The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion crashes? Game not starting? Does the game slow down? Flies out? Solves the most common problems. The Elder Scrolls Oblivion not starting, not working, not installing Oblivion not starting

Downloaded RePack somehow, on one torrent, I very badly scattered the assembly of some "author" for which the "proffie" in Oblivion really scattered me in the return line, they say, look how good he is, 28GB the game weighs ...
here are the individual topics:

1. You can only install plugins for quests, weapons and armor - and get additional hundreds of hours of play.
You can set up houses and castles, shops and clothes - and turn Oblivion into a kind of Sims.
You can install only plugins of the Erotica series - and turn Oblivion into Hentai.
And, finally, you can choose some ONE plug-in or install ALL at once (I do not recommend installing everything. Why - read below). That is why, as well as for the convenience of updating, I did not pack the entire collection into one archive or upload it as a disk image.
In any case, put the plugins ONE ONE! This makes it easier to identify incompatibilities, if any.

2. Almost all archives were an eerie mixture of descriptions, screenshots and plugins themselves. Now all plugins are repackaged by the 7-Zip archiver in the "Ultra" mode, which made it possible to reduce the archives by 20-40 percent; Readme and screenshots are taken from archives and packed into CHM - files.
Installation now boils down to simple drag-and-drop.
1. Open the "Oblivion" folder (for the "Golden Edition" it is "C: \ Program Files \ Oblivion"), open the required archive, click the "Data" folder in the archive with the mouse, drag it to the "Oblivion" folder and drop it. When asked to replace files, we answer: "Yes, for everyone." Launch "OblivionLauncher.exe", press the button "Data files", find the required plugin and activate it with a double click of the mouse, press OK, play ...
2. Plugins created using OBSE (OBlivion Script Extender), firstly, require its presence, and secondly, they are launched only with its help. Open the archive with OBSE (the folder "Programs" of the collection), copy the archive files into the folder with the game and then launch it ONLY using the file "obse_loader.exe" (make a shortcut for this file on the Desktop). To install and activate the plug-in, we repeat the body movements described in paragraph 1.
For more comfortable work, install the OBSE Launcher (the "Programs" folder of the collection), it allows you to run from OBSE not only the game, but also the Designer (useful if you decide, for example, to edit plugins created with OBSE. With it I corrected grammatical errors in the plugin "Sexlivion").

3. 1. Oblivion Launcher allows you to enable and disable plugins, but does not control the order in which they are loaded. To do this, install the "Oblivion Mod Manager" (folder "Programs" of the collection), which allows you not only to connect plugins, but also to manage the order of their loading. If the description indicates that the plugin should be loaded after all, launch OMM, find your plugin and set the download queue for it using the "Move up" or "Move down" buttons. Use BOSS (Better Oblivion Sorting Software) to avoid bothering with boot order. If you replaced textures (and meshes) of bodies, buildings or terrain, be sure to invalidate the textures. Launch OMM, click the Utilities button, select Archive Invalidation, check the Textures and Meshes boxes and click the Update now button.
2. Although I wrote above that you can install ALL plugins, this is not the case. Oblivion has a limit on the number of ESP-files - 256, including official and 1C files (and in my collection there are already over 1000 of them). plugins of already completed quests, and disable unnecessary ones.
3. The game may crash and freeze if the graphics settings do not match the hardware (overstated). Set the settings to "default" and then gradually increase. It is useful to read "What oblivion.ini hides" in the Documentation section.
4. Don't forget about the drivers! New is not always the best! As an example: I installed ATI Catalyst ™ 9.7 as expected, deleting the old ones and restarting the computer. "Departures" began - to the desktop, tightly, with a reboot and (oh, horror!) With BSOD. After suffering, I installed (without even uninstalling the current ones) ATI Catalyst ™ 9.5. Everything! 5-6 hours of playing with maximum settings - and not a single "crash"!
5. I hope you don't need to be reminded that from time to time you need to defragment the disk and clean the "Temp" folder, as well as close all applications before starting the game? Rebooting the system often helps. Well, in the end, even "pure" Oblivion, without any plug-ins, often hangs and "crashes" - take this philosophically. Better yet, save before fast travel (travel on the map) - my game crashes at this very moment.
6. The following does not apply to game freezes or crashes, but it will still be useful:
Some plugins need to be connected ONLY at a certain moment of the game, for example, "Whispered Warning" (the "Plugins - Gameplay" folder of the collection) are connected only after receiving an order to "clean up the Dark Brotherhood", if we connect it earlier, then the "Summermeest party" in Skingrad will take place - we simply will not be able to get into the house;
You cannot connect conflicting plugins at the same time, for example "Kvatch Rebuilt" and "Servant of the Dawn" - in one you must restore Kvatch, and in the other you must reopen the Gate to Oblivion;
Try NOT to complete several quests at the same time - quests are rigidly "tied" to scripts, and the execution of several scripts at once can lead to unpredictable consequences. For example, when I was completing the Thieves Guild and the Mages Guild quests at the same time, the first "froze" - the Gray Fox stopped giving tasks.
A few words about the buildings - for example, one author built the Castle of Olauron (a whole city in fact), by the way, he built it on the water so as not to interfere with anyone, "filling" the whole peninsula; Well, how does he know that another author will place an underwater house (Bravil Sea Domes) in the same place? And there are as many as 5-6 such "intersections" in the collection (or maybe there are already more). I didn’t delete the "repetitions" - you decide which house has the right to exist and which does not. But, in any case, do not rush to put all the houses at once, otherwise you will forget where to look for which one.
The same is with clothes: do not rush to buy (collect) everything at once, firstly you will not carry everything away, and secondly, even if the weight of things is zero, your inventory will open for several minutes.

