Self-repair of the TV remote control circuit. The TV remote control does not work, what to do. Diagnostics of malfunction of the TV remote control, tuner, air conditioner or any other equipment

If your TV set began to respond poorly to commands given through the remote control, or stopped responding altogether to pressing the buttons, then perhaps the time has come for you to learn how to repair the remote control from the TV with your own hands.

There are two ways to control your TV:

  • Via buttons located on the front panel of the device;
  • By means of the remote control.

And here there is an excellent opportunity to determine the source of the problem: if there is no response from the TV when you press the buttons on the remote control, but the TV follows the commands when the control comes from the front TV panel, then you will have to diagnose the remote control. But if the TV does not respond to either its buttons or the remote control, then, most likely, you are dealing with more serious malfunctions in the equipment itself.

To understand how to repair a TV remote control, you need to figure out where the problem might be:

  • The remote control may either not work at all - that is, when you press any button, there is no reaction from the TV;
  • The remote control does not work well - commands are executed, but not from all buttons or with a noticeable delay.

In the first case, the problem may be in the absence of a power source or in broken contacts on the microcircuit. Incorrect work The remote control, most often, is obtained due to discharged batteries or a case filled with liquid.

Batteries are low

80% of all calls to service shops about a breakdown of the TV remote control are caused by the batteries. The first thing to do when diagnosing a remote control breakdown is to replace the batteries with new ones.

Even if you only inserted new batteries a few days ago, you should try to update them. Batteries can be defective or expired; often, even in the original packaging, these elements can be "dead".

If the house has a voltmeter, then you can check their voltage with this device. The minimum charge value should be 1.3 V. If the battery potential is lower, it must be replaced.

Check the operation of the remote control with new batteries, it is possible that further repairs will not be required. If the reason is not in them, proceed to the next stage.

Some buttons do not work

It happens that some buttons on the TV remote control do not work well: they have to be pressed with great effort each time. This is also a very common problem, which can be solved by an elementary cleaning of the device.

The remote control may be clogged with dust or small particles of household dirt. Also, these devices are often poured with water, coffee or juice. The sticky mucus that collects under the button interferes with the contact of the contacts, which is why there is a delay or complete absence of the signal.

But how can you independently repair buttons with such dirt. Very simple: the device must be disassembled and cleaned.

  1. Remove the batteries.
  2. Unscrew the connecting screws on the console.
  3. Carefully detach the two body parts from each other. If something interferes, do not use force, but once again inspect the device, perhaps you missed some kind of fastening connection (often the bolt can be hidden under the batteries, for example). If the case has special latches, then you need to open them using a flat screwdriver inserted into the connection strip of the two parts of the remote control.
  4. You should have 2 body parts in your hands, an internal contact rubber and a microcircuit.

Carefully and slowly inspect each element. Despite the simplicity of the device, there are many small craftsmen in it, so it is better to conduct an inspection using a magnifying glass.

To detach the two pieces carefully plastic case Remote control, you can use not only a screwdriver, which can leave small chips and scratches. Some masters for this procedure use the usual by plastic card, which is issued by all chain stores.

Cleaning from moisture and dirt

Anything that has oily dirt can be wiped off with a damp cloth or cotton wool soaked in alcohol. However, if the remote control is old, the dirt can be unexpectedly heavy. It would seem where to come from that dirt, but, as practice shows, all remotes collect pollution.

Take a small bowl and pour warm clean water into it. Add a few drops of dish detergent and froth the solution. Put all the elements of the remote control in it, including the board. Don't worry, no short circuit will happen without power. After a while, all the dirt will get wet and it will be easy to remove it, for example, with a regular toothbrush.

Clean the board with radio components with particular care: they must not be damaged. The contacts on the microcircuit and the buttons themselves on the seamy side of the rubber element must be black! After all the dirt has been removed, rinse the parts with running water, blot them with a dry towel and place them in a warm, dry place for 30-40 minutes for final drying.

If the button contact is graphite-plated, the reason for poor performance may be that it is worn out and worn out. The usual packaging for chocolate or cigarettes will help to solve the problem. Foil on a paper base, you just need to cut into squares or circles of the appropriate size and glue the pieces with the paper side to the contacts.

It is best to glue the foil to the contacts with "Moment" or silicone-based glue. There is also a special product for this type of needs, but buying it specifically for 1-2 buttons is impractical. Also on the market are sold special repair kits for the remote control, which have buttons with a conductive coating and a small tube of adhesive.

