Traffic light with two red ones. Traffic signals. Traffic Laws. Traffic lights with additional section

Good afternoon, dear reader.

In the next article in the series "Rules for the passage of intersections" we will talk about the traffic rules governing crossing intersections with traffic lights in 2020.

Unfortunately, there are many drivers who only remember that at intersections you can go to the green and yellow traffic lights, and they prefer to ignore the rest of the rules for intersections. This attitude often leads to serious accidents.

In this article, we will talk about the correct passage of intersections regulated by traffic lights:

Let me remind you that in the previous article we were talking about. If you have not read the previous articles in the series, then I recommend starting the study exactly.

Also, do not forget that when approaching the intersection, you should take the correct one, corresponding to the required direction, and also decide on which this time turned out to be regulated traffic lights.

Traffic signals

Traffic rules provide for the following options and combinations of traffic light colors (paragraph 6.2):

  1. Red;
  2. red and yellow;
  3. yellow;
  4. yellow flashing;
  5. green;
  6. green arrow and red;
  7. flashing green.

1. Red

The red color of the traffic light tells the driver that traffic through the intersection forbidden... For violation of the requirement, the driver can receive.

Note. The only exception is the situation when the arrow in the additional section of the traffic light is turned on simultaneously with the red signal. It will be discussed below.

2. Red and yellow colors

The meaning of the traffic light is exactly the same as that of red, i.e. you can't go.

The combination of red and yellow colors is auxiliary and indicates that after a few seconds the green traffic light will turn on. This combination is used only in some regions of Russia.

3. Yellow traffic light

Solid yellow signal also prohibits movement... He tells the driver that after a few seconds the signal will change to red.

However, there is an exception that allows you to pass a yellow traffic light:

6.14. Drivers who cannot stop when the yellow signal is turned on or the traffic controller lifts their arms up, without resorting to emergency braking in the places specified in clause 6.13 of the Rules, further movement is allowed.

Those. if the car does not have time to stop when the yellow signal is turned on, then it can drive through the intersection. Otherwise, a penalty may be imposed on the yellow light while driving.

Be careful, this exception does not apply to a red traffic light.

4. What does the flashing yellow traffic light mean?

A yellow flashing light tells the driver that there is an unregulated intersection in front of him:

In this case, the yellow flashing itself does not prohibit movement, but does not give any advantage. Priority signs should be followed.

5. Green

Green traffic light allows traffic through the intersection.

6. Green arrow and red

If the green arrow is turned on in the additional section of the traffic light, and a red or yellow signal is lit in the main section, then this indicates the following:

  1. The driver can drive in the direction indicated by the arrow. If the arrow points to the left, then you can also turn around.
  2. Should make way vehicles moving from other directions.

7. What does the flashing green traffic light mean?

Flashing green allows movement and tells the driver that in the near future there will be a prohibition signal (red or yellow with red).

At many Russian intersections, the green signal flashes exactly 3 times with an interval of about 1 second. And most drivers are used to it. However, at some intersections, the blinking interval may be reduced, i.e. green flashes faster. Be prepared that sooner or later you will come across such an intersection.

How to get through the regulated intersection?

When driving through intersections with traffic lights, first of all, you should determine which of the traffic signals corresponds to the right direction.

If the traffic light is standard and consists of only three parts (red, yellow and green), then no problems arise. In this case, the signals propagate simultaneously to all directions.

If the traffic light has additional green sections then the situation gets a little more complicated. The driver must determine the section that extends to the desired direction.

Typically, the section anchored to the left contains an arrow to the left, and the section to the right contains an arrow to the right. However, you can find other options as well.

For example, in Russia there are intersections at which an additional section regulates traffic straight ahead, and the main one - to the left.

How to determine if there is an additional section?

At night, on unlit sections of roads, the presence of additional sections can be determined, guided by paragraph 6.4:

6.4. If the main green traffic light is marked with black outline arrow (arrows), then it informs drivers about the presence of an additional section of the traffic light and indicates other permitted directions of movement than the signal of the additional section.

Thus, if at night on the road you see that the green traffic light is not round, but is made in the form of an arrow or has a drawn black outline arrow, then this indicates the presence of additional sections that are currently turned off (not lit).

What traffic signals can I go to?

Consider the various directions of movement and the corresponding traffic signals:

Turn left or U-turn

You can make a left turn or U-turn in one of the following cases:

  • Green main signal at traffic lights without additional section to the left.
  • An additional section to the left included in conjunction with the main green.
  • An additional section to the left included in conjunction with the inhibiting signal.

1. When making a U-turn or turning left at the signal of the main (round) section of the traffic light, the requirements of paragraph 13.4 should be taken into account:

13.4. When turning left or making a U-turn at a green traffic light, the driver of a trackless vehicle must give way to vehicles moving from the opposite direction straight and to the right... Tram drivers should be guided by the same rule.

In this case, you need to skip cars that:

  • go towards and at the same time turn right (orange);
  • driving straight from the opposite direction (blue).

Cars that turn left do not need to be allowed through, although without this it will not be possible to part at some intersections.

2. When turning on the signal of the additional section (with an arrow), which is turned on simultaneously with the green signal in the main section, the rules of passage are exactly the same. You need to skip cars that drive from the opposite direction straight and to the right.

3. When turning or turning at the signal of the additional section (with an arrow), which is turned on simultaneously with the red or yellow signal in the main section, you should be guided by paragraph 13.5:

13.5. .

In this case, you need to give way to vehicles moving from absolutely all directions.

Straight ahead

1. When driving through an intersection at the signal of the main (round) section of the traffic light, you do not need to give way to other cars.

2. When driving on a signal from an additional section (with an arrow), which allows driving straight ahead, you need to give way to vehicles from other directions.

Note. Intersections with an additional section "straight ahead" are quite rare on the roads, but readers of the site still met them. If suddenly they met you, then describe the situation in the comments.

Right turn

1. When turning right on the main green signal or along the arrow of the additional section, together with the main green one, you can feel very comfortable, because no need to miss anyone.

2. When driving to the right at the signal of the additional section, which is turned on simultaneously with the red or yellow signal in the main section, you should be guided by paragraph 13.5 and let vehicles moving from all directions (blue and orange) pass, and only then continue driving:

13.5. When driving in the direction of the arrow included in the additional section simultaneously with the yellow or red traffic light, the driver must give way to vehicles moving from other directions.

What should you do when you turn on the green traffic light?

In life, you can meet drivers who believe that when you turn on the green one, you should press the gas pedal all the way and be the first to start from the traffic light.

