cloning of Google services (if such a request appears). After that, a second shortcut for "Telegram" will be created.

As we can see, the application shortcuts are different so as not to be confused in the future. The cloned app has a yellow icon in the lower left corner. We launch the clone.

The application invites us to set up an account. Enter your data. We now have two accounts in the Telegram program. In order to create a clone for another application, follow the same procedure. To uninstall - just uncheck the box in the "Clone applications" section opposite the selected application, after that the clone will be deleted.

SECOND SPACE

This function allows you to set up two independent spaces on one smartphone. Thanks to this, we can have two smartphones in one (virtual of course). For example, you can set up one space for work and another for home (or as a "Guest" mode). Each space has its own settings. Also, it is possible to install different applications. To create a second space, go to the Second Space section in Settings and click Create Second Space.

In the next window we will see the inscription "Space has been created" - click "Continue". Now we will be asked to set a password for the second space, at this stage you can click "Skip" (later you can add a password in the settings, if required). Next, you will be prompted to install a fingerprint (if your device has a scanner). We skip it, as when setting a password. The setup is complete. In this window, leave all the items activated and click "OK". We received the second version of our system, which has standard settings as if we just installed it. The desktop differs only in the presence of additional shortcuts (marked in red in the screenshot) for:
- moving applications, photos, etc. between spaces (we will consider a little later);
- management of this space;
- transition to another space.

Also, a corresponding item will appear in the curtain for a quick transition to another space.

Moving data between spaces.

The "Application Settings" item allows you to configure the use of the selected application only in the first space, only in the second space, or in both at once.

The application can be downloaded and installed from Play Market(if not already installed in another space). To do this, you need to log into your account (accounts may be different).

Items import (export) photos, files, contacts - are used to transfer data between spaces.

When changing the space, you will need to enter a password or fingerprint, if the space to which you are moving has a password.

In the first space (after creating the second), a shortcut will also appear on the desktop and in the curtain.

To remove the second space, you need to click on the "Trash" in the upper right corner, in the "Second space" section.

In the next window, confirm the deletion.

And enter the password for the MI - account.

All the features listed in this article are available in the MIUI 8 and 9 shells (perhaps some of the functions were available in earlier firmwares). There are slight differences in their implementation, settings, display, etc. Some of them only work in a specific MIUI or Android version. Where necessary, we have pointed out the differences between MIUI 8 and MIUI 9.

We hope that after reading this article, you have learned more about the capabilities of this shell. Many of them can significantly simplify and speed up work with the device. Try to use the described opportunities in everyday life, we think that this will bring you only positive emotions.

Information for owners of smartphones of other brands. If you want to try out MIUI, you do not need to be the owner of a Xiaomi smartphone for this. The manufacturer produces its own shell for many brands of smartphones. You can see if there is a firmware for your smartphone, as well as download it, at the following links.

MIUI has come a long 6-year journey from a simple fork of CyanogenMod to a full-fledged operating system - the title for Xiaomi smartphones and tablets. But it is also installed on tens of thousands of devices from other manufacturers. many MIUI users find it more convenient and functional than the native firmware of their gadgets. Over the past couple of years, the system has become less relevant largely due to the development of stock Android and competitive skins. The operating system became "adult" by the fifth version, in MIUI v6 they radically changed the design of the graphical shell, made it flat. The seventh version brought little new and the update could be called rather minor, but MIUI 8 has greatly changed both externally and in terms of functionality.

Attention: when writing this review, the Anglo-Chinese firmware installed on. The names of applications and settings items are given in English and Russian. The international (global) version of the firmware may slightly differ from the one given in the overview by the interface and the set of applications.

