When using an Ethernet connection, a Wi-Fi router acts as a modem and the wire can be connected directly to it. It differs from the usual wireless one in that there is a separate connector for a telephone cable on the back panel.

An ADSL router receives data via a telephone line and can immediately transmit it via Wi-Fi, cable, or by combining the two. You can connect a router of this type in the same way as a normal one, having previously connected to it telephone line and after pairing with a computer for further fine-tuning.

Go to TCP / IP configuration and set the required IP address and subnet mask values. You can get them from your ISP or try the default settings listed in the user manual. Set the same values ​​for the IP address and subnet mask on your computer. Minimize the browser window, go to "Control Panel", then to "Network Connections", run required settings through the Properties menu of the current network connection. To test the connection, enter in command line Windows PING and the set IP address, then press Enter.