However, clause 13.8 of the SDA proposes to act differently:

13.8. When the traffic light is enabled, the driver must give way to vehicles ending traffic through the intersection, and pedestrians who have not finished crossing the carriageway of this direction.

When the enable signal is turned on, you need to give way to cars that are already at the intersection, and only then start moving.

This completes the consideration of regulated intersections and in the next article we will talk about unregulated intersections:

Well, if you still have questions, feel free to write them in the comments.

Good luck on the road!

If you think that from the point of view of the Russian language, the item is drawn up incorrectly, then write an appeal to the traffic police about this. Offer them a different spelling that everyone will perceive the same way.

Good luck on the road!

Mikhail-197

Hello! Tell me with an indication of the traffic rules: if the main traffic signal is red and the arrow in the additional section to the right (left) is green, is it allowed to turn only from the extreme right (left) lane or from all lanes that are allowed to move to the right (left) by signs and markings? Thanks.

Michael, Hello.

If signs and / or markings allow turning from several lanes, then under the green arrow you can turn from any of the indicated lanes.

If there was a ban, then there would also be a point in the traffic rules. However, since there is no prohibition, there is no clause in the rules.

Good luck on the road!

Sergey-700

I pass the intersection along the green arrow to the right, while the general red is on, then I get a fine from the camera for not stopping in front of the stop line with a prohibitive traffic light. 30 years behind the wheel, never heard that in this case it is necessary to stop at the stop line, and then continue moving in the direction of the arrow!

Constantine-108

I can drive into the leftmost lane at once on the permissive main green only to the right (two lanes, not separated by markings)

When turning right, the vehicle must move as close as possible to the right edge of the carriageway.

That is, if the right lane is free, then after turning you should be in the right lane. After that, you can change to the left lane.

Good luck on the road!

Victor-154

Good afternoon. A question about the situation at a regulated traffic light with an additional section of an intersection. A street with two lanes (one into one, the other into the other). before the T-junction, there is an extension of the right-turn lane with an arrow. Is it possible for a car at speed, seeing that there is a straight green light, but there are cars on the lane, go around them on the right along the lane to the right turn of the intended one and go straight through the intersection ???

Good day! I am in a very difficult state. Is it possible in court to prove your case in the following situation that happened to me. I drove within the city and drove up to a traffic light with a permitted speed of 60 km / h at a red traffic light. My lane (middle) was empty. When approaching a traffic light, a traffic light permitting signal (green) lights up, and without stopping, I continue to move straight. But at the crossroads there was a car, which I did not notice, because on my left there was a column of T.S. which was waiting for the green light to turn on, turned left onto a secondary road and did not let me through. I made a collision. At the trial, the investigator accused me and issued a fine due to non-compliance with clause 13.8 of the SDA. But the peculiarity of the traffic light regulation of this intersection is such that the traffic light (T1) of the usual design (without an additional arrow to the left) on the opposite side of the road, the permitting signal (green) lights up 20 seconds earlier. And it turns out that the road users who enter the intersection do not have the information before when the traffic signal will turn on from the opposite side. Since there is no duplicate traffic light and there is no sign "6.16 STOP LINE and, accordingly, markings 1.12. I think that at this intersection, according to Gost, there should be a traffic light T1l + a duplicate traffic light and markings 1.12 with sign 6.16. Provided that the roadway on this section of the road has three lanes in each direction. I am sure that at least both participants of the road accident are guilty here. Do I have a chance in court to challenge the decision of the investigator? (the cars were very seriously damaged), it's good that we ourselves miraculously did not suffer.

I am grateful for your feedback.

Victor, Hello.

If at the intersection there are no signs and (or) markings regulating the direction of movement along the lanes, then you can drive straight along any lane.

Good luck on the road!

Farhat, Hello.

Indicate which traffic light signals were on at the oncoming car in the previous cycle (when you still had a red one) and which signal was on when your green one turned on.

Maxim, good afternoon!

He drove to the intersection at a permitting traffic light for 20 seconds. earlier than me, but at the same time the traffic light allowing it remains on until the end of the traffic light cycle. When my traffic light turned green, the green one on his main one continued to be lit. The question is, why should I give in to him? At the same time, I also had emergency braking. No video is clearly visible when the green signal lights up for me, it starts to cross the dividing strip.

For the earlier grateful!

Is it possible for a car at speed, seeing that there is a direct green light, but there are cars on the lane, go around them on the right along the lane to the right turn of the intended one and go straight through the intersection ???

Maybe anyway. If, when bypassing those standing on the green - does not violate the requirements of signs, markings - then the Rules when bypassing - will not break.

Farhat it looks like you have already read clause 13.8 of the SDA. It says - green lit up - let in everyone who is already at the crossroads. There is, of course, clause 13.4 of the SDA. You can appeal the decision of the inquiry officer. Moreover, maybe you did not have the opportunity to see the turning and prevent a collision:

p 10.1 SDA - If there is a traffic hazard that the driver able to detect, he must take possible measures to reduce the speed until the vehicle stops.

Farhat, in this case, the driver of another car violated the requirements of clause 13.4 of the SDA:

13.4. When turning left or making a U-turn at a green traffic light, the driver of a trackless vehicle must give way to vehicles moving from the opposite direction straight or to the right. Tram drivers should be guided by the same rule.

In this case, it makes sense to try to challenge the decision.

Good luck on the road!

Nikolay-215

Crossroads, green light is on, there is a separate section to the left, it is off, can I turn if there is no obstacle or need to wait? And how much is a fine for this.

p 6.3 SDA: Signal off additional section or the included red light signal of its outline means the prohibition of movement in the direction regulated by this section.

Fine - Code of Administrative Offenses Article 12.12.

When turning left, you need to give way to oncoming people regardless of which traffic signal they are going straight to.

That's all right. However, it is no less true - when the permitting signal of the traffic light is turned on, give way to vehicles that complete the movement through the intersection, because it is this traffic violation that is imputed to Fairhat.

Hello! The configuration of the intersection is as follows - the intersection of the street with the highway (main road + backup). At the traffic light, an arrow to the right with red lights up. Can I turn right onto the main highway (i.e. go straight through the first intersection of the p.ch.), or can I only turn right onto the alternate? Alas, it is impossible to wait for the main green without disturbing others.

Hello! One intersection can have several directions to the right. The traffic light determines the order of movement in the intended direction and acts on the whole intersection. An exception is clause 13.7 of the SDA. Therefore, under the arrow, you are allowed to move in any direction to the right.

Unfortunately, in the exam tickets (questions 23-6 and 37-6) the "correct" answers do not correspond to the provisions of the traffic rules.