Lock screen

By default, the device can be woken up with the Power button (optional with the volume rocker), double tap on the screen, or by opening the Smart Case. The latter option implies direct unlocking, in all other cases, after waking up, the gadget needs to be unlocked by swiping from bottom to top in any part of the screen. The system is able to prevent unintentional unlocking of the smartphone when it is in your pocket, for this it uses the proximity sensor above the screen. For security purposes, you can set a password for unlocking in three ways: create a pattern, set a PIN or password. In parallel with the password, in those devices where the fingerprint sensor is installed, you can use your finger. In addition, you can configure unlocking using the MiBand bracelet, it will happen if the bracelet is in the immediate vicinity of a locked smartphone or tablet.

By default, the lock screen displays: status bar, clock, date and day of the week. Optionally, you can display information about the owner of the phone on the lock screen. If there are missed events, they are displayed as a list of cards. If you double tap on one of the cards, the user will go to the corresponding application.

With a swipe from the top edge, you can pull out the notification curtain, swipes from the left-right edges launch applications of the user's choice. By default, a swipe from the right edge is set to launch the Camera application.

Desktop and multitasking organization

V operating system application menu, and the main workspace is the desktop, they are scrolled horizontally. The desktop can contain application icons and widgets. At the bottom of the desktop is the Dock, which can hold up to 5 shortcuts or folders.

One desktop in MIUI 8 can fit up to 20 application icons and widgets arranged in a 4 * 5 grid, the number of desktops is unlimited. Icons re installed applications appear on the last desktop in a free space. Icons can be grouped into folders, a folder is created simple drag and drop one icon to another. The folder can contain an unlimited number of icons; inside the folder, scrolling is vertical.

Icons and widgets move around desktops with a simple drag and drop. The widget can be removed from the desktop by dragging it to the trash can at the top of the screen. If you try to do the same with the icon, the system will offer to remove the application from the system. The menu for managing desktop settings is called by pinching the fingers on the screen or holding the “Multitasking” button. The menu consists of four items: Sorting, Widgets, Wallpapers and Effects. When you select the first item, a screen opens where you can sort application icons in a more convenient form, move them from one table to another and create folders. The second and third paragraphs allow you to add a widget or change the wallpaper. In the last menu item: Effects - you can choose one of the animation options for scrolling tables. In addition, you can add additional tables or remove unnecessary ones.

Multitasking in MIUI 8 has the same principles as in “bare” Android, and is not additionally regulated in any way. True, the system has a function to block background activity of applications with two profiles: Off. - the system does not interfere with the background activity of applications; Incl. - the system, if possible, completely blocks the background activity of applications. It is possible to add individual applications to exclusions or select one of four control options for them: MIUIBattery Saver - the system will manage the background activity of the application at its discretion; No restrictions - has two sub-options, either the system will not interfere with the background activity of the application at all or will partially restrict access to geolocation services; Restrict background apps - the application will not be closed, but some background activity will be prohibited; Restrict background activity - the application will be unloaded from memory.

The multitasking button calls up the corresponding menu screen, at the bottom of which are displayed: the amount of free random access memory, just above the Clear memory button. Above all of this, a list of running applications is displayed, it scrolls horizontally and can be presented in the form of icons or thumbnails, up to 4 icons or up to 3 thumbnails are visible at the same time. Swiping the icon from bottom to top closes the application, swiping from top to bottom calls two buttons, one of them sends to the settings window of this application, the second - blocks the application so that it does not unload when Clearing memory. Locking is very useful when you want to save the state of an application but need to clear up RAM.

Controls, keyboard

Smartphone control in MIUI 8 implies the presence of a power button, volume control buttons and three control buttons: Multitasking, Home and Back. For certain actions, swipes, long tapes and context menus are actively used. The built-in search in MIUI 8 is called not by holding the Home button, but by swiping from bottom to top anywhere on the desktop, obviously the idea was spied on in iOS7 +. For the international version of the firmware, the search is called by holding the Home button.

As in stock Android, MIUI has a notification curtain, which is combined with the toggle bar. On the desktop, the shutter can be pulled out with a swipe from top to bottom in any part of the screen, which is convenient, in applications, traditionally, by swiping down from the top edge of the screen. There are two modes of displaying information in the curtain, the default is Combined mode, when all switches are displayed in one scrolling row, and notifications are presented in the list below. Split mode has two screens: one screen with a list of missed events / notifications and a shortcut for notification settings; the second screen contains: 20 switches, a backlight slider and a Settings app shortcut. In both modes, the search bar, the current day of the week and the date are displayed at the top.

