11.05.2018

Emphasize your uniqueness. This also applies to ringing tones and videos on your Android smartphone. A song or ringtone from a reality show or a favorite movie as a ringtone or SMS melody, a video with an incoming call is a sign of the individuality of the smartphone owner, telling others about his tastes in music and cinema. Following our instructions, you can independently post a melody on any Android device.

If you haven't already, you should go and try it now. This can come in handy in appointments, dates, and when you sleep. We'll show you how to set it up so you don't wake up until the morning. It is important to note that the priority mode only affects the sounds made by your smartphone. Messages and calls will still appear in the notification drawer as usual, but you will not receive any beeps. This is not the same as simply putting your cell phone into airplane mode. The star icon is displayed in the status bar when you are in priority mode.

How to set a ringtone or SMS message on an Android smartphone

Instead of forcing others to listen to standard Android melodies set in the default call settings, you set as a signal something of your own, close in spirit, for example, arias performed by Vera Davydova. You can install on a call or SMS any downloaded over the Internet.

The easiest way to activate priority mode is through the volume buttons. Start moving the volume up or down and then click Priority in the pop-up dialog that appears. You can then choose whether to leave the priority mode indefinitely or run it for an hour. Press the plus or minus buttons if you want to extend or decrease this time period.

Using your own media files as ringtone and notification

If you don't want to manually set the priority mode, then you can schedule it. At the bottom of the screen, select the "Days" option and select the days of the week that you want to turn on priority mode, you can also set the time accordingly, so when you go to bed and when you wake up is a smart choice.

Setting a permanent ringtone using the Music app

Your actions are as follows.

At the first incoming call, this song or melody will sound.

How to change the default ringtone through the Android File Manager

The Android operating system, unlike iOS, does not create any difficulties with the installation of a ringtone and SMS. Any melody or song downloaded from the Internet using both the built-in Android Download Wizard, and with another "downloader" such as DVGet or tTorrent, will be saved on the SD card - each of these applications, as a rule, has its own folder on the memory card, in which is "thrown" by all downloaded content. And it, in turn, is easy to find with the Android File Manager.

Here's how to enable priority mode, but you can also set which events, apps, and contacts are allowed to break through the wall you've built. If you look at the Interrupts screen we just mentioned, events and reminders, calls and messages can be enabled or disabled. Note that any alarms you set will always override the priority mode settings, which is useful if you want to be able to wake up in the morning.

When it comes to calls and messages, end-to-end communication is the default. If you choose the latter option, you can go to the Contacts app to get the starring role. Tap the option marked by Priority and your chosen app, then select the correct security level.

Congratulations! You now have the desired ringing tone.

Change and customize your ringtone for individual contacts or a group

How to change on one of the numbers

Ask this person to call you back - the selected composition will sound.

You might also want to double check your in-app notification settings to make sure they are configured correctly. As with calls and messages, notifications from apps you haven't cleared are still displayed on the screen as usual, but audible alerts are disabled. You can also set your phone to not show any interruptions either from the Popup Volume dialog or the Interrupt Screen, this blocks sounds from everything, even your alarms, so use with caution.

How to assign a ringtone in Android to a contact group

The choice of melodies downloaded over the Internet in the Contacts application has not yet been brought to mind - this is the task of new versions of Android. Use third-party apps like Group Realtones to set your ringtones. Most of them are available at PlayMarket.

Method 2

In such cases, we recommend using ES Explorer, which is much more functional than the standard Explorer. If Explorer is already installed, then you could see that when you clicked on the "Voice call ringtone" item, the system offered you a choice of which application to use to set the sound.

ES Explorer does not allow you to pre-play these files, it just activates the file that you see on the screen. However, as soon as you select a file, it is registered as a notification (ringtone) sound and will be available in the default ringtone list.

Method 3

This method may not work on all devices. But, it is worth your attention. This method will make it very easy to add your media files to the default ringtone list. So, we need any file manager, even a regular one will do.

  • start the file manager;
  • search for the required mp3 file in it and copy it;
  • in the phone's memory (not on an SD card), look for the Ringtones folder and paste the previously copied file there. Thus, this ringtone will now be available in the default ringtone list.
  • now we follow all the steps described above - in method 1, and we are looking for our ringtone, which we just copied.

Note. For method 3 to work correctly, the file name and meta description must not have Cyrillic characters. But, if this method did not work, do not be discouraged, use method 2.

Mustache we put the melody on the subscriber

It will be much funnier if you set different melodies for your loved ones or even for all the subscribers in the phone book. In order to set a melody to a contact from the phone book, you need to:

  • go to the phone book;
  • decide on the choice of the contact to which you are going to install the melody and print it;
  • click it to view full details
  • press the menu and select the item "set ringtone". On different devices, this item may have different names. By the way, it can be placed below the contact details.

That's basically all we wanted to tell you. We hope you have dealt with this task, and now it will not be difficult for you to change the ringtone and notifications.

Let's imagine that you have a smartphone based on the Android operating system and you want to set your own SMS melody (the melody plays when you receive a message), which you like so much lately. How to do it?

The first step is to find a melody or cut it out of a song. Next, you need to transfer it to your smartphone. For this, we created the Media music folder (the name was invented, you can name your folder whatever you like), after which the desired MP3 melody was transferred to it.

Now we return to our device and go to the settings.

In the settings we find the "Sound" section. In our case, it is called "Sound Profiles".

In this section, you need to find the item "Notification sound" and tap on it.

You will see a window asking what to use - media storage or file manager? If you select a media storage, a list of standard tunes will open, and we do not need them. Therefore, we select the file manager (in our case - ES Explorer, you can have any other installed).

Using the file manager, we find the very folder where we placed the file. We open this folder, see the melody and tap on it.

The sound of notifications has changed, as you can see for yourself.

To listen to the sound, if the melody suddenly does not play, click on "Notification sound" and select the media storage. Here you will see your melody. Tap on it and it will play.

Thus, you can add a lot of different melodies for SMS and change them at least every 10 minutes.

Please note that the process is the same for all Android devices, including Samsung, Sony, Alcatel, etc. Only the shell and its appearance can change.
