  • Poweramp Android application, version: 2.0.9-build-558-play, price: free (trial version for 14 days), unblocker - 79 rubles.
  • Android application Dream Player, version: 2.2.07, price: free.
  • Moobo Music Player Android App, Version: 1.5.2, Price: Free.

Another review of high-quality music players, in which 2 free and 1 paid players will be considered, which some readers asked to tell in their comments to the first two parts of the review (although it is not clear why, if they already use it?). You can read the previous parts of the review by following these links: Part 1 and Part 2.

PowerAmp

Size 5.95 MB. This player is one of the most popular music players for Android, and the number of people who downloaded it from the Market and the overall rating only confirm this - more than 10 million and 4.5 points, respectively. Able to play the following formats: mp3, mp4, m4a (including lossless alac), flac, ogg, wav, tta, ape, wv, mpc, aiff and wma (some wma pro files may require NEON support). But this player (just like the NRG Player, discussed in Part 1) is offered in a trial version for 14 days, and then you need to purchase an unlocker for 79 rubles. For those who want to have a high-quality music player and are already accustomed to its appearance in 14 days, the amount is small, but for everyone else who fundamentally does not want to pay for any kind of player, it makes sense to pay attention to its free competitors, among which there are quite high-quality and, at times, not inferior to their paid counterparts in their functionality.

At the first launch, I was pleased with the explanations for controlling the player - I had previously seen this only in the aforementioned NRG Player. Later, using the "Help" context menu item, they can be viewed again by calling them in various places in the player - on the cover of the current track, in the equalizer, in the music library. Although controlling your player is not very different from controlling other players, these tips will come in handy for beginners.

Interestingly, at the first acquaintance with this player, the feeling did not leave that much of what was seen in its interface had already been encountered in other players, which apparently borrowed some ideas from it, or are the developers of this player watching their competitors too closely?

Then click on the button with "3 dots" in the upper right corner (sometimes it disappears by itself - in this case, you can use the hardware button "Menu", which duplicates it) and select "Settings" in the context menu. First of all, in the settings, it is proposed to go to the Market or to the developer's website and pay for the unblocker, if you have any questions during the purchase, there is also a link to the forum with comprehensive answers, and you can also restore your purchase here. Next comes the settings themselves:

  • "Interface": change the appearance of the player using one of 3 preinstalled skins or one of the many additional skins downloaded from the Market (there are both free and paid ones), selection of the initial screen when the player starts (player, last playlist, folders or library) , screen orientation, adding an item to the context menu of the current track to completely delete it, setting up a toolbar with menu buttons (you can flexibly adjust "for yourself"), activating gestures to change a track / artist / album / folder, setting up notifications;
  • "Covers": flexible settings for displaying covers and downloading missing covers from the Internet;
  • "Sound": flexible setting of sound attenuation between tracks, player behavior during phone calls and various notifications, additional sound and equalizer settings;
  • "Folders / Library": automatic search on the device "music" folders or selection of a specific one for subsequent scans, rescanning, importing playlists from the built-in player and, conversely, exporting them from this player, flexible settings for scanning the device to search for music files, setting up playlists and play queues, full rescanning (with the erasure of the existing tag information);
  • "Headset / Bluetooth": behavior of the player when connecting / disconnecting. wired headset / headphone and bluetooth headphone, headset button customization, metadata for bluetooth headphone;
  • "Lock screen options": flexible lock screen settings and duplicate gesture settings from the "Interface" section;
  • "Miscellaneous": setting "scrobbling", additional settings for some firmwares and disabling the collection and sending of anonymous statistics;
  • "Other": go to the Market to download additional interface skins and widgets, support and contact the developer.

The player has quite flexible appearance settings that allow you to customize it to suit your needs. In addition to installing additional skins that make it more beautiful, the general settings have sections "Menu" and "Player interface" that allow you to move or hide almost any control buttons on the player.

Let's take a closer look at the player interface. There are 4 buttons in the upper part:

  • the first one opens access to the music library of the player and the "music" folders of the device;
  • the second one opens the equalizer settings (what it is and why it is needed is described in detail in part 1);
  • the third opens additional settings sound - "Tone / Volume", which can be accessed from the equalizer settings;
  • the last button ("3 dots") opens the context menu.

    Under the cover there are "stars", with the help of which the most liked tracks can be made "favorites" and duplicated into a separate list - "Highly rated", for more comfortable listening. Also under the cover there are 2 buttons - for repeat (the entire playlist, go to the next playlist, repeat a track) and shuffle (everything, only tracks, only playlists, tracks and playlists) - long touch to any of buttons brings up a pop-up panel with a complete list of their capabilities. A short touch on the cover selects or hides (makes semi-transparent) the buttons nearest to it (top and bottom) - at least when using preset backgrounds and making sure to check this option in the settings.

    Below there are quite large main playback control buttons, with a long touch to the track switching buttons, it turns on rewinding (usually, there are separate buttons for this). And at the very bottom there is various information about the current track with a scroll bar (which also allows you to scroll through tracks) and one button in the form of an "star" that opens a list with "highly rated" ("favorites") tracks.

    Such appearance the player has by default, immediately after installation, later, as already mentioned, you can change it as you like, moving the control buttons to a more convenient place and leaving only the most popular ones. In order not to get confused, further study of the player will take place with the standard arrangement of the buttons, only the general background will be changed to a more beautiful one, additionally downloaded from the Market.

    After completing all required settings, go to "Folders" and "Library", opened by one of the top buttons. The unusual thing is that the developer has separated the folders from the library, in other players they are usually found together (of course, provided that the player supports viewing folders). The first page, as you might guess, opens access to the "music" folders of the device, while they can have their own standard view, or modified - open the "List options" item in the context menu and in "Show as" select one of the options: "Hierarchy "(will give the folders a standard look)," List "(will display the covers of all albums nicely) or" Pictures "(will enlarge the album covers). Also in the item "List options" you can configure the sorting of folders, the items of which may change depending on the selected option for displaying folders.

    The second page contains the music "Library", with tracks sorted into lists - "All Tracks", "Albums", "Artists", "Playlists", "Highly rated" ("favorites"), etc. Opening the "List options" in the context menu again, you can choose which lists will be displayed in the library, removing unnecessary items from it - a very convenient option!

