Meizu pro 7 water resistant. Performance and benchmarks

There is hardly a need for a company introduction, because we introduce our readers to every new smartphone of this brand. And some models get into the laboratory even before the start of official sales, for example, it was with the Meizu M3E.

Representatives of the previous generation flagship line, Meizu Pro 6 and Meizu Pro 6 Plus, enjoyed success in the market, many were waiting for their updates. And there were a lot of questions about what the new generation of Meizu Pro will be.

The veil of secrecy was removed at the presentation, which took place not only in China, but also in Russia. And after a little time, thanks to the Moscow office of Meizu, our laboratory got an exclusive opportunity to be the first to study new items. And we did not miss the opportunity to tell you about them.

Since the Meizu Pro 7 smartphone acts as the base model of the line, we will start our acquaintance with it. Next, we will evaluate the characteristics of the device, as well as pay attention to a number of distinctive features of the new product.

Characteristics of the review hero on this moment cannot be called top-end, but they are quite consistent with the title of flagship. The novelty received a fresh eight-core SoC MediaTek, good stocks of RAM and main memory, as well as a dual main camera, fully in line with current market trends.

Compared to its predecessor, we can note the use of a different hardware platform and the installation of a battery with a larger capacity. In combination with the SuperAMOLED matrix, this will have a positive effect on the level of autonomy.

Packaging and arrangement of Meizu Pro 7

In the last generation, the Pro line came in plastic boxes that everyone liked, except for the inability to close them after opening. This time, the manufacturer did not allow such an omission, and he also worked hard on the packaging concept.

As a result, we see a box made of plastic and consisting of two elements - a base made of matte plastic and a lid made of glossy. There are no complaints about the build quality.

The front side contains the manufacturer's logo and the model of the device. And an identification sticker is located on the bottom edge.

All content is collected in a common box. The device itself slides in through a special slot, and the rest of the internal space is divided by two boxes with the delivery set.

Each item is carefully wrapped and secured in place.

In the delivery set, in addition to the standard set, you can find a transparent plastic bumper cover. It fixes well on the body, protecting it from minor damage. Although, how he will behave when falling on a hard surface is difficult to say.

The package includes:

  • Power adapter;
  • Cable USB Type C;
  • Plastic bumper cover;
  • Key clip for removing the SIM card tray.

The Meizu Pro 7 box can be safely called one of the best packages I've come across. And it deserves it. High-quality and durable plastic is used here, and the design and construction are both simple and unusual at the same time. One feels that the manufacturer has worked on developing a packaging that matches the level of a smartphone.

On July 26, 2017, MEIZU introduced two new flagship devices, the MEIZU PRO 7 and MEIZU PRO 7 PLUS smartphones. New items have a unique additional touchscreen color display on the back surface, allowing you to get a new user experience from communicating with a smartphone!

See the world in a new way! Both new products from MEIZU are equipped with bright and contractual, energy-saving Super AMOLED displays: MEIZU PRO 7 has a compact 5.2 "FullHD display, and for fans of larger screens, MEIZU PRO 7 PLUS is equipped with a 5.7" display with QHD resolution (2560x1440). But that is not all!

On the back of the smartphone there is an additional touch-sensitive color AMOLED display with a diagonal of 1.9 ”and a resolution of 240x536 pixels! The second screen is useful not only for receiving notifications about calls, SMS and other events, as well as displaying information about the music played on the smartphone. Even more, when using the player, you can fully control music playback from the second screen of your smartphone, without using the main display: the application interface on the second display will resemble the good old classic mp3 players! And with the help of the color second screen, you can easily take great selfies with the main dual camera of your smartphone, and even with the blurring effect of the background!

Speaking of cameras! The MEIZU PRO 7 and MEIZU PRO 7 PLUS smartphones are equipped with a dual 12MP SONY IMX386 f / 2.0 module: one in color and the other in monochrome. The cameras are complemented by a dedicated Portrait Mode function that effectively blur the background of a photo, with ArcSoft image processing algorithms that allow you to take excellent pictures even at night. The front camera is equipped with a 16 megapixel module with an f / 2.0 aperture and will allow you to take classic selfies of the highest quality with high detail.

