I offer a ready-made solution for sending messages from the site... Any user can easily send a letter from any page of your site by calling the POP window using the posted link or through the menu. CAPTCHA is provided to protect against spam.

To install the mail script, you need to perform only three steps:
1. Indicate the address of your mailbox in config.php file
2. Upload the folder with the script to the hosting server.
3. Place on the site (in the menu) links to call the feedback form.
Hosting system requirements: PHP 4.0.6 and higher, GB library for captcha (on almost all hosting).

Installation completed.

Now the feedback form is located at: http: //WASHSITE.ru/feedback/
It can be called using the pop-up POP window script. To do this, use ready code in the attached HTML file of the link.html page.

Of course, it is easier to buy a ready-made website based on a CMS, say: Wordpress, Drupal or 1c-Bitrix, where systems for sending messages and letters from the site are already built-in. But for those webmasters who are not looking for easy ways in web-building, a script of a feedback mail connection from their site, built on html files, may be useful.

Design
The proposed feedback form is convenient because it can be incorporated into any site design without changing the page structure. The script files are in a separate folder and do not litter the site structure.

Spam protection
When sending letters from the site, the security code CAPTCHA is provided, which will warn the intentions of intruders.
Captcha design can be configured in the kcaptcha_config.php file

In the archive there are 2 options for sending letters from the site.
The second option feedback2 - provides for the receipt of a duplicate letter by the sender. Those. the website visitor who sent the message will receive a copy of it to his (specified) email.
Be careful when installing feedback2: your site can be used by ill-wishers to send letters on your behalf.

1. In the feedback \ config.php file, on the 2nd line, replace [email protected] with the address of your email address to which you would like to receive emails.

2. Upload the entire feedback folder to the site. The name can be changed.

Now the mail is installed and you can send letters from the site using the address:
http: //YOURSITE.ru/feedback/index.php or http: //YOURSITE.ru/feedback/
depending on where the flooded folder is.
It can be placed in any directory, as long as the form call link leads to the index.php file or the feedback folder. Depends on the directives of the .htaccess file, if it exists.

You can test the work of the form right from your computer by changing the address in the link.html file and launching it in your browser.

3. In the file link.html(outside the feedback folder) there is a ready-made link and a script for calling the POP window. They are highlighted with comments.
- Insert the script between the tags head on the page from which the feedback form will be called.
- In the link, replace the address with the one where the downloaded folder is located feedback on the hosting.
If necessary, specify the path to the file http: // ?????? / feedback / index.php.
The edited link can be placed anywhere on the site, on any page.

Sophistication

You can change the design of the feedback window in the style.css and feedback / index.php files.
You can change the error messages when sending emails in the feedback \ config.php file

If you want to unsubscribe from the POP window, then the feedback form can be inserted at separate page site.
To do this, copy the content between the comments in the feedback / index.php file:

In this case, you may have to abandon the table, div table parameters or change them. And also work with the parameters in the style.css file and the paths for its registration. But there will be no need for paragraph 3.

But still, for some very infrequent tasks, the transition to the cloud will not work, and in SquirrelMail - a miserable, terrible interface (greetings from the 90s), although if you rarely go into it or not go there at all, it will do. Recently for one of our projects arose interesting idea, but its implementation required server client... The standard one definitely did not fit and I started looking for something cute, such that I would not be ashamed to show people. Several search criteria were formed - usability, beautiful and modern design, it had to be written in php... As a result, a folder with bookmarks was formed, in which there was a total of 5 best server-side webmail clients... There was a lot of nondescript, ugly "trash" (it is not clear why create terrible clones of each other?), But still, in the end, only a small part remained that can be shown to the public.
On this moment so far, the idea has remained one idea, but the selection has been collected and is presented below. I want to say right away, not one E-mail client we did not install it on the server. All comments and opinions to them are based on the general impressions of the demo pages and descriptions of the script authors themselves. If you have experience with at least one webmail client, write it in the comments to this article. Me and all blog readers will be very grateful.