    Now it remains to look at the equalizer settings before we start enjoying the sound of the music. Use the top button to open its settings and see an advanced 10-band equalizer - to see all its "sliders", you need to turn the smartphone to a horizontal position, or make a sliding gesture over them.

    It will not be easy for beginners to set it up correctly and, most likely, they will resort to using the preset presets, the developer had to switch from 10 bands to 5, as it is implemented in some third-party players! At the bottom you can turn on / off. "Equalizer", "Tone" and "Limit" (volume limitation to preserve hearing), use the round knobs to make additional settings for low and high frequencies, open a list with all presets and select the most suitable one.

    If a suitable preset was not found, then you can create your own - run the track and set the "sliders" to the desired position, in accordance with your musical preferences, then click the "Save" button, select the "Add preset" line on the panel that appears and come up with a suitable name for it - and that's it! Later, by opening the general list of presets and touching on the right side of the name "3 dots", it will be possible to edit it - change the name, reset its assignments or delete, assign automatic application to the speaker, headset, bluetooth, etc.

    The lower part with the list of presets and other settings also extends to the next page (opened by the button in the lower right corner), which contains additional sound settings - "Tone / Volume".

    After completing all the necessary settings, open the "Folders" or "Library", select the desired track or playlist and listen to your favorite music, enjoying its sound and the appearance of the player. Called during playback context menu allows you to perform some manipulations with the track: select the appropriate equalizer preset, search for the desired track, place the current track in any playlist, open information and change its tags,

    delete the track, open the lyrics of the song (Poweramp brazenly stole it from the musiXmatch player!), start a timer to turn off the player at the right time and put the current track on a phone call (use it as a ringtone). A long touch on the cover brings up a panel with a choice or replacement of the cover.

    The player has a nice and functional lock screen, of course, not as advanced as the one discussed in Part 2 of Cloudskipper, but also good!

    The player is supplemented with 4 widgets (2x2, 4x1, 4x2 and 4x4), to which during installation you can apply a variety of settings, changing their appearance beyond recognition, as a result, it seems that the player has at least a dozen widgets! Plus there is an additional widget-button for playing a specific playlist (like the built-in Android player).

    Conclusions: enough quality player, with a clear and not overloaded interface, and after installing one of the many skins it beautifully transforms, has many simple and understandable settings that allow you to flexibly customize the player "for yourself", a high-quality 10-band equalizer and a variety of widgets created from just 4 pieces ! If you still don't want to pay for such a wonderful player, then you can use one of the third-party free players, whose high-quality representatives have similar functionality, go through all the parts of the review and, perhaps, find a suitable one.

    "Dream player"

    The size is 1.82 MB. More than a million music lovers have downloaded it from the Market, with an average rating of 4.3 points. Currently supports formats: mp3, ogg, 3gp, wav, mp4, m4a, mid, xmf, mxmf, rtttl, rtx, ts (Android 3.0+), aac (Android 3.1+), flac (Android 3.1+), mkv (Android 4.0+). "Dream player" - yes, that's what the developer called his creation, but let's see if the player justifies such a loud name or is it just the developer's dream ?!

    The player's interface is ambiguous - on the one hand, large and clumsy control buttons (including those on widgets), and on the other, a stylish translucent interface that opens when browsing the library, which you would never expect to see after "budget" buttons! When you start the player for the first time, go directly to the settings called by the corresponding button in the upper part ("wrench and hammer"), or by pressing the hardware button "Menu". The settings are simple and consist of 4 sections, and convenient switches are used to change them - moving the button to "O" enables the setting, to the red "I" - disables:

    • "Settings" - here are the "General" settings, the "Sound" settings (you can configure the switching of tracks with the volume rocker or gesture), "Headphones" (flexible settings for the headset buttons), "Lock Screen" (flexible settings and use of the "power" button for track start / pause), "Temporary data" and "Memory" (information about the amount of free / occupied device memory);
    • "Dimensions" - change the "Shape enlargement factor" and "Text enlargement factor" (did you understand something?);
    • "Design" - this section is divided into 4 parts:

    a) "Registration" - selection suitable topic(dark or light) and background (only 1 background is preinstalled under the "black skin", unlike the Poweramp discussed above, there are no downloads of additional background images, but as an alternative, you can set any of your own picture, it will be fully displayed in the library, but overlap with the cover of the current track, you can customize the color of the text and buttons for the selected picture), activate the display of covers and show playlists on the main page (the current playlist will be displayed over the cover of the album, allowing you to rename it, combine with another playlist , sending to Yandex.Disk and deleting);

    b) "Visualization" - activation of visualization and selection of its type (display of colored sound waves over the set background during playback - will be visible only in the open library, but covered by the cover of the current track, which is displayed most of the time, besides, such "visualization "obviously not good for the battery);

    c) "Notifications" - setting up notifications about the music being played on the "Notifications" panel;

    d) "Widgets" - what exactly the widget will open after touching the cover, setting the color of its frame, background and text;

    • "Internet": permission to use the Internet and search for covers on the network, use the "cloud" storage "Yandex.Disk".

    After starting the player, the upper functional panel immediately catches your eye, consisting of many large buttons for calling a wide variety of functions - not all of them are in demand, and using one of the buttons (the far right in the form of a "list box") you can edit the list of these buttons Thus, adjusting the entire panel "for yourself" is a very useful option!

    The hardware "Menu" button calls up a similar panel at the bottom, but with a much smaller number of buttons that do not fit all at once and require horizontal scrolling. Basically, here are the most "basic" buttons - "Sort" (with flexible settings), "Playlists", "Settings" (discussed above), "Power" (setting the time or timer to turn off the player, clear the memory and exit from the player), "Modules" (we will consider a little below) and "Remove ads" (if the player is used with an active Internet, then there will be ads in it, but this button allows you to remove it for 50 minutes or forever - in the latter case, the transition to the Market occurs where you should pay 49 rubles). The content of the lower panel can change (for example, the library offers only the buttons "Radio", "Settings" and "Equalizer"), while the upper panel remains unchanged, in accordance with the settings made in it, and, unlike the lower one, is always open ...