4. Patches: NoDVD Oblivion Gold Edition - a pill for "greed" for the Gold Edition.

I would have slammed such a collector. so you need to take the original, and not bathe with such hicks ... repack damn ...

Known Issues and Solutions

Installation problems
If you have uninstalled and reinstalled Oblivion several times, some systems may display an error the next time you try to uninstall Oblivion. To fix this, insert the Oblivion CD and run setup.exe. This will fix the error and you can uninstall and reinstall the game.

Saved Games
Your saved games are located in My Documents \ My Games \ Oblivion (or \ My Documents \ My Games \ Oblivion).

Before installing the game
Before installing Oblivion, please make sure your computer meets the system requirements for the game.

We also recommend doing preparatory steps by running ScanDisk and Disk Defragmenter prior to installation. These utilities are part of the Windows® operating system and can troubleshoot and fix disk problems that cause installation and / or gameplay issues.

To run these programs and optimize your hard drive:

  1. Open "My Computer".
  2. Right-click on the icon of the disk where you plan to install the game (usually C :).
  3. Click on "Properties"
  4. Select the "Service" tab.
  5. Click "Check Now" to start Scandisk.
  6. When Scandisk is finished, repeat steps 1-3 and click on "Defragment" to launch Disk Defragmenter.

    Please note that defragmentation can take a long time. Better to start it in the evening and leave it to work overnight.

ATI Crossfire
Game performance on systems using ATI Crossfire will be reduced until ATI releases updated drivers to support Oblivion.

Oblivion startup error messages:

They appear as messages about not found dlls, like "d3dx9_27.dll not found."

To fix the error, open the Oblivion DVD and locate the DXREDIST folder. Open it and run DXSETUP.exe. You will install the version of DirectX required for Oblivion to work.

Inability to create new saved games
If during the creation of a character while entering his name was pressed the Tab button, a problem may appear when the game tries to write the save to the corresponding folder. It occurs because the character name is included in the save file name in Windows. This usually happens when you try to switch to another program with the Alt-Tab keys while typing a name. If this happens, autosaves and quick saves will function correctly, but menu saves will not work. The problem can be solved by renaming the hero, such an opportunity will be provided just before leaving prison at the end of the character generation process.

The following will be helpful if the character creation process has been completed:

The player's name can be changed using the console by pressing the `(tilde) key and entering the following: player.SetActorFullName" Player Name "(where Player Name = the name of the character). Press RETURN and exit the console window by pressing the tilde again.

It is also possible to save games using the console, namely by pressing `(tilde) and entering the following: save filename (where filename = the name of the save file of your choice). Press RETURN and exit the console window by pressing the tilde again.

