How to move the screen on a laptop right to left. Troubleshoot monitor problems (image misalignment). Change the position of the screen with built-in Windows tools

Good afternoon, my voracious knowledge hunters!

The agenda for today is how to return the program window that has run away from the desktop?

Haven't you had this before? And just the other day such an incident happened to me. I had two monitors, everything was fine. One monitor was needed for another business and I turned it off. Shortly after starting work, I found that my favorite Notepad ++ had disappeared from view at startup, although its active icon was hanging on the taskbar. But the window itself is nowhere to be seen!

What to do? Hug the monitor and cry at the Notepad icon? :) No, there is a solution! And how to return windows back to the desktop will be discussed in my article.

First of all, make the window of the "run away" program active. That is, select it with the mouse on the taskbar or use Alt + Tab to switch to it. The screenshot shows an example for Alt + Tab.

So, the program window is active, the window itself is not visible. Now, read carefully what needs to be done next.

Press the Alt + Space key combination. It opens a special system menu of the active window. It looks something like this:

In my case with Notepad, the menu appeared at the very edge of the monitor on the right. Indeed, the last time the notebook was opened was on the right monitor. Next, press the down arrow on the keyboard and select the second item - Move... Press Enter.

Now, after pressing Enter, the window is ready to move. Press the left or right key, depending on which side of the monitor the window is hidden from, and we begin to move the window. You will see the outline of the program being moved (see screenshot below). Continue holding the arrow key until the entire path is on the visible desktop. Then press Enter.

Do you have a game that needs to be played with the monitor upright? You are trying to create a unique screen home computer? Are you building a retro arcade game? Rotating your monitor is not a straightforward procedure, but with the right hardware you can customize your monitors the way you want. After the monitor is installed, you can change the way windows display so that you do not have to tilt your head to view. Finally, you can calibrate your monitor so that the colors look their best.

Steps

Part 1

Rotate screen orientation

Try to rotate the screen using keyboard shortcuts. This is the most quick way to rotate the displayed screen, but it does not work on all systems. The quickest way to find out if it works is to run a simple test. If these keyboard shortcuts don't work, go to the next step:

    • Ctrl + Alt + will rotate the screen 90 ° to the left.
    • Ctrl + Alt + will rotate the screen 90 ° to the right.
    • Ctrl + Alt + will turn the screen upside down.
    • Ctrl + Alt + will return the screen to its original correct position.
  1. Open the Screen Resolution window. In Windows 7 and 8, it can be opened by clicking right click mouse on the desktop and selecting "Screen Resolution". In Windows Vista, select "Personalization" and then click the Display Settings option.

    • In Windows XP, select "Properties" and then click Settings.
  2. Choose your turn option. Look at the "Orientation" drop-down menu There you can choose an option to rotate the screen. Select the option you want and then click Apply.

    • If you do not see the Orientation option proceed to the next step.
  3. Open the video card control panel. In this case, the rotation of the screen is carried out with the help of the video card, and not Windows. While most modern graphics cards add rotation options to windows windows Screen Resolution you may need to open the video card control panel to access it.

    • Typically, you can access the control panel by right-clicking on the desktop and clicking on the graphics card control panel option. You can also reach it by opening the panel Windows management and then selecting it there.
    • Select the "Rotation" or "Orientation" section on the control panel. You can use them to rotate the screen to your liking.
    • If the screen is not rotated by the keyboard shortcut, there is no rotation option in the Screen Resolution window, or there is no installed video card, you will not be able to rotate the screen.

Part 2

Adjusting Monitor Settings
  1. Open the calibration image. There are many free calibration images available online. The calibration image serves as a reference point when you change monitor settings.

Open the monitor menu. Most monitors have an OSD that you can use to adjust color, brightness, and contrast. If your monitor does not have an on-screen display, then separate buttons must be built in for these functions.

Set the color temperature. Monitor calibration images usually have blocks of color luma. Use them to find a color temperature that feels natural to you and allows you to see all shades clearly.

    • 6500K is the standard value for monitors, although some calibration images will ask you to increase it to 9300K. Not all monitors will allow you to set the temperature value.
  2. Set brightness and contrast. Use the brightness and contrast controls to adjust them so that you can clearly see the dark areas in the calibration image. Generally, you should be able to see the later areas, but the first few areas should be indistinguishable. This will ensure that black and dark scenes in movies and games are clearly visible.

  3. Adjust the position of the screen. Sometimes the screen does not fit exactly within the monitor and you may notice that your mouse extends beyond the boundaries of the small screen, or black bars may be visible around the edges. You will be able to adjust this in the monitor menu.

    • You can move the screen horizontally and vertically, stretch and shrink it. Use these controls to properly fit the screen to the monitor.

Why might you need this option? First answer option: to view images big size in the right angle. So, for example, do the developers of gaming products designed to play in a projection onto a vertically positioned display. A photo taken from the wrong angle and placed on the desktop also needs to be corrected.