    On both panels (both top and bottom) from the right edge there is a "Modules" button ("3 points"), which brings up an extensive list of all the player's features, in which, at the same time, all the other panel buttons are duplicated. This list allows you to: open the "music" folders located on the device, display the "initial window" (shuffle all songs, view playlists, artists, albums, songs and search in folders),

    select the display of the main window (the current playlist or the cover of the current track), set the shutdown time (the "Power" option, discussed above), adjust the equalizer, open the built-in radio (about it at the end of the player overview), search for the desired track, open the history (flexible setting), saved positions (the player automatically remembers where the track was stopped and is able to continue interrupted playback), configure the player (the settings are discussed above), open the menu (bottom panel), listen to licensed free music in the "cloud" storage, view a slideshow from your photos or pick up suitable photos on the Internet (minus - the photos are shown only in vertical orientation), log in to your page in the "cloud" storage "Yandex.Disk" (newbies are also invited to register here).

    Equalizer settings are opened by one of the top buttons (if its display is allowed) or by using the corresponding item in the "Modules" list. The player offers a standard 5-band equalizer, with balance adjustment (for stereo speakers of some phones / smartphones) and controls for "Bass Booster" and "3D Effect" (Virtualizer) - only "reverb" is missing, but it is not particularly who needs it. The equalizer has a rather nice appearance and large "sliders". In the upper part there is a button to activate it and an extensive list of a wide variety of presets ("Genres"), if you did not find a suitable one, then you can make your own setting and save it using one of the lower buttons - it is possible to save more than one of your settings, which can then be deleted in the general list by touching the "cross" to the right of their names. There are no additional sound settings that more advanced players can boast of, although the available settings will be enough for most music lovers.

    After performing all the necessary settings, using the top button "Folders" (or the item of the same name in the "Modules") open the lists with "Folders", "Artists", "Albums" and "Songs" (only the list with "favorite" tracks is missing ) and choose what the soul wants to listen to. A big plus of the player is the built-in file manager, which allows you to open the "music" folders on the device, to play and copy tracks to playlists (checkboxes on the right side are used to add them) - not all competing players have this demanded option, especially , it is gratifying to see her in this budget player!

    Now let's look at the view of the player while playing music. Let me remind you that the very first button on the top panel (unless it is disabled - in this case there is an item "View: list / photo" in the "Modules") switches the display of the current playlist to the cover of the current track and back.

    The player's interface is not overloaded with unnecessary details - only the upper functional panel, large cover and control keys. The controls are quite standard - start / pause (duplicated by double-tapping on the cover), switching tracks forward / backward, shuffling all the tracks in the playlist (usual, without that many options that the Poweramp discussed above offered, although for those who carefully and in a certain places its tracks in folders or playlists in order, this option is useless at all!) and repeat (continuous / single repeat of the current playlist / track), and at the very bottom there are track rewind and volume "sliders", which is interesting, they can be moved relative to each other, increasing the size you need! You can navigate through the current playlist using the first button on the top panel, or simply flipping through the covers with a horizontal gesture - in the settings, you can enable switching tracks during such paging.

    A long touch on the cover brings up a long list of different options that can be applied to the current track: delete, remove from the playlist or move to another, rename, set as a ringtone, send by all supported device methods or to "cloud" storage on Yandex. Disk ", edit tags or cut the track into small ringtones (both options are very rare" guests "in music players!), Search the Internet for the lyrics of the song and its cover, add to the play queue, remember and delete the current position (the last item appears in the list only after "memorizing" the position), sorting the tracks in the playlist (large selection) and viewing the properties of the current track.

    But the player also has "hidden" talents! If you touch the thin strip with information about the current track, displayed above the control buttons, and, while holding it, move it up, then the control buttons will move up, greatly increasing in size and reducing the size of the cover - people with impaired vision and / or large fingers will like it!

    There is one more "hidden" feature that changes the appearance of the player, but it is more difficult to detect and for me it becomes "visible" after pressing and holding the hardware "Back" button and moving my finger up. The result is similar to the previous one - again the cover moves up, decreasing in size, and underneath it, greatly enlarged control buttons are displayed, only this time they added fast forward / backward buttons (10 seconds and 1 minute each) and the lower function panel ... In short, the lower part with the control buttons turned out to be quite mobile, movable both horizontally (track rewind and volume "sliders"), and vertically, adjusting to the user's requirements!

    In addition to your own music, you can also listen to the built-in Internet radio launched from the "Modules" list - a rather rare function for the player and usually found in separate applications for listening to such radio! The radio player consists of several sections: Russian music (Russia), Italian (Italian), children's (Baby), genres of music (UA), jazz (Jazz), podcasts (Podcast) and audiobooks (AudioBook). In order not to look through all the sections once again, the most favorite ones can be marked with "asterisks" and placed in the first section - "Favorites". If the Internet speed is not too high and the radio signal is cut off all the time, then in this case the settings, the icon of which is in the lower right corner, will help out.

    The player, unexpectedly, has a rather functional lock screen (configurable in the corresponding section of the settings), which allows you to fully control playback (switch tracks and navigate through them, flip through covers, etc.) and supplemented by 5 buttons - quick opening of the player, camera, phone book , messages or full screen unlock - to perform any of these actions, you need to move the icon of the desired function to the center of the screen to the "lock".

    The player has a good set of widgets (2x1, 2x2, 4x1 and large "tablet" ones - 4x2 and 4x4), which can be configured in the settings item of the same name (in the "Design" section), where you can choose what exactly will open the widget after touching the cover (player or control), and customize the colors of the frame (dark, green, transparent), background (dark, light, transparent) and text (light or dark) of the installed widget.

    Conclusions: on the one hand - a pretty good budget player, nothing superfluous, only everything you need, convenient control, a nice equalizer, the ability to view "music" folders, support for "cloud" storage "Yandex.Disk" and an amazing thing - listening to Internet radio ; on the other hand - in some places a frivolous appearance and a fairly frequent strong "freeze", when only a complete reboot helps, which does not fit in with the loud name of the player!

    Moobo Music Player

    The size is 3.89 MB. More than half a million downloads from the Market with an average rating of 4.3 points. According to the manufacturer, this player can play the following formats: mp3, mp2, mp1, ogg, wav, aiff, midi, aac +, 3gp, xm, it, s3m, mod, mtm, umx, mo3, mp4, m4a and ota.

