It's time for you to throw your first Apple Watch away. They are awful. How to set up Apple Watch: charge, turn on, pair with iPhone, and install apps Apple watch series 1 won't turn on

Apple is praised for upgrades to older devices. For example, the current iOS 11 works even on the iPhone 5s, which was released in 2013, and watchOS 4 on the very first Apple Watch from 2015.

In the first case, it can be called a long-term support with a stretch, but in the second - real mockery over users.

With the latest updates, the first Apple Watch is no longer perceived as a smartwatch. It's a cute accessory with a bunch of straps to choose from - nothing more.

I took the first AW instead of my own for a couple of days

They started complaining about the first Apple Watch on the latest firmware last year. You wrote to us in the comments that they work disgustingly, and my acquaintances, as well as colleagues on the site, told me about this.

I remember when in September 2017 Mikk own vintage Apple Watch with brand new Series 3, actively threw photos to me in Telegram and was happy like a child.

He was surprised that they are almost identical in appearance, but the first is a moped, and the second is a Ferrari.

Then, with my Series 2, I did not understand his emotions. This clock still works tolerably well today, so I could not believe that everything is so bad with the first.

But the other day I had the opportunity to wear a 2015 Apple Watch on my wrist for a couple of days. And I famously felt everything on myself charms vaunted manufacturer support.

Guys, this is tough!

Tried third party apps, unsuccessful

The first Apple Watch does a pretty good job of displaying the time and showing new notifications. This is where their "smart" capabilities end. No seriously.

For example, the Fantastical 2 calendar, which I actively use on the iPhone, together with the Things 3 planner, simply did not start.

First stubbornly showed a black screen and the second displayed the loading wheel for a couple of minutes three or four times in a row. Of course, I didn't wait, I freaked out and stopped his torment.

At the same time, they work great on Series 2 - they start almost instantly and open access to all basic functions: tasks for today, scheduled tasks.

The situation is not much better with Facebook Messenger and Telegram, the Runtastic tracker, as well as other third-party applications.

They take so long to load that the whole point of it disappears.

The first Apple Watch makes it easier to get your iPhone out of your pocket.

Native software works slowly, uncertainly

In order to somehow use this smartwatch, I uncovered a set of standard applications on the iPhone: Calendar, Reminders, Messages, Mail - almost everything that is on the Apple Watch out of the box.

With them, the first Apple watches are slow and hesitant. But at least they somehow you can use.

But the remote iPhone application, with which I often take spy photos of my little mischievous dog, turned out to be practically useless. I just didn't have enough nerves for him.

Owners of the first Apple Watch, is it really that bad for you, or is it just for me lucky?

But all these are flowers in comparison with the clumsy work of even the most menu for launching applications... It opens for a long time, reluctantly tosses and turns and does not cause a desire to meet him face to face.

Even changed dials only through the iPhone

To be honest, on the latest watchOS, the pre-configured dials turn over with noticeable twitching even on my Series 2 - I have repeatedly drawn attention to this.

Usually I have one minimalistic screen like “Numbers” or X-Large for non-busy days, one “Simple” for intermediate and “Modular” for the craziest ones with a bunch of meetings and tasks.

On Apple Watch 2015, I generally did not flip through the dials so as not to lose my temper. But I found a "crutch" - you can change them through the watch application on the iPhone - select the desired one and "Assign current".

I agree that there is no point in using a watch in this format. Maybe then let them just be a stylish accessory on the wrist ?! Today they are no longer capable of anything else.

They were ruined by the new OS, but the straps fit

If you haven’t had time to upgrade to watchOS 4 or higher, don’t need to. On version 3, the first Apple Watch does not work perfectly, but definitely better.

And the only plus of this gadget at the beginning of 2018 is that all Apple smartwatch straps fit any model, including them. Therefore, two days together with this miracle of technology I changed them as actively as possible in order to somehow justify the whole idea.

Again! Think three times before updating to the latest watchOS.

For example, I will definitely not transfer to 5 of my S2s, then they will have to go to the basket ahead of time.

Perhaps Apple is generally better off starting to make watches by subscription - if they do not change externally, let them update the filling for 100-150 bucks a year. Of course, this is fantastic, but the satisfaction from using such a gadget would be much greater.

New Apple Watch Series 3 with cellular. The good news is that watchOS 4, Apple's smartwatch operating system, is one of the more comprehensive on the market. This leads to a steep learning curve, but there is plenty of room for customization. And things will only get better when WatchOS 5 is unveiled, likely at WWDC 2018 in June. We've combined 20 essential goodies like Apple Watch Tips and Tricks to make your smartwatch even more personal, including improvements to watchOS 4 and subsequent updates. From adding music to trimming unwanted notifications and even taking screenshots.