True music flagships MEIZU PRO 7 and MEIZU PRO 7 PLUS are equipped with an integrated Cirrus Logic CS43130 Hi-Fi chip with built-in amplifier for the most powerful and detailed sound in headphones. For headphones, traditionally, there is a classic 3.5 mm jack - you don't need any adapters, you can listen to music even while the device is charging! And you will need to charge your smartphone rarely and for a short time. MEIZU PRO 7 has a built-in 3000 mAh battery with support for fast charging (50% in 30 minutes), and MEIZU PRO 7 PLUS has an even larger battery with support for 3500 mAh fast charging!

Both smartphones support all popular communication standards, including LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS / GLONASS, have a slot for 2 nanoSIM cards.

MEIZU PRO 7 is equipped with 4 GB of fast random access memory DDR4X and 64 GB of internal memory of the UFS 2.1 standard, runs on a 64-bit 8-core Mediatek Helio P25 processor with a clock speed of up to 2.6 GHz, with a Mali T880 graphics core (1 GHz).

MEIZU PRO 7 PLUS is equipped with 6 GB of fast DDR4X RAM, 64 GB or 128 GB of built-in memory of UFS 2.1 standard, is powered by a 64-bit 10-core Mediatek Helio X30 processor, made using 10 nm technology, with a clock speed of up to 2.5 GHz, with graphics core IMG PowerVR 7XTP-MT4 (800 MHz).

Traditionally, both smartphones are equipped with a unique multifunctional touch-mechanical control button mTouch with a built-in very fast fingerprint scanner. So, touching the button works as a "back" action, pressing the button will return you to the home screen, and holding the button for a long time will turn off the smartphone screen.

The proprietary FLYME shell, which is an integral part of MEIZU smartphones and runs on Android 7, has a beautiful, simple and functional interface that will help a new, unprepared user easily get used to a smartphone and fine-tune the system for an experienced owner. FLYME allows with high quality write down telephone conversations, has a built-in antivirus and a functional memory manager, gives you the ability to control gestures, has a built-in store with a variety of themes for your desktop. FLYME allows you to block access not only when you turn on your smartphone, but also restrict the launch of any application using a fingerprint or digital code. There are special guest modes and an operating mode for children. With FLYME, using the MEIZU smartphone becomes simple and convenient.

The new PRO line smartphones from MEIZU bring a new user experience to their future owners, remaining truly musical flagships with powerful stuffing and a recognizable design that is loved by tens of millions of people around the world. New items will go on sale in Russia in early autumn, the price of smartphones in Russia will be announced a little later, with the start of pre-orders.

It's easy to imagine a flagship smartphone in 2017: Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, Quad HD display with the most likely aspect ratio of 2: 1, dual camera, a lot of glass and a little less metal. Small variations are possible, such as processors of our own production (Samsung and Huawei) and "usual" display formats (Nokia, Xiaomi, Sony, the same Huawei). But to release something really out of this range - almost no one has the courage to do it (well, the desire, of course). "Almost" - because there is Meizu, which traditionally does not go well with Qualcomm - you have to buy platforms from Mediatek or Samsung, and suddenly a fantasy woke up, and instead of another inspired iPhone Smartphone with some nuances, we got devices with two screens! Moreover, the second display is located not on the front panel, like in LG V10 / V20, but on the back, in the manner of the unforgettable Yotaphone.

Another specific point of the Pro 7 / Pro 7 Plus is the significant differences between the devices. Not only in terms of the display, but also in terms of the filling. The overall concept is identical: two AMOLED displays, exactly the same dual cameras, a single navigation key with a fingerprint scanner on the front (brand name) and a single design. However, the platforms are different: the Mediatek P25 in the Pro 7 and the flagship Mediatek X30 in the Pro 7 Plus. I tested both phones, but with more emphasis on the more compact and inexpensive Pro 7, which, in my opinion, has a better chance of winning over its audience.

Design, ergonomics and software

The statement that Meizu smartphones acquired some kind of corporate identity, it would be too bold, and simply wrong. But who has it today - so that it is one hundred percent recognizable? Sony, Samsung ... Perhaps that's all. Even Apple with the relatively faceless iPhone 6/7/8 and the outwardly distinct X in this regard is not an example. But there is no point in talking about some kind of copying, as many are accustomed to when it comes to Chinese devices. Meizu Pro 7 (I will not mention the version, speaking at once about two smartphones) with typical body contours, small frames around the screen of a standard format and plastic panels on a metal back cover does not stand out much against the general background. But the screen on the back, of course, makes a great difference.