Input problems
Keyboard input problems can result from peripheral control devices. Editing Oblivion.ini might fix the problem. The Oblivion.ini file is located in the My Documents \ My Games \ Oblivion folder. In the section, change the setting "bUse Joystick = 1" to "bUse Joystick = 0" or simply unplug the peripherals. Make sure to save your changes. Note that changes to Oblivion.ini will not be saved if the game is running at the time of making them.

Frequent crashes of the game due to the old system file
For some users, the game may crash due to an old system file. They can be due to the "mpeg2dmx.ax" file. Just rename it to "mpeg2dmx.ax.old" to fix the problem.

Frequent game crashes when an HP printer is connected
The software bundled with your HP printer may cause the game to crash. Before starting Oblivion: Press Ctr-Alt-Del to bring up the task manager. Click on the Processes tab. Right-click on any process that begins with the letters "HP" and select "End." Then you can start Oblivion. Note: The computer must be restarted to use the printer again.

System Tray FF Icons
Some players reported that "FF" icons appeared in the system tray during or after playing Oblivion. These are icons from a separate video / audio decoder you installed called "FFDShow." This program processes Oblivion sound files, which, according to some users, leads to a slowdown in the game, and after it there may be tray icons. Remove them by simply dragging the mouse over them after the end of the game. Removing FFDShow may fix this, but it is NOT required. You can follow the steps below to prevent FFDShow from processing sound for Oblivion anymore.

Instructions for disabling FFDShow for Oblivion without completely removing it:

  1. Click "Start".
  2. Click "All Programs" (or just "Programs", depending on the Windows setup scheme)
  3. Go to the ffdshow folder.
  4. Click "Audio decoder configuration."
  5. In the left pane, click on "Info & debug." This is the second line on the list.
  6. On the right pane, closer to the bottom, find the line with the checkbox "Don" t use ffdshow in: "
  7. Check the box and in the text box below it (it is highlighted when you check this line), add "oblivion.exe" (do not enter quotes). If there are already entries in the field, follow them with a semicolon (;) followed by oblivion.exe. DO NOT use spaces as ffdshow will treat them as part of the filename. The correct entry looks like "explorer.exe; oblivion.exe" (without the quotes).
  8. Finally, click "Ok" and start Oblivion.

Working with a gamepad

While the PC version of Oblivion is best suited for keyboard and mouse controls, you have the option to play with gamepads from various manufacturers. Due to their differences, you may need to make some changes to the Oblivion.ini file located in the My Documents \ My Games \ Oblivion folder. Below are the settings you can change to make an Xbox 360 controller attached to a PC work better with Oblivion. However, it should be noted that since the PC version of the game is optimized for playing with a keyboard and mouse, the gaming experience will NOT be the same as using a 360 controller for the Xbox 360 version of the game. These settings can also be applied to other gamepads, but the values shown will need to be changed again. Finally, the button assignment must be set in the game itself in the "Settings-Control" section, invoked from the main menu, however, DO NOT change the movement settings (Forward, Backward, Left, Right), as this will overwrite the changes made to the Oblivion.ini file.

These are Oblivion.ini's default values:

iJoystickMoveFrontBack = 2
iJoystickMoveLeftRight = 1
fJoystickMoveFBMult = 1.0000
fJoystickMoveLRMult = 1.0000
iJoystickLookUpDown = 6
iJoystickLookLeftRight = 3
fJoystickLookUDMult = 0.0020
fJoystickLookLRMult = 0.0020

Modify these to improve the functionality of the 360 controller connected to the PC.
; X = 1, Y = 2, Z = 3, XRot = 4, YRot = 5, ZRot = 6
iJoystickMoveFrontBack = 2
iJoystickMoveLeftRight = 1
fJoystickMoveFBMult = 2.0000
fJoystickMoveLRMult = 2.0000
iJoystickLookUpDown = 5
iJoystickLookLeftRight = 4
fJoystickLookUDMult = 0.7500
fJoystickLookLRMult = 0.7500

Make sure to save your changes. Note that changes to Oblivion.ini will not be saved if the game is running at the time of making them.

Oblivion Launcher updated
The updated launcher now includes options to change the automatically detected "Video Quality" settings. These include Very Low, Low, Medium, High, and Very High. If you select the "Default" value, then your system will be analyzed again and you will be offered the best settings for it.