Roundcube

Roundcube- this is the most popular and well-established among users server webmail client... It has support for plugins and. I cannot say that it is very beautiful, but it is certainly much better than the standard one. Considering that it has support for third-party themes, I think you can design, draw and then make up something worthwhile, but how much time and effort will it take? As I became familiar with the system, I came across a good one. Perhaps you can find both worthwhile themes and the necessary plugins on it.
It has many advantages - Roundcube works on PHP +, which contributes to fast work with mail. Also, for this E-mail client, many (very many) plugins have been written that can significantly expand the functionality. At the moment it has been translated into more than 70 languages, including Russian.
I never found a demo on the official site, only screenshots, but the installed working demo version was found on the site with the plugins mentioned above.
Despite the many advantages, Roundcube did not hook me. Move on.

After logic WebMail Lite

Simple yet modern and comfortable server e-mail client written in php in conjunction with and... Quite fast and nice on appearance. Workspace divided into three columns, as in all modern e-mail clients.
After logic WebMail is provided in two editions: After logic WebMail Lite and After logic WebMail Pro. The Pro version has a number of additional perks, such as: Linux and ASP.net packages, mobile version, many different tools for the developer, etc. Lite version has significantly fewer functions, but not everyone will need them. The free package will be enough for most.
The free version has several configurations - this is the basic configuration and the pa that were configured under various panels hosting management such as: Plesk Panel, cPanel and DirectAdmin. It is a pity that there is no configuration for the ISP manager.
Considering that the version is free, it has several interesting features, such as: connection Google drive and Dropbox to the user's account. There is also Russian, which is a huge plus.
In general, I liked the system very much and it is likely that we will take it for our project.

Rainloop webmail

Rainloop- the leader of my preferences. My subjective opinion - Rainloop the most beautiful, convenient and fastest server webmail client from this list.
The design is very similar to Rambler mail. I have not compared the code, but perhaps Rambler is using it. Besides that e-mail client beautiful, it is still very well designed, fast, has a number of themes, translated into Russian (and even into Ukrainian) and has integration with social networks. For Rainloop, several plugins have been developed for popular CMS (they promise to finish writing for Wordpress soon), which can be found at. After watching the demo, you can confidently say "This is the kind of e-mail client I want for myself."
Despite all the indisputable advantages, there is one drawback. For your personal projects, Rainloop is free to use, but if you plan to use the system for commercial purposes, you will. Also free version has a number of limitations.

Vteddy

Vteddy- not very nice, but absolutely free server e-mail client on php.
I was interested in it because of a number of interesting functions that are built into the system. Vteddy is positioned as a corporate webmail for business. Based on this, this e-mail client contains plugins that make life easier for managers. For example:
Shared calendars. By using of this module you can create a shared calendar that other people in your company can access.
Module "Organizations" is a built-in full-fledged CRM system. In it, you can maintain a customer base, create deals with statuses, keep a history of work with a client. The module is tightly integrated with the calendar.
Module "Products" is a list of the names of goods sold by the company. The module is closely related to the "Organizations" module.
Shared disk module with files allows you to make a shared storage of files on the server. Files can be attached to deals and organizations.
In addition to all this, the system has a business chat and a powerful reporting module with graphs and various diagrams.
In fact, Vteddy is a full-fledged crm system, similar to Bitrix 24 or the entire set of Google App (judging by the description).

Horde

And finally, for completeness of the topic, I want to offer another popular, but not beautiful, bulky imap client... This is not a completely clean webmail system. Horde is more like the previous Vteddy - an office harvester.

Conclusion

Today there are many server e-mail clients, but only a few deserve attention. Plus, systems that look decent are paid. I am glad that in addition to paid packages, there are also free ones, albeit with reduced functions, but most of this should be enough.
For our project, if it is of course ever implemented, we will choose either After logic WebMail Lite or Rainloop, since they are the most modern and they have everything you need to work with mail.
If you decide to start corporate mail on your server, quit this activity before it's too late, it is better to use it, since it is simpler, more familiar and gives much less trouble.
