The most common is the simultaneous pressing of one - or two at once - of the volume control buttons and the Power key. The most popular companies use the following combinations:

  • "LG" - "Power on" + "Volume up"; after the logo appears, release and press this combination again;
  • HTC, Nexus, Xiaomi– "Power on" + "Volume down";
  • Lenovo and Motorola - both buttons responsible for volume + "Power on".

After loading Recovery mode, the user will see system lines with different names. Select the line "wipe_data / factory_reset" and confirm the selected action. The phone will perform an operation to reset new and restore old settings for a while. Upon its completion, the owner of the gadget will only have to click the line "Reboot_System_Now". The phone will first turn off and then reboot with the restored android system.

The phone must be switched on. To return to the factory settings of the android device, go to the general settings section. There we find the item "Restore and reset", where we select the action "Reset settings". After that, the system will warn the user about the deletion of data and ask to confirm the operation. After completing the procedure, the phone will reboot and start the operating system with the old settings.

The owner of the phone must go to the dialing menu and enter a code combination consisting of numbers and symbols. Manufacturers program their products differently, plus the codes change over time. Therefore, for each specific model, especially the uncommon one, it is better to check the code on the Internet.

However, there are some of the more popular combinations:

  • *#*#7780#*#
  • *2767*3855#
  • *#*#7378423#*#*

After the introduction of one of them, the system will return the phone to its original programmed state.

How not to lose data when factory resetting Android

Recovery standard settings associated with the loss of all data stored on the phone. All programs, documents, video and audio files, pictures, passwords and contacts are deleted by the system.

  1. Transfer data to micro SD drive. If an external storage was purchased when purchasing the phone, all the necessary information can be copied to it using file manager... If you do not have a card, you can purchase it just before you return the factory settings to your Android smartphone.
  2. You can save your phone data by uploading it to the Google Drive app. In fact, this program is an analogue of "cloud" storage. The user can download and store 5 GB of various information, and if he pays extra, this volume can be increased up to 1 TB. The application is installed from the market " Google play».

A little tip: in addition to saving data on a micro card, copy all important information to your computer. In this case, even if something happens to external storage, the necessary information will remain with you.

If the user of the Android device has forgotten the password that unlocks it, and no recovery methods have worked, they will have to resort to a factory reset. This can be done, firstly, using the Recovery menu (the method is described at the beginning of the article).

Or here's another way to restore factory settings on an android gadget. So, the phone is on, but locked. When the system prompts you for a password, ask someone to call your number. During a call, the user has the opportunity to access the settings menu. Without accepting a call, you need to go to this section and select "Reset all data". We confirm the operation. After restoring the original settings, the password requirement will disappear.

This phone brand is one of the most widespread, so it is worth mentioning it separately. In particular, for Samsug gadgets, to exit to Recovery, press (simultaneously): "Power on", "Home" and the volume key "+". The combination must be held until the menu appears.

If the reset is made through the settings menu, select the "General settings" section and go to the "Reset" item (it can also be called "Privacy", "Archive and reset"). At this point, select the action "Reset data" (or "Reset device"). After confirmation, the phone will return the system to its original form.

How to reset google account settings on android

Typically, resetting the settings leads to the need to re-enter the password for the Google account. Don't remember this data? There are several ways to solve the problem. The simplest is as follows.

After resetting the settings on your android phone, turn it on. We connect to the Internet. When filling out a Google account in the field of your Email we write and select any several letters. A menu will appear above them, offering a choice of one of the actions: select, copy or send. We select "Send". We indicate "SMS / MMS" as the program that will do all this. In the addressee's line we indicate "112", and in the message we enter a few letters of any kind. After sending, the system will send an SMS stating that our letter has not been delivered. This is what is required. You should go to this sms-message and press the "Call" button located next to the recipient's number. This action should take the user to the contacts and dialing menu, where you need to erase "112" and dial the code: "* # * # 4636 # * # *". The system will display a menu of several items. We choose the second one (something related to statistics). This will take the user to the settings menu, where in the "Reset and Restore" item will appear new function- data reset with deletion of the Google account.

Android factory reset apps

The above methods on how to reset android phone to factory settings didn't work? You can try downloading one of the specialized applications. These programs independently roll back the system to its original state. Examples include:

  1. "Simple Factory Phone Reset"- at startup, it opens a screen with a white background with a large "Start" button in the middle, which starts the process of "rolling back" the settings. Able to remove "buggy" programs separately, without touching the system data;
  2. "Phone Hard Reset"- after launching it displays a menu with two windows. One of them offers to read the instructions, and the second - resets the settings;
  3. "Phone Factory Reset"- makes a complete rollback and reboot of the system. In the main menu of the program, you need to click "Full Factory Reset".