    During the first launch, the player greets the user with a friendly word Welcome (Welcome!) And an optimistic picture of nature, after which it quickly scans the device for music files and lyrics to them. The next time the player is launched, this screensaver will only appear on the screen for a short time, without re-scanning - usually music players are deprived of such screensavers, immediately opening their interface, and when I see this screensaver, I personally recall the well-known Chinese player TTpod, discussed in part 1. After hiding the splash screen and the appearance of the interface, the similarity with TTpod becomes noticeable to the naked eye - the same simple but beautiful appearance, a built-in set of beautiful skins and a context menu in English, sliding to the sidebar, only here it is on the other side.

    You can view the context menu only on this slide-out panel, the "Menu" hardware button does not work here, it slides out on the left side, which is indicated by the traditional icon in the upper left corner ("stripes"). We immediately pull out the panel and go to the settings of the player (Settings), where, with surprise and relief, we discover that there are not so many of them! They consist of 2 small parts that fit on one page: the main (Normal Setting) and additional (Personality Setting) settings. Stock up on a dictionary and start translating, for example, here you can enable the display of the lyrics (Desktop Irc item), switch tracks by "shaking" the device (Change song by shaking) and configure the headset control (Headset setting).

    In addition to accessing the settings, the context menu allows you to rescan (Scan Media), search for the desired track (Search), turn on repeat or shuffle tracks (Play Mode - as usual, these options are duplicated by the corresponding buttons on the control panel of the current track), start the timer disconnect the player (Sleep), adjust the equalizer (Equalizer - we will look at it a little later) and select the appropriate skin for the player (Skin).

    The pre-installed cover uses the same picture as on the screensaver, it can be easily replaced with something even more beautiful - by opening the Skin item in the context menu, you can find 18 pre-installed pictures, including nature, a girl with a cat and calm monochrome background pictures. The selection is very good, much better than in the same TTpod, where "childish" and "abnormal" pictures prevailed!

    Having chosen the cover that suits the mood and attitude, we go directly to the music itself, which we have already forgotten about, considering and selecting beautiful pictures. Home page divided into 2 parts: Local and Remote (labels at the top) - and consists of 4 scrolling pages (4 dots at the bottom). The first part covers the first 3 pages, with the location on the first page of the entire music library, sorted into 7 lists: all songs (All music), artists (Artist), albums (Album), folders (Folder), "favorites" (My favrite ) recently downloaded to the device (Recently add) and downloaded from the network (Download).

    As you can see, there are no traditional playlists here, which is "not good" for a music player, but given its ability to open "music" folders on the device, this is forgivable. All open sections with lists are kept open on the next 2 pages, moving and replacing each other, so the most popular of them will be at hand all the time, just make a horizontal gesture!

    The fourth page is permanently reserved for 2 parts, allowing you to search the Internet for the desired artist or track, possibly with subsequent listening, but keep in mind that the covers of all found "similar" artists are automatically (and imperceptibly) downloaded and saved in the folder "albumimgs_caches" created by the player, which will appear on the device among your photo folders!

    The track being played is displayed on a narrow panel at the bottom, and if you touch it, an individual track page with a full set of buttons for control will open, if there is a song text, it will be displayed under the cover, and the button in the bottom will allow you to view the current playlist right corner (in the form of a "list").

    But before we start enjoying music, let's take a look at the equalizer settings, which can be called through the context menu. As you can see, the equalizer here is the most budgetary, there are no even traditional settings for low frequencies, surround sound and reverberation, well at least you can save your setting (the pre-installed ones are absolutely useless!), However, only one. It remains only to add that the "slider" on the far left is responsible for the volume level.

    Unlike the previous two, this player cannot boast of a "lock screen", it simply does not have it, and it has only 3 widgets (2x2 and two 4x1 black and white), but which ones, to match the beautiful appearance of the player - with realistically taken out half of the envelopes records!

    Conclusion: it has a very small number of settings, a primitive equalizer, no lock screen and no Russification (localization) at all, but this is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful players in the review (and not only in this part), not inferior in beauty even to a paid one Poweramp "y, with a pleasant and convenient interface, with no glitches and brakes - it works quickly and smoothly, only the widget sometimes" freezes "and does not want to start the track, you have to open the player directly.

    Here is such a review, I hope that he will help someone in choosing the right music player!

  • Introduction

    This is the second part of my story about what I believe to be the best four applications for the android platform. In the last article we talked about Dodol Launcher and launchers in general. Today we'll talk about music players and the sound of smartphones.

    Version: 2.09.
    Weight: 5.11 MB.
    Price: 79,00 rub.

    You must admit that not everyone plays, they read and watch films too, and the majority listen to music. In this regard, I decided to present to your attention music player... PowerAmp has already been tested by a lot of people (this once again proves its popularity), but I will try to supplement the image of this player with my review. This player from the developers of Max MP, was created in 2010. As I remember, then there were almost no analogues to it. Today, in the market you can find quite a few alternatives, the quality is almost the same and even, perhaps, in some ways better than PowerAmp, but the main feature of this player is "all the best in one". PowerAmp, I assure you, you need to download it at least once. The player has a huge number of settings, themes, widgets and functions. The hero of the review is positioned only as a powerful player. Supported formats are: mp4, m4a, tta, flac, ogg, mpc, aiff, not to mention the standard mp3, wav and wma. I wrote wav and immediately remembered the times when there was little memory on phones and all the music was in this format. Nostalgia.

    The developers thought that a flexible equalizer in PowerAmp would not be superfluous. I must say that if you spend a couple of minutes, the sound will become noticeably better, you need to adjust it for your phone and headphones, because different headsets have a different range and you need to manually add certain bands. I don't always have enough mid frequencies, I have to tweak them myself. Then we save the preset for its further use. The number of equalizer bands reaches ten. The player's rating reaches 4.5 points. The number of downloads exceeds 10,000,000 (!!!). Random access memory takes 9-16 megabytes.

    Official description

  • "plays mp3 / mp4 / m4a (incl. lossless alac) / flac / ogg / wav / tta / wma * / ape / wv / mpc / aiff (some wma pro files may require NEON support);

  • separate controls for low and high frequencies;
  • plays Folders and System Library;
  • support for .cue files;
  • dynamic queue;
  • view and editor of tags;
  • automatically download covers for songs;
  • many settings ".
  • Helpful advice

    To change the trial version to a permanent one for free, you need to perform the following manipulations: go to Settings => Applications => Power AMP => Clear data => Restart application. But keep in mind - such actions must be repeated every two weeks.