Constantine-115

Kind time of the day, I had the following question: who should give in to whom in this case:

"A" Turn left from the main to the secondary

"В" Exit from the secondary to the main one and turn left under sign 2.4

Constantine-115, Hello. There are no main or minor roads at regulated intersections. There is a permitting or prohibiting traffic light signal (traffic controller).

Vitaly-144

Good afternoon.

When turning right, following the additional green section, should I give way to a vehicle that approaches an intersection on my right and turns around at the main green signal?

Vitaly, Hello.

Yes, they should. You must give way to a vehicle coming from any other direction. :

13.5. When driving in the direction of the arrow included in the additional section simultaneously with the yellow or red traffic light, the driver must give way to vehicles moving from other directions.

Good luck on the road!

Good afternoon.

There is an intersection where 2 separate traffic lights are installed for turning right and driving straight ahead, both with corresponding arrows. They work in such a way that when the red light is on at the traffic light to go straight, at the second traffic light with arrows to the right the green light is on and you can turn right. At the same time, cars turn left from the opposite direction. At turning left, a traffic light with an additional. section, but this is not so important, since I can't see if their main signal is on and, in principle, I would like to understand the situation with two separate traffic lights with arrows, as it is regulated.

Please tell me how to correctly pass the intersection in my case? Does a separate traffic light with arrows to the right count as an "extra section", is it necessary for me to skip cars on the left? Or consider that my main "green" is on and I turn right along the main green?

Crossroads images in attachment.

Hello.

Clause 6.3 of the SDA:

6.3. Traffic signals in the form of arrows in red, yellow and green have the same meaning as the round signals of the corresponding color, but their effect only applies to the direction (s) indicated by the arrows. In this case, the arrow, allowing a left turn, also allows a U-turn, if this is not prohibited by the corresponding road sign.

The green arrow in the additional section has the same meaning. The switched off signal of the additional section or the switched on light signal of the red color of its outline means the prohibition of movement in the direction regulated by this section.

In short:

There are 2 types of traffic lights (with arrow signals and with additional sections). The rules are different for them.

You need to give way only in case of a traffic light with an additional section.

In your example, another traffic light - with signals in the form of arrows. It does not oblige to give way to vehicles from other directions.

Good luck on the road!

Sergey-862

Passage of a regulated intersection: turn left, I stand at the intersection, I look at the traffic light in front of the left, it turns yellow then red do I have the right to start moving - turn left?

Sergey-862,

Good afternoon.

Traffic rules of the Russian Federation; 13. Passage of intersections; 13.7. A driver who has entered an intersection with a permitting traffic light must leave in the intended direction regardless of traffic signals at the exit from the intersection. However, if there are stop lines (signs 6.16) at the intersection in front of the traffic lights located on the driver's path, the driver must follow the signals of each traffic light.

When turning left, make sure the red light turns on for oncoming traffic.

Sergey-862, the rules allow you to complete the traffic through the intersection (point of traffic rules).

However, you should understand that turning on red for your direction does not guarantee that red turns on for the opposite direction. If oncoming cars are driving, then you must first give way to them, and only then turn.

) there is a separate paragraph dedicated to traffic signals and how to perceive them, act in accordance with them.

Dear Readers! The article talks about typical ways of solving legal issues, but each case is individual. If you want to know how solve exactly your problem- contact a consultant:

Traffic lights work on the roads not only for drivers of motor vehicles or electric vehicles, but also for pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists, and scooters.

All road users must know what this equipment is like, whether signs are placed near it.

In addition, each motorist will also need to be aware of how to maneuver on a signal and what happens if he violated the traffic system, which is built by signal beacons of traffic lights.

Device definition

The very first traffic lights appeared in old England, its capital - London (10.12.1868). Only they were operated manually, since in those days automation was not yet so widespread in use.

All signaling devices on the streets of cities in Russia and the CIS countries belong as the property of the municipality.

Signaling equipment is provided not only for motorists, motorcyclists, but also pedestrians and cyclists. They are also used in railway and water transport infrastructure.

Traffic light is a special optical signal equipment that regulates traffic and the passage of pedestrians through highways.

Traffic lights are different. Some in the connection have a flashing green light and a red one. While others illuminate all three colors in order - red, yellow and green. As well as vice versa - green, yellow, red. There is a horizontal arrangement of lights, most often vertical.

Diagonal or circular section layouts do not apply. There are other types, as well as variations in the use of such installations in conjunction with road signs.

Views

In order not to make a rash and risky passage at a red light, you need to know the types of traffic lights. The understanding of the road user depends on this, in which direction to move, when, how long to wait, when to prepare, and so on.

When we talk about the types of traffic light installations, we mean their distribution by type. This results in a simple classification.

The types according to which the signal-indicating equipment is divided into groups or subgroups:

  1. Appointment.
  2. Consistency.
  3. The structure of the structure.
  4. Features of signaling work.
  5. Direction indication.

By destination:

  • road;
  • railway (semaphore);
  • river.

Road devices are divided into the following types:

  • pedestrian;
  • cyclists;
  • motor transport;
  • for route vehicles - buses, trams, etc.

According to the principle of constancy, regularity of light signaling:

Kind of work Description Where is it most often used
Constant traffic control It functions regardless of:
- days of the week;
- daily hours;
- established working traffic.
In small towns, settlements and beyond.
Adaptive motion control The signaling intervals are adjusted specifically to the rhythm and pace of general urban traffic.
When the unit changes its operating mode:
- at rush hour, to unload lanes, prevent, get rid of congestion;
- certain daytime hours;
- at night.
Large cities of the region, regional, administrative centers, megalopolises.

By the difference in structures, device mechanisms:

With the help of a point-like supply of LED light signals, you can create whole pictures. Therefore, images of arrows and various inscriptions are excellently obtained from these blocks.

But since drivers will not have time to read the inscriptions, in traffic lights, arrows made up of LED mini-lamps are most often used.

Advantages of LED matrix traffic lights over other devices:

LEDs Halogen With tungsten filament
Minimum energy consumption of electricity. Average energy costs. The biggest costs of consumed electricity.
Long service life. For example, with a buffer gas in a flask, the average service life is 2000-4000 hours. The average burning time is 1000 hours.
Flicker is minimal. Long-term - before failure. For a short time - before a breakdown.
The brightness of the color rendering. Average brightness Minimum to medium brightness indexing.
Additional protection at subzero temperatures of the atmosphere is necessary. Protection from minus degrees is average.

Conclusion - a traffic light on LEDs will last much longer. In this case, there will be no special breakdowns, blinking and other malfunctions, which are often recorded at halogen points or incandescent lamps.