Cracks after falling

Remotes remote control can be in a variety of places, as they should always be at hand: after waking up, you look for the remote control on the bedside table, when you have breakfast, the device lies with you on the table, and during the evening movie show, the remote control moves to the sofa next to you.

They are compact and comfortable, but they fall quite often, and this does not always happen on a soft carpet. If the remote control is dropped on a ceramic tile, then it can receive serious damage not only to the outer case, but also to the internal microcircuits.

If, after a fall, the remote control ceases to function, then its recovery also begins with disassembly. There are three common impact breakdowns:

  • Broken LED;
  • The contact terminal of the batteries is broken;
  • Damaged crystal resonator.

The first two faults can be identified visual inspection... The operation of the LED can be checked without even disassembling the case:

  1. Turn on the camera on your smartphone.
  2. Aim the remote at the camera so that the LED is in focus.
  3. Look at the screen mobile phone and press any button on the remote control. The signal, if any, will be clearly visible through the camera.

You can also check the operation of the LED using a multimeter, but for this the outer parts of the case will have to be removed:

  1. Connect the tester probes to both ends of the LED.
  2. Set the device switch to 3V.
  3. Press any button on the remote control.
  4. If the tester shows voltage, then the LED is working.

After an unsuccessful fall of the remote control, the contact terminal of the batteries may be broken in it. The spring contacts of this connection are soldered to the microcircuit, so make sure that the soldering is not broken and is holding firmly. Also check the springs themselves for corrosion or distortion. If the contacts are oxidized, you can clean them with sandpaper.

If you find ring cracks or oxidation in the soldering of the contact terminals and decide to re-solder them, then it will be correct to disconnect all the elements from the board, clean and irradiate them, and only then re-solder.

But the performance of a quartz resonator is not so easy to check. To do this, you need to disassemble the remote control and find a small box with soldered contacts on its microcircuit. If you gently shake it and hear the sound of rolling crumbs inside, then the resonator is broken and will need to be replaced. Such bullets can only be reanimated by a master.

If the TV remote control is dropped on the floor and immediately after that you notice that the device has stopped working, then when disassembling the remote control, you should pay attention to the ceramic resonator.

The TV may be defective

If you spent self-diagnosis remote control, following our recommendations in this article, but the TV still does not switch channels and is not controlled from the remote control, then the malfunction may be in the TV receiver itself.

In this case, it is worth inviting a qualified foreman with his own tools, who will be able to carry out professional diagnostics of the equipment and identify the malfunction.

Note.

Everyone loves to live in comfort. Many Appliances controlled via remote control, namely from the remote control. It would seem a tiny little thing, but how much use it is. But if something happens to the remote control, that's it. A real rush begins, because in many families - the TV remote control is an irreplaceable thing, and for children it is a favorite toy and fun, with which it is so easy to switch to cartoons from mom's TV series or dad's football.

Kids throw them, gnaw. After that, the television component breaks down or some buttons stop functioning on it. What to do? Repair! Anyone can make a high-quality self-repair of the remote control, even without experience.

How to fix a TV remote control is a fairly common question. However, the complexity of the repair directly depends on the degree of the attribute malfunction. The well-known symptoms of loss of gadget performance are:

  • not switching the channel when pressing the buttons on the remote control;
  • no volume control;
  • partial loss of the functionality of half of the buttons;
  • contamination of the heat-conducting layer;
  • LED malfunction;
  • the condenser has burnt out;
  • rusted / broken off to keep the batteries.

All malfunctions, as a rule, arise due to: constant drops of the remote control; improper storage; clogging with dust or pieces of food, because many people use this device when eating food.

There are many reasons for the breakdown and partial loss of the functionality of the TV remote control. The worst thing is that TV manufacturers don't want to improve the device, be it Samsung, LG or some other big name manufacturer.

Ways to solve the problem

Repairing a remote control element is not difficult in itself, but the question: "How to repair a TV remote control?" Is known to everyone. But today there are two ways to solve the problem:

  • First, you can go the easy way and purchase a new TV component, brand of your TV. But it is advisable to buy an exclusively original device from the manufacturer's official representative, that is, if the TV is Samsung, then you need to purchase it from the company's distributor. Otherwise, a cheap or counterfeit option will break down quickly or simply, and will not last even a day. Appreciate your nerves and resources. Also read,.
  • Secondly, you can try to repair the TV remote control yourself. The repair process does not require you to have a lot of knowledge of electrical engineering. Constant voltage in the device itself, no, well, except for the battery, which can be easily removed.