Apple Watch Tips and Tricks: Organize and use the dock for Apple apps.

Apple has gathered a large number of users who enjoy using watchOS 3, and now you can view all open applications by pressing the side button. You should make full use of this dock by stacking it in your most popular apps. What for? Because these are the apps that your watch will prioritize when updating information and background.
You can set up the dock in the companion viewer app. It can be configured to use the most recent apps you've used, a bit like multitasking on an iPhone. Or you can turn it into a suitable docking station with your favorite apps.
If you choose the latter, you can easily customize which applications you need there and they will appear in the list. If you would like to customize the docking station on your watch, you can do so by pressing the side button, then 3D touching the app and pressing “ Keep in dock».

No. 2. Track your sleep.

Apple does not offer its own built-in sleep tracking, which means it may not fully match Fitbit, Garmin, and other users offering full safety control right out of the box. But luckily there are many apps that can bring the Watch function. We've selected the best sleep tracking apps for Apple Watch so you don't have to search the App Store for them.

No. 3. Watch the time discreetly.

If you want to check the time without lifting your wrist, you can slowly flip the digital crown upward and it will gradually illuminate the screen so you can look inside rather than completely illuminate the watch screen. Sorry original Apple Watch Series 1 owners, this one won't work for you.

No. 4. Music playback control.

If you've updated watchOS 4.3, you can control music playback on your Apple HomePod and iPhone right from your Watch. Of course, iPhone users could briefly do this after starting watchOS 4 for the first time, although it was quickly removed after music streaming was added to smartwatches via watchOS 4.1.
However, many users who enjoy control and launching HomePod can now select tunes, change the volume, and skip everything.

No. 5. Change the sound volume in AirPods.

If you want to change the volume on AirPods without taking out your iPhone, you must ask Siri. Hidden to say the least, but if you own an Apple Watch, you're in luck.
When you're playing music on a Watch running watchOS 4 or newer, be it your iPhone or Watch, you can look at your watch to see what it is. " Now Playing". All you have to do is rotate the digital crown to raise and lower the volume.

No. 6. Take a screenshot.

All Apple watches can take screenshots when you simultaneously hold down the digital crown and the action button below it. The images are then saved in your camera frame on your iPhone. However, this value is not set by default. To enable screenshots, go to the Watch companion app, and then go to the “ General". There you can enable or disable enabling screenshots.

One of the things Apple really pushes with the Apple Watch is the bracelets. There are new bracelets coming out every couple of months with new colors to match the season and your wardrobe. That's why we recommend taking a look at what's there and taking advantage of the customization options. And if you don't want to pour cash into an Apple bank, there are always third-party options. However, be warned that they may not match.

No. 8. Unlock the watch from your iPhone.

If you didn't do this during the initial setup process, you can still unlock your Apple Watch and iPhone at the same time without taking back a passcode (if you've installed one). To do this, go to the Watch companion app, where you can enable or disable the “ Unblock from iPhone».

No. 9. Turn on heart rate notifications.

Apple takes heart health more seriously, and one of the new features - as well as heart rate - is a notification when your heart rate is higher than it should be.
You can turn it on in the heart rate section of the companion app. When you turn it on, you will be prompted to select a threshold between 100bpm and 150bpm. Your Apple Watch will only alert you when you walk past the threshold and appear to be inactive for about 10 minutes. Plus, it will look for signs that your elevated heart rate is a longer-term problem, rather than a temporary upheaval caused by something dire like a horror movie.

No. 10. Combine your workouts.

Are you an athlete? As of today, Apple Watch has let you down, but things are working out, and in watchOS 4, you can now combine workouts, which means less time rubbing those sweaty fingers around the screen. If you want to switch from one workout type to another, instead of stopping the current one, swipe right and press the + button to add a new one.

No. 11. Unlock your Mac with your watch.

If you are fully stocked with all Apple devices, you can also use your Apple Watch to skip entering the password on your Mac to gain access if you have a 2013 or newer iMac running macOS Sierra 10.12 or newer. If you want to combine the two, the first thing you need to do is make sure they are both signed into the same iCloud account. The next step is to upgrade to a Mac (make sure it's running with macOS Sierra or later) and select “ System settings", Then select" Security and privacy"And go to the" General". This is where you will be able to set up your Apple Watch to unlock your Mac. Make sure 2FA is enabled on your Mac as well (from chapter to System Preferences> iCloud> Account Information> Security).

No. 12. Joint event - call notification.