Traffic lights-indicators can be placed separately, but next to the usual optical signaling equipment. Arrows can be in the form of a plate, but also interactive, work on the principle of a traffic light.

Several types of traffic lights:

  • with a single additional section - one arrow;
  • with a double section - two arrows;
  • outline arrows;
  • solid arrows;
  • installed autonomously;
  • equipped with an additional section to the traffic light.

Arrows generate signals:

  • red prohibiting movement;
  • green, opening passage, passage.

Outline or solid arrows by priority are equivalent (clause 6.3 of the SDA). There are combinations designed to indicate the direction, as well as show permission or prohibition to travel in a specific direction, opposite the direction sign.

Signs

Clause 6.15 of the Rules states that if the signals given by the traffic light cancel the action of any road signs standing next to them, then it is the traffic signals that should be obeyed.

Signs can be displayed completely different, depending on what order the traffic police wants to create on the road section.

For example, let's list the signs:

  • tram;
  • main track;
  • narrowing of the path;
  • pedestrian;
  • dead end;
  • any arrow indicating the path and trajectory of movement;
  • forbidding - "STOP";
  • allowing overtaking;
  • prohibiting passage, etc.

For example, at an intersection, there can be STOP-line markings on the asphalt, and a STOP sign near the traffic light. This indicates that the driver must stop anyway.

However, if a green circle lights up at a traffic light, then you should adhere to this signal and continue driving.

Traffic light designation

The main optical signal designations of the installation:

Colour What means Practical use
Red Stop the movement! As long as the red light is on, you cannot continue driving in the direction in which the road user was heading.
Yellow Slow down! 1. Approaching a traffic light, which indicates a yellow signal, participants can already slow down, slow down.
2. And, on the contrary, waiting for the end of the red signal, seeing the yellow one - the participants are only allowed to get ready to cross the road, but not yet go, do not go.
Green The path is clear! The movement is allowed.
Moon white The passage is open for route vehicles! One white traffic light, or several lunar-white signals are designed to regulate the movement of route passenger vehicles:
- trams;
- trolleybuses;
-buses. Installed on:
- intersections;
- lanes of route vehicles;
- stripes where a double solid line is drawn;
- the zone of changing one lane to another when they change places.

Arrangement of color signal lights:

Peculiarities:

  1. The inclusion of yellow illumination is skipped. In some installations, there is no passage to the yellow light, or its burning is simply turned off by special programming.
  2. Lack of permanent (non-blinking) glow. The lamps may flicker to warn of the imminent disconnection of this signal on the device.
  3. A white traffic light is not installed on roads in isolation from others. In this case, a 4-section installation is used, on which.

The yellow section can be turned off in accordance with certain regulations, when a preparatory passage is not required due to not too heavy traffic on the site.

In this case, immediately after red, green lights up, and vice versa. Participants may not wait a long time for permission to pass, drive, but move immediately after the red signal is turned off.

Blinking with a certain regularity, interval and frequency prompts the participants that such a signal will soon turn off. This makes it possible to navigate in time in order to tune in to the movement or stop in time.

In a situation where there is no yellow tanning, the rules do not deny participants to use the signals of the remaining working sections, but only for their intended purpose.

The stop is also regulated by the green light. If a green light is on and has already started flashing on equipment intended for cars, then drivers should understand that after half a second or a second, the signal may change to red. In this case, it is better to slow down, especially if the yellow is disabled.

In this case, you can focus on the adjacent traffic light. For example, if a green "window" is blinking for pedestrians, then it becomes clear to motorists that they will soon be able to move.

This method is especially helpful in the event of a temporary failure of a car traffic light and serviceability of a pedestrian.

Priority on traffic rules

In general, it is possible to note the type of road signs that are canceled by the signaling traffic light system - the traffic light cancels the priority signs and regulates the movement or stopping of vehicles.

It is necessary not only to list the signs that are installed next to traffic lights, but also to consider specific situations with examples. This is done to make it easier to remember how the systems function.

Consider the most common road signs and the work of traffic lights to cancel priority signs.

The following groups of road signs are not canceled by traffic signals:

  • prohibiting;
  • prescriptive;
  • indicative;
  • informational.

It can be not only shields of different geometric shapes, mounted on metal poles. But also signs, directional arrows and even road markings with numbers, words and symbols.

For reference: If motorists have to choose between traffic signals and the gestures of a traffic controller, then the latter will play a dominant role in the road signaling system.

When the traffic controller is standing straight, without movement, it means that drivers should adhere to the order regulated by traffic lights or road signs, depending on what the intersection is equipped with.

A sign "Main road" can be placed near a traffic light, which has an additional section - a green arrow indicator that directs drivers in the direction where they are allowed to go.

This indicator lights up when the red light is on at the same traffic light. Gets that motorists who are going to go straight on the main highway should stop and wait for their green signal.

Whereas for a motorist intending to turn to the right, a lighted green arrow opens a passage into a turn.

Regulated intersections are always characterized by the fact that traffic lights are located on them, and it is their signals that serve as a priority for supplying primary signal lights.

These signals should be observed by motorists and pedestrians on these roads. Traffic signs serve as a secondary priority.

For example, there is a sign "Give in to the train", but for the one for whom it was delivered, the green light of the traffic light came on. This suggests that he is allowed to pass first, despite the fact that the sign requires something completely different.

In other words, at such intersections, equipped with the sign "red triangle, top down", the oncoming car does not need to give way if the green light is allowed to pass.

When there is a need to turn left, you should also adhere to the traffic signal here. But the sign "Make way" must also be taken into account.

Therefore, the oncoming car is passed, and then a maneuver is made - a left turn. In this case, the traffic lights for such a motorist should be green.

But there are circumstances when turning left, folding on the roads in such a way that you need to skip a car driving even on a secondary road.

For example, in front of you is a green traffic light, a sign "Main road" and a sign "Turn left on the main road".

When you need to turn left, and then a car with a flashing beacon system installed on the roof drives out, then you need to give way to it, only then make a maneuver.

Additional section

Traffic light equipment with additional sections depicting arrows, or luminous circles, discs, are usually placed at intersections with busy traffic during the day. All the same color lights are used with a characteristic designation for each of them.

For example, arrow images are endowed with the same semantic loads, only the addition is also an indication of the direction where it is allowed or prohibited to move:

  1. Green luminous disc, circle-ring or arrow - allows passage, passage of the path.
  2. Red - prohibits.
  3. Yellow - prepares.