Yes, it's easier not to freeze and buy a new one, but the experience of repair itself is tempting and will be an excellent experiment.

Not a single TV repair shop is engaged in the restoration of this component from a TV. But if the master agrees, then the cost of his services will be equal to the price of the new one. Therefore, it is easier to repair the remote control from Smart TV or an old LG on your own.

Diagnostics and troubleshooting

Before asking the question: “How do you actually repair the TV remote control with your own hands?” - you should find out the exact cause of the problem. To do this, you need to make a diagnosis.

There are several ways to find out exactly why the remote control from Smart TV or other TV is broken:

  1. When you try to turn on the device using the remote control, the button does not work. There is also no action when other buttons are pressed. So it's about batteries. Perhaps they sat down. Should be replaced. When, after replacement, the element still does not function, it is likely that the problem is in the electronics. In this case, it all depends on your desire and knowledge of the intricacies of electronics. If there is no knowledge, then it is easier to purchase a new component.
  2. Check the remote control for operation of the IR LED. This requires a camera or a camera on a smartphone. Press the button on the device, direct the lens to the LED and click “remove”. When the remote is working properly, the photo will show a bright white spot where the diode was located. There is a glow - the point is in the signal receiver on the TV itself. It is advisable to call the master.
  3. When pressed, only a few buttons do not work or more than 10 do not function, then you can repair such a breakdown with your own hands. First you need to disassemble the device. We take out the batteries from it, and then we carefully examine the case for the presence of screws. If there is, unscrew it with a screwdriver.

Often, today all remotes are snap-on. Therefore, it is so easy to disassemble with a knife, which should be carefully pushed into the slot and pushed apart the panels until they click. Read also, and. After that we take out the board and the rubber tab. It is important to restore the conductive coating of the buttons. Often it is enough just from debris or visible pollution, alcohol and cotton wool. But if the manipulation did not work, then the reason is the damage to these coatings, and here it is already easier to buy a new device.

It is difficult to imagine a modern, comfortable evening without your working TV control panel at hand. Therefore, if minor breakdowns occur, you can fix them yourself, but if the malfunction is serious, buy a new remote control from an authorized representative.

Many household appliances are remotely controlled these days. If the remote control from the TV, audio equipment or air conditioner breaks down, we experience terrible discomfort. But you should not be upset, because many faults can be eliminated, but as a last resort, buy a new remote control.

No response to button presses

In many respects, repair, or rather, its complexity depends on the type of breakdown. Sometimes it is enough just to clean the remote control from dirt with your own hands, and in some cases you need to solder something.

A very common situation when you press the buttons on the remote control, and nothing happens: the TV does not work, the channels do not switch, the sound does not change. That is, the TV does not react in any way to manipulations with the remote control, there is no connection between them. This can happen if:

  1. the batteries are completely empty;
  2. the remote control repeatedly fell to the floor.

With the first situation, everything is clear - you need to install new item supply, and the repair will be completed on this. Even a child can repair the device in this way.

In the second case, the situation is more complicated. Most likely, the connections were broken in some soldering points on the diagram. If the batteries are okay, then there is one easy way to test the operation of the remote before you take it apart.

  • Turn on your mobile phone camera.
  • Point the remote at the camera as if you were photographing it and press any button on the remote.
  • If there is a signal from the remote control, but on the mobile screen you will see a luminous thick dot.

If there is no signal, then the remote control will have to be disassembled, examined and repaired. It must be disassembled carefully so as not to scratch or break the case, which is not always easy. First, they take out the batteries and examine the niche for them. If there are screws, they are unscrewed, if the remote control is latched, then carefully open it with a thin screwdriver or hard plastic card, inserting it into the slot between the upper and lower parts.

To get a good look at the board and see the malfunction, you can use a magnifying glass. DIY repair can be done by someone who knows how to handle a soldering iron. Most often, the LED falls off, the contact pads of the batteries move away, or the quartz resonator is damaged.

Shake the board and listen. If you hear a rustle, then the quartz resonator is cracked inside and will need to be replaced. It looks like a small soldered box. Its cost on the radio market is low.

Some buttons click and work and some don't

It happens that the remote control is very dirty, juice is spilled on it, or there is simply high humidity in the room and oil condensation has formed inside. In such a situation, DIY repair is not too difficult.