    Another helpful tip

    To get the best sound you need to download Viper4Android. Root rights required.

    If we talk about root-rights, then I myself could not get them for a long time. I installed various programs, but only one helped me - Kingo Android ROOT. USB debugging must be enabled to use the program. Installed on a PC.

    Brief conclusion

    An excellent player with a bunch of settings.

    Let's move on to the review itself

    I was very pleased when the tips popped up, I would have figured it out myself, but how nice it was that the developer took care of this too. Hints "accompanied" the entire player, from menus to settings.

    Click on the settings.

    "Interface": selection of the initial screen when starting the player, screen orientation, setting the toolbar with menu buttons.

    Lock screen options: Settings for the lock screen.

    "Miscellaneous": settings for some firmwares and disabling the collection and sending of anonymous statistics.

    Headset / Bluetooth: Set up the headset.

    "Folders / Library": customize the display of folders and albums, scan music.

    About the equalizer:

    Above we see 10 frequency bands. There are already settings here. Now, in fact, about the main thing - about the sound. The main thing here is not to overdo it. On the bottom left we see the "Equalizer" button (enable / disable), "Tone", "Limit" (frequency control limiter), the "Preset" button (presets), in the bottom right large buttons "Low" and "High" frequencies, the "Reset" button ".

    At the very bottom "Equalizer" and "Tone / Grmk.", Click on the last one.

    At the top there is a button "Mono", "Balance" (shift the sound to the right or left), sliders "Stereo X" and "Volume."

    The lower highs and lows remain the same.

    The equalizer itself:

    Here the frequencies are: 31, 62, 125, 250, 500, 1k, 4k, 16k.

    Everything here is very flexible, there are many settings, this is the plus. Big and bold plus. Of course, everything does not depend on the player in sound, but a lot can be changed in a positive way. PowerAmp makes the sound enjoyable low frequencies audible clearly. For your device, you will need to configure everything manually in order to improve the sound of the phone. A huge plus, of course, is the presence of a high-quality audio chip in the phone, which can achieve the best possible result on various headsets, well, for example, like the Meizu MX3, which has won the respect of all music lovers. But if you do not have the best audio chip, you have to cope on your own: you can improve the sound by adjusting the equalizer or using the program I wrote about above.

    Click on the top button, which looks like a folder.

    We get to the "Folders" menu, everything is clear here, we press the "Library" button.

    We see the following items: "All Tracks", "Albums", "Artists", "Genres", "Playlists", "Queue", "Highly Rated".

    Exit to the menu, see the playlist control buttons.

    After clicking on the left Android system button, such a menu appears.

    There are the following items: "Words" (displaying the text of the track), "Search", "Playlist", "Info.", "Tags", there is even a "Sleep timer", turn it on, fall asleep, the player turns itself off. Comfortable.

    After pressing "Call", the track is placed on the ringtone.

    This is how the sleep timer turns on.

    Title, artist and album.

    Video review. Jams happen due to video recording.

    Let's go to the settings.

    Not all users put up with the way their phone sounds. The openness of the "robot" allows you to customize everything for yourself, including the sound of the phone. Among the apps, there are a huge number of music players that will seriously tweak your phone's sound. You can customize the basics with PowerAmp, and add and adjust the little things with Viper4Android. With these two applications, you can achieve good sound, you just need to spend half an hour setting up.

    You can rescan folders. To update the music in your phone.

    You can close unnecessary folders. PowerAmp opens all folders, including game folders, i.e. the folders containing the sounds of applications and games are opened. By clicking, we close unnecessary folders, and they no longer interfere with us. Again we observe how everything is worked out to the smallest detail.

    Personal opinion

    Great turntable, just great. The sound is at a very good level; if there are no high-quality "plugs", then this application will help you get the most out of your headphones.

    There were no hang-ups, I did not notice any other flaws. Yes, they complain about bad updates, but I try not to update it.

    The main plus, probably, is that you can customize the displayed folders. For people who listen to tracks individually, it is not a problem that some folders are not displayed in the player menu, but for those who listen to albums at once, such a solution is a huge plus, because some albums are simply not displayed as a whole. but they are lost among other files, so much so that later you will not find them, of course, if you have a huge collection of music files. I myself have over a thousand tracks, and all the tracks are combined into albums, which is why it is so convenient for me and that is why I consider it a huge plus.

    The second advantage is the equalizer. This is a really powerful equalizer: you add low frequencies, the sound really comes out bass and pretty high quality (of course, if you have good headphones). The next day I decided to see how other players cope with this: I downloaded Stellio, lowered the low frequencies there, and the sound was, I must say, much worse, downloaded jetAudio, and it has about the same sound quality as in Stellio.

    Conclusion: according to the two most important criteria, in my opinion, this player outperforms its competitors.

    The experience of using this music player is extremely positive. Not a single downloaded player has made me so happy. There are really a lot of settings. So many that I didn't use it for the most part. I did not have any lags and throws. All flipping happens very smoothly. Equalizer? I don’t know, I haven’t seen better. Honestly. If you work with the settings, the sound becomes much better: the beats and bass sound much more distinct. Each separate sound in a track sounds like a separate instrument, i.e. it is very clearly audible and the music played, which I have heard many times, sounds completely different. After trying this player, I no longer install others ... 9 points.

    The player has several widgets that can be dropped onto the desktop for more convenient use. You can adjust the transparency of the background, the transparency of the shadow, you can change the text of the display of information about the track.

    In terms of design, PowerAmp offers a huge number of covers, which, as I already wrote, are made by users, so there are, in fact, a huge number of them. You can download from third-party sites, you can from the market. Personally, I don't really like all these third-party covers, and I always have the standard one.

    A huge number of cover settings from transparency to background intensity. Well, as you can see, there are still a huge number of all kinds of checkmarks.

    In the "Interface" section, you can change the skins. There are a lot of covers, as I wrote earlier, because the users themselves create and upload them. I don't know if you can try them all. I also want to say that the lock screen is available for download in the market. Give it a try.

    Customize your lock screen. Customize the display of covers on the lock screen.