Apple's answer to Fitbit, Garmin, and the rest of the fitness tracker fraternity is the activity platform. This is where all of your daily movements are recorded. In your latest iteration, you can now share your activity with other Apple Watch users. To do this, you need to add friends to be done by going to the dedicated Activity app on your iPhone. Then you can select "Sharing" and click the " + "In the corner to add contacts.
Back on Apple Watch, go to the " Activity»And slide your finger across the screen on the right to see the activity data of your friends. You can also comment on the workouts so that they are motivated or joke about their results. Either way, this is your call.

No. 13. Turn on automatic pause when you stop driving.

As with the Samsung Gear S3, Apple also allows you to stop work tracking when interrupted or stopped at traffic lights. You can now enable auto-start in pause mode simply by heading to the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, heading to the My Watch section, and then selecting Workout. Here you can switch to "Start Auto Pause".

No. 14. Checking data usage.

If you have the Apple Watch 3 series of LTE smartwatches, you can keep track of your data usage. You never know, something will tell you about your monthly plan. Alternatively, it's just to see how little data the Apple Watch actually uses.
You will need to head to the companion app by looking in the cell menu option to see the information. However, once you do that, you will know how much data you have used in the current period and which applications are using that data.

The Apple Watch has a decent place to host apps, emails, and music. If you want to see how much storage you need, go to the Apple Watch companion app, go to the “ General"And then select" Usage". Here you will be able to get a breakdown of how many apps are taking up space on your watch.

No. 16. Change the action on the watch.

This advice came from a complaint about a golf app developer who constantly needs to reopen the app while playing.
In the Apple Watch settings menu, turn on the wrist restraint feature. Below you will find several options in the section “ Screen show"Show last app". You can show the last app while playing, for two minutes after the last use, for one hour after the last use, or always. Now, when you lift your wrist, you will see the last app you used.
You can also do this from the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. Just go to General, and then Wake screen, you will have the same options to choose from.

If you're constantly squinting on your watch wrist to read the notifications on your Apple Watch, you can resize the text to make it easier for you to see. Just go to " Settings»> « Brightness and text size”, Then adjust the text size as you like.

Starting with Series 2, the Apple Watch is waterproof and includes an ejection mode to get rid of water lurking after you go swimming. If you want to manually use this feature, swipe up from the home screen to view the Apple Watch Control Center. Find the water drop icon and click on it.
You will then be prompted to flip the digital crown over to draw out the water. It's actually a good idea to hit the droplet button before getting into the shower or pool (but don't worry if you forget) as it also locks the screen, preventing the screen from confusing water droplets with your own touches.

Apple Watch Tips and Tricks # 19. Ping iPhone will help you find your phone.

It's good that you have your Apple Watch because it can help you find your phone as a last resort. Swipe up to open the Control Center, look for the " Ping iPhone»And click to reconnect with your iPhone. If you press and hold the " Ping iPhone», Your iPhone's LED flash will flash, giving you a visual visibility of the phone in case the speaker is too muted.

Apple Watch Tips and Tricks # 20. Use images as wallpaper on the screen, looking by default.

By default, Apple Watch selects images from the " Favorites"On your iPhone, something we never thought of using before. So, go and tag some images in iOS using the heart button at the bottom.
When you use a face to view a photo album, it will randomly select photos from the folder. You can touch the display to view images. Alternatively, with watchOS 4, you can now turn those photos into trips with a kaleidoscope.
On your iPhone, you should now see the option “ Create Watch Face»In the action menu on any shot. This will allow you to stick the image onto your watch either as it is or in a kaleidoscope shape.

On September 12, at the presentation at the new headquarters of Apple Park, the company Apple introduced a new model of smart watches Apple Watch - Series 4... And we can say with confidence that this is the largest update in the four years of the existence of the Apple watch line.

Design

For the first time in three years, the design of the device has changed. Cases with heights of 38 mm and 42 mm were replaced by 40 mm and 44 mm, respectively. It would seem that only a couple of millimeters, but thanks to them, Apple engineers were able to reduce the frames and increase the working area of the watch by 30%. The new display size is used to its fullest by the fresh dials, the title one of which boasts as many as eight extensions at the same time, each of which can be customized to suit your taste.

Despite the changes in size, the watch will be compatible with all previously released bands.

Iron

The heart of Apple Watch Series 4 is the S4 chip. According to Apple, its performance is twice as high as its predecessor, which accordingly affects the launch speed and application performance. Another novelty inside the watch is an improved speaker that has become 50% louder. This is clearly done with an eye to Siri voice responses and the new "Walkie-talkie" function. In addition, the microphone has moved to the other side of the watch, which should improve call quality.