  • The remote control must be disassembled and wiped off the board, removing plaque from it. To do this, use a cotton swab dipped in alcohol.
  • The contact pads of the keys on the rubber part are wiped in the same way, at the same time, the case, so that it is pleasant to take in hands. Do not rub strongly so as not to damage the contacts.

There are reviews that after alcohol the remote control does not work at all. Chinese flimsy counterparts can really break. If you are afraid of this turn of affairs, then you can use plain water and dish detergent. Make a soapy solution, dip in a soft sponge and wipe all parts with it. Then rinse under a gentle stream of water, blot with a soft cloth and leave to dry.

The spring contact must be cleaned separately. In case of heavy dirt, you can use sandpaper or wipe them with a hard sponge. When all the parts are dry, they are put together. As a result, you repaired the remote control with your own hands.

The most popular buttons do not work

Some buttons in old remotes are simply erased from frequent use. To be more precise, the conductive spraying is erased, and the remote control does not work when the worn keys are pressed. In this case, you can also repair the old remote control. And it's easy to do it yourself.

Open the remote and take the rubber part. On the buttons on the back side, you need to stick a thin foil, for example, from a chocolate bar, on one side of which is paper, and on the other - metal foil. It should be glued with silicone glue, or "moment" glue.

There is a conductive adhesive that provides a more reliable contact, but it costs much more.

Kits with glue and spray buttons are also on sale. They are specially designed for making repairs to the remote control. In place of the old buttons, worn down to the base, you just need to stick new ones.

A completely broken or lost remote control must be replaced. Buy a universal remote control device from the store and use it to your health. If you wish, you can find a remote control completely similar to yours, then it will not even need to be specially configured.

As long as he regularly switches channels, and the user at the same time enjoys his life, life, one might say, is beautiful. But here the button is pressed again and again, and the channel does not switch. Trouble has come - open the gate. Soon there will be more such buttons. What to do in this case, and we will tell you further.

If the remote control does not perform its functions, this does not mean that it is faulty. The probability of breakage of its filling under existing operating modes is close to zero if its elements comply with the specifications. Therefore, usually the malfunction of the remote control is just a fact that confirms the common expression: electrical engineering is the science of contacts. And the first of them is to check the battery terminals. Oddly enough, it is in them that often lies the reason. Control pulses consume a current of a certain strength.

But this is often enough to "put" the voltage on the microcircuits with oxidized contacts. As a result, they are unable to generate the correct signal, and no switching occurs on the TV. The phenomenon in question is usually observed with partially discharged power supply elements. Therefore, if the remote control does not switch when you press the button, the first thing to do is open the battery compartment cover. They can either be removed and reinserted, or, without removing, shake-twist back and forth around its axis.

In this case, the oxide film is destroyed, and contact is restored. If after the performed operation the remote control works normally, then the goal has been achieved. But this case is like a bell warning of the need to replace the batteries soon. Please note that if the remote control has two or more batteries, they are discharged unevenly. For a more equal category, it is recommended to interchange them periodically. And when replacing, it is best to measure the short-circuit current with a tester and leave a more powerful battery, using it together with a new one.

We disassemble the remote control - the check continues

So, the batteries are disturbed, checked, and they are definitely working properly. But the remote control still does not switch. In this case, we check the buttons and the LED. In some remotes, it is open. But there are models in which the LED is located behind dark glass. In any case, it will not be possible to control its work with the naked eye. It emits pulses of infrared light that the human eye cannot see. But video cameras, perceiving them, perform optical conversion. Therefore, the operation of the LED of the remote control can be seen with their help and thereby checked.

In theory, the dark glass that can cover the LED should not interfere with fixing its flashes. But in their absence, as they say, for the purity of the experiment, it is better to check directly. For this, as well as for checking the buttons, the remote control must be disassembled. The design of the consoles is varied. Therefore, it is necessary to carefully examine the remote control being repaired before opening it. For manufacturability, the design is usually performed entirely on latches.

But some models may have hardware. They are usually hidden for aesthetic reasons and are accessible in the battery compartment. If, after taking them out and examining the remote control, the caps of the screws were not found, it means that the fastening is made only on latches. In this case, the two parts of the console body must be disconnected. For this, the seam is probed with the sharp tip of a knife blade. It is inserted and, applying a slight twisting force, they try to push both parts apart.