The native keyboard in MIUI 8, as I understand it, is missing for widespread use. Instead, two third-party keyboards Sogou Keyboard for MIUI and Baidu IME for MIUI are preinstalled in the system, in global version firmware added keyboard from Google. In some situations, for example, when entering a password on the lock screen, a completely different keyboard appears, which looks more like a native one. The dial pad is comfortable, the buttons are large, there is a smart-dial.

About phone- information about the Android version, MIUI version, hardware is shown here. There is a system update button.

Basic applications

Appendix Phone / Phone, on the one hand, ascetic, on the other hand, it has all the necessary functions. The main screen is divided into three tabs (for the international version, only two tabs): Recents / Calls - last activity, Contacts / Contacts and Yellow pages / Directory. The Calls tab displays a list of calls with filtering capabilities and a dialer. The dialer has a smart-dial, it works only with the Latin alphabet and numbers. Contacts from top to bottom display: contact groups, favorites and the contacts themselves; this tab has its own icon on the desktop. By default, contact photos are not displayed, but this can be enabled in the settings.

Application screen Messaging / Messages displays a list of dialogs and a search string. The interface of the dialog box is simple: in the upper right corner there are two buttons: call a contact and a contact card. Above the keyboard are located: the field for typing the current message, the button for sending a message and the + button, the latter allows you to add to the message: message template, emoticon, contact, picture, video, etc. A long tap on the message is called context menu, through which you can delete the message, forward, copy the text of the message, view detailed information by it or send to favorites.

Appendix Mail / Mail can work with various mail delivery protocols, including IMAP. I liked the system of swiping in the mail list. Swiping from left to right marks cyclically changes the mark of being read (read / unread), swiping from right to left brings up two buttons: delete and add to favorites.

Browser its interface resembles the Chinese UC Browser. The start screen contains selected sites, the second screen contains a list of popular services divided into categories. Search bar combined with address bar, there is a built-in QRcode-reader for quickly entering the site address. In general, the interface seemed to me convenient and thoughtful, and in my opinion it is more pleasant than Chrome's.

Appendix Clock includes: alarm clock, world clock, stopwatch and timer. The alarm can be set to sound even if the device is turned off.

Camera- the main screen of the Photo mode contains 8 buttons: flash control, HDR mode control, filters, a button that calls up the shooting mode selection screen, a button for switching to the front camera, a gallery, a shutter button and switching to Video shooting. Focus is set automatically or by tap. In the second case, pressing the focus area again takes a photograph; by sliding up and down to the right of the focus indicator, you can adjust the exposure. We got rid of swipes in the updated interface completely. Absolutely in all devices of the manufacturer there is a mode of manual control of the parameters of photography, but in budget smartphones only white balance and ISO can be adjusted in it. For video shooting, there are two additional modes: fast motion (time lapse) and slow motion.

Calendar / Calendar- there are three types of presentation: Month, Week and Day. You can add events and reminders to them.

In the application Gallery / Gallery there are two tabs: Photos / All - analogue of photographic film in iOS, absolutely all photos taken with the phone camera are collected here; and Albums / Albums where everything else has been moved. The app can automatically sync all photos and videos to the cloud and detect faces in the photo. The system added Photo Editor and Video Editor, which have all the necessary tools for basic editing.

Music / Music- simple music player... There is online music, apparently it's free.

Mi Video / Mi Video- a video player by analogy with the Music application combined with online video.

Appendix Calculator pumped over, now, in addition to the simple and engineering modes, there are several conversion modes, including for currencies.

