pseudo registration. When registering, you are asked to send an SMS with a code, or indicate the number and enter the received code in the registration form. After entering, money will be debited from you, but of course there will be no registration. Remember that the real classmates site does not require a phone number when registering. And even more so, real classmates will never ask for requests to send an SMS.
you receive a letter from classmates (the letter can be of any content, from a message about a hack to a notification about an assessment). You follow the link from the letter. A copy site opens - then follow the above scheme.

In order not to fall for a deception - check, if not every time, then at least when a suspicious situation arises, for example, when the site is that the address in the browser corresponds to the real one, or a letter arrives where it is reported that your classmates have been blocked and asked to send an SMS.