    There are a lot of covers here. The fans did their best.

    Video review:

    Output

    Summing up, I would like to say that this Android application really deserves respect. You don't have to buy right away, since a 2-week trial period has been implemented for this. Its price is not high.

    PowerAmp supports all Android version starting from 1.6. It is not demanding on resources, consumes a small amount of energy, has a large number of chips, settings and add-ons. One of the best players at the moment.

    I must admit, there are, of course, players that overtake it in some aspects, but it seems to me to be the most successful and balanced of all. I myself used Stellio before, but the sound there was much worse and the functionality is lower. The settings in Stellio are much less than those of the hero of the review, but I must say that there is one function there, with which you can flip through the tracks by shaking the phone. A very convenient option so that you don't have to press the lock button a hundred times when you want to switch the song. For some reason I did not find such a function in PowerAmp. In general, the player reads all the necessary file formats, has a large number of settings, chips and a bunch of beautiful themes that are made not only by developers, but also by fans of the program.

    The simplicity of the interface is also pleasing, nothing superfluous: playback control buttons, library buttons and equalizer keys. I've been using PowerAmp for a month now, I'm not going to change it. In the near future, I think, I will finally buy it, so as not to suffer with these terms of use. For these 79 rubles, we get a completely high-quality music player that plays all the necessary formats and even more.

    Of the minuses, I will highlight that there is no function for switching tracks with a volume rocker, as well as shaking the phone. When connected to the Internet, the application sometimes crashes. There are, of course, there are some jambs after the updates, but then this is all corrected.

    You need to understand that one player cannot please everyone and therefore you need to download different players, perhaps you will choose your own, for your phone and headset, which will suit you.

    There is only one conclusion: download.

    In these difficult times of various technologies, it is no longer so difficult to search and download applications for many phones. There are many different applications, programs and games for iOs, Android.

    Many of them are paid and free. Advanced users want their phone to be more convenient to use in all respects: performance, design, versatility, speaker volume on the phone and in headphones, etc.

    More than 87% of smartphone users listen to music with headphones. But, unfortunately, sometimes the sound does not always please our ears or the volume is not enough.

    Now everything will change! Indeed, quite recently, which for many people is still, surprisingly, a secret, a unique of its kind, the best, multifunctional player for the Android PowerAmp platform appeared.

    This wonderful player can play a huge number of multimedia file standards: MP3, TTA, WAV, OGG, WMA, MP4, Flac and MP4A, and loseless ALAC. The player cannot use the system codecs.

    With a 10-band equalizer, PowerAmp lets you enjoy the sophisticated sound that every music lover will listen to. Also, the player supports both foreign and Russian tags, both of which can be edited at your discretion.

    There is a unique opportunity to change the cover of the player itself in every possible way and display the selected widgets on the screen of your communicator. There is an interesting opportunity to use the remote remote control in order to control the player.

    With PowerAmp for android, you can easily transform your smartphone into a full-fledged good music center.

    Initially, the player will scan the entire memory of your phone for the presence of music files, and after that, they will appear in the player's library and folders, and in the settings you can always specify the folders you need to scan.

    "All Tracks" - all songs are displayed here in alphabetical order, with each showing the artist, track time and album.

    With a short press on the selected track, it will be instantly played, and if you hold it down, an additional menu will open, which will allow:

    • queue this track for playback;
    • add it to the playlist;
    • delete of course;
    • see detailed information about this track;
    • set the selected track, and any, as a ringtone, and you can select certain subscribers to which you can attach an audio recording;
    • and of course send via bluetooth function.

    Well, if you prefer to work for network computer, then for more stable data transmission we recommend using only high-quality patch cords. you can buy wholesale patch cords at a more favorable price in comparison with the retail price.

    General description of the application

    Poweramp appeared in the store Play Market at the end of 2010. Then it was the first version, containing flaws and minor problems. A special feature is that the creator of the famous application is our compatriot Maxim. He managed to do what no one could do - he created the first multifunctional audio player, which simply had no competitors at that time. The application had the most beautiful interface, a 10-band graphic equalizer, its own multimedia library and a huge number of functions. In the early stages of development, the program was free, and each update could be used for two weeks. During this time, the developer listened to every wish, corrected all sorts of bugs and shortcomings encountered on different devices... In general, the player developed right before our eyes, in accordance with our desires. Version 1.х.х became very popular in the market, and by the middle of 2011 the number of purchases had grown to over a hundred thousand. By this time, worthy competitors began to appear, but they all fell short of the incredible functionality and sound quality of Poweramp.

    Today current version the application has the first number 2, this indicates that the player has undergone major changes and has become ideal for all users. Its cost in the market has decreased markedly, while its convenience and functionality have increased. You can download the 2-week trial version from our website or from the app store. But we advise you to buy a license in the future, since the application is worth its little money.

    Let's take a look at the main advantages of the Poweramp player:

    • very beautiful and user-friendly interface with support additional topics registration
    • playback of all audio formats: MP3, MP4 / M4A (including loseless ALAC), FLAC, OGG, WAV, TTA, WMA, APE / WV
    • own multimedia library
    • the ability to play folders
    • high quality sound
    • 10-band equalizer with additional effects
    • the ability to output sound directly (not supported by all models)
    • support for .cue files
    • built-in tag editor
    • automatic download of album cover
    • widgets of different sizes for the home screen
    • support for control from lockscreen
    • and much more

    Working with the application

    So let's take a closer look at this must-have application.

    Once you install and run Poweramp, you will see several tips on how to work, and then you will be taken to the initial library window, which consists of the following points:

    • All tracks
    • Albums
    • Performers
    • Genres
    • Playlists
    • Queue
    • Highly rated
    • Recently added

    Three buttons are also displayed at the bottom: folders, a library, and the Poweramp icon, which opens the playback window.

    Initially, the player will scan the entire phone memory for music files, which will later be displayed in the library and folders, but in the settings you can specify specific folders for scanning. How to do this will be discussed later.

    Now let's take a closer look at how the library items look and what they consist of:

    All tracks - all songs are displayed at once in alphabetical order, and each of them contains the artist, album and track time. If you press a track shortly, it will be played immediately, and if you make a long tap, an additional context menu will open, which will allow you to: put the track in the playback queue; add to playlist; delete; find out detailed information; set the track as a call; and send over bluetooth.