If pedestrians need to move in the same direction as the passage of vehicles, and there is only one traffic light, then an additional section can be used for pedestrians or cars, motorcycles.

The additional section looks like another cell, which can be located in one row with the main lights, or it can be pulled out to the side.

The peculiarity of the use of additional sections is the simultaneous glow of various signal lights.

For example, the red light of a traffic light is on, and on the additional one there is a green arrow-pointer. The meaning of this combination is priority.

First, cars driving along the predominant path at the moment when the enabling signals are switched on for them are allowed to pass, and then only the movement is made.

Stop

If there are no restrictive markings on the highway, then it is sometimes difficult for motorists to decide where exactly to stop in front of a traffic light.

In this case, it is necessary to refer to the road signs, which must be present. It is believed that it is their point of location that serves as the beginning of an imaginary line, which can easily be drawn perpendicular to the roadway in order to understand where to stop.

"But what if the sign was hoisted right at the traffic light?" - the drivers will ask. In this case, you can visually draw a line from the traffic light and perpendicular to the roadway.

Without driving behind it and stopping so that the radiator grill, the front bumper does not crawl out of the line. But this is in the event that the marking of the STOP line is not drawn near the traffic light.

If it is available, then it is even easier for drivers - they simply cannot call for it when stopping.

Correct position of cars when stopping in front of traffic lights:

Almost the same rule works when stopping near a traffic light serving a railway crossing.

On the road, whether there is a STOP line or not, you should still stop outside the imaginary line drawn perpendicular to the path, starting from the installation point of the 2-section traffic light.

the main road

The presence of this signaling device at intersections, turns, makes them adjustable. It is here that it is important to understand the equivalence or not of highways. The sign - "yellow diamond" indicates the presence of a main road.

Accordingly, the second crossing is secondary, if the same sign is not installed on it. In any case, the presence of a traffic light makes the intersection regulated, which means that it is allowed to pass at a green traffic light.

When the motorist sees a blinking yellow signal, then the system warns him that in a split second there will be a switch to green or red. This is a transient signal that allows the driver to tune in to the appropriate action.

When there are signs that control the direction of the road, showing the trajectory of its movement, then traffic signals cannot cancel this in any way. But they work in adjusting the intensity, the sequence of movement.

When the main one leaves to the left or to the right, then you just need to navigate by the permission signal of the traffic light and the arrow on the additional section, if there is one.

Reversal

Another difficulty can be a U-turn at an intersection where a traffic light is installed. This is where road signs come in handy.

If there is a red circle with a black arrow inside, on a white field, indicating a turn to the right or left, but it is crossed out by a red line, then the maneuver is strictly prohibited. In this case, the presence of a traffic light will not affect in any way.

U-turn instruction:

  1. You need to take the left lane if you turn to the right, or, conversely, take the right lane when you turn to the left.
  2. The turn signal turns on, signaling to other participants in which direction the driver is going to turn off.
  3. Stop. Traffic light signals are observed.
  4. The clutch is squeezed out.
  5. Transfer "1" is included.
  6. Keeping your foot in this position, you should look around and see that all cars on the priority sections of the path are skipped, and the passage for maneuver is free.
  7. The brake pedal is released.
  8. The steering wheel rotates in the direction in which you need to make a U-turn.
  9. Turn signal turns off.
  10. The car is leveled and drives along the new lane, observing further rules.

If the traffic light is equipped with an additional section, then it will be very convenient for motorists to orient themselves in order to make a U-turn.

At such a traffic light, this is done according to the following rules:

  1. Wait until the green arrow lights up, pointing in the desired direction.
  2. You can't go straight through a red light.
  3. In the absence of other signs and moving cars, if there is free passage, you can make a U-turn to another road.

What is it needed for

Among the classic equipment options that were considered above, there are also specific traffic lights: duplicate and reversible. Their use in Russia has already become quite active today.

The first one is so called by the word "understudy", which means - "repetition". A reversible traffic light indicates different directions of movement, although it is attached (suspended), or stands within the boundaries of one lane.

All these devices should be installed within the line of sight of driving drivers, walking pedestrians.

Duplicating

A duplicate traffic light informs participants in motion about the same signal as the main device. It must be carried out according to and relate to the marking - "T.1" and "T.2". It is placed at the intersection, or immediately behind the intersection.

This takes into account the good visibility of the signals that are given to drivers. These copies are needed in order to enhance the attention of drivers and pedestrians in places of the most intensive traffic.

These settings may have arrows on additional sections, but may reflect other images and symbols. The design and shape of such traffic lights are often different from those of the main equipment. They can be hung over the carriageway, or they can be parked on the side of the road.

Pedestrian pedestrian ones are laid under the asphalt on the road, or are installed above the pedestrian crossing. They duplicate not only directions, but also various instructions - traffic bans, travel permits, pedestrian warnings, etc.

Reversible

A reversible traffic light is needed in those places of highways where traffic can change during the day. In the absence of such a traffic light, the flow adjustment is made by such a special person as a traffic controller - a traffic police officer.

This is required to relieve the flow rate so that congestion does not form on highways and street city roads.

Placement of such traffic lights:

  1. Suspension over the carriageway, not far from the main traffic light, road signs.
  2. In tunnels, over lanes.
  3. Above roundabouts and other intersections with the most intense traffic.

When approaching a section where a reverse traffic light works, you should pay attention to some elements that prompt participants about this in advance.

Signs of operation of the reversible installation:

  1. The presence of a traffic light with reverse signs.
  2. Asphalt markings are double dashed lines placed on both sides of the lane. The strokes and the distances between them are the same.
  3. The iconic reversing traffic light system is reflected in the following designations:

    Name Image Designation
    Letter "X" Does not allow movement on the reverse action lane.
    The reason is that the flow of the opposite direction begins to move on it.
    Left or Right Diagonal Arrow After a few seconds, the signal will change, and motorists are obliged to change to the lane located in the direction of the arrow.

    - Red;
    - yellow;
    - green.

    Green down arrow Allowing to move straight, along the lane of reverse traffic.

    Initial and repeated violation of the rules of travel

    Liability measures for driving through redirection signals are determined in accordance with articles of the Code of Administrative Law - Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation.

    Whatever the lane, whatever the road signs are nearby, whatever the modification of the traffic light, there is always one penalty for driving through a red light. Moreover, it also applies to those cases when it is impossible to drive through the warning yellow light of the equipment.

    Today everyone understands what a traffic light is. Colors: red, yellow and green - are familiar even to a child.

    However, there was a time when these optical devices were not available, and it was not very easy to cross the street. Especially in big cities, passers-by had to skip endless horse-drawn carriages for a long time.