Fans of The Elder Scrolls Oblivion are faced with an unpleasant situation when, after installation, the game does not start. Or errors appear during the installation process. Let's figure out what the reason is and fix the problem. The methods outlined in this article are not limited to The Elder Scrolls Oblivion. If not enough, the problem has not been resolved, read other materials on the site.

The Elder Scrolls Oblivion is not installed

If The Elder Scrolls Oblivion is not installing, see if there is enough free space on your hard drive. The distribution requires free space, so a few gigabytes of extra space won't hurt. Many modern games require a significant amount of space.

The Elder Scrolls Oblivion installation is blocked by antivirus

Often, anti-virus programs, in the fight against viruses, protecting our computer from external threats, for security purposes, block numerous processes performed by the operating system. Sometimes this security is so strong that the antivirus blocks access not only to viruses, but also suspends some normal processes, possibly mistakenly considering them potentially vulnerable. Disable your antivirus during installation.

Cleaning your computer and restarting

Sometimes, a simple reboot of the system can solve many problems at once during the installation of games and their subsequent work. The same applies to programs, applications. There are many reasons: the computer is clogged with garbage, the system cache is full, the maximum allowable number of simultaneously running processes, perhaps some are frozen and not running, but they put a load on the system. Cleaning your computer and restarting will fix the situation.

No Internet access

Some game clients require an Internet connection during the installation process, providing access to the installation server or the update server. Make sure the quality of the connection, and if there is no Internet, be prepared for problems with the installation of The Elder Scrolls Oblivion. It is good if the system gives an error message. And if there is none, you can think for a long time and wonder why the toy is not installed.

The Elder Scrolls Oblivion not starting

Before looking for reasons why The Elder Scrolls Oblivion won't launch, make sure that the installation itself was successful. Otherwise, if there were failures during the installation process, but at the same time the game was installed, it is impossible to guarantee the subsequent launch and performance. If it starts, you're lucky. What will happen next is unknown. Remember the installation process.

Reinstalling the game

Many gamers have repeatedly faced a situation where they had to reinstall games. This appears to be the case where reinstalling The Elder Scrolls Oblivion will fix the issue. What this is connected with is unknown, maybe the antivirus or firewall "ate" some files or something else at the time of installation, but after installing the game again, it starts and works. Uninstall The Elder Scrolls Oblivion and reinstall, paying attention to every detail during this process. Perhaps at some point the program will ask for additional files, etc.

There are times when installing on top of an already installed game solves the situation. The installer may prompt you to update the files. This eliminates the need for deletion. Well, something like this.

Finding information on the text of the error

Another option. Problems launching The Elder Scrolls Oblivion are usually accompanied by a corresponding system message. Search for the text of the error, as a result of which you will receive the most detailed answer, and, moreover, concerning this specific problem. Actually, the decision will not be long in coming. This will pinpoint the cause and correct the problem.

By the way, for some reason I always forget about it. Until I turn the whole computer over. But this one the method works at all 92%... It is enough just to hammer the text into the search and find a useful article. So you will definitely solve the problem, you do not need to send the PC to the workshop ahead of time and incur additional costs. There is a lot of useful material on the Internet - study it.

Launching The Elder Scrolls Oblivion as Administrator

Run the game as administrator. In our case, to run The Elder Scrolls Oblivion as administrator, you need to right-click on the game shortcut and select Run as administrator... Subsequently, if this method resolves the problem, make it the default. Open Shortcut Properties, under the Compatibility tab, and check the box Run this program as administrator.

The Elder Scrolls Oblivion is not compatible with the system

Another obstacle to running The Elder Scrolls Oblivion may be incompatibility with your operating system. In this case, in the same place, in the Properties of the shortcut, add the checkbox Run the program in compatibility mode, select the required OS from the drop-down list.

.NET Framework not installed

It is quite a serious problem to launch The Elder Scrolls Oblivion that the .NET Framework library is not installed on the computer, which ensures the launch and maintains the performance of programs and applications, including games. This is a prerequisite and Microsoft .NET Framework must be installed on your PC.

There are different versions of the .NET Framework. The presence of one of them on the computer cannot sufficiently guarantee the correct operation of the program. If, for example, a library is already installed on your computer, but the game requires - download and install it. Reboot your PC. The previous version will not be deleted or overwritten. They will just work together.