How to restore buttons

If this is done close to the latch, both parts are disconnected. With such a consistent action along the seam, the control panel opens. Inside there is a board covered with rubber buttons. We leave the LED for last, because to check at least one of its legs will have to be removed. And before that we check the buttons. It is possible to predict the malfunction of the LED only if the remote control is completely inoperative. If at least one button is triggered, then the LED is operational, and the problem is again in the contacts.

The consoles are structurally simple. Tracks are printed on the printed circuit board. The contact is created by a conductive layer applied to the surface of the rubber button. When pressed, this layer falls on two adjacent tracks, closing them. As the number of clicks increases, the layer becomes thinner and loses the required properties. Plus, dirt appears on the surface of the tracks. Especially if the TV is located in the kitchen.

After 5–10 years of correct operation, the failure of the remote control may be associated with contamination of the contacts. For cleaning, you will need either special wet wipes for the care of office equipment, or a cotton swab and alcohol. We recommend cleaning the board and buttons with plastic gloves. All contacting surfaces are wiped with a moistened swab or napkins. If the remote control has been in operation for five years or more, it is recommended that the buttons be restored after cleaning.

Otherwise, you will still need to do it soon. Even if the performance is restored after cleaning. The wear of the spray on the buttons cannot be stopped. It is best to apply a new coat immediately upon disassembling the remote control for the first time. A little bit of super glue and a piece of foil glued to each button will be a normal replacement for the original. Until the glue hardens, the foil must be pressed against the surface of the button so that the foil touches the board only when pressed.

Quartz is also damaged

In most cases, the buttons are the reason why the remote needs to be repaired. But it may also be that after gluing the foil, the working capacity is not restored. This means that the reason may be in the electronic components of the printed circuit board. Damage is usually mechanical due to the fact that the remote control was dropped to the floor. A quartz resonator suffers from this. Irreversible damage may appear inside it.

Usually, this can only be determined by monitoring the operation of the console using an oscilloscope. But if the remote was subjected to strong blows, the quartz inside could fly off. Then, when you shake the remote control, you will hear its movements inside the resonator housing. The only way out is to replace it with a new one. And the replacement, again, may not help. If the impact was so strong that the resonator was damaged, the board tracks could crack. Therefore, we leave this most time-consuming operation for last and check the LED.

Completion of the repair

Carefully, grasping one leg with pliers (so as not to overheat), we solder it from the board. To check, you need a tester in resistance measurement mode. It is good if a red or other colored LED is available to make sure the experience is a success by its glow. If the control LED emits visible light, then the IR LED will also be visible through the camcorder (smartphone can be used).

If the IR LED is working properly, only the cracked track version remains. You won't be able to see them even with a magnifying glass if a protective coating is applied. Therefore, you will have to use sharp probes that can pierce it. By testing each track in this way, you can find the damage. The found damaged track will not short-circuit the probes, which will be visible on the tester display. It is necessary to remove the protective layer from it and, using a magnifying glass, find a crack.

At this point on the track, a soldering is made with a thin wire. If the remote control still does not work, then you need to arm yourself with an oscilloscope and view the signals that are available in certain places on the board. But it is, rather, within the capabilities of specialists. And it is easier for an ordinary user to buy a new remote control.

remote control (remote control)

In consoles, 90% are occupied by defects of two types:

1) some buttons do not work (usually those that are pressed frequently). In this case, you need to cut out a piece of foil and glue it to the rubber base from the side of the contacts. For this, silicone glue is used;

2) often the defect occurs as a result of the fall of the remote control. Quartz fails. Any remote control can be tested on a portable receiver that has KB and CB waves. It is necessary to bring the remote control with its front part closer to the receiver and press any button. Interference from the transmitter will be heard (see below).

Restoration of the conductive surface of buttons

It is necessary to take polyethylene from fonts (and the like), the harder the better. Cut the rectangle to fit the PCB. Place on it the centers of the holes corresponding to the centers of the buttons. Next, drill or punch holes with a diameter equal to the diameter of the contact pad.

It is necessary to make all the holes that are on the PCB itself. We make a conductive layer. We take a baking foil (new, not wrinkled), stick adhesive tape on it. We cut out a rectangle according to the board format, make technological holes, as on a board (it is necessary to cut a hole under the LED). Putting it together - put the foil on the buttons (with tape on the buttons), on top of the board. Then we close the remote control.