    Albums - this item displays all albums in the form of thumbnails of covers, with a title and artist. If you quickly click on it, a list of tracks will open, and if you hold it for a while, an additional menu will also appear that allows you to put the album in the playback queue, shuffle the tracks before listening, add to the playlist created in advance and delete the entire album.

    Artists - displays artists found in the entire phone memory or specified folders. Here we see the total number of artists and the list of artists itself with the number of tracks in each. If you select an artist, a list of his albums will open, and if you hold it down, a menu similar to the previous one will appear. From the albums, we respectively get to the tracks. Return to the level up is carried out with the back key or the arrow at the top of the screen.

    Genres - this item sorts songs by genre, which is read from ID3 tags.

    Playlists - here you can create your own playlists, fill them with the necessary songs.

    Queue - the tracks that you assigned to the queue in playback are displayed. The queue starts playing depending on the settings in the application settings menu, but by default it starts after the end of the track being played.

    Highly rated- when playing a song, you can rate it by increasing the stars. The songs with the highest rating are displayed in this item.

    Recently added- the tracks that you recently uploaded to the phone memory or to the SD card appear here. The selection criterion is set in the settings.

    This screen (libraries) can be edited: remove or add items, we will consider how to do this later, when we study the settings.

    When you select the "Folders" item, a list of destination folders will open in front of you, in which the music files are directly located. This item will be useful for those who do not follow the tags of their files, because of which the library turns into a "trash bin" in which it is difficult to find one or another composition. You can perform all the same actions with folders as with albums and artists.

    Now let's see what the main playback screen looks like and what it consists of.

    First of all, I would like to note how many different information, functions and buttons are located on it. A huge cover, the name of the track, album and artist, buttons for switching tracks, albums, a convenient progress bar with time, and much more.

    Let's take a closer look at them.

    At the top of the screen there are 3 light buttons on top of the cover. The first- daddies with a treble clef, opens the initial screen of the player: library or folders, depending on what display settings you have set. The second opens the graphic equalizer and frequency control. Third- adjustment of additional effects, balance and frequencies.

    At the bottom of the cover there are buttons that also function as indicators of repeat and shuffle playback.

    Repeat button has 4 modes: 1) no repeat; 2) repeat the list (after the end of the playback of the list or album, it starts playing again); 3) to the next list: this function, on the contrary, enables the transition to the next album or list after playing the current one (by default, when the list ends, the player stops playing); 4) repetition of one track (at the end of playback, the track is played again).

    Shuffle button has 5 modes: 1) stirring is disabled; 2) included shuffling of all tracks on the phone; 3) shuffling tracks, lists in turn (this mode first shuffles the tracks in the album, at the end of it it goes to the next album and shuffles the tracks in it); 4) shuffles lists, tracks (in this mode shuffling of tracks is turned off, and only lists are shuffled); 5) mixing tracks, mixing lists (both lists and tracks are mixed). It should be noted that in the library itself, the tracks and lists do not change places, but simply random playback is turned on.

    If you hold these buttons for a while, a context menu with all modes will appear.

    Then comes the title of the song in bold, as well as the artist and album. On the right is the track counter, which can be turned off or on in the settings. If you click on the strip with information about the track, the current playlist will open. In the case of a long tap, a small menu with all parent categories will appear.

    At the very bottom there is a progress bar, elapsed and total playback time, as well as information about the audio quality. Sample rate, bit rate and track format are displayed. This field can be edited in the settings, you can put other information in it for display, for example, the next track.

    It should be noted that if you click on the cover, a strip with asterisks will appear, with the help of which the rating for the track is set. You can set any value up to five. Tracks with the highest ratings will be displayed in the "High Rated" main menu item.

    Recently, the PowerAmp forum and PlayStore have an opportunity to download the third version of the popular audio player for Android. The fundamental difference from the second version is the developer's new approach to sound output and expanded options for its settings. Let the version is still Alpha, but it works quite stably and pleases with high-quality sound when correct setting... So let's get this player set up correctly!

    Recently released updated version Poweramp v.3 build 803/805, new version this article can be read by clicking on the link:
    https://casediletanta.blogspot.com/2018/10/poweramp-v3-803.html

    Before making the settings, plug in the headphones and set the volume to minimum. Likewise with disconnected headphones. Caution does not hurt.
    I will demonstrate the settings that are optimal for smartphones. Sony Xperia Z2 / Z3 / Z3 Compact and similar. I give explanations why certain settings are selected, so if you have another smartphone, you can decide what settings you need to make in your case.

    Swipe from the left edge of the display and press Settings.
    Using the gear, you can remove unnecessary side menu items.

    Click on Audio.

    The new menu items immediately draw attention to themselves.

    First, let's set up Replaygain scanner. Simplified, the principle of the scanner is as follows: to maximize the volume level without distortion and loss. This technology is relevant for lossy files i.e. lossy compression formats such as MP3, AAC, OGG Vorbis. Those who have Foobar2000 installed on their PC will probably notice the similarities in settings. Therefore, the principle of adjustment is similar. in point Replaygain select ApplyGain / prevent clipping i.e. we suggest that the player turn up the volume, but without bringing it to clipping (distortion). In field Source(Source) set Album or Track i.e. equalization of volume within an album or each track.
    RG Preamp / Preamp for songs without RG info(Gain): Sets the value in decibels how much to increase the volume of tracks that have a ReplayGain value in their tags or not (respectively). Meaning RG Preamp is selected experimentally, but I recommend setting it as in the illustration below. This is a compromise setting.
    The safest setting is to leave it at 0 dB.
    Meaning Preamp for songs without RG info better left at zero.

    We leave the menu. We go to the next item Resample(Resampler).

    Change the type of resampler to SoX Resampler. The player warns us that it is of the highest quality, but slower and consumes more energy.

    Why SoX? Again, the time-tested resampler is familiar from Foobar2000 for PC, has high quality... We tune the player for maximum sound quality, so in this case it is assumed that you are willing to sacrifice power consumption for the sake of quality. Well, the "slowness" of the resampler does not matter, provided that you have modern smartphone not older than 3 years.

    Resampler Cutoff Frequency Ratio(Cutoff frequency ratio) - here you can leave it as it is or set it to 95% (by default in Foobar2000).

