Why Windows 7 Freezes Up. Disconnecting Floppy Drive - Pictures

Hello dear readers.

Sooner or later, all users of computers with operating systems from Microsoft are faced with a situation when they need to change their environment. In this case, the reasons can be very different. Earlier, I already talked about exactly how you need to place the new OS on your device. But what if the beginning of the Windows 7 installation appears, freezes on the laptop and then nothing happens? As always, there can be a lot of reasons. Later in the article I will try to analyze the most popular of them.

The above problem manifests itself in various ways:

Causes( )

Despite the fact that the process stops at different moments, the reasons are the same:

Problems with the hard drive, RAM, power supply.

    Insufficient contact with the motherboard.

Closing the reader or USB port.

    Incorrect BIOS setup.

An error occurred while recording the image.

    Damage to the data carrier.

Well, as you can see, there are many reasons for the problem. They are conventionally divided into external and internal. Based on this, the solution to the disease will be different.

Waiting for a response( )

We will consider all possible solutions Problems. So, if suddenly on your laptop Asus or any other suddenly stopped the process of installing the operating system, you should not immediately worry. Perhaps you just need to wait 10 or 15 minutes. It is likely that after that everything will continue without any interruptions.

Why this is happening, official sources do not report.

True, it is worth noting that in most cases this is observed on devices in which motherboards Gigabyte and AMD processors. Apparently, during their interaction, small failures occur, leading to such consequences.

Distribution kit( )

What if the previous option didn't help and your HP or other laptop still freezes? It is worth trying to take a new portable memory with the Windows distribution. Alternatively, you can test an existing removable device on a different computer than yours. If everything happens again, the ailment is directly related to memory. Otherwise - with a computer.

It is worth noting that in the latter version, a separate component of the device may not function correctly, with the help of which the reading takes place. Therefore, to exclude possible options, it is worth conducting a test using just another disk or flash drive.

BIOS( )

On many computers and laptops, regardless of the manufacturer, be it Samsung or any other, problems starting the installation process can be related to two important parameters which are exposed in the BIOS area:

And for correct work you must specify the appropriate parameters for each. To do this, we perform several movements:

Now it's worth going back to the installation process again.

Computer check( )

If the above methods did not solve the problem, one of the next steps is to check your computer or Lenovo laptop(any other manufacturer) for mechanical damage. From the outside, everything looks the same as it was before - it is worth unwinding system unit... With a laptop in this case, you need to try a little more.

After opening, we check for the smell of burning, streaks, dark spots. In this case, it is worth inspecting everything that is possible, including the power supply, HDD, RAM connectors and more.

As a result, if a problem spot is found, it just needs to be replaced.

Testing RAM and hard drive( )

If the inspection did not lead to anything, it is worth testing important system components. So, for checking RAM, MemTest is considered the most popular program today.

But for a hard drive, several options are perfect at once:

    PC3000DiskAnalyzer.

I have already mentioned the latter more than once in articles earlier.

If a problem is found, it is worth replacing the corresponding component. As a result, everything should work normally.

As always, at the end of the article a thematic video:

Hope you can deal with the problem that appears.

Greetings, friends!

We continue to comprehend the basics of solving numerous computer problems.

And the topic of today's conversation is the "dead" hang of Windows 7.

System freeze is not a new problem, alas.

And there are a great many solutions to eliminate it.

True, not all of the proposed solutions are suitable for everyone.

And in order to understand the cause, you must understand something.

There are many reasons for the OS to freeze: the OS build curve, viruses, distributions and, of course, your, sorry, not very even hands. In addition, we add here purely technical problems, such as overheating of everything that is possible, a half-dead power supply, the same video card, etc. As a result, we come to the conclusion: it is simply unrealistic to point the finger and say “here it is - the reason for the hang-up”! Move on.

Since, from the above, it follows that the solution to the problem, with the system freezing, is different for each individual case, then we will consider several options.