It is located directly under the dual-lens unit of the main camera, on the left side of the smartphone and paradoxically helps the gadget in an ergonomic sense: the glass creates additional grip on the back surface, it is more comfortable to hold the Pro 7 in your hand than devices with an all-metal body.

The front panel is covered with glass - and, unlike the Pro 6 Plus, it has an excellent oleophobic coating: you won't have to walk around with a "patched" Pro 7, prints are rubbed off very easily.

In terms of dimensions, everything is quite obvious: the 5.2-inch Pro 7 is great for one-handed operation, the 5.7-inch Pro 7 Plus is a much more bulky thing, and both smartphones do not set bezel-less records. Nevertheless, these are really thin gadgets (7.3 mm), they fit into the pocket without the slightest problem. They also weigh within the normal range - 163 and 170 grams, respectively.

Management of Meizu smartphones is an eternal topic for any material about devices of this brand. The fact is that there are no buttons for returning and opening all current applications - neither touch buttons on the body, nor virtual ones on the screen. A single Home key is responsible for returning and locking, which, in addition, has a built-in fingerprint scanner, and the list of applications opens with a gesture from the bottom up the screen. Earlier it was customary to blame Meizu for such an unconventional approach to the creation of Android smartphones. The irony is that the company has followers along this path - for example, Motorola.

Meizu Pro 7, left side edge: slot for two SIM-cards

Meizu Pro 7, right side edge: power and volume keys

Be that as it may, it is not difficult to get used to this manner of operating the device - it takes me about two or three days, after which returning to the standard scheme already causes some difficulties.

Otherwise, everything is as usual - the mechanical power and volume buttons on the right side, and the latter can be used as a camera shutter button.

The second screen does not participate in management - it has its own specific functions. First, it displays various information: the number of steps taken per day, weather, time. Secondly, notifications about calls, messages "arrive" here, and the status is also displayed here (charging, playing music). Thirdly - and this is the most intriguing application of the additional display - it can be used as a viewfinder for the camera, thereby taking a selfie on the main, not on the front, module. Why, in such conditions, there is a front camera installed here (and quite impressive), I, frankly, did not understand.

The screen is activated by double touching. On the test smartphones, however, pre-production firmware was installed - and the display worked intermittently. But even without these interruptions, it is obvious that, despite the energy savings, the scheme with duplicate notifications on the second screen is in no way superior to the Always-On Display technology, which most competitors have. But self-portraits on the main camera are a really interesting option.

The fingerprint scanner built into the Home key is typical for modern smartphone, capacitive. It works very quickly, and I had no complaints about its accuracy. It so happened that the device stayed with me for testing for almost a month, and during this time I did not rewrite the print even once.

Meizu sсreenshots

Works Meizu Pro 7 under Android 7.0 Nougat with Flyme shell of the sixth version. There are no cardinal differences from here - a fast shell devoid of an application menu and not having fun with icons. Questions are more likely to the firmware: I dare to hope that in the final version they will nevertheless appear Google services- in the test Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus, I had to install Google Play manually. There were also many complaints about the stability and performance of individual applications. I simply cannot assess this area (the most important, I do not argue) of smartphone operation.

But we can say that the announced OneMind technology, which should optimize the operation of the smartphone, promptly discarding idle processes from memory and at the same time not touching the important ones for the user, is working successfully. The smartphone regularly freed up several gigabytes of memory in the background.

Display and sound

Meizu wants to give out a medal "for loyalty to AMOLED" - the company used OLED displays back when it was not fashionable (this is what Samsung was doing at that time), but now, with iPhone release X, the situation will of course change. Be that as it may, both Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus have AMOLED screens that differ in diagonal and resolution: 5.2 inches and 1920 × 1080 pixels (423 ppi) in the younger version; 5.7 inches and 2560 × 1440 pixels (518 ppi) in the older one. On the Plus, the screen moved directly from the Pro 6 Plus - it had exactly the same characteristics. But this time, finally, everything is in order with the settings, and not just with the matrices themselves.

Both screens are distinguished by the widest viewing angles - with extreme deviation of the gaze from the perpendicular, the contrast almost does not drop, and the colors are slightly distorted. The polarizing layer is in place, there is no interlayer between the matrix and the glass - this, together with the conventionally infinite contrast of the screen, allows you to use smartphones on the street without the slightest discomfort.