Take advantage of programs that prepare your computer for the game to work properly, and help you avoid many problems and errors.

Operating system Software
Windows XP / 7/8/10
Windows XP / 7/8/10
Windows XP / 7/8/10

DirectX availability

Perhaps the most important condition, a requirement that must be fulfilled for games, including The Elder Scrolls Oblivion, is that the. Without it, no toy will work. Almost all distributions that require DirectX installed already include this set.

Typically, DirectX is installed automatically during installation. If it is missing from the distribution, download and install. It is not necessary to do this before installation, you can also after, but the presence on the computer is simply necessary. Download links are located above.

What if The Elder Scrolls Oblivion isn't working?

Do not despair if you have already tried all the methods and nothing helps, the game does not work. Perhaps these tips will seem too vague, incomprehensible, errors are still present. Reconsider, did you do everything right? If necessary, download another distribution of The Elder Scrolls Oblivion, if purchased in the store, contact the seller (manufacturer) for help. Maybe the disc is damaged, something is missing. This is normal, quite natural, it happens. Use a different distribution and reinstall the game.

As a last resort, there are situations when the operating system is still incompatible with The Elder Scrolls Oblivion. Update the system using Windows (via Update Center). The game will work. If the manufacturer has indicated compatibility, then it is responsible for this. Update your operating system.

Reinstalling the OS is an extreme case. Not sure about statements like "the operating system is pirated ... assembly ... will not work ..." or "hacked, pirate toy - throw it away ..."... The point that is worth your attention is to remember if there have been similar problems with other games, in particular those similar to The Elder Scrolls Oblivion. And if problems were observed, this suggests that it may be time to update something in the system or reinstall it. Thank you for attention!

Other materials

If The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion crashes, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will not start, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion not installing, controls in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion not working, no sound, crashes errors, saves not working in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - we offer you the most common ways to solve these problems.

First, check if your PC meets the minimum system requirements:

  • OS: Windows XP
  • Processor: 2 GHz
  • Memory: 512 MB
  • Video: Direct3D-compatible graphics card with 128 MB memory
  • HDD: 4.6 GB free space

Be sure to update your graphics card drivers and other software

Before remembering the worst words and expressing them towards the developers, do not forget to go to the official website of the manufacturer of your video card and download the latest drivers. Often, specially optimized drivers are prepared for the release of games. You can also try installing a later version of the drivers if the problem is not resolved by installing the current version.

It is important to remember that you should only download the final versions of video cards - try not to use beta versions, as they may contain a large number of not found and not fixed errors.

Keep in mind that games often require the latest version of DirectX to be installed, which can always be downloaded from the Microsoft official website, for stable operation.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion not starting

Many problems with the launch of games happen due to incorrect installation. Check if there were any errors during the installation, try uninstalling the game and running the installer again, after disabling the antivirus - files that are often needed for the game to work are deleted by mistake. It is also important to remember that the path to the folder with the installed game should not contain Cyrillic characters - use only Latin letters and numbers for directory names.

It still does not hurt to check if there is enough space on the HDD for installation. You can try to run the game as Administrator in compatibility mode with different versions of Windows.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion crashes. Low FPS. Lags. Friezes. Hangs

First, install fresh drivers on the video card, from this the FPS in the game can significantly increase. Also check the workload of the computer in the task manager (opened by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + ESCAPE). If, before starting the game, you see that a process is consuming too many resources, turn off its program or simply end this process from the task manager.

Next, go to the graphics settings in the game. First, turn off anti-aliasing and try lowering the post-processing settings. Many of them consume a lot of resources and turning them off will significantly increase performance without significantly affecting the picture quality.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion crashes to the desktop

If The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion often crashes to the desktop, try to reduce quality of the graphics. It is possible that your computer simply lacks performance and the game may not work correctly. It's also worth checking out the updates - most modern games have a system for automatically installing new patches. Check if this option is disabled in the settings.

Black of black screen in the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

The most common black screen issue is a GPU issue. Check if your graphics card meets the minimum requirements and install the latest drivers. Sometimes a black screen is due to insufficient CPU performance.