If a malfunction prevents the phone from booting, you can restore the factory settings by applying the recovery mode. This can usually be done by holding down the power and volume up buttons at the same time. The exact sequence of actions depends on the specific device.

If the smartphone freezes or simply stops responding to commands, a reboot will save you, which is enough to solve most problems, although sometimes you have to perform a factory reset. After reading this article, you will learn how to perform both procedures.

How to restart Android

It happens that the smartphone freezes for no obvious reason - annoying, of course, but usually it does not entail big problems, and the situation is solved very simply: the phone is restarted.

To reboot a frozen phone, simply press and hold the power button for 30 seconds... Agree that this is a fairly simple procedure. However, it may turn out that the roots of the problem go deeper. In this case, it is necessary to resort to a more radical measure - restoring the factory settings, after which the following will be deleted:

  • Contacts,
  • Messages in Whastapp,
  • Installed applications,
  • Media (music, photo and video),
  • System and application settings.

How to restore factory settings

So the reboot didn't help. It is worth trying to roll back the parameters to the factory settings. It sounds complicated, but in reality it is elementary. The fastest and safe way- do it through the "Settings" menu. If it is not available, the reset is done using recovery mode. Let's talk in more detail about both methods.

Attention! The last procedure will result in the deletion of all data. Before taking any action, copy personal information(contact list, images, videos, documents) to third-party data storage, cloud is better. If necessary, use a USB cable to connect to a computer.

Reset via the "Settings" menu

Attention! This procedure will delete all personal files (such as photos and messages). Make sure all important data has been backed up.

The exact sequence of steps may vary depending on the device model, but in general terms, the following should be done.

In the "Settings" menu, find the "Restore and reset" item, select "Reset phone settings" and enter the password if it was set earlier. You will be prompted to erase all data. Confirm this action and wait for the process to complete, after which you can use the backup storage to restore the previously saved information.

The whole procedure will take no more than a few minutes.

Reset with buttons through recovery mode

If the phone is frozen, touch screen does not work and it seems that you cannot get to the settings menu, do not lose hope. There is a solution: Android can be put into recovery mode using the buttons on the case.

Below is a list of commands that work on devices of some popular brands. If you don't see your phone brand in the list, just search Google for “master reset” and the device name. It's best to press the power button after holding down the other buttons.

  • Samsung: Volume Up, Home Button, Power.
  • Google Nexus / Pixel: Volume Down, Power.
  • HTC: volume down, power. On some HTC models, you need to hold down the volume down after you release the power.
  • Motorola Moto Z / Droid: volume down, power. On most Motorola devices, you need to hold down the volume down button and press (once) on the power.
  • LG: volume down, power. When the LG logo appears, release the power and immediately press again. Hold the volume down button.
  • Sony Xperia: volume down, power.
  • Asus Transformer: volume down, power supply.

Don't be surprised that it is so difficult to get into recovery mode. This is not to confuse you. Manufacturers just want to prevent accidentally putting the smartphone into recovery mode, because in that case it would be very easy to erase all data from the device without wanting to.

So, first, turn off your phone. After that press and hold the volume down button, then press the power button until it turns on again. The message "Start" should appear on the screen.

Once in recovery mode, use the volume buttons to select the command you want... It usually contains the words "wipe" or "delete". Sometimes - "perform factory reset". The exact wording depends on the manufacturer. To select a command, the on / off button is most often used as an analogue of the computer "Enter".

Now hold down the volume down button until "Recovery mode" appears.

After that, press the power button to get into recovery mode. You will see the Android logo. When the phone is put into recovery mode, press the power button and once to increase the volume. Then release the power button.

Now press the volume down button until the menu appears on the screen.

The options available may vary depending on the product model, but there are certain standards that are always there.

  • reboot system now - will reboot the device normally.
  • apply update from ADB - allows you to connect your phone to a computer via a USB cable and send commands to it with using Android SDK.
  • wipe data / factory rest - will delete all data and return the phone to factory state.
  • wipe cache partion - clears the cache partition. This is temporary system data related to the installation of applications, and you can delete it without losing any personal data. This can solve many problems.

Note: Starting with Android 7.1, Google has removed the last item. You can do the same by going to Settings → Storage and selecting Cached Data.

As you might guess, in this case you need to select the "Wipe data / Factory reset" item.

The system will ask if you really want to delete all data - select "Yes" using the volume buttons.