The brightness level of the panels of smartphones is not very high. The Pro 7 has 328 cd / m2. Still, you shouldn't look at full-color pictures under the midday sun - the image fades noticeably, even if it remains easy to read. But the Pro 7 Plus does not even have such a problem - the maximum luminosity of the white field is 426 cd / m2. An indicator that is well known from the already mentioned Pro 6 Plus.

Review of Meizu Pro 7 - a smartphone with two screens [What is the feature, and do you need it]

The first feature that comes to mind when considering the Meizu Pro 7 is that it has two screens. Indeed, this is its main feature.

The development of the second screen was carried out by specialists together with MediaTek.

They also worked on the creation of many other components of the device.

As for the rest of the characteristics, the device is quite consistent with its price category. Let's dwell on them in more detail.

As you can see, the characteristics are quite good and the device looks good. It is especially pleasant that the developers decided to make both screens of the type, and even the main one is SuperAMOLED. This is an extremely nice feature for modern technology lovers.

Unpacking and packaging

The smartphone comes in a regular box made of cardboard. The situation is the same with other modern phones, so you shouldn't be surprised.

In any case, the equipment inside will not be damaged.

Along with the smartphone, the box contains a special case that is attached to the back of the device. It protects it from damage.

Most of all, you need to protect the second screen, which is located at the back, under the cameras.

This cover also protects the sidewalls of the device and its front screen. This is possible due to the fact that it protrudes outside the device itself.

Therefore, if the phone falls directly onto the screen, it will hit the edges of the case. However, if you drop the device at an angle, the cover will hardly help.

Also included is an instruction manual, Charger(and a plug for the socket) and a clip for SIM card slots. The latter is rather weak and can break easily. By themselves, such designs (connectors that are removed with paper clips) do not inspire confidence, but in this case, the paper clip is also bad. However, this is a small drawback. The rest of the equipment is quite normal. The box contains everything you need to work.

Design

In the CIS market, you can buy black, red and gold Meizu Pro 7. They all look good enough.

The surface is matte and very pleasant to the touch.

The designers did their best and made a really neat and beautiful smartphone. All elements are in place.

Ahead is an absolutely standard modern phone from the Meizu company. Below the screen we can see the Home button, and above the speaker and front camera... The mechanical button has three functions at once. It is the "Back" button, and if you hold it for a long time, it locks or unlocks the screen. It is also located on it. By the way, he is quite responsive and of high quality. There is not much sense in stopping at the frontal part.

It is very important that this device has an aluminum case with plastic inserts.

The metal is very pleasant to the touch, as mentioned above.

True, for some, the gadget slips and falls out of the hand. Perhaps that is why there is a special case in the kit.

On the sides and at the top, at the bottom, all the elements are also quite standard. Particular attention should be paid to the back of the device. And there he has that very second screen, which displays a variety of information and you can play games. In this case, nothing will be displayed on the main screen. Above it is a dual camera and flash. The manufacturer's logo also looks very nice.

Screen

The screen is very nice. Still, Super AMOLED subjectively can outperform any IPS.

Although in tests, we unexpectedly get a different result.

The color quality of the screen of the gadget in question is lower than that of some.

At the same time, the contrast is maximum, and the black color is deep.

There are also problems with the transmission of white. It gives off a slightly greenish tint.

For an ordinary user, this will not be noticeable and significant. The geeks will dig in. The maximum brightness is 327 cd / m2.

As for the second screen, it also has an AMOLED type matrix, and the resolution is 536x240. It displays notifications, time and other information. It can also be used during camera startup. In fact, this is how the main camera can become. Whatever one may say, but the solution is quite interesting and unusual.

The second screen is closed with durable glass. This is quite a nice feature that pleases the eye too.

In the settings, this display can simply be turned off or you can give it certain functions and powers.

It can be activated by double tapping. Again, this feature can be disabled or changed in the settings.

As mentioned above, both screens will not work at the same time. The only way to get around this prohibition is to launch a special photography mode. Rotate the device while using the camera big screen down so that you can see the time or notifications on the second screen. It's possible that the smaller display will have more features in the future.

Performance

The most common version of the model in question comes with a MediaTek Helio P25 processor. It has 8 Cortex-A53 cores with a maximum frequency of 2.6 GHz.