    The cross streets were full of confusion and endless arguments.

    A small excursion into history

    Initially, the traffic light was invented by the British. It was staged in London at the end of 68 of the 19th century. Man controlled it. The mechanism had two hands. When they were in a horizontal position, traffic was prohibited, and when they were lowered, passage was allowed. At night, a gas burner was turned on, with the help of which a red and green signal was given. It turned out to be unsafe. The gas exploded, injured the policeman, and the traffic light was removed.

    It was only at the beginning of the twentieth century that an automatic traffic light was patented in America. Colors were not used in it, their inscriptions were replaced.

    The red color is very clearly visible in any weather: when the sun is shining brightly, it is raining, or there is fog. From a physical point of view, red has a maximum wavelength. This is probably why he was chosen as forbidden. All over the world, the meaning of red is the same.

    Another signal at a traffic light is green. This is the color of calmness, pacification. It has a relaxing effect on the human brain. Green allows movement. It can be seen far enough, any driver sees this color long before passing the traffic light and calmly, without braking, overcomes the intersection.

    However, as they say, there is an unspoken rule according to which, when passing a dangerous intersection, it is still worth slowing down, even when the traffic light shows green. This action often helps to avoid serious accidents.

    Yellow - pay attention

    Traffic light yellow is intermediate. It carries a warning function and encourages road users to pay attention. The color yellow is said to symbolize intelligence, intuition and quick wits. It usually lights up after red, urging drivers to prepare for movement. As practice shows, many drivers perceive a yellow traffic light as a permitting signal and start driving. This is wrong, although it is not punishable by penalties. When the yellow light turns on, you need to squeeze the clutch, get ready, but to start driving, it is better to wait for the green one, especially since you only need to wait a couple of seconds.

    In reverse order: green, yellow, red - the traffic light does not work. In modern devices, after green, red immediately lights up, while in the last minutes green starts blinking.

    You may also sometimes see a continuously flashing yellow traffic light. This indicates that the traffic light is disabled or broken. Most often, traffic lights flash yellow at night.

    Pedestrian traffic light

    There is also a traffic light to regulate pedestrian traffic. What colors are used in it? Red and green are unambiguous, but yellow is absent as unnecessary. A person does not need special preparation for crossing the road.

    They are usually depicted as walking men. For the convenience of pedestrians, a time counter has recently been used. A special stopwatch counts down how many seconds are left before the opposite signal turns on.

    As with ordinary traffic lights, red prohibits traffic, and green indicates that the passage is open.

    When driving through an intersection, drivers should be aware that pedestrians are taking advantage of them. For example, at an intersection, a car turns right at a green traffic light, while pedestrians crossing a perpendicular road are also green. In this case, the motorist is obliged to let all pedestrians pass and only then continue driving.

    What is the "green wave"

    In large metropolitan areas, motorway traffic is accompanied by a large number of traffic lights that regulate traffic. The traffic light, the colors of which are known to everyone, switches them at regular intervals. This frequency is automatically adjusted and ensures the safety of vehicles.

    Green Wave is tied to vehicle speed. It is assumed that, moving at a certain average speed, the driver, having hit a green traffic light, will also hit the green light along the entire length of the highway. The three colors of the traffic light switch at regular intervals, and there is consistency between the set of traffic lights. At all intersections of the route, agreed on this principle, there is the same cyclicality.

    "Green Wave" was developed for the convenience of crossing intersections; technically, this is not difficult to implement. As a rule, on such highways, signs are additionally installed with the recommended speed, which will ensure uninterrupted passage of intersections.

    The driver's and pedestrian's assistant is a three-eyed traffic light. The colors are switched in order and adjust the course, ensuring the safety of all road users. By observing in good faith, serious accidents and unpleasant situations on the roads can be avoided.

    Traffic lights are optical devices that provide a light signal that regulates the movement of road, rail, water and other vehicles, including pedestrians.

    Traffic signals are regulated. And how does a traffic light work at a railway crossing, and how does it light up?

    What is the name of

    Traffic lights at a railway crossing are indicated by traffic lights or crossing signals.

    What level crossings are installed

    Light signaling devices at level crossings are installed in accordance with the Basic Requirements for Level Crossing Equipment.

    The installation of signaling devices occurs at crossings involving bus traffic, as well as located on the main track with a predominance of heavy train and road traffic, high speeds of railway transport, and unsatisfactory visibility conditions.

    Traffic lights are located on the right side of the road in the direction of traffic and consist of two horizontally located lanterns emitting an alternating blinking signal.

    If on the section of the road where the crossing is located, poor visibility and heavy traffic prevail, then duplication of traffic lights on the opposite side of the roadway is allowed.

    At some crossings, it is allowed to install a traffic light with two red lights, which, if the passage is prohibited, emit alternating blinking, and one white-lunar lamp, which emits a blinking signal.

    Such a device is equipped mainly at unregulated level crossings with the absence of a responsible railway officer - a duty officer.

    Additional installation of the white-moon lantern is approved by the Ministry of Railways.

    Traffic lights operating in automatic mode have an adjustment that allows you to start giving a signal to prohibit the movement of vehicles for the period necessary for drivers to have time to free the crossing.

    When the train enters the approximate part of the railway track, the traffic light emits a sound signal of the train and starts flashing alternately with red lights.

    After the crossing is completely free of railway transport, the signaling devices are turned off.

    In order to open the semi-automatic barrier and turn off the flashing traffic light, the crossing officer presses the "open" button.

    Traffic light signaling at a level crossing with a duty officer on the driveway and other ways where it is not possible to equip rails, a red flashing traffic light signal is turned on by pressing the corresponding button located on the crossing device panel.

    Where not provided

    The presence of light signaling is provided for almost every crossing. However, if it is unprofitable to maintain a traffic light device at a certain crossing, it may simply not be there.

    The main thing is that in this case certain conditions are observed: good visibility, lack of traffic intensity from the side of the railroad bed and the road, etc.

    Despite the fact that there is no traffic light value at railway crossings at the intersection of a railway and a highway, there must be mandatory warning signs and appropriate road markings.

    Stop sign at a railway crossing with a traffic light

    If there is a STOP sign and a traffic light at the crossing, then the priority is given to light signals.

    For example, if a traffic light emits a red flashing signal, then movement on the crossing is prohibited and the driver must stop at the stop line or before the intersection of a railway and a highway.

    But when the traffic light does not emit any signals, the situation is much more confusing.

    It seems that the traffic light allows passage, since it does not emit prohibitory signals, which means that you can go through the crossing without stopping, besides, the traffic light has an advantage over all passive signs.