The secret of restoring conductive

graphite layer on remote controls

For this, a graphite emulsion is prepared: "earplugs" are dissolved in any solvent for nitro paints. After that, graphite is gradually added to the solution - the finer the better. You can use a regular pencil for this.

This solution should be used to cover the torn section of the graphite conductor.

Remote control test option

From faulty video pairs and TV, there are always IK signal receivers in stock. They are soldered into the screen, as a rule, they have 3 pins.

The LED is connected directly to the block outputs: "+" - to "+" of the power supply, "-" - to the output. Stabilized power supply - 3 ... 9 V.

By the frequency of the LED blinking, one can also evaluate the quartz in the remote control (they quite often "glitch").

How to increase the effectiveness of the remote control

With deterioration (with time of service) electrical characteristics batteries (loss of battery capacity and a decrease in the current and voltage of batteries) for effective operation, it is necessary to proportionally bring the remote control closer to the receiver of IR signals. This is the first sign of the need to replace the batteries.

The operating range of a conventional remote control with one emitting IR diode, which usually does not exceed 5-6 m in an open area (not a focused stream), and in conditions of interior obstacles 10-12 m can be doubled by installing in series with a standard one, similar to IK diode. In this case, an additional IK diode must be turned on in the forward direction and installed next to the first. To do this, you need to carefully disassemble the remote control case, and, depending on the design features of the base IR diode installation (behind a protective glass screen or in an open state with an outstanding working surface of the diode outside the remote control case), drill a hole for another IK diode.

If a similar IR emitting diode is not available or, as often happens, it is impossible to determine exactly the type of standard IR diode used in the remote control (for control panels with a circuit supply voltage of up to 6 V), it is allowed to turn on AJI156A, AJI147A, AJI164A9, AL164A91 ( foreign analogues L-315EIR, L-514CIR). They have a transparent color of the bulb, the direct current / maxpr reaches a value of 100 mA, a wavelength of 920-940 nm, and a radiation power of 8-10 mW.

Increase the supply voltage electronic circuit the remote control pulse shaper is not needed, just as there is no need for any other intervention in the standard circuit. The increase in the range of the remote control has been tested with the Setro STV-2080MH models, the Samsung MAX-930 mini-system remote control, the W131W video player remote control and others.

The easiest way to check the remote control

This method can be used to quickly check the remote control anywhere, even if required in the field.

This will require a simple radio receiver with a medium wavelength range, for example, "0limpik-402" or "Selga-401-405", produced by the domestic industry. Today, there are many such radio receivers that receive radio waves in the medium wave range, and from their "Chinese" names "dazzling in the eyes."

When testing the remote control using the proposed method, it is not the presence of IR radiation that is checked, but radio interference created by the electronic components of the remote control is recorded. It is known that each radioelement is, to one degree or another, a source of electromagnetic interference "makes noise" and weak radiation of radio waves. At a short distance from the radiation source, these "noises" are recorded by the Selga-type radio receiver.

Throughout the range of medium waves, an intermittent audio signal (with a frequency of 400 Hz) will be heard in the radio receiver if a remote control located nearby (at a distance of up to 1 m) (with inserted batteries) button. While the button is pressed, the radio transmits an audio frequency signal to the speaker. Using the same method, you can control the effectiveness of pressing all buttons on the remote control, because it is important that they are all pressed with approximately the same force. This method is especially important when the remote control, for example, for a TV in the kitchen, is bought on the market or "from hand". Everything is possible here.

In order not to buy a "pig in a poke", it is reasonable to take a portable radio receiver with the ability to receive medium waves with you and, after inserting the batteries into the remote control when checking, check the pressing of each button on the remote control. Each press of a working remote control will certainly be accompanied by sound signal in a radio receiver (over the entire broadcast range of medium waves) from a distance of up to 1 m.

The second life of "Selga-404" and similar radios does not end with this recommendation. This type of radio, tuned to receive medium waves, can also effectively monitor operation (with short distance up to 1-2 m) IR transmitting devices of various security systems, for example, alarms or the operation of remote transmitting devices (bugs) that transmit information through IR LEDs.

In addition to the Selga radio receiver of various modifications, any (including modern) radio receiver, confidently working on reception in the medium wave range, is suitable for checking the remote control and performing related tasks.

You will have to check the serviceability of the IR emitting diode in the remote control using another method (for example, the first one recommended in this article), however, to check the operation of the remote control electronics, this method has no analogues in its simplicity.