But only 4 of them work at this level. Initially, 4 cores work with a frequency of 1.6 GHz.

In this case, the GPU is Mali-T880.

In terms of power, it can be compared with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 and the Mali-T880 will even be the winner in such a battle.

The standard version has 4 GB of RAM... All this together allows the smartphone to earn as much as 65127 points in. Today this is an excellent indicator. Table 2 shows the test results in other benchmarks.

The indicators are very impressive! But given the cost of the product, they seem quite logical.

An improved version of the product can be found in the Chinese markets. It has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of its own. The processor is there MediaTek X30. If you find one in domestic stores, we do not recommend buying it. Most likely it is a fake. Unless you contact the official Meizu representative.

Memory

Own memory in the standard version is 64 GB. Of course, not all of them are available to the user.

About 5-10 GB are usually reserved for needs operating system... This is enough to store basic information.

But over time for photos and videos will have to use.

The slot for a memory card is not provided in this device. This is, of course, a disadvantage, and a very significant one.

Battery

The average operating time of this gadget is 11-12 hours. This refers to the active use mode.

That is, at the same time, the user constantly talks on the phone, sometimes plays, often goes to the Internet, and also uses navigation.

If there are about 20 minutes of talk time, literally 15 minutes of games and constant surfing on the Internet, the device can work easily for 1.5-2 days. Today this is a very good indicator.

Interestingly, the battery is only 3000 mAh. For such a processor power, this may not seem enough. But in practice, it turns out that everything is completely different.

The smartphone supports the fast charging function.

But even without it, it completely calmly fully charges in just 1.5 hours.

Again, this is a really cool figure to date.

Camera

The camera here is quite good - this is worth mentioning right away. As with many, the main camera here is double.

One lens is color, the other is monochrome.

The aperture value is f / 2.0. Not bad in terms of characteristics. What can we tell us about the quality of the images?

It's also pretty good. True, the picture turns out to be somewhat dull. But this is only noticeable to those who understand photography. To an ordinary user, it will seem good enough. But this is if you do not shoot the landscape. If you decide to take a photo outdoors, you will immediately see that the colors are a little gray and unnatural. If you shoot water, then the photo generally resembles what we get the owners of Polaroid cameras. Here are some pictures for you to see for yourself.

Not to say that the camera is completely bad, but I would still like to see better quality pictures.

As for the second sensor, it turns on when the user enters black and white photography mode.

The quality of the obtained photos does not differ in any way from those taken with a camera with one sensor and the corresponding mode turned on. It turns out that there is no special sense in the presence of a double sensor.

The front camera has 16 megapixels. But the quality is even worse than that of the main one. The video for both cameras is also dim and not very high quality. Here is an example of a video shot with the main dual sensor. Do not think that it was made in the gray autumn when there is no sun. It was made on an ordinary sunny day. The same is true for the photo.

Interface

Like other representatives of this company, Pro 7 runs on the Flyme OS shell.

It is, frankly, an amateur and many users immediately after purchase decide to change it to something more familiar.

The interface looks a little cartoonish, but nice. The appearance is not bad and even pleasing to the eye.

Concerning technical characteristics, then such an interface is very responsive, the animation is fast. Thanks to this, it seems that the device is working faster than it actually is. Nothing freezes, does not crash. Games start up pretty fast too. At the same time, even in the most demanding of them, the smartphone does not heat up too much. Therefore, you can play as much as you like.

Of course, not everyone will like such a minimalist interface, but no one will argue that Flyme OS has a wider range of settings.

Here you can really do everything the way the user wants. This applies to control gestures, splash screens, the appearance of elements, and more.

Price

Advantages and disadvantages

  • effective design - all the elements are in place, everything looks very beautiful;
  • an additional case in the kit, which prevents the smartphone from slipping out of hands and protects it from damage;
  • aluminum sturdy body;
  • there is a second screen on the back cover, it is quite useful and multifunctional, although some will still consider it unnecessary and will be partly right;
  • high performance, which is achieved through the use of a good processor and 4 GB of RAM;
  • high autonomy and fast charging - the phone can be safely used for 1-2 days, and it will be charged in 1.5 hours.
  • there is no slot for a memory card, which over time will force the user to resort to using cloud storage;
  • the case will be too slippery for some users;
  • As you can see, this device has both negative and positive reviews.

    Basically, users really like the look and performance of such a phone.