Now you need to select the "Reboot system now" item.

Android will then start factory reset. When everything is over and the system boots up, use the backup storage to restore data.

Factory reset protection

On each device under Android Lollipop 5.0 or later, Factory Reset Protection (FRP) is enabled by default. This means that you will be required to enter a username and password from your account Google, even after hard reset. If you do not have this data, the phone will remain locked and you will not be able to access it.

This is done in order to reduce theft, as even a factory reset via the recovery menu will prevent a thief from accessing your data. It's also worth remembering that if you plan to delete all data from your phone before selling it to avoid FRP protection, be sure to go to Settings → Accounts and delete your Google account before performing a reset. If there is more than one account registered, make sure you delete all of them.

Data deletion illusion

When you do a factory reset, the idea is that everything should be completely deleted, but this is not entirely true. Android deletes the addresses of all your data from its memory, so it no longer knows where it is and cannot show it, but in fact it remains in flash memory. So someone might use special programs to recover deleted files to get them back. Let's see how you can avoid this.

Encrypt the data

The first option is to encrypt the data. This functionality is already built into Android and requires you to enter a PIN or password each time you unlock the screen. Anyone who tries to recover data from your phone will need a special decryption key that they don't have.

The exact path to this function may differ slightly, but it is usually found in the Settings → Security → Encrypt data menu. But on Samsung Galaxy, for example, you need to go to the following path "Settings → Lock screen and security → Encrypted data protection". There's also the option to encrypt the SD card, but if you're selling a phone, we recommend simply pulling it out instead.

If after the purchase, the phone already had Android 6.0 Marshmallow or higher installed, then it should be encrypted by default, and you can proceed to the next item. If you don't know which Android version installed, then open the menu "Settings → About device → Information about software". Keep in mind that it will only be encrypted by default if Android 6.0 Marshmallow was installed out of the box.

Overwrite with unnecessary data

If you want to be absolutely sure, you can overwrite the encrypted data with unnecessary data and then perform a factory reset. Then it will be truly impossible to recover your old data. If you want to do this, then just load various "junk" on your phone until the storage is full - a few great videos should do the trick. Then do the reset again one more time.

You can also do this using apps from Google Play Store e.g. iShredder 6. She can fill free place on the disk with various "garbage", reliably delete the application cache or individual files and folders.

In this manual, we will tell you how to reset an Android smartphone to factory settings, and also dwell on the question of how to properly prepare the gadget and save all the necessary information before accidentally deleting it.

What is an Android factory reset and why is it done?

Many of us have faced the problem of constant device freezes, firmware glitches, loss of connection, etc. To get rid of such difficulties, resetting the factory settings of the gadget to Android comes to the rescue. What does this mean? Resetting the device settings allows you to restore the factory settings of the firmware, which in the future has a positive effect on the speed of the device and the absence of additional "glitches".

What files and data should be saved before resetting the settings?

There are a huge number of ways to reset the settings on an android to factory settings, but the only thing that unites them is the total deletion of all files and data from the device's memory. Therefore, you should take care of important media files in advance and contact information, notes and other documents that you would like to keep. How to do it correctly, read on.

Correct backup of contacts and notebook on android

Let's start with the preliminary saving and transfer of contacts, "where next" from our gadget. The easiest way is to copy contacts to a SIM card. This is easy to do by following our instructions. Go to the contacts menu and select the "Import / Export" item. In the window that appears, export your contacts to any medium convenient for you: a SIM card or SD storage device.

Most reliable way, this is to rewrite your contacts in notebook, but, we have "In the yard", the era of technology and gadgets, this option is not suitable for everyone. We advise you to use an effective and efficient method for backing up contacts on Android - synchronize data with your Google account or its cloud storage. In addition to contacts, the cloud storage service offers you to synchronize SMS messages, notes and calendar entries from any Android device.

To get started, you should register in the Google service, simply create new account or log in to the old one. We will not talk about this in detail, since such simple actions do not need comments. We will tell you about the correct synchronization of the necessary information with Google servers.

Go to the phone settings, section "Accounts". We select accounts "Google". There will be several items in the window that opens.

    Security and entrance;

    Confidentiality;

    Account setup;

In the upper corner of the device screen, your account (Google account) will appear, tap on it.

After the actions taken, a window will appear offering synchronization options. We put a checkmark in front of the items we need. If you want to make a manual backup of your data to the Google server, click on the circular black arrows, as shown in the screenshot.

Congratulations! The required information and data have been uploaded to the Google server and synchronized with your account. After resetting the device, you can easily restore your notebook or smartphone notes.