One of the advantages of MIUI is that it is preinstalled with a fairly functional file manager Explorer... The main screen of the application contains three tabs: the Recent tab displays a list of recently open files; the Categories tab displays 6 categories of files and 5 places where these files can be located. In the Storage tab, you can view all files in a folder hierarchy. In all three tabs at the bottom there are two buttons: Mi Drop is a tool for transferring files to other devices with MIUI and Clean up / Cleaning - a shortcut to the utility of the same name.

Very often, novice users who have bought smartphones from a Chinese manufacturer have difficulty finding various functions that would make life much easier. The article is devoted to how to transfer contacts to Xiaomi taking into account all possible ways implementation of this task.

Working with the device and sim card

The most common way to export / import contacts is to move them between the phone and the inserted SIM cards. Everything is implemented quite simply, but first you need to launch the contact management menu. You can quote experienced users: "To launch any hidden menu, you need to hold down the function button touch pad under the device display ". Brand Xiaomi desired button marked with three horizontal lines.

After starting the desired menu, proceed as follows:

  1. You need to open the "Import and Export" section.

  1. The "Import" block allows you to move contacts from the SIM card or your device to google accounts and Mi.

The drive import option assumes that the device contains previously exported data in .vcf format, which is called a vCard. After pressing this button, confirming the import, the user activates the process of searching for vCard data in the smartphone.

If the data is imported from a SIM card, then after selecting the account where the transfer will be carried out, you will need to select one or several records. To mark several records at once, you should not just click any of them, but hold down until the cells intended for setting marks appear.

  1. The "Export" block allows you to create the same vCard by placing it in the phone, and if you transfer contacts to SIM card, then when pressed, the device will immediately notify about the number of records that can be moved.

Also, through the "Import and Export" menu, you can send contacts from SIM (devices) through various system and installed programs: SMS, Bluetooth, Email, as well as Skype, WebMoney Keeper or official applications of various social networks.

The last item "Import to Mi Account" allows you to transfer between Mi and Google accounts.

Transfer between devices

In earlier versions of the firmware on Xiaomi Redmi and other devices of the Chinese manufacturer had the function of transferring data between different devices via bluetooth. Now it is absent due to uselessness, according to the manufacturer, so there is nothing left to do but transfer data through a downloadable application. For example, you can use the Xperia ™ Transfer Mobile application, which is designed for mobile devices Sony Xperia but also works with other smartphones (iOS, Android, Windows Phone).

You can also import the content you want from Xiaomi Redmi 3 or other models. In addition to contact information, you can transfer a variety of media files, personal information, applications, and configurations. The transfer is realized by means of cable or wireless connection Wi-Fi Direct ™, in other words, directly from a device to another device.

Using QR code

The third of the described methods is not simple, since it involves the formation of a special QR code using a special application. Then the download of contacts is carried out by scanning this code with the device, where you need to add encrypted data. This procedure can be implemented using the QR Droid Code Scanner application, which can be easily downloaded from Google Play.

You can transfer absolutely any data from Xiaomi Mi4 and other devices on the Android platform. In the case of transferring contacts, it will be enough to enter the "Import and Export" menu described above, and then select the "Send" function. Then you should select "Send contact as ..." and perform encryption in the XQR code using the simplest intuitive scheme.

Working with cloud technologies

Advantage this method obvious, but why it is used less often is difficult to explain. Perhaps this is due to distrust of Internet services, where the risk of identity theft is higher. Let's take a look at Xiaomi as an example. Redmi note 3 Pro. Information on how to copy contacts from SIM to one of the accounts was discussed above. Further, the user's task is only to download data to a new device. Mass synchronization of all available gadgets with Google or Mi accounts allows you to distribute one card with information between all connected phones, tablets, computers. Naturally, it is worth remembering that the platform plays an important role in synchronization: it is impossible to use MIUI resources with iOS and vice versa.

Also, standard services can be replaced with popular cloud resources: Yandex. Disk, DropBox. They work with them in the same way: first, the data is sent to the account, and then downloaded through the desired device.