    Therefore, lovers of modern technology should try to use it.

    conclusions

    We managed to find out that the Meizu Pro 7 is a really good smartphone that looks very cool.

    Its main feature is the presence of two screens, one of which is located on the back and displays notifications and a clock.

    He has a fairly high performance and battery life. Therefore, all heavy games and programs on it will run perfectly smoothly.

    There are also disadvantages. First of all, it is a camera. The images come out dull and unnatural, sometimes even blurry. Perhaps, with the next firmware versions, everything will be corrected. Users really hope so. But one unpleasant moment associated with the camera will still remain. The second lens is completely useless. It takes black and white photos, but the same can be done using the corresponding mode on a single sensor camera.

At the end of July, that is, more recently, Meizu introduced its flagship Smartphone Pro 7, you can already make a small overview. Rumors about new items have been circulating for months, and almost all the characteristics were known back in June. The highlight of the Meizu Pro 7, which many sellers are already offering on Aliexpress, is an additional display located on the back. Paired cameras also tried to attract attention - the debut of Meizu smartphones. But the rest of the characteristics, information about which from time to time appeared on the Internet, did not arouse much interest among users. What has changed after the official presentation of Meizu Pro 7, the release date in the world and in Russia and the price - read our review.

Contents of delivery

Although we wanted to make a short review of the Meizu Pro 7, it is simply impossible not to mention the packaging. Meizu can be blamed for using processors that are already boring, but the company knows a lot about how to effectively present the product. This time we have not a rectangular box, as was the case with the Pro 6, but a more familiar shape. However, instead of ordinary cardboard, Meizu uses plastic. When you see the box, which has got sloping edges, and the front glossy part is decorated with the number "7", you understand that you have a really expensive device in front of you, which is probably trying to be one step ahead of the market. It looks really unusual and cool.

But take your time, even the smartphone itself is not just thrown into the box, but neatly stowed in a special compartment of a bizarre look. Inside, by the way, another box awaits us, but already made of cardboard. Nearby we see a branded paper clip for removing the tray, and in the main compartment - a power adapter, a charging wire, documents and a branded case.

Meizu managed to deliver Pro 7 effectively, but will the company keep the bar?

Appearance

Continuing the review of Meizu Pro 7, let's move on to the design. In general, they have always sympathized with Meizu smartphones with their own appearance... It seems like nothing special, other companies have already shown something similar, but at the same time I am ready to forgive weak hardware and imperfect cameras - and all for the sake of this neat design. In Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus, it does not show anything out of the ordinary, but something that we have not seen before. Before us is Meizu, similar to other smartphones of the company, and, of course, the latest iPhone. We have the same sloping edges, rounded corners that shine in the light. Rear screen? Well, he alone makes the Meizu Pro 7 stand out in the market. But he didn't embellish the smartphone. Of course, there is no dispute about tastes, but it does not add attractiveness. And it is located in a strange way.

The main body material is metal, which further emphasizes the presence of an additional display. Bottom and top are barely noticeable (at least on black meizu Pro 7) plastic inserts for antennas. The front side is covered with a curved protective glass... Here, in front, we see the familiar mTouch button. Here Meizu has stability, which pleases. It also performs the tasks of a fingerprint scanner and questions, in principle, neither to the speed of work, nor to the accuracy, no. At the top, the speaker slot is habitually located, and the peephole of the front camera is also visible.

According to the classics, the power button for a pair with a volume control swing is located on the right. On the left we see a small hole, which is used to remove the tray for the SIM-card. The tray is not hybrid, that is, you can only install a couple of nano-format SIM cards - you won't be able to install a memory card. On the one hand, it's bad, on the other, there should be enough memory capacity like that of the Meizu Pro 7. Only a microphone settled on top. The bottom end is USB port Type-C, surrounded by two cogs. Immediately we find another microphone, a 3.5 mm jack on one side and the main speaker grill on the other. The back, which has probably already been seen by everyone, is represented by another display, just above which there is a dual camera, as well as the company logo, located atypically - vertically, on the edge.

Can't find information on the waterproofing of Meizu Pro 7? So, it is understandable - how can you generally find information about what is not? Sad Meizu. We have collected hundreds of bloggers for the presentation of Meizu Pro 7, as if you are really showing something super top-end, and you have missed one or two flagship features. Maybe every user does not need this moisture protection, but A-brands present it by inertia.