In addition, some modern monitors may themselves be installed differently. You can think of a dozen more situations in which the user may need to rotate the screen. So how do you rotate the display? This is the subject of our small note. As usual, there are several different options for doing the same thing.

Method one and the simplest: use keyboard shortcuts. Here is a picture to explain it:

However, this option does not work on all computers. The easiest way to make sure that a function is available is by experience. Press simultaneously "Ctrl" + "Alt" + an arrow key and admire the result.

If nothing has changed on the screen, then try other options, which we will discuss below.

Other ways to control the screen image

Some benefit in terms of solving our problem can be obtained using the "Screen Resolution" window.

To get to it in Windows 7 and Windows 8 is as easy as shelling pears: you just need to click on an empty space on the desktop and in the context menu that opens, select the item with the same name.

A window will appear something like this:

By manipulating the "Orientation" list, you can achieve the desired effect.

In Windows XP, the same option is available in the desktop properties window (click on an empty space on the screen and select the "Properties" menu item).

The next way to move the screen on a PC or laptop to the left or in any other direction is to use the capabilities of not the Windows OS itself, but the options of the video card.

When installing a driver for a modern video adapter, we usually install some other software like a video card control panel.

Dig into its options and you will surely find something there to adjust the orientation. Better yet, just read the documentation for such a program.

You can move the screen horizontally and vertically, stretch and shrink it. Use these controls to properly fit the screen to the monitor. I need to change the value of some field that does not fit into the screen. As usual, there are several different options for doing the same thing.

The next way to move the screen on a PC or laptop to the left or in any other direction is to use the capabilities of not the Windows OS itself, but the options of the video card. Using the buttons to the right, left, you can adjust the image on the monitor, as it suits you. Unfortunately, we cannot say more specifically, since this menu is different for different monitors. So how do you rotate the display?

I am attaching screenshots. Can be opened by clicking on the Start menu on the keyboard. But it is impossible to read and delete mail, all games are not centered, but shifted to the left, because of this, the ball falls, and it is impossible to catch it.

Ctrl + ⎇ Alt + → will rotate the screen 90 ° to the right. This allows the monitor to be easily rotated 90 °. Please note that if you rotate the monitor manually, you will still need to adjust the orientation through the graphics card settings. Whenever you rotate the monitor, it must be firmly attached to a stand or mount. Using foreign objects to mount the monitor may cause unstable operation or overheating.

I didn't want to take Ruslan's bread, but apparently this post has long been forgotten by him. I'll have to answer my own question, maybe it will come in handy for someone. Open a dialog box, press the Tab button repeatedly and watch how the buttons and lines in the window are activated in turn. Thus, activation reaches the buttons invisible to you. You just have to raise the window, as Ruslan said above, remember the location of the button you need, return the window to its original position and, pressing Tab, activate the invisible button.

How to adjust, adjust and rotate the Windows screen

Adjust the position of the screen. Sometimes the screen does not fit exactly within the monitor and you may notice that your mouse extends beyond the boundaries of the small screen, or black bars may be visible around the edges.

I am looking in "Adapter". Two possibilities to adjust - “List of all modes”, where you can adjust the frequency, color and size - all this is irrelevant and “Properties”.

On the right side of the control panel, you should find the section " Display". Then select the sub-item " Rotate the display", And in it the type of orientation. To return to the standard mode of displaying images, it is enough to specify the option “ landscape».

On a PC with an AMD graphics card, the process is different. In the control center, you need to select the item " Common Tasks", and then " Rotate desktop". Messages with the required rotation option are displayed on the screen. The user only has to choose the one that suits them. You can rotate the laptop screen using an Intel adapter. The shortcut is located in the tray. We click LMB on the shortcut and select the item "".

In the "" section of the "" area, select the option for displaying the image and click OK.

Possible causes of this problem

Screen rotation on a laptop can happen accidentally, that is, if the user did not ask special settings but the orientation of the image has changed anyway. There may be several reasons for the appearance of such an error:1. Inattention. The user accidentally pressed the desired key combination on the PC. Very often this error occurs during computer game. 2. Software problems. System errors, malfunctions can also lead to an unintentional change in the orientation of the PC. The user himself cannot return the default settings. To confirm or exclude this option, just boot the PC into safe mode... The screen orientation should be standard. 3. Viruses. Malware changes the way not only the screen works, but the hardware as a whole. Therefore, it is recommended that you regularly check your laptop for such dangerous software. 4. "Beta version" of drivers. It is better to download software from the manufacturer's website. Moreover, the latest release is always posted there. Verifying that the problem is with the drivers is easy enough. If you cannot change the orientation, you can change the extension or any other indicator. If the drivers are not working properly, the picture on the screen will remain the same. 5. On laptops equipped with an accelerometer, the automatic rotation... If this function is active, then the screen rotation on the laptop may occur unintentionally. To solve the problem, it is enough to disable the option in "All parameters" - "System" - "Screen".

What to do if none of the methods helped

If none of the options for changing the orientation worked, then there is a problem with the hardware. The issue can be resolved only at the service center.