Problems displaying contacts

Again, it is worth talking about the nuances of displaying data on Xiaomi devices, since incorrect actions by a newbie user can lead to the fact that certain contacts will simply no longer be displayed in the list. So, after the "Settings" menu has been turned on (described earlier), you need to enter the "Display" section.

The menu contains a number of different ways sorting, display configuration and smart grouping function. For example, if you sort by first or last name, they will be displayed in alphabetical order. If contacts are not displayed in the list, but the user is sure that certain entries were there previously, then you need to check if the sliders are disabled: "Only with a phone number", "SIM card contacts".

Outcome

So, transferring contacts within the same Xiaomi device or to other gadgets is quite simple. Following the recommendations presented above, you can easily customize the display of contacts, as well as export or import them. It is enough to carefully study all the information and choose the most optimal method.

Detailed review of the changes in MIUI 8 for Redmi Note 3 (Qualcomm).

Font

MIUI 8 now has a new font called "Mi Lanting". You might say, “What's wrong with that? What's new? " But after a few days of use, you yourself will notice that this minor change is crucial. The new font makes optimal use of space for headings and status lines, while looking sleeker and more elegant. Compared to the MIUI 7 font, “Mi Lanting” looks amazing!

Design

In the settings of the MIUI 8 pages, the number of points has been reduced by 8 positions. At the same time, all the options that were in MIUI 7 remained in place, with the exception of "Alerts". Although you can customize them using the "Melody" page. In one section "Wallpaper" now merged "Home screen" and "Lock screen", and to quickly make a backup copy of the theme, added a shortcut button.

Changed display when selecting a theme. Now you can quickly delete a theme using the key in the upper right corner, instead of scrolling down the page to select the "Delete" option.

Interface

The calling interface has also changed. MIUI 8 now uses a round icon to display a contact photo, unlike MIUI 7, where it took up half a page. You can turn on the loudspeaker using the text button in the lower left corner, so that you can quickly take the necessary notes during a call. When the speaker mode is selected, the background changes to a lighter one and vice versa. Among other things, the developers have improved the animation effects when accepting and ending a conversation.

The clock of the head-up screen got a new look, now the minutes and hours are on a par. And the height of the watch itself has decreased. The toggle icons on the Lock Screen have a modified appearance. Also, less space is now taken up by the Google search bar. It is thanks to these changes that the desktop has become even more convenient and more free space.

Contacts

The contact book in MIUI 8 looks much cleaner and more organized than in MIUI 7.

Market

The app market has changed too. Now you can install new fonts, change wallpapers, download music with one touch - just swipe left or right. When switching titles, the top panel also changes color.

Camera

Calculator

The MIUI 8 calculator has changed dramatically for the better. Finally added% that was missing in MIUI 7! The display itself for calculations has become an order of magnitude larger, and there are more possibilities for calculations, which can be opened in the upper right corner.

In addition to the standard calculator, there are also special ones, including a currency converter, credit calculator, tax calculator, scientific calculator, so you can cope with any mathematical operations. Especially relevant is a currency converter, the dollar exchange rate can be found at any time you need it.

Notes

I think everyone knows about a similar function on Apple or Samsung smartphones.

Something like the Windows system on your computer. The second space can contain completely different applications and elements that you customize. To switch between spaces, just select a user and enter a password when the screen is locked.

App cloning is also one of the new features that has already been mentioned, and now about it in detail. With MIUI 8, you can now create another copy of applications, for example, to use two accounts on social networks and not switch between accounts. The clone button is located in the lower left corner and is indicated by a yellow icon. So with cloning, you can stay in your personal Facebook account and keep working at the same time.

At the moment it can translate up to 7 languages, including English, Chinese, Japanese, French, Spanish, German and Korean.

And here are a few features that were simply removed in MIUI 8.

These include save data and battery profile. It is now impossible to have multiple battery profiles and switch between them. This feature was hidden in the battery settings in the upper right corner.

The Battery Economy option in MIUI 8 has been greatly simplified. However, we have a new battery analysis feature available in the battery menu. To use it, just click the Analyze Battery Usage button and view a detailed battery status report.