In general, the design is good. Well, in no way he pulls for something more. Meizu Pro 7 is not frameless, not record-breaking thin, it is presented with the usual body materials. The dual camera no longer surprises anyone, and the additional display does not pull on a design feature.

Screen

From Meizu cases Pro 7 with smooth edges smoothly transition to the screen overview. This year "Meizu" releases two flagship smartphone with different screen diagonals. The more compact Meizu Pro 7 received, as it seems to us, the optimal 5.2 inches to date. The standard resolution for this class is FullHD, which provides 423 dpi. A Super AMOLED matrix is used, a high-quality and pleasant matrix. In general, we have before us a good screen with rich colors, which can be easily compared with the displays of the flagships of other A-brands.

The older Meizu Pro 7 Plus is represented by a 5.7-inch screen made using the same Super AMOLED technology, but with an increased resolution up to 2560x1440 pixels. The declared characteristics give out an impressive 518 dpi. Understandably, mapping to high level, has a clear and bright picture that may seem too cold. Don't worry, though - in the settings, you can set the display temperature to your liking.

The screens have wide viewing angles, which is not surprising, remembering the segment. Covered with slightly curved glass with a good oleophobic layer. The touch quickly reacts to touches, and in general it is pleasant to use them.

Additional screen

What smartphones have recently been able to attract a user with their screens is this. Yes, the Meizu Pro 7 has a good display, but do we really care about it? The additional screen located on the back of the smartphone looks much more interesting. What did he forget there? As planned by the manufacturer Meizu Pro 7 through it, the user will receive notifications about missed messages, calls and other notifications. Also, this miracle should help selfie lovers to take self-portraits on the main camera (the front 16-megapixel is not enough).

In terms of specifications, it uses a 1.9-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 240 x 536 pixels. In terms of quality, there are no problems.

Someone will remember LG V10, someone will come to mind YotaPhone - all of them are united by the presence of an additional screen. But even in Yotafon, unloved by many, the additional display looks more organic. In the LG V10, we saw a strip above the screen. Meizu took a middle path, making the screen larger than the V10, but smaller than the YotaPhone. On the one hand - OK, it will come in handy (look at the time, weather, see how many steps). On the other hand, we constantly twist the smartphone to see what someone wrote, then we do another somersault to read the message itself. Well, such a thing. In LG V10, such tricks were not needed - everything was in front of my eyes, in Yotafon the screen was much more functional.

In general, while the additional display Meizu Pro 7 looks like an experimental attempt by the company. How useful it will be, whether the manufacturer will further develop this idea, we have to find out in the near future.

Performance

Each review of Meizu smartphones will show you that hardware is often the main drawback. Neither budget solutions, nor the middle segment, nor the flagship class can boast of a chip that would be able to satisfy the demands of the vast majority of users. There should be a reference to, which from small to large are equipped with quite suitable chips from Qualcomm. Nice design is good, but I also want to play games without lags.

So, what do we have in Meizu Pro 7? Pro 7, in terms of hardware, is presented in two versions - on MediaTek Helio P25 and Helio X30. In the first case, we have, in fact, an average chip, which is presented in the same for 10,000 rubles. This is an 8-core solution built on a 16nm process technology. The processor was presented quite recently, operates at a frequency of up to 2.5 GHz, and the Mali T880 MP2 core is responsible for the graphics capabilities. To help the chip, they gave 4 gigabytes of RAM (already Chinese budget segment pulls up to this volume, so it's not surprising). The drive of the younger version is presented at 64 gigabytes.

Meizu Pro 7 in AnTuTu is gaining about 65,000 points. In general, there was a flagship and everything came out.

The older version of Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus with a larger screen are presented on a more efficient MediaTek Helio X30 chip. This is the company's latest 10-core processor based on a 10nm technical processor. It has all the same clock speed of 2.5 GHz, but the PowerVR 7400XT MP4 is responsible for the graphics. The chipset is more powerful, but its top-end language does not dare to call it. Naturally, Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus are inferior to the flagships of 2017 only in tests - for everyday tasks and modern games, performance is enough. 6 GB of RAM are responsible for multitasking, 128 GB are allocated for user files.

In AnTuTu, Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus on MediaTek Helio X30 roughly compared with similar smartphones on Snapdragon 821 - around 160,000 points.