Not deprived of attention and the Digital Crown wheel. Now tactile feedback is built into it, and when the wheel rotates, it will create the feeling of light clicks.

Health

The improved gyroscope and accelerometer have learned to detect when the owner of the watch has fallen and needs help - if you do not respond to the on-screen warning within a minute, Apple Watch will call emergency services and send information to your loved ones.

However, the main new feature of the Series 4 will undoubtedly be the ability to make an ECG directly on the watch - by placing your finger on the Digital Crown and waiting for about 30 seconds, you can get an ECG record for showing to a doctor. The Apple Watch itself will also assess your heart rate and warn you if an arrhythmia is suspected.

It is worth noting that the electrocardiogram function is not mentioned on Apple's Russian website. Considering that the Apple Watch is one of the first consumer devices to receive FDA approval for this feature, we would venture to assume that other countries also require medical device approval from authorities.

Apple Watch Series 4 will go on sale in Russia on September 28, and watchOS 5 will be available on September 17. The price of the younger model will be 31,999 rubles, the big one - 33,999 rubles. Models with cellular communication in Russia are still unavailable.

Hello everybody! 🤗

Today I want to talk about my Apple Watch ⌚️ first series, which I unexpectedly received as a birthday present from my husband! To be honest, at that time these watches were not the object of my desires, I did not know anything about their functionality at all and had no idea why I needed them ...

But, as you know, they don't look a gift horse in the mouth, and if the horse is also from Apple, then it is doubly pleasant. 😋

My model is probably the most popular - a silver case with a white plastic strap. Apple Watch Sport comes in two sizes: 38mm and 42mm.

My husband ordered me 42mm, deciding that the bigger the better 😂, it's good that we got to the store where I tried on both sizes! For fragile girls and even not very fragile, the size 42 mm will be too large and ridiculous to occupy the entire upper part of the brush, so we changed the order to 38 mm (the same, but with mother-of-pearl buttons).

At our first acquaintance, the watch won me over with its high-quality and solid packaging, at first it was packed in a large cardboard box:

It contains a plastic case, and they are already in the case:

It is quite easy to connect them to the iPhone, detailed instructions appear on the watch step by step, the watch works with Iphone from 5 to the latest version.

The box also contains a charger and an extra part of a larger belt, in case you have a large brush or are a man. Very thoughtful, in my opinion!

It's no secret that the watch needs to be charged, I read here that someone charges every day ... I charge every two days! And I always have enough! I also did not notice that the phone with them sat down faster (I also read such comments). Even if I forgot to put the watch on charge in the evening, then in the morning 30-40 minutes at the base is enough to use it all day.

Point one:

In my opinion, a cute enticement for girls who are 100% girls! It's the ability to choose screens! Those. in your phone, in the clock setting, you choose at least 2, at least 3, at least 10 or 20 different screen modifications, depending on what you need and want to see on the screen at the moment (weather, time in Moscow or New York in addition to the main time in your city, the logo on the clock, chronometers, lost calories, etc.) You also choose the color of the numbers and the dial, and the screens can be changed by flipping during use. For example, my several variations on this theme:

The screen only shows the time when you are looking at it! (Reacts to the movement of the hand, probably), and when you look away, it goes out!

Item Two:

The second nice thing from the series of the first paragraph: if you choose a landscape as a screensaver (Paris, London, New York, Shanghai), then during the day the time of day in the picture also changes, that is, the sun seems to move as it does at the moment in your latitudes ... When it’s morning, on the clock, it’s morning on the picture on the clock, when it gets dark, it also gradually darkens on the clock in Paris or another selected city:

Point three:

Counting calories and steps throughout the day. You can set a goal for mobility and physical activity during the day and the clock will constantly remind you of this, and when the goal is completed, it will inform you and give you a virtual reward! My mobility goal is 200 Kcal per day, I walk with a small child and stimulate myself for long walks.

Usually I fulfill my goal, in any case, in weekly totals, the average daily rate is usually slightly exceeded.

Point four:

It is very convenient to receive SMS messages, messages in instant messengers or phone calls to your watch. Those. the phone can lie in a bag or another room and you do not need to urgently take it out or run after it.

You can answer the call by the hour! This is convenient when driving a car or when the phone is in a bag or another room! So de you can reply to the message by dictating the replied he will go in the form of text or select the option "ok", "good", one of the short answers that the watch offers.

Point five:

You can see what is around you on the map, for example, you can select "cafes" and "restaurants" and the clock will show the name and distance of the cafe near you, or you can see which stores are nearby, for this we click on the round wheel as a button and see all the applications:

We select maps and choose what we want to see:

Here I chose Food and I see food categories, if I choose stores, I can also specify the category of the store (grocery, clothing, cosmetics, etc.)