We make a quick backup of photos, videos, music and documents on android.

A simple way is to connect the device via a USB cable to a computer and transfer the necessary information to it. There is a small nuance - not all phones are synchronized with a PC in the "Flash Drive" mode. At the moment of connecting the gadget to the computer, select the "Use as USB - storage" mode.

The second way to back up the necessary files is to transfer them from the device's memory to a flash card. Open the file manager.

In the manager window, select the photos that are in the phone's memory. The SD card is displayed in a different location (sdcard1).

Mark the photos that need to be transferred to the USB flash drive (pinch your finger on desired file until a check mark appears).

The "Menu" button is located in the upper right corner. If you need to select several files, click "Select All" so as not to waste time selecting each photo. In the next step, tap on the "Move" item and specify the SD card as the end point of the location of your files. To avoid confusion, you can create an additional folder by clicking (+) and save the data to it.

Do the same with video, music and documents, if these files are important to you.

The third way to save data to Andorid before resetting its settings is by using cloud storage. The algorithm of actions is no different from previous paragraph, all you need to do is download from the play market additional applications: Google Disk, Yandex Disk, etc. We advise you to use Gogle Drive, because it is automatically synchronized with your account data after resetting the settings on the gadget.

Go to Google Drive, click "+" and select "Download".

We mark the images and the folder for uploading to cloud storage... Do the described actions with the rest of the media data.

detailed instructions to reset Android settings to factory settings

The first and easiest way to reset the settings is to use the standard phone menu. the device itself will tell you what to do. To get started, you should go to the smartphone menu and find the "Settings" section. As a rule, this is the "Cogwheel".

Advice! Experienced Users they may say that on every Android device, a step-by-step reset of the settings differs in the algorithm and sequence of actions. In fact, this is not the case. "Stock" or "Standard Android" do not differ in the strategy of resetting settings and data.

We find in "Settings", the item "Restore and Reset". Select "Reset phone settings" - "Erase All".

For example, if you have Samsung Smartphone, instead of the menu item "Restore", there is "Archive and reset".

In another case, with smartphones Xiaomi, Meizu and Huawei, the algorithm is no different, but the name of the buttons has changed. Go to "Settings" - "Advanced" - "Reset settings"

After a successful completion of the reset, the gadget's performance will be at its best, and you will forever forget about glitches and slowdowns of the processor.

The second way to reset the settings is to use secret codes, which are mainly used by smartphone repairmen. But, even the simplest user can use any of them without any problems. To do this, we need to press the "Vyhova" button and when the on-screen numbers appear, we should dial the "Secret Code".

* 2767 * 3855 # -this code completely reinstalls the firmware, making your phone a new one. After the performed manipulation (1-3%) of users may say that the Android smartphone does not turn on. Yes, there is a risk of such an inevitable event, but do not give up. In this case, you should update the device firmware.

* # * # 7780 # * # * - with this code, the settings will be reset. Applications will be removed, the rest of the data will remain.

Hard Reset or hard reset Android.

The third way is the most interesting. It was created for users whose main hobby is updating firmware on an Android device. This is a factory reset via Recovery. The so-called "Hard Method" or "Factory reset". There are nuances and subtleties about which we will tell you in more detail and try to answer all questions in the comments to the article.

This "Zeroing" method, as a rule, occurs when the device screen is off, using a certain key combination.

For reference! Be sure to charge your device at least 80%.

Let's get started. Switch off the device.

Each manufacturer Android smartphone the key combination for entering the device into the "Recovery" mode is different. We advise you to familiarize yourself with possible options, which we will now tell you about. Typically, there is a basic combination: Volume down (-) button and device ON / OFF button. Hold them until the recovery appears (like the image in the photo below).

If you have a Samsung smartphone without a HOME button ("Home" button), then hold down the volume key (+) and ON / OFF the device.

Otherwise, if "Home" is present, the key combination will be as follows: simultaneously press and hold "+", "Home" and "On / Off". As soon as Samsung appears, release the pressed buttons.

For some LG models, press (-) and the ON / OFF button), but after the logo appears, release the power button and press it again.

On certain type of SONY phones, press (-), (+) and the ON / OFF button at the same time.

After our actions, the "Recovery" menu will look something like the one shown in the photo below.

Next, you should navigate the Recovery menu using the volume buttons and select the item "wipe data / factory reset" or "Clear eMMC", "Clear Flash." yes - delete all user data. "After the phone has completed the hard reset, select the" Reboot System Now "item. At this point, the" Hard Reset "process can be considered complete.