Communication, interfaces, navigation

In terms of communication, everything is typical: there is support for all necessary networks including LTE. No wonder. Everything is typical with interfaces, and that's why Meizu Pro 7 gets bad. Not only is the outdated Bluetooth 4.2 announced, but there is also no NFC. Meizu, what year is it? Even ultra-budget devices have begun to acquire an interface, not to mention the flagships. The lack of NFC is really surprising given that you expect it by default on such an expensive smartphone. Well, at least not microUSB (equipped with Meizu Pro 7 USB Type-C 3.1) and thank you for that. Well, Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n, operating in two bands: 2.4 and 5 GHz. GPS and GLONASS systems are used for navigation - again, nothing new.

Operating system

Another thing that made Meizu Pro 7 smartphones fall in love with users is the Flyme proprietary shell. It is notable for its convenience, simplicity and the absence of unnecessary functions that would clutter up the interface. Meizu Pro 7 is presented on Flyme 6, which is based on the latest Android Nougat. Everything, in principle, is familiar, with the exception of some moments. One notable innovation is the music player mode. With its help, it will be possible to transfer the Meizu Pro 7 to a kind of MP3-player state, in which unnecessary applications become inactive. It will be possible, because the company has not yet "finished" the function, so the system message politely forgive us to wait a bit. We think that there will be no serious problems with the Meizu Pro 7 firmware, you just need to wait a little while the company brings everything to mind.

Cameras

Meizu Pro 7, which, in fact, is devoted to the review, became the company's debut smartphone equipped with a dual main camera. It is located right above the additional screen, it all looks not very symmetrical (perhaps because they are already accustomed to the location of the camera in the corner or in the center). According to the manufacturer, the sensors are provided by Sony (IMX386), which supplies more than a dozen companies. Both modules are 12 megapixels: one is color, the other is black and white. Aperture - F / 2.0. The camera received a digital zoom and a dual LED flash. He knows how to record video in 4K resolution, although this will not surprise anyone. At the first review of the Meizu Pro 7, the cameras can be characterized positively. Yes, they did not jump in the quality of shooting other flagships of this year, but you can get a good photo on a smartphone both during the day and at night. Perhaps the quality will grow a little more after the firmware updates.

But selfie lovers will rather pay attention to the front camera, which is represented by a 16-megapixel matrix. Strong statement on paper to be verified.

Autonomy

Like 99% of flagships, Meizu Pro 7 comes with relatively small batteries. The younger version of the Pro 7 got 3000 mAh, the Pro 7 Plus got a more capacious 3500 mAh battery. It is clear that you cannot count on more than a day of active use, despite AMOLED and relatively energy efficient processors. Therefore, for those who like to watch videos on YouTube or play, it is advisable to have a Power Bank at hand. But there is support for fast charging mCharge 4.0 ( battery Meizu Pro 7 is half full in half an hour). No matter how much we would like, but autonomy cannot be attributed to the merits.

Meizu Pro 7 price, where to buy, release date

Meizu Pro 7 is already available for order in many online stores, the price starts at 30,000 rubles. The official release date of the smartphone in Russia is scheduled for early autumn. It is expected that the cost for the younger version will be around 27,000 rubles, the Pro 7 with 128 GB of memory will cost a little more than 30,000 rubles, and for the Pro 7 Plus version you will have to pay around 36,000 rubles.

Conclusion

Well, let's summarize under our Meizu Pro 7 review, which was not planned to be so big. Is the Meizu Pro 7 flagship? Yes, the flagship of the company, but clearly not the market. In number Samsung Galaxy S8, LG G6 and other recent top-level smartphones do not want to put it. Everyone tried to surprise us: someone with an unusual aspect ratio, others with cameras, and still others with performance. The Meizu Pro 7's only trump card up its sleeve was an additional screen, which, at least for now, looks like a dual camera in a $ 50 smartphone. An important point remains Meizu price Pro 7, which is a bit tall, hopefully the situation will change. More flagship looks like Meizu Pro 7 Plus, which has the last processor in the line, and the screen is more interesting. However, it will also be hard for him to compete with top-level representatives from other companies.

The new Meizu Pro 7 looks like a transitional product stuck between the mid-range and flagship class. It seems that there is everything, both beautiful and productive for everyday work, but there are many nuances that negate the chances of a smartphone becoming a bestseller.
