How to make a touch mouse on a laptop. How to disable the touchpad on an Asus, HP or other laptop running Windows. Disable touchpad with official drivers.

The laptop is conceived as a portable device that replaces Personal Computer hence all functionality stationary computer, familiar to the user, must be implemented in it without fail.

But in such a way that it does not create difficulties when used for its intended purpose - away from power sources, stationary flat surfaces.

How to disable the touchpad when using a mouse

If you have any problems, you can click the "Restore Device" button. On the other hand, computers leave them confused. But his innocence prevents him from understanding how the world works and understanding this mystical phenomenon. Extend your hand to the screen and touch it to start a new movie.

But then whine to help, and it's annoying. But, of course, the child is right. In the two years after my son was born, almost all the screens we interact with have been equipped with touch functionality. Poppies are about the same price, but if you touch the screen, you only get one layer of dots. Better to point out that on newer touchscreen PCs, the touchpad and mouse have not been eliminated: these computers almost always control traditional instruments.

One of the most convenient "chips" modern computer is a mouse or, scientifically, a manipulator that converts physical movement into an electrical signal.

The signal can be a command to move the cursor or scroll through pages in text editor... As a replacement for a mouse in a laptop, a special device is used - a touchpad.

The proliferation of touchscreen computers raises two questions. For starters: what do they need? Do you really need to touch the monitor and not use touch pad or a mouse? To answer the first question, yes: a touchscreen on a PC can be helpful.

Touching the monitor does nothing that cannot be done on a traditional computer. The same thing happened to me while looking through the photographs. The fact is that when using these laptops, the use of the touch screen becomes intuitive and invisible.

The way to hard disable the touchpad

The most common criticism of adding touch functionality to laptops is that they are unnatural. When using a laptop, hands usually rest on a keyboard that is relatively far from the screen: from this position, it is easier to move your hand on the touchpad than on the monitor. Another problem is the icons on the screen.

The exact translation from English of the word "touchpad" means "touch panel", "touch panel". Practically no skills are required with it, cursor control is through the movement of the hand when using computer mouse replaced by swiping your finger when using the touchpad.

The ergonomics of the laptop are built in such a way that the fingers find it themselves. Forcing the cursor to move along bizarre paths.

While this is quite convenient, it can be annoying to use the touchscreen at times. Conventional laptops will increasingly be controlled with a touchscreen, Reller told me. It was not preview air spell, but it was based on specific data.

Users reach out, touch the monitor, and over time they will do this more and more. The data confirms this: used touch screens... Soon you will reach out and touch the monitor. When computer mouse does not work because it is broken or you have a laptop, it may be helpful to know how to move the mouse cursor from the keyboard.

Disconnection methods

The touchpad is part of the hardware of the laptop, therefore, the mechanisms for determining its mode of operation are the same as for the rest of the hardware components.

Among such mechanisms are the following:

The first four methods are discussed later in this article in chapters with corresponding titles. But the physical method should be discussed separately.

To activate the keyboard pointer control when you do not want or cannot use the mouse, simply press the key combination. Here you can also activate the option to activate pointer control using numeric keypad to the right of the keyboard. By tapping the icon next to the clock, you access the pointer control settings and you can select the speed of the dart, which is very slow by default.

How to disable the touchpad

With a fighter mouse, the arrow mouse can move with the keyboard using darts instead of the numeric keypad which is on laptop computers difficult to use. Everything is still customizable, you can control the mouse by selecting other keys, and you can set its movement speed and acceleration according to their preference. So, here's the problem for those who are left with a PC without a mouse.

To replace the components of the system, which does not cancel the manufacturer's obligations for warranty service of the acquired high-tech equipment, specialized covers for removing and installing electronic devices are provided on the lower panel of the laptop case.

If you break your keyboard, you can use it to write. Ok then this is the article for you! The following are the most useful productivity keyboard shortcuts once you know them. On official page! Since we're on the topic, do you know the command to link to access “all programs” in the start menu? Or is something like a button trying to ask something about Cortana?