If everything is fine with the hardware and it meets the minimum requirements, try switching to another window (ALT + TAB), and then returning to the game window.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is not installed. Installation hangs

First of all, check if you have enough HDD space for installation. Remember that for the installation program to work correctly, the declared amount of space is required, plus 1-2 gigabytes of free space on the system drive. In general, remember the rule - the system disk should always have at least 2 gigabytes of free space for temporary files. Otherwise, both games and programs may not work correctly or refuse to start at all.

Installation problems can also occur due to a lack of internet connection or instability. Also, do not forget to suspend the antivirus during the installation of the game - sometimes it interferes with the correct copying of files or deletes them by mistake, considering it as viruses.

Saves not working in the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

By analogy with the previous solution, check the availability of free space on the HDD - both on the one where the game is installed and on the system disk. Often, save files are stored in the documents folder, which is located separately from the game itself.

Controls not working in the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Sometimes in-game controls do not work due to the simultaneous connection of multiple input devices. Try disconnecting your controller, or if for some reason you have two keyboards or mice connected, leave only one pair of devices. If your controller does not work, then remember - officially only controllers that are defined as Xbox joysticks support games. If your controller is defined differently, try using programs that emulate Xbox joysticks (for example, x360ce).

Sound not working in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Check if the sound works in other programs. After that, check if the sound is muted in the settings of the game itself and if the sound playback device to which your speakers or headset is connected is selected. Next, while the game is running, open the mixer and check if the sound is muted there.

If you are using an external sound card, check the manufacturer's website for new drivers.

Unfortunately, there are flaws in games: brakes, low FPS, crashes, freezes, bugs and other minor and not so big bugs. Often, problems begin even before the start of the game, when it is not installed, downloaded or even downloaded. Yes, and the computer itself sometimes freaks, and then in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, instead of a picture, a black screen, controls do not work, sound is not heard or something else.

What to do first

  1. Download and run the world famous CCleaner(download by direct link) is a program that cleans your computer of unnecessary garbage, as a result of which the system will work faster after the first reboot;
  2. Update all drivers in the system using the program Driver Updater(download by direct link) - it will scan your computer and update all drivers to the latest version in 5 minutes;
  3. Install Advanced System Optimizer(download by direct link) and enable Game Mode in it, which will terminate useless background processes during the launch of games and increase the performance in the game.

The second thing to do if you have any problems with The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion is to check the system requirements. In an amicable way, you need to do this even before buying, so as not to regret the money spent.

Minimum system requirements for The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion:

Windows XP, Processor: Pentium 4, 512 Mb RAM, 4.7 Gb HDD, Video memory: 128 Mb

Every gamer should at least understand a little about the components, know why a video card, processor and other things in the system unit are needed.

Files, drivers and libraries

Almost every device in a computer requires a set of special software. These are drivers, libraries and other files that ensure the correct operation of the computer.

It's worth starting with the drivers for the video card. Modern graphics cards are made by only two major companies - Nvidia and AMD. Having found out which product is spinning the coolers in the system unit, we go to the official website and download the package of fresh drivers:

A prerequisite for the successful functioning of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion is the availability of the latest drivers for all devices in the system. Download the utility Driver Updater to quickly and easily download the latest drivers and install them with one click:

If The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion does not start, we recommend that you try to disable your antivirus or put the game in the antivirus exceptions, and also check the system requirements again and if something from your assembly does not match, then improve your PC if possible. by purchasing more powerful components.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion has a black screen, white screen, color screen. Solution

Problems with screens of different colors can be roughly divided into 2 categories.

First, they are often associated with the use of two video cards at once. For example, if your motherboard has a built-in video card, but you are playing on a discrete one, then The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion can be launched for the first time on the built-in one, and you will not see the game itself, because the monitor is connected to a discrete video card.

Secondly, color screens are used when there are problems with displaying images on the screen. This can happen for a variety of reasons. For example, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion cannot work through an outdated driver or does not support a video card. Also, a black / white screen may appear when running at resolutions that are not supported by the game.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion crashes. At a certain or random moment. Solution

You play for yourself, play and then - bam! - everything goes out, and now you have a desktop in front of you without any hint of a game. Why it happens? To solve the problem, it is worth trying to figure out what kind of problem the problem is.

If the crash occurs at a random moment in time without any regularity, then with a probability of 99% we can say that this is a mistake of the game itself. In this case, fixing something is very difficult, and the best thing is to just put The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion aside and wait for the patch.