    However, the STOP sign means that movement without stopping is prohibited, that is, the driver must stop at the stop line or before crossing the railroad with the automobile.

    There is no definite answer to this question in the Road Traffic Rules, therefore, analyzing situations that may be associated with a thoughtless crossing of a crossing, we can conclude that it would be more expedient to stop after all.

    After all, a traffic light at a crossing can simply be broken and not emit prohibitory signals.

    Before starting to move along the crossing and, accordingly, along the railway line, you should carefully assess the situation for the approach, the absence / presence of the train.

    Such a stop can save the driver from instant death under the wheels of railway transport.

    In addition, traffic police officers and inspectors have the right to fine the driver for a violation - not stopping at the request of the STOP sign, that is, to interpret the ambiguity of the situation in their favor.

    Signal meaning

    While driving on level crossings, a disputable situation may arise in front of the driver related to equipment and traffic lights.

    If you do not know the meaning of each signal emitted by this or that type of traffic light, the driver may fall under a violation and be liable to the fullest extent possible before the law. In some cases, such an oversight can lead to the death of innocent people.

    It should be noted that the traffic light can be located at the crossing together with the sign “movement without stopping is prohibited”.

    Many drivers, seeing this sign, do not pay attention to the traffic light and stop before crossing.

    However, if the traffic light does not emit prohibitory signals, then it is not necessary to stop at the request of such a sign. The stop should take place only when the traffic light is in the forbidden state.

    The following traffic light signals and their meanings should be remembered:

    • the switched on red signal means a ban on further movement of vehicles on the crossing;
    • off red signal means permission for further movement on the crossing after careful inspection of the railway tracks for the presence of a train;
    • the switched on red signal, the switched off white-lunar signal, means that vehicles are prohibited from moving on the crossing;
    • the off red signal, the on white-lunar signal, means that you can move through the crossing;
    • off red signal, off white-lunar signal, means that the crossing signaling device is faulty or is in deactivated mode.

    Red light

    Traffic lights are of two types:

    • three-section. When the red lights are flashing, crossing the level crossing is prohibited. Stop in front of the stop line or in front of the corresponding sign. With a white signal of a three-section traffic light, movement on the crossing is allowed;
    • two-section. When alternating flashing red lights, movement on the level crossing is prohibited. If the crossing does not emit any lighting, then the passage is allowed.

    Both of these types are intended to inform the driver about the possibility of movement on the railway crossing.

    Flashing

    The flashing of one red signal or two alternately flashing signals of the semaphore, which is installed at the level crossing, inform the driver that further movement on the level crossing is prohibited (Rules of the road, clause 6.2).

    White-lunar

    The flashing of the white-moon signal located at the railway crossings gives permission for the movement of vehicles along the crossing.

    If it is turned off, regardless of the color emitted when turned on (white-lunar, red), it is allowed to move, but upon preliminary inspection of the railway track for the presence of railway transport.

    It turns out that you can move along the crossing:

    • with a flashing moon-white traffic light located at the crossing;
    • when the white-moon and red traffic lights are off.

    If we talk about traffic lights located directly on the railroad bed and designed to perform shunting work by trains and trains, then two warning colors are subdivided:

    • moon-white color allows shunting operations;

    White

    If a white light flashes at the level crossing, it means that all technical level crossing systems are in good working order. The flashing of the moon-white lantern does not mean that the passage is cleared.

    Other colors

    And there are also other light signals:

    • green color allows the composition to dissolve at the set speed;
    • yellow color allows the composition to dissolve at the lowest speed;
    • at the same time, yellow and green color allows the composition to be dissolved at a speed equal to the interval between the set and the lowest speed limit;
    • red prohibits the dissolution of the composition.

    The railway traffic light is designed to regulate the movement of railway, shunting trains. And also with the help of them, the speed indicators are regulated when dissolving from the sorting humps.

    The light signals of such traffic lights mean:

    • red lighting says that railway transport is obliged to stop traffic;
    • yellow lighting allows movement when using a reduced speed (from 40 to 60 kilometers per hour, depending on territorial conditions) until approaching the next traffic light, the driver must be ready to stop;
    • green lighting permits movement at set speeds and indicates the freedom of two or more block sections (automatic blocking) or the entire stretch (semi-automatic blocking);
    • flashing moon white lighting together with a burning red, it is considered permissive for movement, subject to precautions, while the speed should not exceed 20 kilometers per hour, the driver must be ready to stop immediately if an obstacle occurs;
    • flashing yellow lighting with a burning yellow lamp, it allows movement with indicators of the set speed, informs about the opening of the next traffic light and about deviations along the turnouts;
    • double yellow lighting allows movement at reduced speed indicators, informs about the closure of the next traffic light and about deviations along the turnouts;
    • single flashing amber light permits movement with the set speed indicators, informs about the opening of the next traffic light and about a decrease in the speed indicator.

    Travel rules

    Each driver, approaching a crossing, must remember all the traffic rules associated with the passage of railway tracks, including the signals emitted by traffic lights.

    Traffic lights located at level crossings consist of two red lights arranged horizontally. A white lantern is located between or below these red lanterns.

    Every driver should know what any signal emitted by a traffic light at a railway crossing means:

    • if two red lights flash alternately, then you cannot move along the crossing. The alternating flashing of red lights works in conjunction with audible alarms, if any, at the crossing.
    • if the white light flashes alternately, the technical system of the level crossing is in good working order. It turns out that the white-moon lantern is not considered decisive when prohibiting or allowing movement on the crossing.

    What to do if the semaphore is broken and not working

    If the traffic light is working properly, then, as mentioned above, when the lights are on, all priority signs are canceled. Passive signs are markings applied to the roadway, and traffic lights are active.

    Traffic lights are called active devices due to signal changes, as opposed to markings, which constantly indicate the same rule.

    In the case of a working signal at a traffic light emitted by red lighting, it is the semaphore that should be guided by.

    If the traffic light is off, then you should pay attention to the markings, namely, stop in front of the “STOP” sign and make sure that there is no train on the railroad tracks.

    Penalties for driving on a red light

    Traffic lights are installed at almost every level crossing, and sometimes a light device is located in conjunction with a barrier.

    Passage is allowed only if the barrier is open (if any) and the traffic light does not flash red.

    Movement on the level crossing will also be prohibited in case of presence of the person on duty at the level crossing and by the special signs that prohibit passage given by him.

    The punishment for crossing a railway track in the presence of a traffic light, alternately flashing red, will be a fine in the amount of 1 thousand rubles or deprivation of the right to drive a vehicle for a period of three to six months. Overtaking on the tracks is also prohibited.