What precise gestures can be used

Touchpad control of a laptop is the standard today. If you have a laptop with this feature, it must be active. To the right of the touchpad, check for availability and activate the feature. Scrolling - touch two fingers and move them vertically or horizontally. Zoom - tap with two fingers to zoom in or out. Context Menu - Double-tap with your finger or tap the lower-right corner of the touchpad. Sliding windows - moving and double click on locked windows to hold and you can move them.

Physically disconnecting the touchpad from motherboard cannot be produced without opening the case, there are no special covers for this. Thus, this operation, once performed, automatically removes the laptop from the warranty.

To disconnect it from motherboard, you need to disassemble the laptop and disconnect the touchpad cable from the connector on the board. The reverse operation is also possible: to connect the touchpad, after physical disconnection, the cable is again plugged into the motherboard connector.

Display open windows- tap with three fingers and separate them. Show your desktop - tap three fingers to move them. Switch between windows - tap three fingers and move them to the right or left. Open the Action Center - tap once with four fingers. If you want to get more out of the touchpad or disable certain features, you can do so in your settings. So switch back to mouse and touchpad and find some very useful options to activate.

How to hide frequently used files

You can get it easily through the Registry Editor. After restarting, the function will be disabled, and if you do not use any other security solution, you will receive a message stating that your computer is not protected. This way, anyone who opens it or watches how you work can determine which files you receive the most.

The operation is not complicated, but it requires basic skills in handling modern electronic components.

Function Keys

The function keys control the operation of the peripheral components of the notebook. Activation of control functions is performed, as a rule, by holding down the key Fn while pressing the row key F (F1 –F12).

If you don't, click right click mouse on the "View" tab and select "Options". Right-click on the file and choose Connect. You have easy access to the data stored in it - it acts like a block of data. Data can be copied from it and even added to it. If you are working on a laptop, you may want to disable the touchpad in some situations because it interferes with your writing. This tutorial will show you how to simply disable it and re-enable it with a single command.

It also provides the option to deactivate the touchpad only temporarily while you are writing. Allows you to automatically disable the touchpad when a mouse is connected. The application can be found in the accessories menu, after turning it on it will appear in the top panel.

Attention! The location of the Fn key in Figure 1 is shown schematically. On your laptop model, the Fn key may be located elsewhere, for example, between the left Ctrl and Alt keys.

The list and function of the control keys do not fall under any international or corporate standard, so each laptop manufacturer is free to assign the functionality of the keyboard buttons based on their own preferences.

First you need to configure the GUI parameters. And make sure you have these lines somewhere. In this case, add it. To disable the touchpad, enter the command in a terminal. To reactivate the touchpad, enter the command.

If everything works fine, you can create triggers with commands on one of the bars or on the desktop, and you can control the touchpad with a simple tap on the trigger. You can also run the trigger yourself for login when you put it in System -> Options -> Session -> Program Login.

Strikethrough rectangle in one of the function keys may mean exactly the function you are looking for. While holding down the Fn button, press the key with the crossed out rectangle. Slide your finger across the touchpad. Is the cursor moving? It means that everything is not so simple.

Temporarily off the touchpad while typing

If it still can't, you can try the following. Add the following line at the end. Save the file and restart your computer. Then check if you can disable and enable the touchpad as described above. By default, the touchpad is disabled within 2 seconds of the last keyboard action. Management. Log out and log back in to see if it works.

Disabling the touchpad with a button

The touchpad is a very good invention that can successfully move the mouse on the go. Unfortunately, placing it under the keyboard is rather inconvenient when writing longer texts. On the one hand, you cannot handle your hands properly and you can accidentally become an accident when you accidentally mark a piece of text and delete it by pressing the next key.

The following list contains the standard keyboard shortcuts for disabling the touchpad in a laptop, sorted by laptop manufacturer:

Attention! Your specific laptop model may not have a manufacturer-assigned keyboard shortcut to disable the touchpad. In this case, the way to disable the touchpad using the function keys does not apply to your laptop model.

Likewise, when a classic external mouse is connected, the touchpad is no longer useless, and if enabled, it can cause problems. Fortunately, there is a fairly simple fix - the ability to automatically disable the touchpad. Some laptops may use Hardware, just press the preset key combination and the device will stop responding. However, not all manufacturers remember this, so we have to make the same good software solution.