As a separate item, we have highlighted the situation that the owners of Samsung devices can get into. It happens so that the gadget does not enter the "Recovery" mode. In this case, the Jing adapter will help you. It is inserted into the socket of the charging socket and within 3 seconds enters the smartphone into Recovery mode.

Also, a program has been developed for resetting settings on an android using a computer - Android Debug Bridge (ADB). It should be installed on your computer, and on the phone, activate the ADB mode. Connect the phone to the computer (preferably through the original cable).

To reset Anrdoida from a PC, click Start - Run and type in "cmd". After starting the command line, open the program by typing adb reboot recovery in command line... After entering the smartphone into the Recovery mode, follow the instructions described above.

We restore contacts and necessary files after a complete reset.

Recovering a copy of your device is not difficult. To do this, go to the menu item "Restore and reset" - "Data copying" and "Auto recovery". The presence of a stable and high-speed Internet connection is desirable.

conclusions

In this guide, we have reviewed the most popular factory reset methods on Android smartphones. Before deleting information or making a "hard reset", try to prepare a data backup or sync your device with your Google account.

If you still have questions, ask them in the comments to this article.

After several months of active use of a mobile computer on the Android platform, various unpleasant phenomena usually begin to appear. Applications noticeably slow down when launched, sites freeze, the keyboard desperately does not want to print a letter or a number. Touches and even persistent knocks on the touchscreen do not respond.

It comes to the point that you cannot even turn off your favorite Android smartphone or tablet. What does it all mean? Who is to blame and what to do?

Why reset your preferences? Causes.

Two reasons are most likely wrong work your Android device:

  1. Infection with viruses.
  2. Severe contamination of the system.

Virus infection most often occurs when you forgot to install any of the good antivirus programs on your device.

  • Doctor Web
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus
  • Advanced mobile care

The risk of virus infection increases if the user recklessly follows the links from emails that came from nowhere, when downloading and installing applications from third-party sources, when frequently visiting suspicious sites.

The drastic littering of the Android operating system usually occurs among hyperactive users. Who just love to download all the new programs (fortunately, most are free) and research them. These are all very useful things to help you find in the endless list of the Google Play store indeed required applications... But, fact is fact, such scientific activity inevitably leads to a deterioration in the performance of a mobile computer on the Android platform.

In the end, it will become absolutely impossible to do anything on your gadget. In such a situation, one remedy remains - to reset operating system to factory settings.

Great option. In old Windows versions in case of a serious deterioration in the computer's performance, it was necessary to reinstall the system, reboot it from the distribution disk. But on Android, you don't even need any disks and external installers - the distribution kit is wired inside the system.

If this is your first time encountering a system reset problem, most likely you do not know about another very useful option Android - backup and restore.

The idea is this. After returning all Android settings to the factory state, absolutely all user data, files, documents, contacts and accounts will be deleted from your device. It's as if you just brought your tablet from the store - only the pre-installed default apps from the range of Google services and affiliates.

You will have to re-search, download and install all the applications and games necessary for work and entertainment, communication in social networks. And you already do not immediately remember even the names of all these programs. Hard and long work lies ahead.

So, Android has a useful option Reserve copy your Google Play account. All your favorite and not so much applications are registered in Google Play and you can get it all back on your device without manual search and installation.

Provided that you have set the data backup option in the settings.

  • Go to Settings.
  • Find the Recovery and reset tab. There will be a Data backup item.
  • Check the checkbox. Your data will now be saved to the Google cloud service.
  • Specify below google account for reservation.
  • Autorecovery is written even below. Check the box here as well.
  • Now your data will be restored automatically after a system reset to factory settings.

Note. To automatically restore, download and install all your applications from Google Play, when registering the device after resetting the settings, you must specify exactly your Google account, which is used to register on Google Play.

How to reset Android settings

If your Android device slows down, but you can still manage applications somehow, go to Settings and open the Restore and Reset tab.

Select Factory data reset. There will be a warning that all data will be deleted from internal memory... This is a reminder that if you have any important files or documents in your internal memory and you don’t want to lose them, you need to copy all this data to an external memory card or cloud storage. In the same Google Drive, for example. Below the “red button” Reset the mobile computer.

During the system reset process, the device must be connected to charger and plug into the electrical network. For applications to be restored, you need to leave the SIM card in the device so that the Internet works immediately after Android is restored.

The process has begun, and then everything will happen by itself. After resetting and reinstalling the system, you will be prompted to log in to Google services... Take a piece of paper with the email address and password of the same account that you have registered with Google Play and log in.