The watch can measure your heart rate, remind you of your plans for the day, remind you to stop and catch your breath, it has a breathing exercise.

You can easily change the straps on your watch! Straps are certainly not cheap! But a nice addition if there is an opportunity to purchase them! I also want a brown leather strap in addition to my white one, the clasp, by the way, the watch is very comfortable and absolutely does not deform when worn:

In my opinion, for a watch in this price category, it is not a very good sign!

Therefore, I removed one star.

How functional and necessary is this watch? Honestly, I wouldn't have bought them myself! Yes, it's convenient to answer the clock on the phone or to messages, see your physical activity during the day, change screens ... Yes, it's all nice, but for me personally, it doesn't really matter.

The watch is rather a cute toy, if this purchase is not burdensome for your wallet, then of course you can buy it, but otherwise you can easily do without them.

But as a gift I like them!

If your Apple Watch won't turn on and won't respond to button presses, try solving the problem yourself. With the instructions and the tools you need, you can quickly fix simple faults. You can find out why the device does not turn on, check the integrity of the control board and the reliability of the contacts, even without special skills.

Most of the time, Apple Watch fails for the following reasons:

  • the power button is broken
  • moisture has entered the protective case
  • clock stuck after an update or as a result of a software crash
  • due to mechanical damage, the watch display was damaged

A common reason Apple Watch won't turn on is when the battery is drained or damaged. In this case, it is necessary to recharge or replace the battery. Hold the button on the side of the device and the Digital Crown to restart the watch until the Apple icon lights up.

Why does the device not start

If your Apple Watch suddenly stops turning on, the problem might be due to a setting issue. Pay close attention to the notifications that appear on the screen of Apple technology. In them, the developers describe the problems and give options for their elimination. If your Apple Watch is out of power, you should connect it to the charger and wait for the company logo to appear.

If your Apple Watch stops turning on or responding to the charging connection, you can remedy the situation in the following ways:

  • check the depth of insertion of the cable into the socket and the adapter into the socket
  • remove the protective film from the charger
  • clean the device from dirt and dust
  • restart the device (press the side button)

How to quickly reboot an electronic device

You can also check that the charging is working properly. If the Watch icon is on, Apple should be charging automatically. Press the button on the side of the watch and press the Digital Crown to restart your Apple device and make sure your installed apps are working properly.

A common reason Apple Watch won't turn on is when Power Save Mode is running. In this case, pressing the screen will not start the clock.

What you need to know before proceeding with device recovery

To turn on your Apple Watch, press the power button, located on the right side of your device. In doing so, you will notice that the "apple" is on fire. The download duration is determined by the Apple device model and is usually about a minute.

The iWatch device belongs to the category of mini-computers, the installed applications on which must be periodically updated. Apple Watch users report that after a software update, devices start to run faster. If you want to put Apple Watch into battery saving mode, hold the button on the right side of the device until the Eco Mode slider appears.

No messages on the display

Apple Watch is unable to function after being discharged. The clock display on which notifications appear is consuming a significant amount of power. Often times, the reason for the device not showing notifications is when the clock is turned on or when Do Not Disturb is activated. You can solve the problem in the following ways:

  • remove passcode that prevents Apple Watch from turning on and the watch display is locked
  • make sure that the settings for Apple technology are correct

Easy ways to fix devices

If you want to check if the charger is working properly, try restarting your watch. To do this, hold down the Side Button and Digital Crown for 10 seconds. In the event that the charge icon is not visible, leave the Apple device plugged in to a rechargeable appliance for several hours.

Simple ways to repair smartwatches that turn off spontaneously:

  • drying devices
  • charge replacement
  • configuring the parameters of Apple technology

Difficult troubleshooting options

If your Apple Watch stops turning on and can't diagnose the problem right away, the damage could be serious. The malfunction may be associated with the failure of the button responsible for turning on the device, the malfunction of the microcircuit, or other reasons.

To determine the cause of the malfunction, you will need special equipment and tools. With their help, you can perform the following repair operations:

  • remove and replace the button responsible for turning on the Apple device
  • update the software if the clock freezes or turns off spontaneously
  • Rebuild Apple Watch Power Chip
  • replace the charger connector

Apple Watch users often experience such problems - after discharging, the watch freezes or turns off. To force a restart, press the side button and the Digital Crown at the same time. If after rebooting the watch turns on, but you do not see that the "apple" is on, or a notification with a red exclamation mark appears, this means that the device cannot be used due to a breakdown of the microcircuit or other parts.