    Dither(Dithering) - needed if you are trying to play a musical composition with a bit depth of 24 bit (see the very first screenshot, PowerAmp indicates the bit depth of music at the bottom of the window if the bit depth differs from the standard 16 bit for CDs) and your smartphone only supports output in 16 bit format. In other cases, activating this option will only worsen the sound. If you only listen to 16-bit music (and this is the majority of files, all files mp3, aac and others), then you should also disable dithering. Dithering is not necessary for downsampling, i.e. you don't need dithering to play a 16bit 44.1 kHz mp3 file on a smartphone that supports 16bit 48kHz! All you need is a resampler, in this case SoX. At the same time, music in 16bit can be played without any dithering on a 24bit chipset.

    We'll set it to None because the Z2 chipset can play 24bit 96kHz music and the PowerAmp supports this feature.

    Now exit the menu and click on the item Output(Sound output). The most interesting!
    We are offered three sound output schemes to choose from. First, how to immediately understand which of the sound output circuits is active? Quite simply, Active appears on the right.
    The screenshot below shows that Hi-Res Output is active.

    Let's analyze the sound outputs point by point:

    AudioTrack Output (Java based)- this is what users put up with throughout the early versions of the android up to some of 4.x.Using such sound output is highly discouraged. Sound is controlled by Java software with gigantic delays.

    OpenSL ES Output (Native optimized)- Accelerated audio output using OpenSL ES. What works on most smartphones, this pin is active by default in the player. Why is he so good? It is optimized for hardware and low-level software, in other words, it works with lower latencies and with acceptable sound quality at the output.
    If you are using this output with 24bit files, it may make sense for you to use Dither only with 16bit files it will need to be disabled again.

    Let's go to its settings. Click on this item.
    What we see: a series of switches, the names of which speak for themselves: for which sources to use this output.
    Wired Headsey / AUX are wired headphones, headsets, or whatever is connected to the analog headphone output, such as mini speakers or an analog amplifier. In our case, this audio output circuit for headphones is not used, but it is active for Bluetooth headphones and everything else. We will set it up for now. For each device, you can customize the settings by clicking on the gear.

    Let's look at the settings using the example of wired headphones, since the settings are similar.

    The player indicates that the output parameters are 16 bit (the same for all smartphones) and 48kHz (for Z2, maybe 44.1 for other devices).

    Why, in the case of the Z2, the player set the sampling rate to 48kHz, although the parameters of a standard CD are 16 bit 44.1 kHz? Yes, because Android selects the frequency that is a multiple of the base (i.e., native) frequency for hardware and, accordingly, for audio drivers.
    Therefore, indirectly, we understand that the Z2 will best play music with a sampling rate of 48kHz and a multiple of it. Which? Multiply x2, we get ... right! maximum for smartphone hardware 96kHz.

    The No Equ / Tone item is useful in that it turns off the equalizer, loudness settings - in other words, it produces sound without changes. If you do not use the equalizer (and it is better not to use it!), I recommend turning it on for all devices just in case. We leave the menu.

    Hi-Res Output (Experimental)- high-resolution audio output available for a number of smartphones, including the Z2. Unlike the previous two, this conclusion is implemented by the smartphone manufacturer. However, there should be support from the player as well.

    The Variant item indicates the name of the output method implemented by the smartphone manufacturer. In the case of the Z2 - Sony High Res Audio. If this item works for you, turn on the switches on all outputs. We go to the settings of the headphones (Wired Headset) by clicking on the gear.
    The sound parameters are impressive: 24 bit 96kHz.

    DVC is always enabled - means that the player directly controls the volume and this cannot be disabled. And it is not necessary!

    Immediately turn on No Equ / Tone if you do not use an equalizer.

    Sample Rate

    Here we will set the maximum for the Z2 to 96kHz. Even when this output is selected, the player writes that the sampling rate will be adjusted to the output parameters.
    Those. in our case: 16bit 96kHz and 24bit 96kHz files will be played unchanged, and all the others will be played through the SoX resampler (do not forget that the resampler consumes battery power for its work), for example, 24bit 192kHz and standard 16bit 44.1kHz files will be converted to 24 bit 96kHz. In the latter case, there will be upsampling i.e. we will kind of get high-resolution sound, but only a small part of the spectrum will be involved.
    Why did we do this?

    Remember, we saw in the settings that Android set the sampling rate to 48kHz. We could have done the same! The frequency is a multiple of the base frequency. But! In the case of standard files, we will most likely "get" to resampling 44.1 to 48. And in the case of high-resolution files, we most often get 96 - 48 and 192 - 48. It turns out that it is easier to set the maximum for a smartphone to 96 and then resampling will be: 44.1-96 and 192-96. Fewer files are converted to a different format. And the format is of higher quality, there is less chance of errors.

    Option number two - if you have the majority of files 24/48 and 16/48, then it is better to set the frequency to 48. Which is quite logical. The frequencies are 48 and 96 times and the conversion from one to another is of the highest quality. Therefore, if you come across a 96kHz file, it will be qualitatively converted to 48.

    There is also a third option - 44.1 kHz. Then, on the most common 16 / 44.1 files, the resampler is turned off and battery power is saved. The sound goes directly. But!
    You have not forgotten what our base frequency is! A multiple of 48. Yes, there are very expensive devices with two DACs installed: a multiple of 44.1 and a multiple of 48. Relatively popular devices contain either a multiple of 48 (most of them) or a multiple of 44.1 kHz.
    Therefore, the audio driver, having received a 24bit 44.1kHz signal, will be forced to upsample either up to 48 or up to 96kHz. And only the chipset manufacturer knows how this process will take place. In theory, it's much better to entrust this process to a quality SoX resampler.

    In the case of common high-resolution files, we get the transformations:
    48-44.1 or 96-44.1 or 192-44.1. And after that on the side of the audio driver back to 48 or 96kHz.

    How to configure the player if the base frequency is a multiple of 44.1? (Does not apply to Xperia Z2 and Z3.)
    Then if Hi-Res Output is supported, set 44.1 there. OpenSL ES Output should automatically tune to 16bit / 44.1 kHz output.

    You can see what transformations are taking place with the sound in the player on the music playback screen by swiping to the right and clicking on the icon with the letter i in a circle.