    This violation is considered the most serious, which poses a threat to the health and life of citizens. In this regard, such a severe punishment is provided.

    Every resident of even the smallest city remembers from childhood the lessons on traffic rules concerning the rules for crossing the road. It is natural for humans to grow, and many gradually turn from pedestrians into drivers. To drive on the road correctly, you need to understand not only road signs and markings, but also traffic signals.

    Traffic signals at an intersection

    The most famous three-color traffic lights, consisting of the following set of colors:

    • Red traffic light ... When steadily lit, passing a red traffic light is prohibited on the road on which the traffic light is installed. A flashing red light also prohibits movement, but also notifies of the imminent switching of signals ... This type of signal is most often used at a level crossing, and on normal roads this goal is achieved by simultaneously turning on the red and yellow signals.
    • Yellow traffic light ... In a stable burning state, it prohibits movement in all cases, except for a situation when the driver crosses the road lane, but does not have time to brake his vehicle before marking. In this situation, it is necessary, if possible, to leave the intersection area. A yellow flashing traffic light allows movement, and also informs about an unregulated intersection and a pedestrian crossing.
    • What does a green traffic light mean? ... In a stable burning state, it allows driving on the road lane. A green flashing traffic light also allows you to move, but also warns of the expiration of the burning time.

    Also on many roads there are possible additions to the traffic light. Recently, it is common to set timers that indicate the operating time of the enabling signal. Additionally, there may be arrows that are mounted at the level of the green lantern either on one side or on both sides.

    What do traffic light signals mean?

    Traffic rules for various traffic signals with arrows can be described as follows:

    Traffic light with two arrows Tram traffic light Trackless vehicle
    Single lane traffic Two-lane traffic Three-lane traffic
    Central green traffic light only Only forward movement Only forward movement Only forward movement Only forward movement
    Central green traffic light + right arrow Move forward + right Move forward + right Move forward for everyone, move right only for the far right lane
    Center green signal + left arrow Move forward + left Move forward + left + turn Move forward for everyone, move left or make a U-turn only for the leftmost lane
    Center green signal + both arrows Movement is allowed in all directions Move forward + turns + turn Move forward for all, turns for the outermost lanes according to the rules, turn only for the outermost left lane
    Red traffic light + right arrow Move only right Move only right Driving only to the right and only to the right lane. For the rest of the lanes, traffic is prohibited.
    Red traffic light + left arrow Move only to the left Movement only to the left or a U-turn Driving for the left lane only: turning or turning. The rest of the stripes are standing.
    Red signal + both arrows No forward movement, no turning Forward movement is prohibited, turns and reversals are allowed Forward movement is prohibited, turns in both directions and a U-turn from the extreme left lane are allowed Forward movement is prohibited, turns in both directions are allowed only from the extreme lanes, a U-turn is allowed only from the extreme left lane
    Only red signal Road up Road up Road up Road up

    For a set of a standard traffic light and one arrow, the requirements are less stringent.

    So, let's take a three-lane road as an example
    ... If a green traffic light with an arrow to the right is on, then the rules specified in the table will apply for the central and right lane. At the same time, standard traffic rules apply for the left lane. The inhibit signal is subject to the same restrictions. In the daytime, such an addition to the traffic light is clearly visible, but not always it can be seen at night. For this reason, black arrow outlines are glued to the center signal to indicate the action for a particular lane. If there is no such schematic representation on the greenest lamp, the signal is valid for all road users, regardless of their location on the road. There are also traffic lights that show arrows instead of the usual round traffic signal. In this case, traffic regulation occurs only for those directions to which the arrows point.

    At night, most traffic lights turn off and they enter yellow flashing light mode. In this case, the intersection is considered unregulated and must be passed in accordance with the relevant traffic rules.

    Pedestrian and bike crossing signal

    There are only 2 sections at traffic lights for the indicated road users. For pedestrians, a person is depicted, and for cyclists, their two-wheeled transport is drawn.... In the area of pedestrian crossings, traffic lights are increasingly equipped with a timer indicating the waiting time and the time allotted for the crossing. Additionally, for the deaf, a speaker can be installed, announcing the permitted direction of the transition, as well as its beginning and end.

    In some cases, in the presence of bicycle lanes, reduced analogs of road three-section traffic lights can be used, under which a white plate with a bicycle sign is fixed.

    Reversing traffic signals

    These signals are used on roads with the same name, when traffic in some lanes can be carried out both in one direction and in the other direction. The direction of travel along one or another lane of the reverse road is determined by the degree of congestion for each side. The following types of signals are used:

    • red cross in the shape of the letter "X" - prohibits movement on a specific lane of the reverse road;
    • yellow arrow pointing to the right - instructs the driver to change to the lane located nearby on the right side;
    • green arrow forwards - allows movement along the given lane.

    These types of roads are not widespread in the Russian Federation, therefore, few drivers are familiar with such an organization of traffic.

    The meaning of traffic lights for rail transport

    Traffic signals for trams

    For trams, a white four-cell traffic light is used in the shape of a “T” symbol. Movement for them is allowed only when the lower signal is on, and the upper cells indicate possible directions of movement.

    Railway traffic lights also often have a white lamp in their arsenal, which regulates traffic across the level crossing:

    Traffic light signals at a railway crossing on a railway can also be both red and flash alternately. In this case, travel is strictly prohibited. Movement is only allowed when both lamps are off.

    Penalty for non-observance of traffic signals

    For violation of the instructions of the electronic traffic controller, the following penalties are prescribed:

    • red traffic light penalty- not less than 1000 rubles, with a repeated passage on a red traffic light at least 5000 rubles or deprivation of a VU for a period of 4-6 months, article 12.12 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation;
    • yellow traffic light penalty- for the first violation, 1000 rubles are threatened, in case of a repeated violation, the amount of the fine will be 5000 rubles or deprivation of a driver's license for a period of 4 to 6 months;
    • non-observance of the stop line in front of the intersection- not less than 800 rubles.
    • when leaving the lane of reverse traffic with the traffic light off- not less than 5,000 rubles, since because of the traffic light operating on the other side, traffic can be regarded as driving into the oncoming lane;
    • in case of non-observance of the lane change on the reverse road- not less than 500 rubles under article 12.15 of the Administrative Code.

    Compliance with traffic light regulations allows traffic to be regulated in such a way that road users are in a safer and more comfortable environment. Therefore, in order not to increase the likelihood of getting into an accident for yourself and others, you should be careful on the roads. This will help keep not only your budget intact, but also your life.