1) The very first reason is a very weak (still factory) power supply. Oddly enough, but this reason is least of all paid by users: they say, what does the power supply have to do with it? And despite the fact that a weak power supply very quickly depletes its resource and, as a result, ceases to adequately supply energy to the computer system. Here's your first conclusion: replacing an old or weak power supply unit with a new and more powerful one can solve the problem of the system freezing.

2) The system freezes due to the firewall. A firewall is a "native" system antivirus that blocks access to virus software. Well, in truth, this is how the developers think: modern viruses cannot be stopped by any firewall - a fact!

But if you have it enabled on Windows 7, then you can solve the problem using the reg file ndis_filter (for example, at this link: http://dfiles.ru/files/4ltzgxe48). Downloaded, turned off the firewall, unpacked. The problem with freezing Windows 7 is reduced by 80-90%.

3) Problems with installing add-ons - all kinds of service packs. It is advisable if you set in the options “ Automatic update”Item“ Search for updates, but decisions about download and installation are made by me ”. Then you will be able to see what exactly is installed in the system during the update process and promptly find out information about service packs (the Internet will help you).

4) Another option is to set auto overclocking in BIOS. We enter the BIOS and in the “Advanced” section set the overclocking (overclocking) to 15%. Save and exit.

Of course, all of the above is not a panacea. However, if at least one of you will be helped by at least one algorithm, then the day has not been spent in vain. Good luck!

If you decide to reinstall or install the operating system, but the start of the Windows 7 installation hangs, then in this article, I think you can find a solution. And now in a little more detail what exactly will be discussed.

Earlier, when I was repairing computers, often, if I needed to install Win 7 for a client, I had to deal with a situation when after the blue installation screen appeared, the inscription “Start installation” did not happen for a long time - that is, according to the sensations and external manifestations it turned out that the installation hung. However, this is not the case - usually (except in the case of damaged hard disk and some more that can be identified by symptoms) it is enough to wait 10, or even all 20 minutes, for the installation of Windows 7 to proceed to the next stage (though this knowledge comes with experience - once I just did not understand what was going on and why the installation hangs). However, the situation can be corrected. See also: - all instructions and solutions to problems.

Why does the Windows 7 installation window not appear for a long time?

The installation dialog does not appear for a long time

It would be logical to assume that the reason may lie in the following things:

  • A damaged disk with a distribution kit, less often a flash drive (it is easy to change, only the result usually does not change).
  • A damaged computer hard drive (rare, but it does happen).
  • Something with computer hardware, memory, etc. - it is possible, but usually then there is also other strange behavior that allows you to diagnose the cause of the problem.
  • BIOS settings - this is the most common reason and this point is the first thing to check. At the same time, if you put the optimized default settings, or just the default settings, this usually does not help, since the main item, changing which can fix the problem, is completely unclear.

What BIOS settings should you pay attention to if Windows takes a long time to install or if the start of the installation hangs

There are two main points BIOS settings that can affect the speed of the first stages of the installation of Windows 7 are:

  • Serial ATA (SATA) Mode - it is recommended to set to AHCI- this will not only increase the speed of installation of Windows 7, but also invisibly, but will speed up the work operating system further. (Not applicable for hard drives connected via the IDE interface, if you still have any and are used as a system one).
  • Disable the floppy drive in BIOS- most often, disabling this item completely removes the hang at the beginning of the installation of Windows 7. I know that you do not have such a drive, but take a look in the BIOS: if you are faced with the problem described in the article and you have a stationary PC, then most likely , this drive is included in the BIOS.

And now pictures from different BIOS versions, which show how to change these settings. I hope you know how to enter the BIOS - after all, somehow the boot from a USB flash drive or disk was installed.

Most likely, one of the listed points will have to help. If this did not happen, then pay attention to the points that were mentioned at the beginning of the article, namely, the operability of the flash drive or disk, as well as the drive for reading DVD and the health of the computer hard disk. You can also try using a different Windows 7 distribution or, alternatively, install Windows XP and immediately, from it, run Windows installation 7, although this option, of course, is far from optimal.