However, if you know exactly at what moments the crash occurs, then you can continue the game, avoiding situations that provoke a failure.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion freezes. The picture freezes. Solution

The situation is about the same as with crashes: many freezes are directly related to the game itself, or rather to a developer's error when creating it. However, often a frozen picture can become a starting point for investigating the deplorable state of a video card or processor.

So if the picture in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion freezes, then use the programs to display statistics on the loading of components. Perhaps your video card has already exhausted its working resource a long time ago, or is the processor warming up to dangerous temperatures?

The easiest way to check the load and temperatures for the graphics card and processors is in MSI Afterburner. If you wish, you can even display these and many other parameters over the picture of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion.

What temperatures are dangerous? Processors and graphics cards have different operating temperatures. For video cards, they are usually 60-80 degrees Celsius. Processors have a little lower - 40-70 degrees. If the processor temperature is higher, then you should check the state of the thermal paste. It may have dried out already and needs to be replaced.

If the video card is warming up, then you should use the driver or the official utility from the manufacturer. It is necessary to increase the number of revolutions of the coolers and check if the operating temperature drops.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion crashes. Low FPS. Frame rate drawdowns. Solution

With lags and low frame rates in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, the first step is to lower the graphics settings. Of course, there are many of them, so before lowering everything in a row, it is worth finding out exactly how certain settings affect performance.

Screen resolution... In short, this is the number of points from which the picture of the game is formed. The higher the resolution, the higher the load on the video card. However, the increase in load is insignificant, so you should only lower the screen resolution as a last resort, when everything else no longer helps.

Texture quality... Typically, this parameter determines the resolution of the texture files. The texture quality should be reduced if the video card has a small amount of video memory (less than 4 GB) or if a very old hard disk is used with a spindle speed lower than 7200.

Model quality(sometimes just detailing). This setting determines which set of 3D models will be used in the game. The higher the quality, the more polygons. Accordingly, high-poly models require more processing power of the video card (not to be confused with the amount of video memory!), Which means that this parameter should be reduced on video cards with a low core or memory frequency.

Shadows... They are implemented in different ways. In some games, shadows are created dynamically, that is, they are rendered in real time every second of the game. Such dynamic shadows load both the processor and the video card. For optimization purposes, developers often abandon full-fledged rendering and add pre-rendered shadows to the game. They are static, because in fact they are just textures overlaid on top of the main textures, which means they load memory, and not the core of the video card.

Often, developers add additional settings related to shadows:

  • Shadow Resolution - Determines how detailed the shadow cast by the object will be. If there are dynamic shadows in the game, it loads the video card core, and if a previously created render is used, it "eats" the video memory.
  • Soft Shadows - smoothing out unevenness on the shadows themselves, usually this option is given together with dynamic shadows. Regardless of the type of shadows, it loads the video card in real time.

Smoothing... It allows you to get rid of ugly corners at the edges of objects by using a special algorithm, the essence of which is usually to generate several images at once and compare them, calculating the "smoothest" picture. There are many different anti-aliasing algorithms that differ in their level of impact on the performance of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion.

For example, MSAA works head-on, creating 2, 4 or 8 renders at once, so the frame rate is reduced by 2, 4 or 8 times, respectively. Algorithms such as FXAA and TAA operate a little differently, achieving a smoother image by calculating only the edges and using some other tweaks. As a result, they do not degrade performance as much.

Lighting... As with anti-aliasing, there are different algorithms for lighting effects: SSAO, HBAO, HDAO. They all use the resources of the video card, but they do it differently depending on the video card itself. The fact is that the HBAO algorithm was promoted mainly on video cards from Nvidia (GeForce line), so it works best on "green" ones. HDAO, on the other hand, is optimized for AMD video cards. SSAO is the simplest type of lighting, it consumes the least resources, so in case of brakes in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, you should switch it.

What to reduce first? Shadows, anti-aliasing and lighting effects tend to work the most, so it's best to start with these.

Often, gamers themselves have to optimize The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. For almost all major releases, there are various relevant forums and forums where users share their ways to improve productivity.