Manual shutdown is the fastest, but also the least automatic. Alternatively, you can map it to a keyboard shortcut in your window manager. Then you can manage everything yourself and not rely on any kind of automation.

Synaptics settings

The method described below is applicable only to touchpads manufactured by Synaptics.

This manufacturer is the largest in the world, but your laptop may have a touchpad of another brand.

To disable the Synaptics touchpad, follow these steps:

The last line in bold is important to us. This parameter will also be important for automatic activation. Now you can turn it on and off with the following commands. All that remains is to map the appropriate key combination to run these commands.

A very interesting option is automatic shutdown touchpad while recording. He can organize a Sindaemon demon. Then just start the named daemon on the system. In this form, the program runs in background like a daemon and disables just clicking and scrolling. Mouse movement will continue to work, but it is harmless from our point of view. On the contrary, you don't have to wait for a reboot if you just want to move the mouse and then click.

Checking whether the touch panel has been disabled is simple: after pressing the "OK" button and moving your finger over the device, the cursor should not move.

Devmgmt.msc command

Command devmgmt.msc, entered in the entry line of the "Start" menu, opens a well-known to everyone Windows user the Device Manager snap-in.

Turn off the touchpad when connecting a mouse

By default, the touchpad turns off for two seconds. The last option to tell us in this article is to automatically close the touchpad after connecting an external mouse. Many users have a classic mouse attached to their laptops and the touchpad is simply locked at this point.

Their content is clearly visible: if a new mouse input device is entered, invoke the following command. You've probably already gone over the touchpad when you write on your laptop keyboard and move your mouse cursor. Just moving the cursor has no of great importance but if you move the cursor and mark the text and press another key, the text will unfortunately be deleted. So it's best to disable the touchpad when writing long text.

The same snap-in can be opened through the Windows Control Panel by following the following sequence of steps:

  1. pressing the "Start" button;
  2. selection of the item "Control Panel";
  3. the "System and Security" category is selected in the control panel;
  4. in the "System" section, select the "Device Manager" snap-in.

In Device Manager, the touchpad can be in one of two categories:

It can be called differently, for example, " USB device input "or somehow with the words" touchpad "or" touch panel ". In the option shown in Figure 3, the touchpad is called "Finger Sensing Pad" and is located in the "Mice and other pointing devices" list.

Right-click on the selected element and select the "Disable" item.

Bios

For complete shutdown touchpad, you can use the BIOS function, which controls the settings of the built-in pointing device. To enter the BIOS settings configuration mode after turning on the laptop, press the key on the keyboard defined by the laptop manufacturer. So, for most laptops, you need to press the F2 key, another common option is the Del.

Photo6 BIOS program screen

Attention! Function key assignments are usually displayed on the bottom line of the screen.

After entering BIOS settings you want to find an option "Internal Pointing Device", and set its value to "Disabled"... If you need to turn the touchpad back on, you will have to enter the BIOS again, find the same option and set its value to "Enabled".

How to disable the touchpad on a laptop when connecting a mouse

Apparently, the simplest and most logical way is to configure operating system Your laptop to automatically disable the touchpad when you connect an external mouse. To activate this mode:

Attention! This setting not present on all laptop models. The presence of such a setting on a particular laptop model depends on the version of the operating system, the version of the USB mouse and touchpad drivers.

If your laptop has a Synaptics touchpad, you can achieve the same result by checking the Disable internal pointing device when connecting an external pointing device to the radio button. USB port»On the device parameters control tab, as shown in Figure 2.

Although there are several ways to disable the touchpad on a laptop, not everyone can work on your model of computer. The specific method is determined by the user based on his needs, equipment capabilities and software laptop.

In the instructions, I will tell you step by step first about disabling the touchpad using the keyboard, driver settings, and also in the manager Windows devices... And then I'll go over each popular laptop brand separately. It can also be helpful (especially if you have children):.