One of them is a special program called Advanced System Optimizer. It is made especially for those who do not want to manually clean up the computer from various temporary files, delete unnecessary registry entries and edit the startup list. Advanced System Optimizer will do this on its own, and will also analyze your computer to identify how you can improve performance in applications and games.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion lags. Big game lag. Solution

Many people confuse "brakes" with "lags", but these problems have completely different reasons. The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion slows down when the frame rate at which the picture is displayed on the monitor drops, and lags when the latency when accessing the server or any other host is too high.

That is why "lags" can only be in network games. The reasons are different: bad network code, physical distance from servers, network congestion, incorrectly configured router, low speed of the Internet connection.

However, the latter happens less often. In online games, communication between the client and the server takes place through the exchange of relatively short messages, so even 10 MB per second should be enough for the eyes.

There is no sound in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. I can not hear anything. Solution

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion works, but somehow it doesn't sound - this is another problem that gamers face. Of course, you can play this way, but it's still better to figure out what the matter is.

The first step is to determine the scale of the problem. Where exactly is there no sound - only in the game or in general on the computer? If only in the game, then perhaps this is due to the fact that the sound card is very old and does not support DirectX.

If there is no sound at all, then the matter is unambiguously in setting up the computer. Perhaps the sound card drivers are installed incorrectly, or maybe there is no sound due to some specific error of our beloved Windows OS.

Controls not working in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion cannot see mouse, keyboard or gamepad. Solution

How to play if it is impossible to control the process? The problems of supporting specific devices are irrelevant here, because we are talking about familiar devices - a keyboard, mouse and controller.

Thus, errors in the game itself are practically excluded, almost always the problem is on the user's side. You can solve it in different ways, but, one way or another, you will have to contact the driver. Usually, when connecting a new device, the operating system immediately tries to use one of the standard drivers, but some models of keyboards, mice, and gamepads are not compatible with them.

Thus, you need to find out the exact model of the device and try to find exactly its driver. Often, devices from well-known gaming brands come with their own software kits, since the standard Windows driver simply cannot ensure the correct operation of all the functions of a device.

If you don't want to look for drivers for all devices separately, then you can use the program Driver Updater... It is designed to automatically search for drivers, so you just need to wait for the scan results and load the necessary drivers in the program interface.

It is not uncommon for the brakes in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion to be caused by viruses. In this case, it makes no difference how powerful the video card is in the system unit. You can check your computer and clean it of viruses and other unwanted software using special programs. For example NOD32. The antivirus has proven itself to be the best and has received the approval of millions of users around the world.

ZoneAlarm is suitable for both personal use and small business, is able to protect a computer running Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP from any attacks: phishing, viruses, malware, spyware and other cyber threats ... New users receive a 30-day free trial.

Nod32 is an anti-virus from ESET, which has received many awards for its contribution to the development of security. On the developer's site, versions of antivirus programs are available for both PCs and mobile devices, a 30-day trial version is provided. There are special conditions for business.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, downloaded from the torrent does not work. Solution

If the distribution kit of the game was downloaded via torrent, then in principle there can be no guarantees of work. Torrents and repacks are almost never updated through official applications and do not work over the network, because in the course of hacking, hackers cut out all network functions from games that are often used to verify licenses.

Using such versions of games is not only inconvenient, but even dangerous, because very often many files are changed in them. For example, pirates modify an EXE file to bypass protection. At the same time, no one knows what else they are doing with it. Perhaps they are embedding self-executing software. For example, which, when the game is first launched, will integrate into the system and use its resources to ensure the welfare of hackers. Or, giving access to the computer to third parties. There are no guarantees here and cannot be.

In addition, the use of pirated versions is, according to our publication, theft. The developers have spent a lot of time creating the game, investing their own funds in the hope that their creation will pay off. And every work must be paid.

Therefore, if you encounter any problems with games downloaded from torrents or hacked using one or another means, you should immediately remove the "pirate", clean your computer with antivirus and a licensed copy of the game. This will not only save you from questionable software, but also allow you to download updates for the game and receive official support from its creators.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion gives an error about missing DLL file. Solution

As a rule, problems associated with missing DLLs occur when starting The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, but sometimes the game can access certain DLLs in the process and, not finding them, crash in the most insolent way.

To fix this error, you need to find the DLL you need and install it on your system. The easiest way to do this is with the program DLL-fixer, which scans the system and helps to quickly find missing libraries.