Below in the guide you will find keyboard shortcuts and other methods for the following laptop brands (but first, I recommend reading the first part, which will work for almost all cases):

  • Lenovo
  • Sony Vaio
  • Samsung
  • Toshiba

Disable touchpad with official drivers

If your laptop has everything required drivers from the official website of the manufacturer (see), as well as related programs, that is, you did not reinstall Windows, and then did not use the driver-pack (which I do not recommend for laptops), then to disable the touchpad you can use the methods provided by the manufacturer.

Disconnect keys

Most modern laptops have dedicated keys on the keyboard to disable the touchpad - you will find them on almost all Asus, Lenovo, Acer and Toshiba laptops (some brands have them, but not all models).

Below, where it is written separately by brand, there are photos of keyboards with marked keys for disabling. Basically, you need to press the Fn key and the touchpad enable / disable icon to disable the touchpad.

Using Synaptics Settings in Control Panel

Most (but not all) modern laptops use the Synaptics touchpad and related drivers. Most likely, your laptop will too.

In this case, you can configure the touchpad to turn off automatically when the mouse is connected via USB (including wireless). For this:

  1. Go to the control panel, make sure that the "View" item is set to "Icons" and not "Categories", open the item "Mouse".
  2. Open the Device Settings tab with the Synaptics icon.

On the indicated tab, you can customize the behavior of the touch panel, as well as, to choose from:

  • Disable the touchpad by clicking the corresponding button under the list of devices
  • Check the box "Disable internal pointing device when connecting an external pointing device to the USB port" - in this case, the touchpad will be disabled when the mouse is connected to the laptop.

So, with the methods that assume the presence of all the manufacturer's drivers are finished. Now let's move on to what to do if these drivers are not present.

How to disable the touchpad if there are no drivers or programs for it

If the methods described above do not work, and you do not want to install drivers and programs from the laptop manufacturer's website, there is still a way to disable the touchpad. Windows Device Manager will help us.

You can open the device manager different ways, but the one that will definitely work regardless of the circumstances in Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 is to press the keys with the Windows logo + R on the keyboard, and in the window that appears, enter devmgmt.msc and click "Ok".

In Device Manager, try to find your touchpad, it can be located in the following sections:

  • Mice and other pointing devices (most likely)
  • HID devices

It can also be called differently: USB input device, USB mouse, and maybe TouchPad. By the way, if it is noted that the PS / 2 port is used and this is not a keyboard, then on a laptop this is most likely a touchpad. If you do not know exactly which device corresponds to the touchpad, you can experiment - nothing bad will happen, just turn this device back if it is not it.

So, to disable the touchpad in the device manager, right-click on it and select in context menu item "Disable".

Disable touchpad on Asus laptops

Asus notebooks usually use the Fn + F9 or Fn + F7 keys to disable the touchpad. On the key you will see an icon with a crossed out touchpad.

Keys to disable the touchpad on laptop Asus

On an HP laptop

Some HP notebook computers do not have a dedicated key to disable the touchpad. In this case, try double-tapping (touching) the upper left corner of the touchpad - on many newer HP models it turns off this way.

Another option for HP is to hold the top left corner for 5 seconds to shut down.

Lenovo

On Lenovo laptops various key combinations are used to disable - most often, these are Fn + F5 and Fn + F8. On the desired key, you will see the corresponding icon with a crossed out touchpad.

You can also use Synaptics settings to change how your touchpad works.

Acer

For Acer notebooks, the most typical key combination is Fn + F7, as in the image below.

Sony Vaio

As a standard, if you have official Sony programs installed, you can configure the touchpad, including disabling it through the Vaio Control Center, in the "Keyboard and Mouse" section.

Also, some (but not all models) have hotkeys to disable the touchpad - in the photo above, this is Fn + F1, however, this also requires all official Vaio drivers and utilities, in particular Sony Notebook Utilities.

Samsung

Almost all Samsung laptops in order to disable the touchpad, just press the Fn + F5 keys (provided that there are all official drivers and utilities).

Toshiba

On Toshiba Satellite laptops and others, the Fn + F5 key combination is usually used, which is indicated by the icon for disabling the touchpad.

Most Toshiba laptops use a Synaptics touchpad, therefore, customization is available using the manufacturer's program.

I don't seem to have forgotten anything. If you have any questions - ask.
